The views were excellent and the food quality was good. However, I went to lunch there hoping to eat high quality seafood. I was disappointed that the only thing available was salmon, fish and chips, or seared tuna. No entrees were listed. I asked the waiter what the specials were or what was the catch of the day was. He stated there wasn't any. My wife and I finish our lunch and head out. On my way out I notice a list of seafood available? I ask about it and I'm told the waiters are not supposed to tell you about the available seafood. What kind of restaurant does that? To make matters even worse, my wife hurts her finger on a chair (chairs are old). The waiter acted disinterested. Overall, the food (that they tell you about) and view were good. I've rounded up from 3 1/2 stars actually, due to disappointment in the main course. Great drinks - had the grapefruit martini and my husband had the blackberry cocktail. Enjoyed the Brussels sprouts side as our appetizer - very abundant for two people. We shared the sea bass for a main course. As others have noted, it is quite bland and uninteresting. I only wanted to order it because I thought reviewers would surely be wrong. I never am disappointed when I order sea bass, but I sure was with this. Also, the rice that came with it was cold. Atmosphere is very light. One is the best views in Del Mar Dining. Food is consistently good. My favorite is the Açaí bowl. Generous portion and full of flavor. I can do without the dogs lounging around as they can be loud and bark a bit too much. If they are big dogs, they tend to use the only space left for customers to find their table. Leaves small walking space around the dining area. Otherwise , it's a pleasant place. read more

For the price point of this restaurant, I was not very impressed. The service was great, five stars easily. We had a reservation for dinner and were seated right away followed by an immediate greeting by our server. We had mussels as an appetizer and they were very good, by far the best part of the meal. For entrees we had the Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi and the Pan Roasted Seabass. The Seabass was better than the mahi, the rice underneath was very good. The mahi was bad. The crusting was clunky and almost too hard to break with your teeth. The way that the fish was cooked made it almost slimy and difficult to eat. I was very disappointed by this dish, especially with the price of it. There are so many restaurants in the Del Mar area that are the same or lower price points that are much better. We will not be back to Pacifica. read more

Came for brunch with the girls. Beautiful view! Ordered a cinnamon brioche French toast. I would have liked more sweet brunch options or even better, a sweet and savory option. Clean and great service. Since I got there first, I got to pick where to sit. When choosing a spot to sit, I like how Caleb forewarned me that it gets hot by the window when sun comes out more. We had reservations for 7:00 p.m. got here at 6:50 we're seated promptly they took our appetizer order and it was delivered in timely manner about 15 to 20 minutes we then ordered our main course which took close to an hour to come to our table. The reason why they had a large party in their private dining room and were more focused on that than the rest of the customers in the restaurant. The location is great. The hostesses are horrible. I arrived 30min early checked in and was not seated on time. They were rude when my date asked if we could be moved as they gave us a table that was not great. The food was good but not worth the cost. Mediocre food and unfriendly hostess make for a not great experience. The waiter did a great job so I won't give them a one star. Intended to come here for happy hour while my girlfriend was at the salon in the same plaza. I missed happy hour on Sunday and got stuck with the lunch menu. We ended up sharing the crispy calamari, flat iron steak, and a salmon salad. We sat outside because we had our dog with us, but didn't have a great view cause we can't sit out there with dogs apparently. The view does seem great when eating on the main patio. The section we sat at was dead. The food was okay, but nothing memorable. The calamari was just okay, my steak was lacking, and the salad... just okay. Overall, if you were just looking for a quick bite and drink while you're waiting for your girl at the salon, look elsewhere. read more

This place has all of the elements of a delicious dining experience. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Beautiful views. Diverse cocktail and wine list. Our table started with calamari (two delicious sauces), clam chowder (good ratio of potatoes and clams), shrimp cocktail. Entrees were all loved - halibut, tuna, bouillabaisse. Superb desserts too. I really was excited to go to this place. All of the pictures of the food just looks so good and everybody wrote such amazing reviews. But I've come to realize that what people who grew up here in San Diego like versus what I like is vastly different. I ordered what seems to be the most popular dish on the menu which is their sugar spice verlasso salmon. Okay I understand that it says sugar spiced but I thought it meant it would be just slightly sweet with a nice spicy aftertaste. Instead it was more like eating sugared salmon. It was so sweet. So incredibly sweet. And I don't like my fish to taste like dessert. So I ended up not eating it. We also got a bowl of calamari. It wasn't bad but it was incredibly salty so we ended up only eating some of it. The good thing is that on Mondays in June lunch is buy one get one free. So that was a happy surprise because they were six of us. And our waiter was good although I don't remember his name. Would I go back here? Pretty good opportunity to give it a try for the first time and hoped it would deserve our revisits. 1) the location is good, one level higher than their other casual Cafe, with nice view. Ideal for out of town visitors. 2) Service was excellent: from our waitress Taylor to all the other staff around 3) food: we tried calamari as appetizer-the batter was too thick and heavy, yet the squid inside was not tender. My pasta came with generous portion of small shrimps, artichoke, and pesto. However there was not much of taste to speak of! Oct. 3rd I had a hip replacement and I took an Uber to Pacifica from my Timeshare on October 19th to have dinner before leaving the next morning. After arriving at Pacifica, I discovered my phone was missing. I was in pain and distraught. I knew that I had dropped it in the Uber auto. Rented the gallery room at Pacifica for a private event. The room is gorgeous. Stunning really. The wait staff was attentive. The appetizers were excellent - everyone raved about them. A few people complained that their fish was undercooked, but overall the entrees were good. Planning the event was a little frustrating because it regularly took Pacifica several days to respond to my emails, but everything worked out in the end. read more

Love this restaurant! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the terrible waiter we had this time . He didn't give us the specials , didn't come to check on us , my husband wanted more wine with his dinner but the waiter never came by and we ended up not ordering the extra wine. Before serving the dessert he didn't clean the crumbs from the table the way any other waiter or waitress in Pacifica Del Mar will do. Beautiful scenery, great service, romantic ambiance, well balanced menu. Pacifica had everything a group of gal pals needed to have a good time. There were 5 of us dining on this visit and 3 of us had already been here before. This was my first visit and it was really nice! We shared a bottle of house cabinet and 4 of us shared plates. My gal pal and I shared the branzino. This was my first branzino experience and it was a little bony, but I was warned about that. The dish was delicious. We have been dining at Pacifica Del Mar for over 20-30 years. And the food has been very good up until last night...New Years Eve. They had a fixed menu which was $65 per person so I think when you're paying that much for food it should be exceptional. Well it was horrible. We both ordered the Sea Bass which was absolutely loaded with grease. We even tried putting the fish on the side of the plate in hope that the butter and oil would run off but it didn't. The sea bass was just done, perfectly pan seared with a nice crust and that melting flaky inside that only comes with serious attention to detail as it was just done, a minute longer would have been too long. The chef timed it absolutely perfectly. The flavor of the curry complimented but did not overwhelm and the rice and bok choy were also executed well. The ahi was seared on the outside, nicely rare on the inside, with the soy glaze. Service was attentive and unobtrusive, letting our table conversation engage. I wish there were 6 stars to give because Pacifica Del Mar deserves every bit and more! The ambiance, service, and food were extraordinary! Starting from being greeted by hostess to paying the bill: the experience has been outstanding. We are sure that a big part of our pleasant dining experience was partly due to our waitstaff, Anne. She was spot with recommendations and extremely friendly. The food was top notch incredible! We ordered the mussels in coconut milk and had it with the olive bread, which was an Anne recommendation; totally delectable! Since it was our first time we tried their special 3 for $30 and had the seared scallops and catfish. Both were scrumptious but doesn't top the mussels. The salads that came with specials were fresh and delicious! The magnificent part of this all is the view. Perfect meal, great service, and stunning view--what more you can you ask for? Very much disappointed with our lunch visit. The place is showing it's age. The outside carpet is gross. Still using the original Bissel hand sweeper to manage the dirt and food crumbs. Had a turkey burger, fries and a Caesar salad with Salmon (add on). The burger was acceptable - but it's a burger - hard to screw it up. The Caesar was horrible. Dressing was bland, no shaved parm cheese on top, no spices, no nothing. Just simply basic and bland. And the Salmon was one of the tiniest pieces I've ever seen, super cold and non inspirational. Probably the worst attempt at a Caesar salad I've seen in years. All this for $50! Like I said, very disappointing, and the place has aged. Better luck next time. read more

The margaritas weren't the best. They said they have agave, but unfortunately I couldn't really taste it. Not much salt on mine, boyfriend got it all (haha). Both dishes tasted amazing. We scarfed down their calamari without grabbing a pic unfortunately. The Vietnamese dipping sauce that accompanied the calamari wasn't my favorite, but it was okay. Took my family out on 8/13/24 to Pacifica to celebrate a birthday. Parking garage was full, so I dropped off my guests while I continued to hunt for a parking space. I circled the parking garage several times looking for a space (along with many other drivers) then left and searched the neighborhood for a pay lot (none) or street parking (none), then returned to the garage two more times and finally got a parking space 1 hour later, while my family waited in the restaurant for me. Turns out the garage was full because there was a nearby free outdoor summer concert and concertgoers had parked in the Pacifica garage. Management did nothing to provide a valet, parking security or otherwise reserve parking for the restaurant guests. At a minimum, Pacifica should have warned me about the parking situation at the time of my reservation so I could book a table with someone else. My recommendation to you -- find another restaurant. On top of that, the service was slow even though less than half the tables were full. read more

Best restaurant in San Diego and my favorite now. Just recently tried Pacifica for the first time after a recommendation from my friend Don, and I gotta say, he was not wrong. Stunning view of the ocean and great food. The staff was outstanding and polite. Checked on us multiple times and made us feel at home. Love the atmosphere and I will be coming back regularly. I got the filet mignon and my girlfriend got the branzino and both were delicious. The calamari and the Brussels sprouts are a crowd favorite I'll tell you that much. Food is not overpriced which is one of the best parts. If your looking for a great view, good people and a killer meal, this is the spot. read more

Came in this restaurant tonight with my small well behaved service dog seated the 3 of us on the patio. Gal asked to see my dogs service tags. I said they were in my car along with my handicapped plack (no need to weigh my purse down). After 5 minutes she comes back saying "ok you can stay but your dog can't bark or move, has to sit under the table at all times, and we won't bring any water for it. And yr not allowed to feed it. If any of these things happen, you will be expelled immediately. Not giving one cent to such rude unaccommodating people or establishment. Needless to say we left and enjoyed a wonderful meal at the nearby Peruvian restaurant where they were wonderfully professional and welcomed my dog. I would not recommend Pacifica to anyone, with or without a dog. read more
