I am very disappointed in this smog station. They told me I need to take it to a star station. I took it to a star station and they failed my small check because of a visual and referred me to a referee so state they had to call me and see what's going on and they told me that that they don't understand why Pacific small refer me to a star station where I could take my vehicle to any smog place. I took it to a Little place in Castroville and they passed it. Not sure what kind of business specific small is doing give me the runaround. The are walk-in and have no appointments. I was concerned about not having an appointment but I walked in on a Thursday afternoon and there was only one person in the lobby. There are a a good amount of chairs inside where you can wait while they are doing the inspection. It took less than 15 minutes for them to complete my inspection and I was out the door. I have a vehicle that had a check engine light on that also needed smogged, I got the check engine light resolved by a repair shop which required, after the repair, the clearing all the old fault codes. I took my vehicle to Pacific Smog, explained all the above to the guy at the counter - come back 20-minutes later and he says the vehicle could not be smogged due to the clearing of the fault codes as if that is a known issue - which he failed to tell me at drop-off when I had informed him they had just been cleared. It gets worse, he charges me $47.00 for a full inspection when he knew ahead of time that it would not pass... and yes, I am desputing it with my credit card company! I clearly did not request nor authorize any additional inspections of my vehicle. And not to pile on here, the guy kept saying The $47 was for an inspection, but not a smog inspection. So they had the vehicle for about 15-minutes at $47, that would mean their "inspections hourly labor rate" is $188 an hour for an inspection - looking at the car... Spot the trend... read more

These guys are great. I've been going to them for a while, my whole family does. I tried getting there as soon as they opened to be the first, ended up maybe 10-15 minutes passed, and pulled up to a packed waiting room and full parking lot. I was already mentally rearranging my schedule and asked out of curiosity how long? The nice man at the cash register said 20. I would like to provide a 5 star review, even though Pacific Smog did not work on my vehicle. My son attends CSUMB and has one of my vehicles with him. My car registration is always due in November which results in my wife & I needing to take a trip down from Northern California to the Monterey Bay area during October ( oh the horror ) to get the registration stickers on vehicle. This year the vehicle needed to get smogged and I recalled the quick & simple process when using Pacific Smog a few years before for the same situation. When I walked in with my vehicle registration, Pacific Smog quickly pointed out that I needed a STAR smog test which they did not perform. I shared I was from out of the area and needed to get the smog test done that day. Pacific Smog already had some preprinted flyers with two near by STAR smog stations with their address, phone numbers and distance from Pacific Smog. I appreciated the extra efforts Pacific Smog does to assist others, even when we can't be their customers. read more

I was so happy from the minute I got there and Kristian so kind and his warming smile just made my day.I sat down to delete stuff on my phone ( Because that's whet I do when sitting around) I deleted 2 things and bam they were already done. So uber fast I was shock. The gentlemen in the back are just as great, always making the effort especially if your car didn't pass and they see you might be a little bummed They explain why and what would be the best fix to get it to pass next time you come back in. Brought my out of state 2023 car to get smogged. The guy behind the desk was very rude and abrupt and asked for the registration. Well, in Texas the official registration is the sticker on the car. I said, "come on out and take a look". "No. Where is your title?" I answered, "that is not required to smog a car, only a current registration which I have. I'll go out and take a picture of it since you won't to outside". Came back in with a pic of my sticker that says on it Texas Registration. He rudely says he can't use this he needs more information. "Like what else do you need? the VIN number is right on the car. I have my license with my name." He again rudely said "bring me the title". I replied my sticker was good enough at your competitor (Clean Air) for my other car but they are not open Friday afternoons.. He then ignored me. Summary: Super rude and unhelpful. Very poorly managed by owner. I called yesterday for an appointment since it says RVs need an appointment. I have a 22 ft RV with a VW Transporter Utility van cab and chassis. The woman I spoke with asked me to wait, then came back and said an appointment was not necessary for this RV. I arrived, explained at checkin the vehicle I had, and was given a paper agreeing to sign the usual fee for a car or van. The car was brought into the shop. Ten minutes later, I was called to the desk to pay a fee 90% higher "because it was an RV." I've had the vehicle smog checked at two other facilities for the usual car/van fee The first Pacific Smog contact who I described the make, model and size an appointment. The second at the shop business desk knew the Vin # and vehicle year and model, yet had me agree to pay the basic rate. I assumed the worker who came to the business desk did not realize the cab and chassis was a standard VW product. As it turned out, he was the owner/worker who had no time or interest in communicating. He told me they would smog check for the usual fee plus 90%. I deliberated for about 15 seconds, then he said I'm pulling it out. I think it is great he is an owner-worker, but he needs to learn to manage his staff or hire a manager and staff trainer. Perhaps he just selectively tries to charge more for well-maintained small Rvs. Either way , I lost over an hour in my busy, he lost a local customer. read more

I was looking for a smog check facility that was both convenient and efficient. Pacific Smog turned out to be the fastest, most efficient, experience I've ever had on a smog check. You bring in your DMV registration invoice along with current miles to the front desk, then the technician (wearing mask and gloves) drives your car into the bay to perform the tests. Before you even have time to catch up on your social media they are calling you back to say the test is done. There was no one ahead of me so that helps.
