This modern Chinese fast-casual restaurant opened this year and specializes in Mini Bowls (small portions) with a build-your-own concept. It's kind of like an upgraded version of Panda Express, but with much more authentic Chinese flavors. The biggest highlight is their robotic cooking system . Every dish is stir-fried using an automated robot wok system, which makes the cooking time, heat level, and seasoning much more consistent. The staff basically just handles the prep and plating. If you're dining alone, I recommend getting the 3-Entree Bowl. If you're with two or more people, you can order several dishes and share them family-style. For the carbs, the Braised Pork Rice and Fried Noodles are both so good! We also tried the Mapo Tofu with Ground Pork, Pork Stir-Fried with Chili Peppers, and Tomato & Egg, and honestly, everything was delicious. The best part? Three people spent only $30 total, so about $10 per person, and we were completely stuffed! Such an amazing value and honestly way better than I expected. Maybe it's because I read a lot of reviews saying the food wasn't very good before coming, so I set my expectations really low But surprisingly, everything was actually right up my alley! Definitely coming back next time to try the rest of the menu!

For comparison I have a small Asian size fist, this is the mini bowl Red Braised Pork Belly with Potato
    Ri L.

Tried takeout from here for the first time. For the price, the portions were small and almost inedible. I got the 8.99 pork belly with potato and I got 3 pieces of meat and most of it was black/charred , couldn't even eat it. See the picture. Btw it does not come with rice even though it may be listed under "mini bowl".... I also got 3 entree meal for 17 bucks, they gave me 6 pieces of orange chicken and maybe two tablespoons of the wagyu/mince pork and I paid extra for the hongkong fried rice. At least when you get Panda Express they pack it on so you can get at least 2 meals out of it, but here you're lucky to get full. I probably won't come back when you get comparable Chinese food for bigger portion and price elsewhere.

We just found this place. Amazing! Love the clean decor and food. Great service. Lots of options.

I was originally going to go to The Kebob Shop for dinner but then I saw Tigawok next door. I was so curious I stepped inside and ended up dining in. It was 7:30pm and the line was short with one couple ahead of us. It's pretty fascinating to see the Robot cook the food in a device which looks like a washing machine and they even sanitize before they cook the next batch and always cooks at the right temperature. Too bad the menu won't tell us how much calories we are consuming it should be easy to put it on the menu since it's measured with accuracy. Food will be consistent here. I tasted the food and everything was cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed the honey walnuts shrimp it was crispy to perfection. I was very lucky to have the last servings of the fried rice it's very popular base here. I also recommended the mixed steamed vegetables I had the samples and that was also cooked perfectly and seasoned the right amount. Now that I am full and happy with leftovers to take home for tomorrow. I will definitely be back to Tigawok and even order food delivery here.

I was very intrigued about Tigawok after a few of our friends went to try and said that they enjoyed their meal here. It looked like a Panda Express adjacent so we figured we should see and compare. - PARKING - Lots of parking in this plaza, no worries about not getting a spot! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - There's not a ton of seating, but given this is a meal that can be easily taken out, that's not a huge deal. They have all the available entrees on display, and you're able to ask for samples of any of them. once you decide your entrees, you build your bowl with a base of rice or noodles, and go down the line like a Panda Express. - FOOD - Chow Mein is standard taste, however pretty good considering sometimes at Panda there's so much cabbage and I barely get any noodles. I got the orange chicken and mapo tofu and both were very good! I had some of my husbands braised pork belly and that was delicious as well. - OVERALL - Will likely come back to try more of their entrees! Very competitive pricing and portion size compared to Panda.

Glad to have finally tried Tigawok located in La Jolla! Fast service and good quality Asian food for its price. I appreciated that they allow samples before ordering. I opted for a 3 item bowl for $14.99 that includes a base of either rice or chow mein ($1.50 extra to upgrade to fried rice). For my entrees, I opted for the garlic eggplant and green beans, Tiga mapo tofu (I don't eat pork so I appreciate that they have the tofu and pork separated), and the honey walnut shrimp (for extra price). I very much enjoyed these dishes, especially with the spicy sauce located by the front door. The portions are decent and left me enough leftovers for a second meal. Overall, I'd come back to Tigawok to try out the other entrees!

Noodles, orange chicken, tiga chicken, tomato with egg, $16.

Intrigued by the robot woks that prepare the food here and prices and serving sizes are competitive to Panda Express. Think of this as a more upscale Panda with more authentic flavors. We ordered chow mein, orange chicken, tiga chicken and tomato with egg, for $16. Service was friendly and ambiance clean. Only disappointment was that they ran out of honey walnut shrimp for the day and it was only lunchtime!

Excited they opened their first location in SD! We came around 5 pm on a weekday and it was pretty quiet but it filled up quickly. Service was friendly and quick and offers samples. My sister and I shared the 2 entree bowl and 3 entree bowl and had so much leftovers, enough for another meal each! -Chow mein (4.5/5): tasty, savory, not dry or super oily -Honey walnut shrimp (4/5): crispy, flavorful, sauce was good, walnuts huge and crunchy -Tiga cola chicken (4/5): tasty, juicy, flavorful, one of my favs -Orange peel chicken (4/5): nicely crispy, sauce is good and not overly sweet or sour -Mapo tofu (2.5/5): haven't really ate this but it wasn't my style, very soft and not that flavorful or spicy Overall, a solid spot for casual and quick Chinese food. Decent prices and generous portions. I would be back!

I've been meaning to try Tigawok at their other locations in California, so I'm ecstatic they opened one locally in SD! I must say the concept of robots cooking is pretty cool. I stopped by on a weekday for dinner around 5PM and it wasn't too busy at the time, but quickly got packed as we ate. Service was quick and friendly. My sister and I got the 2 entree bowl & 3 entree bowl and we both had half left, so the portion is pretty generous! Decently priced too Chow mein (4.5/5): really good, flavorful and not dry or overly oily! Orange peel chicken (4.5/5): I honestly haven't had that much orange chicken (since it's not really real Chinese food), but I quite like this one! Not overly sweet or sour, and has a nice crunch Honey walnut shrimp (4/5): crispy and the sauce was yummy. The shrimp is decently sized Tiga cola chicken (4/5): very tender but I prefer the orange chicken Mapo tofu (3/5): tofu is very soft but not that spicy and I thought it could've used more flavor. We added the optional ground pork which was alright Overall, I would come back to either get the combo bowls or try family style and get a bunch of different bowls! A great, casual option for Chinese food

Wow! I am pleasantly surprised by this place! Definitely worth the visit. We originally wanted to go to Ikes but saw this place opened and decided to stop in. They have basically 2 ways you can order. An entree with a side and 2 mains (about 12-17 dollars), or you can order by mini bowl (2-8 dollars)We decided to get 3 mini bowls! We ordered the red braised pork belly, orange chicken, and chow mein. You go through a line similar to subway or chipotle as they dish out what you want. The place itself is really clean and definitely new! A nice bright spice with a easy concise menu and way to order. Let me go over the food! Red Braised Pork Belly and Potato: oh my word, I am obsessed with this. The pork melts in your mouth and the potatoes don't even need to be chewed they're so soft. The entire thing is soooo well flavored too. Orange Chicken: unlike some places this has a good chicken to breading ratio and the orange flavor is very natural tasting and not a fake sickly orange. Chow Mein: really good and jamm packed with veggies! Really flavorful too and not overly greasy. Staff were also super nice and helpful when ordering and trying to figure out what to get! Will 100% be back!

This is the upscale panda express and I would say it has a unique concept of using wok robots to cook their food. I will say that the flavor and the price are worth it in the four-star category. This is your casual, fast, dining and being in the location it is I think it will do well. The portions are fairly large and the price point is equivalent so I would say it's worth visiting grabbing a food to go or if you are needing a quick bite to eat I would say this is your place if you want Chinese food that's quick and flavorful. They are new so many things they are trying to figure out one of the unique aspects is that they are giving out nice bags for it to go orders currently.

Great grand opening day! The lines went by fast and I felt they really wanted you to have a great experience. I was debating between cola chicken and orange chicken, so glad they offer a sample to help me finalize my decision. Portions are great especially for the price. Even though it's "fast/casual" Chinese food, they really got some Chinese staples that I love. Mapo tofu was great and so was the braised pork belly. A good amount of seats and can't wait to go back to try the other dishes.

So glad they finally open a location in SD! Today it's their grand opening day. I love their location when I first had Tigawork in Sawtelle. I love the dishes offer are more authentic Chinese dishes. For their grand opening promo they have a BOGO deal. Buy 1 Tigabowl (2 or 3 entree) you get a free mini bowl (any value) and a free ice tea. Definitely a great time to give them a try if you have not had them before. I loved their mapo tofu (got a little kick), braised pork belly (so tender), eggplant + green bean (got some wok hei). Service is great, the line moved fast even though everyone had a Q about the grand opening promo. Very clean and plenty of seating! It's right across a large parking lot, so no issues with parking either. Will definitely be back!

I think I was sitting in the store for at least 30 minutes while a family member waited in our car and watched several people park, get their orders and leave. When we first arrived, no one even showed up at the counter for at least five minutes. There was another customer waiting behind us as well. My sandwich (Happy Hippie) was not very good...insubstantial and put together in a blah manner. A family member who had the "not so fried chicken sandwich" said it was too salty. I paid $62 for this order (with a tip, which I had added before the long wait...) It obviously wasn't a good value, This is a beautiful and clean store but a general lack of enthusiasm from the associates, inconsistent customer service, high prices, and mediocre quality food will dissuade me from making any future visits to this location.
