My group ordered the different versions of poke (poke guacamole, poke duo, and poke avocado duo, and a grilled salmonover Caesar salad. Our food was very fresh and of excellent quality. Why then only the stars? Two things: First, the menu presents several dishes, but many of them are different combinations chosen from a limited number of ingredients, so not really as extensive as it would seem at first glance; second, service was AWOL. We had to leave the table more than once to find our server. The neglect made it difficult to enjoy the meal. Dear diary, Today we went in for an early dinner with a few friends. The atmosphere was very bright and clean with plenty of room for our party of 9. Our server Jake took care of us in a timely manner and was attentive the whole time we were there. Me and my boyfriend got the ahi poke bowl and the grilled salmon bowl. These bowls were massive. We've been back for lunch twice in July, and I've really enjoyed an item from their Feel Good 5 menu -- the Citrus-Pepita Salad with Shrimp (5/5 $13.95 +$7 for Shrimp). This is a nice bowl of organic greens with avocado, orange, jicama, pepita, queso fresco, pickled red onion, cilantro, and quinoa served with a citrus-mango vinaigrette and a grilled lemon -- topped with six shrimp. Found in a mall with some wonderful restaurants, this has a special, upbeat decor that makes for dining in a great atmosphere. They have indoor and outdoor seating for all tastes. The service was good, but not incredible. The maitre'd was friendly and seated us quickly in a booth. The waiter came over to ask about drinks and delivered them. After that, we ordered. We ordered the edamame as a starter. It was very good, served warm with a delicate seasoning. I ordered the miso black cod which was amazing. My husband ordered the Summer Sea Bass which he really enjoyed. Here is my big problem. We asked to have the edamame brought out first as our appetizer. We didn't have it in front of us for more that 5 minutes and they brought out the entrees. When I specifically say we want something first and then they bring out the rest of the food so quickly, you can't enjoy everything. Either the entrees get cold while you finish the starter or (as in this case) we stopped eating the first course, ate our entrees and took the edamame home. They are not the only restaurant who has done this. However, at a high end restaurant, it was unexpected. Also, I ordered an ice tea to drink and was never offered a refill. I noticed when reading the reviews that a majority of the negative ones were service related but i decided to ignore that - i should not have. The service was horrific. I used to go to pacific catch years ago when I lived in the Bay Area so a few years ago I was happy to hear they were opening down here. I have been multiple times over the years and the service and food have remained consistent. After an appointment, I was hungry and realized I was close by. Perfect lunch option. Parking is free for the first hour and I was able to get a spot relatively quickly. I was greeted and seated instantly. I ordered an Arnold Palmer and one of their choices of bowls. The best time to come is during their Aloha Hour. Especially now that the parking rules have changed at UTC and you're more likely to have to pay for parking to get anything done here, you might as well get some savings somehow! Their aloha hour deals are really good with share plates, sushi and drinks all at a great price. I found the food to be tasty! We actually eat Pacific Catch pretty often but mostly by ordering to-go or through a food delivery app. The food has always been pretty great even for take-out so I was interested to see if our dine-in experience would be any different. If you're coming for Happy Hour, let the host know because I think it's only available at the bar and/or the tables around the bar. Since we weren't interested, we asked to be seated in the outdoor patio. Cabo Calamari: Great appetizer to share, tons of bite-sized, crispy pieces. The chipotle aioli is spicier than you would think! I really liked that they also fried slices of lemons. Fish & Chips: Comes with three pieces of Alaska Cod, slaw, and your choice of fries, salad, or chips and salsa. The cod batter was fried crispy but I thought the fish was just okay. Not the best in San Diego, but not the worst. Korean BBQ: This is my go-to order and I usually get steak. Super saucy, which goes great with the kimchi fried rice. You also get an egg with the yolk still intact so I'll usually pop it and mix it in with the rice for some creaminess. I usually don't have an issue with the brussels sprouts but this time, it didn't seem like the flavors absorbed well so each bite was bland. I absolutely love going to Pacific catch for tasty casual eats. They're usually always is room in this refreshing restaurant to do walk-ins and I've always had extremely friendly staff. I've been here a few times and I really like the pupu platter if you'd like to get a lot of diversity. As you can see from my picture, however I think one of the best items on the menu is this trio of Ahi prepared three different ways. The sear was too perfection and melted in my mouth. This is definitely going to be one of my go-to spots now at UTC. It's a hidden gem tucked in the back of UTC mall near Somi Somi, don't know how I hadn't tried it before especially being someone who LOVES seafood. Ambiance - open and airy when you walk in. Noise levels, despite having 2 big parties, were moderate and comfortable. Service - amazing. I was indecisive (too many good options to choose from) but Alexandria S was super patient with me and helped guide me to the right choice for the evening. Food - I had the Kona Kanpachi with the house salad and japanese yams. I ate everything, I'm not sure they even had to run the plate through the dishwasher after I was done with it lol. The house salad was delicious, kind of reminded me of a mushroom salad but with lettuce in it. Super flavorful and I loved the different textures. The yams (cooked to perfection, crispy outside and soft inside) were covered in a yellow curry. Delicious. The Kanpachi was perfectly cooked as well; crispy skin on the outside, moist on the inside. It came with a chimichurri sauce on the side and grilled lemon which were both great additions. Pricing - I felt the freshness, flavors, and overall portion size lined up with what I'd expect to pay. The restaurant is very dog-friendly and even has an adorable pup menu. Unfortunately, my dogs have sensitive stomachs, so they weren't able to enjoy any of the items. We ordered: * Guaca-Poke: this was delicious and incredibly fresh. The poke was excellent, and I loved the chips they served with it. My only suggestion would be to include a few more chips on the plate. * Korean BBQ Steak: absolutely phenomenal. The portion was large enough to easily share between two people, and the steak was cooked perfectly. If you sign up for their app, they offer a free shareable on your visit, which is a great deal and honestly what brought us through the door. One thing they should update is that the app doesn't clearly state you can't combine more than two offers. The service was one of the highlights of our visit. Our server was wonderful with the dogs, checked on us regularly, and gave excellent recommendations. He did accidentally forget to remove the complimentary shareable from the bill, but we caught it before paying, and he fixed it immediately without any issue. I'm really disappointed with my recent order of the shrimp ceviche. I've ordered it several times before and always enjoyed it, but this time it was completely different. The ceviche was extremely citrusy and acidic, to the point where I was literally wincing with every bite because it was so harsh. The next day, I developed painful white bumps (papillitis) all over my tongue, and I'm still dealing with them now. Eating and talking comfortably has been difficult because of how irritated and painful my tongue has become. What's frustrating is that I've had this dish multiple times before without any issues. The excessive acidity made me question whether the shrimp was as fresh as it should have been, since ceviche sometimes relies on extra citrus to mask seafood that isn't at its freshest. I wanted to share my experience because this wasn't a minor irritation, it has caused days of discomfort and is still affecting me. I particularly love the chillean sea bass tacos (which you can request with lettuce wraps instead of tortillas for those ordering a gluten free or low carb option!). Second time I've been to this place in the past two years and I am pleased to report they have maintained the same quality and consistency of their food. We started off this the fried calamari which was not greasy, very fresh and came with a dipping sauce which perfectly complimented the calamari. We then ordered the tacos, wifey got the fried shrimp and fish and I got the 3 taco combo, fried shrimp, fish and the Chilean Sea Bass...they were all excellent...they also came with the side of chips or salad...we opted for the salad with the miso dressing on the side...the salad was super fresh with micro greens, edamame and associated greens...it was super delicious and honestly did not even need the dressing. I wanted to give this restaurant another chance. When they first opened I had a fabulous meals. So excited I went back a couple weeks later and was highly disappointed. Fast forward a couple years I went back for dinner. Our server was delightful but my dinner went from bad to worse. I ordered the West Coat Style grilled salmon. The salmon was overcooked, so I sent it back. The second salmon was the same overcooked dry fish. Instead of asking if I wanted something else they tried a third time. Third time was not a charm - it was raw inside. At that point I handed back the dish. A few minutes later the a waiter came over and told us our meal had been comped. So I had no food. My kids did enjoy their dishes. So 1 star for raw food served. We all know that is unacceptable in any dining situation unless it is meant to be served raw. The Kanpachi from the grill was well done. The chimichurri sauce had a little kick. The wagyu burger was enjoyed by my son. The calamari with Fresno peppers was delicious. Not sure I will go back. read more

One of the best services I've ever received at UTC. I rolled in 30 minutes until closing and was 15 minutes to my reservation and was met with a pleasantly surprising welcoming demeanor. Came here on a Sunday around noon and the place just had a sparse number of patrons for such a large establishment. Chose Pacific Catch mainly because my wife wanted to have a healthier meal though I would have chosen ramen or a smash burger. My wife got the salmon on the grill , seasoned with Asian herbs with a salad and Kim chee rice. Seeing that I wasn't craving for seafood (at a seafood joint), I opted for the Korean BBQ ribs with Kim chee rice and Brussels sprouts. So first thing I noticed it wasn't beef but PORK. And the ribs didn't have the Korean bbq taste I'm use to but had some generic southern style flavor that was trying to be Asian. It was mid. Portions was large but had that "straight from the freezer and cooked" taste. The Kim chee fried rice was clumpy, thick and I didn't enjoy it. The egg on top was good and helped eat some of the rice. There was a large amount of Brussels sprouts that would fill a separate entree. It was ok, it was topped with another sweet sauce that was fine but that wasn't supposed to be the focus of the order. I took home a lot of it to go but not sure whether I would eat it again but at least my dog can enjoy the bones. One of the best things is the happy hour, which has full bar service and very good prices for the UTC Mall. I left a bad review 3 years ago and they reached out to send them an email. I didn't see the email until this month of march 2026. When I emailed them they gave me 500 points to use on their app. I got the cabo calamari, poke & ceviche trio (original ahi Poké, serrano ahi poke, and Baja shrimp ceviche) shrimp tempura roll, and Thai tea.
