We live locally, and visit often. We usually find it decent, and sometimes really good ~ kind of hit or miss. Most of what I would say about the food has already been written, but I do want to put in a plug for the family-friendliness of the place. The owner is a bit of a grump with adults, but he is always friendly to our 2 year old, and takes him to look at the fish as soon as we walk in. My son used to be a little afraid of him, but now looks forward to going and seeing "the fish guy." I will be trying the ginger ale after reading the reviews, but also want to recommend the coconut palm juice. It's bottled, with no sweeteners or preservatives, just really yummy juice! read more

I called for pick up order, first the lady on the phone told me a different price as on the menu (higher obviously), after I told them what I price I saw, she adjusted with no problems. When I picked up the food, I approached two workers, a very old man, who didn't even greeted, didn't say anything besides the price for the food I ordered. Tired of chain tasting thai? Wow, what a nice change of taste ! This place has home cooked home made fresh and flavorful written all over it. What you'll be treated with is dishes that are heavy on the ginger, which I love. if you don't, just stay away from entrees that include this aromatic and soothing herb. Standouts include the BBQ chicken. Nope, not like you get at other places. This BBQ is marinated in coconut turmeric sauce that's to die for and he portion is HUGE, easily feeds a family of 4. 2000 year soup (perfect on a cold day or if you have a cold :-... but only if you like ginger).Oh yeah, great prices here by the way. We 4 left with appetizer, 2 entrees and dessert for under $30. Where else can you get thai like this! What else to rave about? There's more seafood selections here than any other thai restaurant any where and it's super fresh! I have to try the salmon next time. And definitely try some curry, cuz it's takes a home made touch to get that just right and this place has homemade written all over it. The veggies are cooked just right, crispy, not soggy. The entrees err on the sweet side, hence the 4 stars. The desserts didn't impress. About the older gentleman, he's the dad and owner and no, he's not as grumpy as he looks. We grabbed take out and ate it at the amazing Pacifica bowling alley, Sea Bowl, who allows you to bring in outside food. Everything was excellent! Everything! They also gave us a free bag of homemade shrimp chips which my kids adored! Such a fun food. read more

Pacifica Thai has really good food, and a very nice Thai Iced Tea. The people complaining about the older man are just missing out on a special person. He has a funny way about him that the regulars GET and appreciate him. He will have recomendations for the day and in general and his recommendations always are good. Zero star for customer service. I had the grumpiest old man you could ever imagine. I must have interrupted is TV show. He did not speak the whole time. He charged a dollar more for beef instead of duck. I turned to him for the bill to be picked up and I received the dirtiest look. Gave me five dollar bills change. Wishful thinking!! If they wish to have sit down service they should probably use a different server and leave him in front of the the TV. FOOD. Not like I remember it from 12 years ago and it was take away. Less flavor, that could be due to the environment. Died fruit fly on my plate. And hair in curry. But a huge portion which made up for the extra dollar. I can't recommend it ;-( read more

Food is amazing. Came here with the family and had a great time with great food. The owner is quite the character but very sweet over all. He picked on my younger brother the whole time but would bring him candy and chips throughout our stay. The veggie tofu soup was warming. Love the yellow curry, very tasty. Service was slow and rude and argumentative. Glasses were dirty. Meals were bland but OK. I just went here on a Groupon with my family and was horrified at the dining experience. I almost don't know where to start. The waiter never spoke to us until he brought the check then suddenly revealed to us that he was capable of speech! Up until the check, his communication was in grunts. Seriously. He grunted every response to us in unintelligible ... grunts. We had to ask three times for water, which finally came 35 minutes into the meal in dirty glasses. My glass had a greasy orange film inside and floaters. We had to ask twice for rice and twice for the check. The waiter argued that our Groupon could not be used with curries or noodles or seafood or rice dishes... but only ENTREES (as distinguished by the "Entree" heading in the menu. Seriously?! So we tried to order Pad Thai and a yellow curry for our Groupon dinner and he kept grunting and pointing to the Entree section of the menu. Ugh. I would not return even for free food. It was so unpleasant. As for the food - it was ok. Nothing memorable but also not horrifying like the service. read more

So I walk in and first thing I notice is it smells like stale feet. The one host, server, and apparently menu consultant seats you by pointing to a table. Speaking is obviously too much for him. But he can cough super loud all over everything and that's fine... I order 'spring rolls' he brings me egg rolls. I say I ordered spring rolls. Then he proceeds to lecture me about how all places call egg rolls and spring rolls the same thing. As I look around like, is this guy serious? He raises his voice about how I don't know anything. Don't be upset by the owner/older guy who works here (I know that he's an acquired taste but trust me he's such a good guy and its simply the way he is.. he's not being grumpy to chase you away, I promise)... Dammit...still can't find the perfect Thai place. not exactly 'Cuisine', either. and this one doesn't even approach being above average, just on the subpar service alone. would be rated higher if the server was a little more attentive and not given me a dirtier glass than the one I asked to be replaced. the deep fried prawn rolls and corn cakes with garlic and red pepper flake dip were tasty as appetizers. my buddy's bbq pork was very good & I liked my deep fried whole pompano fish, topped with mushroom ginger chili sauce (Pla-piset). we both ordered brown rice to go along with the meals. not sure if i'd come back, but it's alongside the coast in Pacifica and doesn't get too crowded, so maybe it's worth a repeat visit. read more

Went early at 4:30pm, was starving, we were the only ones there, so expected quick service and got it. Really nice family run place, the old grumpy guy was in the back helping to cook, so the mom was the hostess and the son took the orders. this is what we got: -Got the corn fritters with the sweet and spicy sauce was pretty mild and a good starter. -Vitamin Brown Rice (large order was enough for 4 people) came in this covered silver bowl thing that looked like if you rubbed it, a genie would pop out! -ground chicken special (pee peed kahpow or something like that) was on a sizzling hot plate with fresh veggies -eggplant and tofu curry mild and sweet, if you like more spicy you can request it, this sauce was perfect on top of the brown rice. -thai ice tea, a little bit on the too sweet side, but really really good. leftovers and a bill under $40 was great. The first time I went here, I was impressed. I thought that the people who worked there were very nice. I found the Ginger tea to be tasty, and the lemon grass cake to be good. So we went back, and yuck. I had ordered a duck curry, and it made me sick, I think the dish was not fresh at all, and I was stupid to have eaten it. But I did, and it made me feel like hurling for a couple days. Also, I'm not impressed by the workers there anymore; it is a different vibe there altogether. I've had consistently good meals here - my husband and I have never been disappointed with the quality, taste, presentation or prices - THESE DESERVE 4 STARS, BUT... on the last couple of occasions we've been served by an older gentleman whose indifferent attitude doesn't work for me - tossed the menus on the table - returned and just stood there without saying a word waiting to take our order - never smiled or said thank you... Creepy owner!!!!! Took our two daughters here and the guy would not stop coming over to our table and trying to touch our kids. Touching their heads, patting their hands, trying to feed them with his bare hands, all while being silent. At first I let it slide but at the end I had to stand in between him and the kids and pull his hand off my daughter-- I think he was trying to hold her hand so she would stand up and hug him or something?? we cannot go here with just the two of us no matter how much we love the food. fave entree: beef mu-gata fave drink: thai ice tea (wake up!) suggested appetizer for vegetarians: Pak-Tod - Deep fried vegetates, served with peanut sauce. if you don't want any leftovers, here's a suggestion, go here with more than just 2 people so that you can experience a larger variety of plates without having to waste any food. !!!Muy Importante!!! if a Thai dish that you generally order from other establishments is not on the menu, we suggest not improvising that which they already have down to a T. we asked for a green curry chicken entree and it definitely did not come out anywhere close to what we would consider decently edible. read more

You love the food, but eek out only three stars because they serve too much food?? Wow.. This place has very solid thai food, great ambience and very friendly staff. The menu is HUGE, so you don't have waste your time with standard "ka prow" and the like. Living on the coast, it's definitely the best Thai between HMB and the city. I know.. That's not saying much, but this place is good. Peanut sauce is great and they have a couple of salmon dishes that are really good. read more

Love the food here! Been coming here for a few months now and will continue coming here! I've tried their chicken fried rice, chicken curry, and the basil eggplant. So far they're all delicious! Glad to see him feeling better, at least that night! Updating from 3 to 4 stars. I've been to PTC about four times in almost 2 years. I've been seated right away, the food has always been delicious--it even comes fairly quickly. The catch? Every time I've been there, a grumpy older waiter "greets" and sometimes serves. It's uncomfortable enough for me that I just haven't been back. I hope things turn around for him soon! read more

This was my first restaurant taste of Pacifica. And it has the most authentic quality Thai food I've tasted. The sauces are like no other that I can think of anywhere else--in a very good way. The printed specials on the wall are really unintentionally funny and the male owner is one who *might* crack a smile or two but rarely comes off as a fun kind of guy. Pages of menu options, and on top of that, they give you a little list of the specials and most popular items from the month before. First off... If you're in Pacifica and need a dose of Thai food: go there. Now, I'm not a Thai cuisine connoisseur or expert, but I've had my fair share. I used to live in North Hollywood, Calif. (many Thai people and Thai food restaurants), and my friend Tom (Thai) used to show me and others around to the best local Thai food joints. So I've had my fill of awesome Thai food and know the diff between good and great. So, based on my limited experience there of Panang currie and rice, and a Thai iced tea, I'd characterize this place as good. I'm kind of a rice snob, and the rice wasn't up to my snobbish standards. And the currie was missing something. I like it spicy, but I know they probably try to tone it down for people with my complexion (white), and it wasn't spicy enough for me. Yes, I could have asked for chili peppers and spiced it up, but I was too hungry. The man who served me didn't say boo. He just shuffled over, seated me, handed me a menu, and took my order. No words were uttered. That's OK. I wasn't looking for conversation. The chef (man's wife?) served the food, and she was much chattier and friendly. 80s rock playing. That was fun. I enjoyed eating currie while listening to Van Halen "Hot For Teacher," and Tom Petty "American Girl." When the bill came I grimaced a little. I know it's the way they roll, but when a Thai food place gouges you for ordering rice I don't understand. A cup of rice was $2.75. My total bill was $15 which was too much. Anyway, I know I was supporting a local, family-owned-and-operated restaurant so I'm not whining. My final recommendation: stop by and try it for yourself. read more

We have eaten here a number of times, and we've been very happy with the food. The owner is friendly and the service is good. They make a home made ginger ale with fresh ginger, and a warm cake made with fresh ginger and served with coconut ice cream. That alone is worth the trip. read more

If you want customer service that will kiss your butt and suck up to your every last whim, go somewhere else. If you want delicious, high quality food in generous portion sizes, come here. I recommend the Thai iced ginger, which you may need to water down a bit because it comes very strong. That essentially just means you get all the more for your money. You can easily get about 30oz of tasty iced ginger from one order after diluting it slowly with a full glass of water. Also recommend any curry. I tend to go with #37 which is red curry with spinach, cherry tomatoes, pineapple and duck - and then have them substitute out the duck for chicken. Duck isnt really my thing. Absolutely finger-lickingly delicious. Huge portions. read more
