Alright, we all have our issues with PG&E. For me, it's mostly the price / kWh. That having been said, they were fantastic today. We had an issue where our power was behaving strange. Power would lag, then return to normal, lag again, return to normal, and repeat. I called PG&E and they had a guy named Henry come out within 1-2 hours. Henry spent 5 minutes looking at the line from our pole to our house and spotted a frayed neutral wire, worn by a tree branch over the years. He let me know that it was a serious safety issue and killed the power to our house. A few hours later, Nate's Tree Service showed up and cleared a path for a new power line. Shortly thereafter, PG&E returned with a squad of guys who pulled a new power line from the pole to our house with a larger capacity. It was a minor inconvenience for us that could have been much worse. PG&E came out and fixed a serious issue quickly. We appreciate the team's great work. read more

For 2 months PGE has an additional property in Redding CA on my bill for gas. I DO NOT have a property there. Yet they opened services without my consent/permission. To complete the AVIDAVIT and PGE written report requiring I am who i say is almost the exact same requirement for a CA ID - but I must give the copies of each thing. IRONY is that IF THEY HAD CHECKED WHOEVER HYJACKED MY ACCOUNT AS WELL, I WOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM! There is an address - send local PD to find out who is. INSTEAD, I MUST MAKE A REPORT WITH SJPD before PGE can move forward with the person who stole my PGE IDENTITY. NO OWNERSHIP ON PGE PART! THEY allowed the problem and are making it most difficult to remedy yet THEY put someone on my account without MY CONSENT. PGE consistently and without fail causes me more stress and annoyance than any other company I have had the displeasure of dealing with. On multiple occasions they have adjusted my bill with no notification and charged me months later for usage well in the past. As a corporation they should have been dissolved years ago. @Pacific Gas And Electric Power out again, at East Dunne and 101 in Morgan Hill, out every day since Sunday the 4th and at the same time, around 4:00 pm, during the worst heatwave on record, and the hottest part of the day, when temperatures are 110 and higher, the power goes out, last night was 11 hours without power, it came back on @ 3:30 am. The temp was at least 90 inside our hotel when the power did come on (as with most hotels no windows and no ventilation). The PG&E automated response system is a joke at best, the voice recognition is absurd, and each time you finally get to a real person the representative they "can't hear you" or "can't understand you" or the call is suddenly disconnected forcing you to go through IVR (hell) process again and again! PG&E continues to say it's rolling blackouts, however we know they are lying, and sadly there is no agency or entity interested in holding them accountable. PG&E knows the most vulnerable amongst us are paying a heavy price for their ineptitude and callous disregard for public health and safety. read more

I would give PG&E zero stars if I could. I received a statement from PG&E today saying that I can no longer pay from check because I bounced two checks over the past 12 months. That is entirely not true. I always have money in my bank account. I tried contacting PG&E today to clarify. It's not a big deal paying by debit card but it's the point. I didn't bounce a check at PG&E. I could not get through to anybody on their phone system. What a nightmare. I have a feeling part of this is because of PG&E filing bankruptcy. They raised our rates. And then they raised our rates again. After they filed bankruptcy and didn't pay for any of the damages they were responsible for. Talk about a scam? I wish we had options with our utilities in San Jose CA, Because I would opt out of using PG&E. Get your s--- together. We pay you guys a small fortune. And you have zero customer service. Worst customer service ever. When you call and try to speak with someone, they just keep looping you around the automated line forever. You will not be able to speak with any agent. When there was a long power outage, they did not set up a community center either, just kept replying to comments on Twitter. They provided no resources, what if people needed someplace for shelter during the outage to charge and get medicine and contact people? Useless company. read more

A+ customer service every time! I usually come here to pay my bill in the mornings around 10:00 AM, and have never experienced a long line. If lines are not your thing, there is a little machine in the lobby area where you can pay your bill. Just be sure to bring your account number, checkbook, and you're golden. There is also a drop box on the side of the building on West San Fernando Street. Parking is limited, so plan accordingly and bring change! read more

Since the debacle in San Bruno that killed people and destroyed man homes, we've been subjected to hundreds of PG&E commercials that told us how much PGE cares about us and wants to provide the safest service imaginable. Utter nonsense! I just paid my bill online (convenient) but had questions about a supposedly past-due balance and an $18 'third party fee.' And so I called to ask about these charges. It took me five minutes to go through their automated system and then I had to wait 15 minutes to get a callback. The gentleman who phoned me started by asking my phone number (he'd just called me?). He was very polite and tried to be helpful but couldn't really explain why there was a 'past due' charge on my bill but reassured me that it didn't mean anything and wouldn't affect my credit - that my account was fully paid. Like many customers of PGE, I think that the company should really invest in more safety and much better customer service rather than telling us in TV commercials how much they care (total lie). As evidenced by all of the feedback on this site, the customers of PG&E do not like nor trust this monopolistic organization. If the California PUC is to be effective at all, they must use their regulatory power to reign in this terrible company. read more

Power went out at 7am and they haven't done anything. I've seen their truck parked in a burger joint and the time keeps getting pushed back for repair time. Without my permission, PG&E switched me to paperless billing. As part of their plan, they buried and obfuscated the online route required to recover bill by mail. I gave up trying to find it online and had to call in. When I called in there was an over 10 minute hold time. When I finally got a human, the agent was well practiced at handling angry customers looking to fix what PG&E had broken, and he rapidly pointed me down the hidden path of their web pages. After I had switched off paperless billing, I was told it might take two billing cycles for my request to be honored. Isn't this the digital age? Why so long: is it incompetence and/or malevolence of a monopoly? Getting me back to the way I wanted required about 20 minutes of my time. This may push be over the edge to going solar. read more

Recently a tree limb took out the electrical meter in our backyard. We called PG&E to report it, they came and replaced it, and then our bills dropped considerably. Since I'm not one to pour over the PG&E bill looking for mistakes (not like the credit card bill where you have to be sure nobody billed you twice or failed to issue a refund as promised), I didn't realize they weren't billing us for ANY electricity use for the months of October, November, or December. In January, they caught up and I got hit with a $600+ PGE bill. Since I work in downtown San Jose, I walked over to the PG&E building, with my bill in hand, and politely asked them "WTF?!" ... the customer service rep was really nice, very polite, asked me in an amused tone of voice "You didn't think your bills were a little too good to be true?" and seemed amused with my "You don't look a gift horse in the mouth?" response. She pulled up my account, and told me it was no problem, we could work out a repayment plan that was manageable with no interest charges in the meantime. It was sorted out in less than 10 minutes, with no attitude, no tears, and no fuss on either side. I was expecting a battle with them over it, I was expecting a real financial crunch trying to come up with all that money in one go (the same billing cycle that we were dealing with holiday bills too) - and instead I walked out with a smile on my face and plenty of time to take my lunch and sit under a tree for a bit with a book. :) Oh, and because it matters to me - PGE has put in place some GREAT programs for reducing energy usage, and being kinder on the environment. If you own your home, or have landlords willng to work with you to help the environment (and your monthly bills!), definitely check out all PG&E has to offer! read more

This should be PG&E's motto, regardless of whatever fine-dodging, responsibility shirking, look at our employees not our ridiculously greedy policies, fantasy delusion nonsense they're pushing now. First of all the PG&E location on Stockton is the one in downtown San Jose that shows up in Googlemaps as "Pacific Gas & Electric Company Services," but of course in their typical we-could-not-possibly-give-less-of-a-@$#% attitude, the sign that tells you that they will not (not cannot, will not) accept payments at this location is inside the front door. Once you have managed to locate the actual location on Almaden, *spoiler* it is literally downtown so no parking, annoyingly long walk from wherever you manage to park, plus the lovely open-sewer-on-a-hot-August-day aroma and ambiance. Once you arrive at the location, there is a security guard that seems solely to be guarding himself from having heart attack and only two people on duty at all, though only one is actually handling clients from the 6+ person line (the other seemed to be on an in-window break). The ONLY saving grace at all was that that one person seemed pretty competent and handled transactions quickly once you had navigated the mountain of &%^( PG&E seems to relish putting in your way. And of course, no public restroom because that might mistakenly give the impression that they give a flying @$#% about their customers, humanity, or anything but the c-c-c-c-cash. Actually wait, I think a more apt slogan might be "Being a monopoly is the only reason we're still in business at all." read more

What a garbage company. During the past couple days during A HEAT WAVE, massive power outages throughout the state. Are you serious, PG&E? My partner and I have a fresh water and salt water tank in our home. Woke up this morning to find power is STILL OUT, all of my salt water fish dead due to lack of oxygen and high temperatures, many corral dead, and one of my fresh water fish dead. I wasn't able to work today because, of course, my home has no electricity during a pandemic. Then middle of the day, sewage water starts to fill my bathtub and leak all over my floors. Needless to say, all the food in my refrigerator has to be thrown away. This is unacceptable. Their monopoly in CA needs to end. read more

NEVER EVER PAY BY PHONE at their general 800 number! They didn't get my phone payment beginning of the month, shows right in my acct I paid out that money w a confirmation number. On March 22nd they call saying our electricity will be shut off in 20-30 minutes!! What?! I immediately hit the number 1 to talk with someone but I was driving at the time. I really thought I had paid but couldn't look at my acct right away. So I pay w a late fee right away as I don't want my electricity cut off! I call and the "only" way to rectify this and get a refund is to do a "code" through Zelle. The code Larry White, ID number 4896, gives me is entered in the dollar amount! 1,389 even. I said what? It is showing I am going to send you $1,389?? He says yes but it won't come out of your acct, he promised. So I got his full name and ID number just in case. He says he has done this a thousand times etc.... Don't worry. Well....guess what? It did come out of our acct! Now it's almost $1800 total that came out of our acct for THEIR mistake. Then after waiting over an hour while they work on this, I am transferred to Larry's manager! I explain to him that now another 1,389 is out of my acct. I wasn't yelling but I didn't have a pleasant voice, who would after they just took $1800 from me?? He hangs up and no one calls me back. Just sickening!! Now I'm on the phone with BofA to stop these processing Zelle payments which I am not sure they can do. NEVER EVER PAY BY PHONE!' read more

On May 14th 2020, around 3:00pm,(Vehicle info, plate#: 45290P1, ID#: PC6263), PG&E employee, was driving on the wrong side of the road speeding, blocks my vehicle from moving, gets out as if to start a fist fight, and demands to know where our meters are. I explained they are on the side of each building. She demanded that I take her to them. I couldn't because I was working on an emergency, and told her there is nothing preventing her from seeing them. She then blackmailed me and said if I don't stop what I am doing, and walk her to them, that she will shut down service to the entire property. I left at that point. She then walked to the back of the building as my coworker told her the ground is not level. She then looks around, pretends to fall down, pats some dirt on herself, and then claims we should have warned her about the ground. She then pretends to limp back to her vehicle and another worker comes to replace her. I am pretty sure her intention is to fake an insurance or workmen's comp claim. I have never seen a worse behaved adult, and I don't know why PG&E allows their employees to act this way. And I will say "allows" because I called three different branches of PG&E, and everyone I spoke to was so dismissive and uncaring about the situation. read more
