Before going to Pacifica Tire and Service Center, I had another mechanic which was very convenient (I could walk there). But some things were making me a little uncertain. When I went in for my last oil change, I became even more uncertain about my usual place when I was given conflicting (one expected, one really high) estimates for new front brake pads. I called around and Pacifica Tire and Service Center replaced my brake pads for about $100 less than the other estimates. That's pretty significant. Service was pleasant and efficient. This will be my new mechanic. One thing for new customers to note--there isn't a whole lot of room to wait. But you can just go across the street to Pacific Java in Rockaway Beach. They didn't replace the bushings on my celica for the strut tower. When it was done for I told them I wanted to drive the car hard and replace everything I said I have money and tbh it was good for a bit but then it started making noise and started to have bad feel from the strut tower bushing. And I felt extremely disappointed for a long time because it would have cost me extra money to just have them do that when they were already there. I found it to be extremely hard to think why would they do that to me? So it kinda ruined the car for me. I didn't want to waste the money or time to do the strut towers there again because they would still charge me for the labor because I looked young, I don't enjoy being discriminated because of age. I don't enjoy not being listened to and them acting nice and understanding but then they don't replace the strut tower bushings. It's just so simple. All the work is really good. But just whoever worked that weekday wasn't doing it. I would recommend this place but to be extremely strict with what they do because I have been ripped off from the part price to the labor costs . They over priced me on the recycling fee and didn't give me a option to take it myself. 400$ they're crazy. read more

I made an appointment with them for my car at 10 am for wheel alignment. During the call, they asked me for all details about my car. On the appointment day, I was there and they told me it will take 2 hours to complete. I left. Rodents chewed up wires in the engine bay of my 2010 Lexus. Car was misfiring and not in good shape, and the dealership was quoting me 10K to replace the entire wire harness. Pacifica Tire & Service Center was able to open up the engine and repair the wires for a much more affordable price, and with a fast 2-day turnaround. The car now works as smoothly as before. Everything was great until they scratched my rim, exactly 2 days after I had just had all of my rims repaired, and they would not take responsibility for it, claiming that their machine doesn't touch the rims, although you can see in the other pictures that there are marks on all four wheels where the machine does touch the rims. I didn't want to argue so I plan on just sending them the bill at lease return. read more

Pacifica Tires are still our go to guys for repairs..they are ever so honest in their services and advice...couple years ago, my husband's pickup had an engine blow out, long story short, they told us it's not worthwhile to do repair because vehicle is showing lots of wear and tear. So we had it repaired elsewhere, and almost immediately, the catalytic converter component was next to go..... Pacifica Tires had alway give much consideration and logical advise in their repair quotes to their clients but it's ultimately up to the individuals to follow or not. What I waited 3.5 hours to be told was undoable at an appointment with Costco got taken care of in barely 20th total including time closed and ordering from the warehouse. Had a flat on my way home, pulled over & put on the spare & drove right to Pacifica Tire & Service Center. Got there at 5:05, they close at 6. Dude behind the counter: "Hi, do you need something?" Me: "Yeah, I had a flat on the way home, its in the trunk of my car, can I get it repaired?" Dude: "Do you want to leave it?" Me: "Well, I work in Sunnyvale so I need my car to get to work, can you fix it now?" Dude: "No, we have mechanics that are going to be going home. We can fix it in the morning." Me: "Uhhhh, I guess I will get it fixed in Sunnyvale". So much for helping the local economy, he couldve patched my tire in 10 minutes & rebalanced it in 5. It was already off the car, for christs sake. LAME I guess I know where I will NEVER go to buy tires for either of my vehicles, too bad, Im a commuter & buy tires more often than the average person. As I drive back by, Dude & another mechanic are just kinda dorking around in the parking lot. I guess the 5-6pm hour is for playing on their phones & counting rocks in the parking lot & not helping customers in need. read more

I'm new to the area and I really wanted to like this shop. The guys running the place are nice, but hard to communicate with. I'm not sure if they didn't do some of the things I asked because they forgot or because they didn't understand what I wanted. Here are my experiences: I took them a new-to-me 2004 F-250 and asked them to do an oil change, smog it, and do a full inspection. They asked me if they should check the brakes. I again asked them to do a full inspection since the truck is new to me and I want to know that it's safe and what work is upcoming. They responded with "so, check the brakes, yes?". I told them "yes, brakes and everything else". He wrote down "check brakes" on the work order. I gave up and went with it. They called me a couple hours later saying they had done the oil change, that it "wasn't ready" to smog, and that it needed front brake pads but the rotors were fine. I told them to go ahead and replace the pads. A couple hours later, they called and said my truck was ready to be picked up. When I picked it up, they had done the oil change and brakes, but no smog and no inspection. He told me to drive the truck another 50 miles and it would be ready to smog. (Side note: yes, this actually is is how OBDII sensors and tests work.) The price was fair for the oil change and front pads. Brakes work great and feel smooth. No complaints there. I took the truck back 100 miles later to have them smog it. They called me a couple hours after I dropped it off and told me it was "ready" now, but that they "weren't allowed" to smog it -- I would have to take it to a STAR station. This would have been true if it were a 49-state F-250, but California spec OBDII models should be able to be smogged anywhere. Also, if they weren't allowed to smog it in the first place, shouldn't they have told me that earlier? I wasn't going to fight with them anymore, so I took the truck to Sanford Firestone and they smogged it via OBDII in 30 mins and said they didn't have any trouble with it at all. On the plus side, Pacifica Tire didn't charge me for unsuccessfully attempting to smog the truck. Just cost me my time. I figured the Super Duty could have been a fluke, so we next took them my wife's Galant to be smogged and address a suspension clunk in the rear. They smogged it just fine ($60) and replaced a sway bar ($100) and the clunk was gone for a day. After that, it came back much worse than before. I looked up the symptoms online and several places explain that on this car, this noise is almost always a $20 bushing and that shops often mess it up and replace a sway bar that doesn't fix the problem. In my line of work, repeating a published mistake is a grievous offense, so that's strike three. We'll be taking the Galant to Firestone to have the suspension taken care of this week. In summary, these are nice guys with fair prices, but they're hard to communicate with and their troubleshooting skills appear to be pretty minimal. I may go back for oil changes and tires, but for anything that requires a mechanic as opposed to a technician, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Hope this helps some folks out there! read more

Four stars (instead of 5) because I have only had one experience with this service center and need to establish a regular business relationship with them, but I can say my first experience here was exceptionally easy and the work they provided outstanding. This place fixed my brakes and replaced my water pump in my 2003 Toyota Corolla. They didn't overcharge me for services I didn't need to have done (an item of infamy with past dealership I have gone to) and essentially saved me $500 from the original bill I received from Melody Toyota (NEGATIVE STARS FOR THAT PLACE) to fix the same items on my car. Frank was great to deal with - I made an appointment with him and upon arrival he was there to greet me. He asked about other issues with the car, called me at the end of the diagnostics to confirm his findings, ensured that the end total price was met with my authorization, and had my car ready to go at the promised time. My Corolla has been great ever since, hums along the road as solidly as it ever did. I have faith in the service Pacifica Tire and Service Center provided me, and will be taking my car and truck here from now on for all future service needs. I agree with the review that stated the name of this business implies they mainly deal with tires.... this place is always crowded with cars for repair (to their benefit) Clearly they value Return Customer Service as evident from the great repairs they have made on my car. I like these guys a lot. They offer a full tire service unlike Costco that only changes the tires. After using Costco for years I realized they were doing more damage than good. Here however they do it right. They are able to balance, align and replace tires. They are locally owned. I never really know if I am getting a good deal because tires seem way too expensive no matter where I go but the quality of work and just talking to the guys makes me think, while I am paying, say 10% more compared to Costco, I am getting more for my money in quality work. Great, honest shop. Have had tires and brakes done here for three cars and gave done a great job. Recently my son brought his car in for an oil leak. They fixed it the same day and it turned out to be very inexpensive. We went in telling them to do what ever is needed - if it is the rear main deal then do it and the clutch too. Just the oil pressure sending unit and they changed the oil filter too bad they did it very inexpensively. They will get all my business and anything I can send their way. read more
