I was referred to Dr. Holly Chang by a friend who absolutely sang her praises. Ironically, my friend ended up having her surgery done by a different surgeon--and after seeing my results, she told me she wished she had gone to Dr. Chang herself. From the very first consultation, I found Dr. Chang to be friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and generous with her time. She spent as long as I needed walking me through her recommendations and explaining what she felt would truly improve my appearance. I came in wanting to address droopy eyelids and to look more refreshed and youthful. Dr. Chang recommended an endoscopic brow lift, upper and lower blepharoplasty with fat repositioning, and fat transfer from my abdomen to my face. It was a four-hour surgery. The first few days of recovery were tough, but I healed surprisingly quickly and was back out in the world within about 10 days, with minimal bruising and swelling. The results have been amazing. My face looks exactly like me--just refreshed, rested, and more youthful. Nothing looks overdone or unnatural, which was very important to me. I had an upper blepharoplasty done 6 weeks ago performed by Dr. Chang. She did an amazing job and I was very pleased with the process from start to finish. She explained in detail the surgery, the recovery and the potential but rare side effects that can occur, so I went into surgery with my eyes wide open -:) (No pun intended). This is my 2nd follow up review. My vision and symptoms have continued to deteriorate. I requested an apology from Dr. Chang. None has been offered. Therefore, posting on social media is my only recourse. Dr. Chang has hurt me irreversibly by not explaining what the Mullerectomy, a surgery to address drooping eyelids, actually does. Her informed consent process was to give me a piece of paper with a long list of consequences, including blindness and death, to sign off on. AFTER Dr. Chang performed the surgery, at the 3 month follow up when I experienced burning, eyes and blurry vision, Dr. Chang told me that, in the process of cutting the eyelids, Meibomian glands are or could be destroyed. Meibomian glands produce the oil upon which your tears must lie in order not to evaporate. HAD SHE TOLD ME BEFORE, I could have made an informed decision. But I was not given that choice. I now have constantly inflamed, burning eyes, can no longer read or watch screens for more than half an hour (I am crying as I write), can not be outside in the wind, tolerate indoor heating, and have paid thousands of dollars and am continuing to pay thousands more. I have proof from Lipiscan imaging that all my Meibomian glands no longer function. My nerves around the eyes constantly fire as the tears evaporate immediately. As a result, I now have neurotrophic keratitis, hardening and numbing of the occular surface. I am afraid of eventually going blind. All this could have been avoided had she informed me prior to the surgery of the probably consquences of the Mullerectomy. Dr. Chang previously responded to my review that I should contact her to discuss my concerns, but she hired a lawyer who informed me that it was "improper" for me to contact Dr. Chang directly. Two lawyers I consulted have told me I have every right to contact Dr. Chang directly. Dr. Chang did not honor her statement that I could talk to her directly. She was not transparent with me before the surgery, told me the information AFTER the damage was done, and has gone back on her word to talk to me. Had she provided the apology I asked for, I would not be writing this. In her written denial of my earlier review, she says Meibomian gland dysfunction is unrelated to the surgery but common with dry eyes. She also said that it was probably related to my being menopausal! That felt dismissive, ageist, and patient blaming. If I indeed had dry eyes, and menopausal women are not good candidates, why didn't she tell me BEFORE the surgery? Since I paid out of pocket, I think the reader can make their own assumptions. read more

I had upper blepharoplasty done a few weeks ago by Dr. Chang, and I couldn't be happier with the results and the entire process from the initial consult, to the surgery to the post-op care. I went to Dr. Chang for lower eyelid surgery. I had it previously with another Dr. 15 years ago and due to some complications with recent cataract surgery, the thin skin under my eyes was stretched out of shape and developed new bags that did not go all the way across but instead formed as one large bag in the outer part of my lid and one bag on the inner part with a large hollow in between. This is because the original dr. only removed one of the three fat pads that are under my eye. It looked hideous to me and I couldn't look at myself in the mirror. Dr. Chang discussed many options with me and I decided on surgery to remove the fat pads and fill the hollows. At my second consult, Dr. Chang, knowing I wasn't crazy about another surgery as I had just been diagnosed with ocular rosacea and MGD, suggested I just have filler injected to smooth out the hollow in between the bags/bumps. When she showed me what it might look like I didn't think it was enough and wanted to go forth with the surgery. At the last minute (and after many, many questions), I chickened out because of the rosacea. I was afraid to take even normal surgical risks. She did the filler and I now have something I am able to live with at a savings of several thousand dollars and untold stress. It looks good...not as great as I would have if I did the surgery, but I far better than I expected. This Dr. has so much integrity and patience and is skilled beyond words. She knows precisely what she is doing, explained every movement step by step, and was far more concerned with helping me get what I wanted and ensuring my comfort than she was with upselling the most expensive procedure to me as has been my experience with so many others. I am so grateful for her gentle, caring treatment, her expertise and professionalism, and her honest assessments. Dr Chang performed surgery to correct drooping eyelids. She was thoroughly professional and explained the risks and benefits of the surgery. The procedure was skillfully done and I am completly pleased with the final result. I have dry eye issues and Dr Chang was particularly careful to not to agrivate that condition. I've seen Dr. Chang for a few years now -- starting after I weaned my firstborn. She has consistently been knowledgeable in her field and very skilled. With her help I am very happy with the way my face looks today -- less tired, less sunken but natural. The reason I'm a repeat patient is because she is VERY measured in her approach. I have had sessions where she had to tell me that additional Botox or filler wasn't necessary. And I'm glad I always take her advice because the results speak for it. I went to Dr. Chang for an upper blephoraplsty (double eyelid surgery) and had a great experience from start to finish. Dr. Chang is very meticulous, knowledgeable and skilled at her craft. Pre-surgery: Upon initial contact Dr. Chang was very responsive and I was able to get in quickly to see her. During the consult Dr. Chang thoroughly examined my eyes and seemed very knowledgeable about the eye anatomy and procedure. She listened to my concerns, answered all my questions and I felt immediately at ease with her. Surgery: I was able to schedule my surgery fairly quickly and within the timeframe I was looking for. I felt pretty nervous about it, but Dr. Chang put me at ease by answering all my many questions. As for the surgery itself, thankfully I can't remember a thing. Post-surgery: This is the period when you get the "complete picture" of a provider. Do they perform the procedure and then move on to the next patient? Or do they maintain contact with you and care about the outcome? I wasn't disappointed. Dr. Chang maintained regular communication with me and I had regular follow ups with her to monitor the healing progress. Additionally, I had a few miscellaneous eye issues/concerns that popped up and when I contacted her she immediately got me in to see her. For anyone undergoing this procedure (or any eye surgery), going to an oculoplastic / oculofacial plastic surgeon is imperative. When you have questions or issues that come up pre surgery/during surgery/post-surgery, you will appreciate why you need to have someone with the right expertise. I also had a neurotoxin consult with Dr. Chang and tried some injections. She was very knowledgeable about the various product options and also seems to have a conservative approach, which I like. I really appreciated her honesty pre and post procedure. Often times, there are many things we would like to "fix" about ourselves that may or may *not* be realistically achieved. So it's really nice to have a doctor who's a straight shooter. Other kudos for Dr. Chang: Her office is immaculate (and pretty). She is PUNCTUAL - I had approximately 10 visits with her and she was always on time or early. Her office staff is great as well. In summary, I feel fortunate to have connected with Dr. Chang. My eye doctor at Evergreen Health said that my drooping eyelids were restricting my vision , making it dangerous to drive and see well. Also I looked as if I were half asleep everyday. . Dr. Chang is an extremely skilled surgeon and a lovely person. I have been receiving Botox injections for the past year from her and am very pleased with the results. I hadn't realized how my jawline had changed over the past few years due to clenching my teeth while sleeping. It was progressively becoming more square over time. Dr. Chang brought this to my attention and I when I looked at older photographs, it was definitely noticeable. After receiving three treatments of Botox to my left and right masseter muscle, my jawline looks much softer and more feminine. Dr. Chang also treated the fine lines on my forehead and around my eyes. The cosmetic results are wonderful. If only a good night of sleep would produce the same results that she does!
