Attached to the hotel Indigo. The bar area and outdoor space is very nice. Bartender is friendly and I've always had good food here. I eat here for breakfast every time I stay here and breakfast is always fresh and good. Definitely worth eating here if you at the hotel. read more

We stayed at the Hotel Indigo Del Mar, we're the grill is located inside. I had reserved the room with breakfast vouchers which turned out a bit different than I thought. We woke up early during our stay and made it to breakfast without worry. Food itself was good no complaints, or raves but had no problems and is convenient if you're staying in the hotel. Otherwise I do think there are a lot of other good restaurants in the area to try for breakfast as well. Our breakfast vouchers covered the meal but didn't cover the taxes which I found odd. Other places it's all covered and you just have to make sure to leave a tip but whatever. Our servers for all the days were all very nice & offered great service! read more

This restaurant is inside Indigo hotel in Del Mar, we love the happy hour not only because of the price but the food was really good. I this we ordered everything from the happy hour menu besides the caesar salad. We started with cauliflower taco and grilled brussel sprouts then we git the hummus served with celery, carrots and pita bread also has tostada with beans and chorizo. All of them were so good but my favorite was the brussel sprouts with small pieces of pork belly. Our waiter was Chris and he was not only nice but very entertaining and knowledgeable. The bar has open entry overlooking the outdoor patio with a nice view of the inside center of the hotel, pool, and a view of the ocean. This place was not that busy the Saturday early evening I came by as it is probably mainly just hotel guests here. I had a margarita which was made well and refreshing to enjoy outside. My gf and I decided to try this place because we were visiting SD from the Bay Area. We know about this place because of the travelzoo deal, so we bought it for dinner for 2. We made reservation ahead of time and referenced the travelzoo deal. This restaurant is located inside the Indigo Hotel, next to the lobby. It has a bar with seating inside and outside. When we arrived there were decent amount of people sitting at the bar, inside, and outside. There was a guy singing and playing his guitar live. Not sure if he was hired by the place or just one of the customers. Our server, Brace, seated us and proceeded to explain the menu and what was included in the travelzoo deal (appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts). The food was amazing. Much better than I was expected from a hotel. Also, per the menu, the ingredients are organic. The foods dotaste really fresh. The service was great. Later in the night, more people came to dinner with the travelzoo deal too. Services got slower due to limited staff (3 -1 bartender, 2 servers). I suggest you make reservation for earlier dinner between 6:30 - 7:30pm. The hotel has 10 - 12 parking spaces in the front, but it does get full really fast. I don't mind eating here again if we are visiting nearby. read more

Breakfast food we got is pretty good but it would be nice if the hours it says you are open was fixed.. I went over at 10:55AM to grab a coffee and some jelly for my toast and they were already closed. My friend had just brought back the food within the hour so I thought they would at least be open till 11AM. Maybe I just missed him, I'm not sure. I know the nice lady at the front had said they are open only breakfast and dinner but I'm just really confused on what hours that pertains to and it says on here ur open all day. read more

When nature calls it calls loud and clear! That was pretty much the reason for having an impromptu lunch here. I was walking along the 2 mile stretch between torrey pines beach and downtown del mar and Hotel Indigo was the only place around with public facilities. Ocean View Bar and Grill is essentially just a hotel bar/lounge but it reminds me of how lucky I am to live in SD. The ocean view (see photo) is pretty basic, but being only a few steps from the coast, youre close enough to feel like youre on vacation. The warmth of the sun coupled with the cool coastal breeze--thats my happy place. The inviting patio makes you wanna sprawl out on the furniture and read a book. The waiter/bartender/host was awesome, he had that genuine friendliness where it was easy to talk to him. I was absolutely blown away by their Fish Tacos. Better than Rubios and every reputable hole in the wall mexican joint ive been to in Cali. Fish is fresh ahi tuna, perfectly cooked in beer batter. Not too greasy. Fresh ingredients and flavorful aioli sauce thats not too mayonaissy and overwhelming that it overpowers the fish. If you dont like spicy i recommend getting it to the side to be safe. $13 is pricey but its worth it considering the ambiance and exceptional service. If I lived or worked in the area Id frequent this place. Good alternative to a cafe to lounge and read a book. ADDL TIPS - the bar high tables have outlets - Dog friendly!!! Not sure what's worse. The food or the food. Oh wait... it's the food. Seriously... ugh! 1. Kitchen says it closes at 9. 8pm order a bottle of wine. Never are we visited again. 8:40 I get up and ask what time the kitchen closes because... we'll her we are staying here and want to eat dinner... Quote "oh the kitchen closed because well we were out of things. Also it was last call". Don't you go table to table and ask if anyone needs/wants anything before you close? Asking for a friend. 2. Agrees to "put in a last minute order" but here are your only choices. We agree to our only choices... asada tacos are requested with no aioli. Come drenched in aioli. Bring them back with only cold stale tortillas. 3. Our waiter is seriously awesome. So lovely so nice. Feels like he's not in control but doing his amazing best to make it a great night. 4 others and myself had a Mother's Day lunch at Ocean View Bar & Grill. We chose OVB&G because it is very dog friendly and there was a deal offered on travelzoo. The voucher says it is not valid on holidays but after calling ahead we were told it would be ok to use it then. Our service was lagging. It took around 20 minutes to receive our beverages while the restaurant was not very busy. Overall the food was pretty good overall aside from my moms eggs not being cooked as requested and my chicken was overcooked. This is a nice place to eat at if you have a dog with you. The restaurant could use another umbrella outside especially if the service is as slow as our experience. 3.5 stars. read more

The menu is awesome. I'm a local and like to pop in for a drink or snack after work and wait out the traffic. The cocktails are fun, they have about a dozen bottled beers, hard cider and various wines. Their shrimp tacos and fish tacos are my favorite. The sliders are tasty too! Cute fire pits outside where you can watch the sun set. It's a little quiet, but hopefully things pick up for them. It's very cute and modern. read more

The hotel looks very nice, however the grill was terrible. Service was horrible and they even add their own 20% gratuity onto the bill. I understand COVID and all, but you need to let the patrons decide what to give and didn't even mention they were doing this. At least have a sign up or have the server mention ahead of time. What an awesome restaurant. Attached to the Indigo Hotel, this beautiful little bar and grill serves up some of the some delicious food I've had while at a hotel. I took advantage of the Yelp Check-In offer while I was here and got the mediterranean flatbread pizza... get this only if you LOVE LOVE LOVE olives!! I also go the kale salad with a side of salmon. Delicious food and the kale wasn't over powering. Great views of the ocean. Easy to find and parking is free. Double check the events calendar because there may even be some live music going on too! read more

Not a review of the attached and absolutely wonderful hotel indigo. This restaurant is in a beautiful facility and location. So on 5/18/2017 Evening ... We sat down and chatted for about 10 minutes during which no employee serviced the patio area. Several tables were there, a family was across from us with half eaten food and completely empty drinks obviously looking for refills ... first warning. We got sick of waiting walked inside 10ft away and saw a waiter/buser? with his back turned towards us and did not turn around from rolling silverware and napkins. After that we saw the bartender who was working over some chick by herself at the bar and did not even turn his head when we walked up towards him and then out to another business ... hope you slayed it dog! I feel bad for the restaurant owner and the money you are losing. read more

Don't come here at least not during covid. Came for breakfast. Service left a lot to be desired. Ordered two eggs, sausage and potatoes. 30 minutes later I received a plate with two eggs(cooked fairly well to their credit), small sausages and tater tots that could have only been frozen and from a bag(probably ore-ida). Way too expensive for the quality. The table was wobbly which could easily have been remedied with a wooden block. Music was loud and obnoxious. One song even had explicit language. Their website showed pictures of their food and it looked much different in reality. Not sure if this restaurant is always like this or if I had a particularly bad experience because of the pandemic. Still not a good enough excuse for poor service and overpriced and not very good food. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the Ocean View Bar and Grill. I know it's California but the view was in the distance, so the name can be a lil misleading. Located inside the Indigo hotel. Other than that I have only good things to say about the place. Well appointed decor and extremely clean. The staff is sweet and attentive. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. They do not offer lunch, open for breakfast and dinner only. Drink menu specials were great, the Moscow mule minus the mug was Excellent, but not much of a special at $12 a pop, but it is Del Mar and a hotel, so I'm ok with it. We opted to eat breakfast in each day (3) because how well it was prepared. I had the pancakes with bananas and chocolate chips day one, sometimes pancakes are way too dense, these were excellent. Day 2 was a loaded omelet prepared light and fluffy not over stuffed, I ate the whole thing I never eat the whole thing. Stopped in for a few drinks in the evening, they offered live music. It was a piano player, light and bluesy. Did not care for the buffalo wings way too saucy for me but my other half gobbled them up. He liked has burger and had no complaints. We did not order entrees for dinner because they had a limited choice, but I am sure they would be acceptable based on our other meal options we enjoyed. They have a better view from the outdoor dining deck if you want to peek at the ocean. I liked the Ocean view grill. read more

We had a great experience at Ocean View Bar and Grill when we stayed at Hotel Indigo Del Mar. We ate dinner and breakfast there and had drinks. We had the street tacos and quesadillas and they were delish. Breakfast was excellent too. Margaritas were yummy and they pour a strong drink. Our server was Jordan and he was fantastic. Holy moley, this place sucks. There was no hostess (or host) to greet us as we entered the "restaurant," which actually consisted of no more than a few semi-circular booth-tables inside a bar. After standing there feeling lame for a few minutes (while we looked at all the unbussed tables), we walked over to the bar and asked to be seated. The bartender said he "thought" there was a waiter somewhere, but he had disappeared to "the back." We first tried to sit out on the patio, but as it was a bit chilly, we asked if they could turn on the patio heaters. We were informed that they were "out of propane." So, we went back inside and sat down at a dirty table (no other choice) and waited. Despite the fact that we were two of only 14 people in the entire restaurant (a party of 8 and a very disgruntled family of 4, who could be heard complaining in quiet tones of the fact that it had been 15 minutes since they'd asked for their bill), we waited 10 minutes before we even saw a menu, which I had to ask for. When the bartender (doubling as waiter, since his colleague never did materialize from "the back") finally came by and asked what we wanted, we asked for 2 glasses of Zinfandel. What he brought us 10 minutes later tasted like vinegar. I was afraid to complain, lest it occasion yet another delay, but we could hardly drink that slop. So, I rather timidly indicated our displeasure. The bartender/waiter said he would replace the wine, but then gave us no choice on the replacement; he simply brought another 2 glasses of bad wine. When, at our request, one of the dirty tables was finally bussed (by our bartender/waiter/busboy), we sat down and waited another 10 minutes before the same guy came and took our order. I wanted to order the steak, but the waiter "didn't remember" what kind of steak it was (WTF? Seriously?). So, I skipped the steak and we ordered salmon and "cioppino pasta." We also ordered the cheese plate. 20 minutes passed. Finally, the waiter-cum-busboy explained to us that the kitchen was "really backed up because of room-service orders," so it would be another 10 minutes before we would see our cheese plate. Seriously? I mean, how much time does it take to throw some cheese chunks onto a board?! The cheeseboard arrived some 10 minutes later as promised (by now we'd been in this depressing and maddening establishment for an hour), but it was sans the fig preserves promised on the menu. When I brought this to the attention of the waiter, he frowned applogetically and explained that the kitchen was "out of a lot of stuff tonight." So, we just ate the cheese. The waiter did try to make up for it by giving us a complimentary salad, but a free salad is a poor substitute for the thing you actually wanted. The entrees came hard on the heels of the appetizer (we weren't even halfway through it). And now we come to the only reason this place got 2 stars instead of 1: the salmon was delicious. Perfectly cooked, with a delicately seasoned crust and set atop firm-crisp grilled vegetables. My "cioppino pasta" was tasty, but a good half of the mussels remained unopened in their shells and had to be discarded. Can't comment on the desserts, because we had to take them to go, as it was and hour and forty-five minutes since we'd arrived and we were exhausted. We had one of those Travelzoo vouchers where you pay $45 for a supposed $100 value. But this sorry experience was not even worth even the $45 we paid. Not even. Went there for dinner. The service was great. The food was NOT!! Calamari appetizer seemed to be like it was frozen. Waste of calories. My seafood and pasta was fair, as the tomato white wine sauce seemed to be more like something out of a can. My date's salmon was unevenly cooked, and she complained the vegetables were drown in butter. The cheesecake was artificial tasting and terrible. My date even said it looked bad. Her chocolate cake was mediocre at best. I will never eat there again. Not worth it. I know of many better taco shops for much less money. read more

Brace was wonderful and provided excellent service. The atmosphere is relaxing and tasteful. We live in the Village of Del Mar. . . Our neighbor invited us to dinner tonight and all three of us were horrified by our dinner. The chef should be shot for even calling what's on the menu flatbread. it's on par with airline food, but the worst one's ever had. The flatbread was a cold, long biscuit and the toppings were horrible. It's not even a flatbread. The cheese plate with bread -- the bread was so rubbery, it must have been toasted yesterday and stored in the refrigerator overnight and served to us for dinner tonight! The bread was so rubbery, we got the giggles because we thought we were going to break our teeth on it!! The cheese is a very poor quality, but our dogs loved it :) The fish tacos looked unappetizing and were flavorless, and the chips on the side are the caliber of grocery store chips - ha . The calamari was only slightly better than the flatbread. Our neighbor was so embarrassed for taking us. We kept laughing and telling her, "It's okay, this meal is so bad, it's funny." The hotel is super dog friendly. ANd, if you bring your dog, you get happy hour all night. Not even low prices and being dog friendly would ever, ever get me to go back and eat at Hotel Indigo. We order of the full menu, because the happy hour menu selection is a pathetic selection for the price. What a shame. We ended up going outside sitting by the fire pit Kevin came out and lit it up for us and we really enjoyed our time there we will be back again we live here in San Diego and a friend of ours were staying there so we decided to go and check out the hotel which is very very upscale and clean boutique hotel! Just went here for a margarita. It was pretty good, but $12! Little too steep for my blood. This looks like the kind of place that businessmen go to talk after work. Nice enough, but the Decor is not really to my taste - lots of big pictures of old movie stars and horse racing. Definitely strong beach vibe. I had my son's first birthday party at Ocean View Bar & Grill this past wknd and it was a smashing success. They were gracious enough to keep the restaurant open for my party of 12 ppl during hours that the restaurant is normally closed, so we were lucky enough to have the restaurant to ourselves and full command of the terrace. Raina, the sales coordinator, helped plan a pre-fixe menu and arrange a cake and was on-site day of helping. Jordan, the restaurant manager, was a star--he even went above and beyond and helped us decorate. Guests raved about the service, the food, and the beautiful venue/views.
