Visited for lunch today. After reading on yelp that there was parking in the back, I drove straight to the back (they have some limited parking in the front). Walked in the rear entrance and placed order at the counter. Nice, quick, friendly service. I joined the rewards on toast during the checkout process. Ordered a Cali Cowboy and Grilled Shrimp. Both were fresh and tasty! I wasn't sure which of the several fresh salsas to pair with my tacos. I went with the medium tomatillo (several available in the mild and hot categories). When the medium didn't have enough heat for me, I got the habanero salsa. GREAT flavor and not unbearably hot. Just perfect on both the shrimp & beef tacos. The shrimp could have been hotter, but the taco was still good & I would order again. The winner today was the Cali cowboy. The brisket had a nice bbq flavor, the avocado slices were perfectly ripe, the fresh jalapenos were crunchy, & the drizzle of crema sauce all made this taco my favorite!! Love the atmosphere. Casual, coastal, bright, & welcoming to all.

Korean beef ($6), grilled mahi mahi ($7), bang bang shrimp ($6) -- all sans cilantro per request

Stopped by after trying their location near Memorial Park-- the bright and colorful interior with big windows letting in the sunlight was really nice. And they had the garage door in the back open with the nicer weather :) they have a big menu including breakfast tacos until 2pm, nachos, quesadillas, bowls, poke/ceviche-- but we stuck with the mainstream-- tacos! Tortilla options include the usual flour and corn but also jicama (type of root veggie like a potato that reminds me of raw radish, and they're low carb/calorie). I think the jicama tortillas would be better warmed up instead of cold, since all our tacos (all with jicama!) felt lukewarm when they reached the table. We tried 5 tacos, with my favorites being the grilled mahi mahi and bang bang shrimp. The meat options we chose (KBBQ, pork banh mi, and carnitas ) were all quiteeee salty for me. The KBBQ flavor also doesn't taste like the traditional Korean bulgogi sauce, more of a Pei Wei style / overly sweet / overly salty version. However, the fish tacos (grilled Mahi mahi, bang bang shrimp) were not over salted and quite flavorful and enjoyable! The mahi was meaty and not overcooked or dry. They also did a great job catering towards customizations (no cilantro for specific tacos, jicama tortillas choice, etc.). I will stick with the fish options next time or go to their other location to see if the meat options are also super salty! Pay at the front and they'll bring you the food. There are self serve water and sauce stations, and service was friendly and accommodating. There's a small parking lot at the front and a larger one in the back!

Ceviche was good just really salty. Fresh made tortilla chips to go along and a prepared salsa bar. Overall was really good. Customer service was really nice and friendly. I would definitely go back.

Love!! The tacos are so yummy. Haven't tried the breakfast tacos though! Clean, fresh tacos. I love the tuna nachos as well, perfectly done honestly. Inexpensive fun casual spot for dinner! Service was great. Talked to the manager like 3 times when I last visited and checked on us even when it's not a waiter style restaurant.

Great experience, they really load up the tacos! The passion dragon drink is great and so is the habanero pico de gallo. The wait time is very quick and they deliver it to your table, and they have good live music on the outside patio. It could be a little cooler inside, but it's manageable.

Queso, but it needs some color on top

Do yourself a favor and try these tacos! Seriously! But save yourself the headache and park in the back, the lot is good size! Husband and I ordered the Baja queso to start. The cheese was thick and had a good flavor. I feel like there should have been some jalapeños on top, like pictured on their site, as it looked pretty boring though. For my tacos, I got the surf and turf and the cali cowboy. Hands down, the cali cowboy was my favorite. The brisket was crispy and delicious. The surf and turf was good but true to fajita meat, the beef was chewy, but the shrimp was delish! I love they have the hot sauces already in containers so you can get what you want. I didn't find any of them to be terribly hot, not even the habanero, but it's ok because it would kill the flavor of the food. The staff was super cool, the place is super clean and bright, and they have a full bar. I will definitely be back!

Food was delicious. They have so many different types of tacos. It's a fun lil food adventure. Slightly overpriced by a dollar or two but still not bad. The service was great though.

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. We pulled up to this food truck and, while placing our order, I instantly had the feeling that this crew knew exactly what they were doing. There's even a security guard on site, which only adds to the impression that this place is fire. So when I happened to drive by on a 100-degree afternoon and found no line, I took it as a sign to finally give it a try. The small parking lot adjacent to the truck was nearly empty, except for a few other patrons who probably had the same idea. Ordering was simple and to the point. The menu keeps things straightforward: a selection of meats served as tacos or plates with a handful of sides. I ordered two barbacoa tacos with salsa verde. Less than two minutes after placing my order, they were in my hands. Fast service on a scorching day is always appreciated. With no seating available, I retreated to the comfort of my car to eat. Based on the amount of grease packed into these tacos, I would recommend doing the same. Eating them while standing could end with your shirt becoming an unintended side dish. One thing to note: don't count on a generous napkin supply. I realized after returning to my car that none were included. Consider keeping a few emergency fast-food napkins in your glove compartment. Those leftover Taco Bell napkins may finally fulfill their destiny. The barbacoa was flavorful, the salsa verde complemented it well, and overall, the tacos were overall tasty. That said, I left somewhat underwhelmed considering the crowds I routinely see gathered here during lunch and dinner hours. Perhaps I'm missing the standout item that keeps customers lining up daily. Even so, if you happen to have cash in your pocket and find yourself craving authentic tacos, this truck is certainly worth a stop.

There's a parking lot, but we went on the weekend, and while the interior didn't look overly full, it was somewhat difficult to find a parking spot. The restaurant itself is clean. Everything is pretty much green and white. There's covered patio seating. You order from a window and there's a large menu printed nearby The menu offers all sorts of tacos, meats, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, quesabirras, sides, and even kids meals. You can get beer, margaritas, and non-alcoholic drinks. There's also a breakfast menu The food was good, and it didn't take too long to come out. My main issue was the service. The individual taking orders seemed to have a bit of an attitude and just seemed "over it." Furthermore, we mentioned having a queso coupon and when we were given the total I placed my card on the reader and I was told that I did it too fast and the queso wasn't taken off. The odd thing was, we walked away and realized that they didn't add the queso and the coupon was for free queso so they could have just rung up an additional queso. This individual had the vibe of eye rolling everything, and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth Some tips: You can order online to avoid any wait. Just go up to the pick-up window when it's supposed to be ready for a painless interaction There's a little bar area where you can get pre-packaged (to-go) salsas, pickled onions, limes, etc etc etc. the salsas are tomatillo, habanero, and jalapeño (I believe) You can order margaritas to go, which we did!
