Kyle came out today to perform our AC maintenance and flush the water heater. We typically use a plumber for the water heater flush, but Pacific Aire was offering a $49 promotion, and it was time for our six-month AC maintenance, so we decided to combine the services. Although the AC and water heater appointments were scheduled for different time slots, Kyle handled both services seamlessly. He was professional, well-mannered, and efficient, transitioning between the two tasks without any wasted time. We are very particular about not wearing shoes inside our home and provided disposable boot covers, requesting that he use a new pair each time he went outside and returned indoors. Kyle fully respected this request and followed it carefully. Before changing the filters for our attic units, Kyle informed me that he only had one set of filters available and initially planned to schedule another technician to complete the remaining work. When I explained that scheduling another visit would be inconvenient, he immediately contacted the main office and arranged to go to the warehouse himself to pick up the additional filters. He returned quickly and completed the job sooner than previous technicians have. Additionally, when our thermostat was replaced during a prior visit, we were told a handyman would return to patch the wall openings left from the old horizontal thermostat. That follow-up never occurred. Kyle took the initiative to call the office on our behalf and successfully scheduled a handyman appointment to complete the finishing touch-ups, which we greatly appreciated. Kyle's work was thorough, professional, and highly efficient. Despite it being a Saturday and us having a full schedule, his effectiveness allowed us to move on with our day sooner than expected. Always get a second opinion. Last winter I found a pool of water around my heating system so I called Pacific Aire and had them inspect the unit. Once the inspection was completed I was told my entire system needed to be replaced at a cost of $12,000.00 to $20,000.00, depending on which model I chose to replace it with. I was told if I signed a contract at that moment they would discount the total cost by 10% and would replace my system the following week. I was shocked that my system needed to be replaced and the high cost. I didn't sign the contract and instead called another company to get a second opinion. The second company inspected the unit and told me it was working fine. They said the reason I had water on the floor around the unit was because the unit's water pump had failed and it would only cost a few hundred dollars to replace it. They replaced the water pump and my system has been working fine since then. It heats my house well and stopped leaking. We contacted them to have our tankless water heater serviced. This involved flushing the system to descale it. They also check the system for any problems. Scheduling the visit was efficient and easy. They called a few days to confirm and then on the day of the service sent a text when the rep was on his way. There is even a link to see where they are on a map. Robert and Jake (he was a trainee) arrived as scheduled. Robert told me they added water heater service about one year a go. The service was thorough and complete. Robert explained everything they were doing and briefed me on the condition of my water heater when they were done. CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH In the middle of a heat wave we needed relief fast. Instead of calling our home warranty company, and waiting two weeks for someone to come out, we chose the first business that could come out right away. A short time later we were met by a friendly, seemingly knowledgeable, repair technician who would diagnose our problem. He said the air conditioning fan motor was burned out and the evaporator coils were frozen over possibly due to a leak. When I asked how much the repairs would cost the repair technician said he would have to send out a customer service person to discuss the repair cost with me A short time later, the customer service representative arrived and said he needed to measure each room, all the vents, and returns. When I asked why, he said this was for a whole system replacement. I was confused, I asked why that was needed when the repair technician said only a couple of parts needed replacing. The customer service representative said that the repair technician said the whole system needed to be replaced and was surprised I was not told this. After a short conversation I told the customer service person I would be contacting my home warranty company. We waited two weeks and a local HVAC company repair technician came to our house. 10 minutes later, and after replacing a $100 regulator, our AC was working. Our fan motor and evaporative coils were not defective and the whole system did not need replacing If this company says you need a whole system replacement, get a second opinion. Pacific Aire came out to our home 3 times before they finally suggested that they should send out someone else (a 4th time) to check the refrigerant. Are you kidding me? That wasn't the first thing you would check? They instead, sold us a capacitor for $200+ (plus service fee) that probably wasn't even needed. I called to complain, and asked to speak with the owner and was told that wasn't possible. That he was "in and out" and that's why they had service managers. Our service manager was not very apologetic and not very helpful. We will NEVER use Pacific Aire again and highly recommend you don't either. read more

My a/c went out at my 25 year old condo. My regular guy wasn't available for a few days, so I called Pacific Aire. We were about to go into a heatwave so I decided not to wait. Big mistake! The first guy shows up to "trouble shoot". " Oh, this looks bad. You're probably going to have to replace the whole system". I thought to myself, "well the unit is 25 years old, he's probably right". WRONG! Then he tells me I should sign up for their "club membership" at a recurring $16.00 a month, so I can save 5% on the new a/c work. I figure 5% is 5%, it'll pay for itself. I agree. After some signatures, he tells me another guy will be out tomorrow to quote the unit, he's just the trouble shooter. Ok, I guess that's a thing? They set an appointment for the following day. The next day, their estimator shows up (I'll leave his name out of this since he's just doing his job) He proceeds to tell me that the the condenser is gone and I need to replace the whole system. If I was to replace just the condenser, it would be more energy efficient than the air handler and this would not be working in harmony with a 25-year-old unit. It made sense to me so I agreed and moved forward with the quote. "Oh I see you're a club member, that'll save you 5%, and if you take advantage of the 0% interest financing, I can knock off another 3 percent"! Wow, how lucky did I get? I just saved 8%! I'm feeling good for about 30 seconds and then he gives me the price...$11,200!!! What?? That can't be right. But it is! $11,200! I took it all in, told him I needed to discuss and would get back to him. He left, and I sunk into the sofa. $11,200? For what?? I'm confused. As soon as the shock wore off, I called my regular guy, who was available in 2 days. He came over, climbed on the roof, hocus pocus, presto chango, it's a $300 Fox. I needed a new capacitator! THATS IT! Not a new system, a $300 repair! As you can imagine, I was furious. How could a company do business like this? How can they look you straight in the face and tell you the entire unit needs to be replaced, when all it was, was a $300 fix. I'm beside myself. I called today to speak to someone about reversing my "club membership" as I will NEVER be doing business with this company. "All of the people who have the ability to cancel are on another call. Someone will get back to you". As I'm typing this, still no return phone call. Don't be fooled by their gloom and doom diagnostics. Get a second opinion. It just saved me $11,000! The technician was friendly and seemed knowledgeable, but a day later our heater was not working like it was before their visit it doesn't blow hot air anymore. They schedule us for an appointment to talk about possibly replacing the unit and they never showed up, never cancelled and to this day never called us back. We had an overhaul of our HVAC system two years ago. Since then we've become a premium member of this organization so that we would receive a biannual check ups of the HVAC system. At that time they installed a UV scrubber into the exchange box. Since then the light has gone out and we purchased a OEM replacement for the unit that they installed. That's about as far as the product support went... After making arrangements with their office to replace the lamp for the UV scrubber unit, the technician who was sent to perform the lamp installation and biannual upgrade stated that he would not install the OEM lamp and that Pacific Air had to provide the lamp. Guess what? That lamp cost $550.00 if purchased from Pacific air(yet the oem replacement cost us only $90.00 direct from the manufacture. This isn't only a scam to screw over older homeowners, it's highway robbery; and I would never allow these thieves into my home again; even if it was to scrub the floors. Any contractor that refuses to install an OEM factory replacement part for a product that they service is ethically challanged. I only gave them one star because zero wasn't an option. read more

We used this company a couple times and the service was fine. The problem we experienced was that they were constantly calling to provide follow-up services. I asked them to stop calling a couple times. Then I called their offices to ask that we be put on a no-call list. If I wanted their services, I would call them...but that wasn't good enough. It finally got to where I blocked their calls, but they kept emailing and somehow had the ability to leave messages on my voicemail even though the calls were blocked. I get the feeling that the outgoing phone salespeople didn't want to take the blame for the "remove request" so they never told anyone I wanted to be left alone. Today, I called and spoke to a supervisor. I asked her to remove me from their records. She she'd put me on a "do not follow-up list". I know they are just trying to keep busy and the follow-up calls probably help their business, but 2 calls a day, 3 times a week is over-doing it. After taking a walk through my home they came out with their sales gimmicks to sell me an over priced system. They use this sheet to show you different packages and after receiving their sales pitch I was floored by their excessive and over priced systems. Telling me I had to wait since they were so busy. Well after they left I called several other companies which were half the price for the same rated systems. I am writing this review because I think this is a price gouging company which provides the same systems as other for double the price and can stare you in the face and tell you that they are the best. The technician Derek was friendly which is the only reason I didn't leave a one star, the whole show they put up is rather entertaining. My compressor fan motor went bad, they wanted $1500 to replace it, I called around 3 different companies and they said there's no such thing as a condenser fan motor for a residential property costing that much. The labor cost is outrageous, I had another company come in and take care of it for a little less than $800. I guess they need to make up for their fancy uniforms, shoe covers and flashy work vans, so they charge double the industry standard for repairs. read more

My sister just spent $12,000 in Sept. to have a furnace replaced and an ac unit added to a 1,400 as ft modular home in Ventura. I had tried to tell her she was paying too much but she proceeded. She still has no ac or heat! They said it's because of the duct work and they are not responsible for duct work. They have told her a few times that they were going to get it working. At least twice someone came but to no avail -- usually no one shows up or returns call when they have promised they would.
