Paco's Pick Taco plate
Erica D.

This place has been on my list for awhile so finally had a chance to come here today. Really cute old school proper Texan saloon vibes with lots of outside seating and a nice parking lot behind. We ordered the chorizo egg and cheese which was delicious. We then got the pacos pick which I liked and the bandito which was my least favorite (but still good) as it had too much of the refried beans. They have a mini fridge full of different salsas which I loved! I'll definitely be back to try something else next time since they have a huge menu.

The food was very good and the patio was a nice place to sit! The man taking our order was very nice and helped us figure out what to get.

Really good spot for a quick breakfast snack. The tacos are pretty big along with the gorditas. The gordita especially has a really good corn like bread and crisped up enough to get a bit of crunch to it. One gordita is enough food to start your day. Lots of outdoor seating, a fair amount of indoor seating and parking space.

5 stars as always! I love this place and will keep coming back. The food was great, service is great, ambiance is great! We had our breakfast outdoors. I ordered Paco Bandito tacos and cold brew, and it was delightful.

It's taken me too long to try this place out but I'm glad I finally did. Came here the other day for breakfast and was so happy with the service and food. I ordered the migas plate and my mom ordered enchiladas. Both came out quickly and were delicious. I loved having the option of sitting inside or under the covered patio outdoors. The grounds are really cute and eclectic and had lots of seating and parking.

Haven't been to Paco's in years and glad to see it is still just as good as I remember. I came in for some breakfast to go around 10 am and no wait time. They have a large menu selection which can be slightly overwhelming if you've never been, but the workers are super helpful and kind. I got one migas and one bacon egg and cheese. Both tasted perfectly authentically tex mex. Not greasy which is a plus. They were a good size too, very filled up. Still warm by the time I got home 20 minutes later too. They also have a mini fridge of salsas you can grab to go. Inside is very quaint and country. Lots of space for sitting both inside and outside.

One of my new favorite taco spots in Austin! I called in my order and they had it ready super fast perfect for a quick pickup. The staff was really friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I loved that you can make your own coffee and they had a great selection of salsas to try. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth coming back for. Next time getting a margarita to sip on the patio! (IG: wheresspeedbump)

Breakfast Taco, Carnitas Taco, The Gringo Taco

The best way to describe this restaurant: country Mexican. The outdoor part of it is very country, and there was a live guitarist. I thought the vibes were immaculate. They have $4 mimosas on the weekends, so my friend really enjoyed the special grapefruit one he got. They even have two large private parking lots! I was overwhelmed looking at the menu selection. I ended up settling for the egg and potato breakfast taco, the gringo taco, and the carnitas taco. This was a whopping $17, which I think is the most I've paid for tacos in Austin. These tacos are really big though, so I should've just ordered two. The breakfast taco and carnitas tacos were good. The gringo taco tasted soooooo strange. I really like shrimp tacos, but something about this flavour was so unpleasant. I will also say that the water tasted so so bad. I'm not someone who is picky about the taste of water, but their water tasted worse than regular tap water. It was so off that I couldn't drink it. I value water a lot, so this was unfortunate.

Continues to remain one of my favorite Tex mex sports on the northeast side of ATX. I like to order the big man breakfast but it is seriously messy, so be careful. The service is always super fast here and friendly. I've found their pricing to be reasonable because they make their tacos fat. Great job!

Potato and black bean taco and sausage and egg

I have a mixed review if this place. I've been a few times and it's three star some, but this time was better, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Previously I've done my standard chorizo and egg on flour and was underwhelmed. Changed it up this time with black bean and potato, which was excellent. And sausage and egg, which was pretty good. Flour tortillas were warned up a little. Above average. I've only tried a couple salsas from the salsa bar, but they've got good flavor. I want to like this place more, because the vibe is great. Nice outside patio area. Some seating inside. Four star for now, but wish I could do 3 1/2.

I've been here a few times over the years and this last time seemed to be a little different. The prices surprised me a little bit as they seem to have increased since I last remember. I got La Vieira and Paco's Chuleta and felt they weren't particularly flavorful. I'm totally sympathetic of rising costs but just wasn't impressed for this price point. I also ordered a $3.50 horchata and was given a regular sized plastic cup to serve myself from a bucket with a ladle. Definitely not the service I was expecting. I'm giving one more star because I have better memories from previous visits and Paco's does have a cool, rustic vibe. But I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again with many other taco options.

I live on the same street as this place and I always drive past it on the way to the HEB that is also on this street. I never thought to try it out until just now. It's easy to miss, but once you turn into the parking lot it's hard not to love. The environment is awesome! I loved the outdoor seating area with a shaded patio. I got a breakfast taco and a breakfast tostada and I was blown away at the value. The food tasted great and it was not expensive at all. The salsa bar is nice, but I would've personally liked if the salsas were spicier and had more flavor. The service was also quick and friendly :) It's a great taco spot that's got hole-in-the-wall written all over it. I highly recommend stopping by!

We love coming back to Paco's Tacos for their variety of breakfast tacos options and weekend drink offers. The location is really charming, with a real cantina out back. The staff is super friendly. I like their corn and flour blend tortillas, which I believe are made in-house. We picked two or three taco items and had the coffee cups to enjoy on their patio for a nice relaxing early Sunday morning.

Is Paco's dog friendly?

Paco’s welcomes dogs as long as the owner is responsible and keeps the dog on a leash. We have water bowls and dog treats.

Are the refried beans vegetarian? If so, are they made with much oil? Asking for meal planning/calorie info myself, but I figured someone else might want to know if they are veg too. Thanks!

Vegetarian and no oil. Salt water and beans

She noticed I was ordering dairy items on side and asked about if pesto in guacamole was ok. So astute and kind of her. Also on my friends second drink remembered she didn't want salt or her rim without even asking - Everything tasted so fresh and high quality - Brisket tacos: packed with flavor--maybe it was the wagyu meat or the black magic oil. Freshly made corn tortillas were awesome. Usually corn ones and pretty throwaway meh, but these added to the greatness of the tacos. 5 stars - Duck flautas: crispy covered in mild mole. Loved the mashed potato addition inside for some mellowness and texture. 5 stars - Guacamole: so fresh and that dollop of pesto on top was lovely. Served with crispy masa dippers were impressive almost a 8x11 page size. It was fun to crack off into pieces, but hard to stop eating it. 5 stars - Sweet potato: friend loved these long charred wedges. 4.5 stars - Cocktails were stellar. I got the Don Dario which was a play on a marg and delightful - $12 of a few drinks during lucky hour (Mon-Fri 5-6pm, Sat-Sun 3-5pm) - High energy vibes in a clean, open, tan colored space - Had their bottle water on the table in a champagne bottle which speaks to my heart Midlights: - In East Austin so have to Uber if you are staying more central - Tacos come in orders of 4. The authentic Mexican cuisine is consistently on point, both in flavor and presentation, making it a reliable choice when you want to impress. The traditional margaritas with Tajín are a standout and easily a favorite among my group every time--refreshing with just the right kick. On my most recent visit, I tried the new Salmon entree, and it was delicious--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My coworkers explored a variety of menu options, and every dish received rave reviews: the Carne Asada entrée, Ribeye tacos, Enchiladas Suizas, Chicken Mole Poblano, and Carnitas tacos--all executed beautifully and packed with authentic taste. And of course, the Guacamole and Queso Fundido remains one of my personal favorites--fresh, flavorful, and always a must-order for the table. Between the consistently great food, crowd-pleasing drinks, and overall experience, I'll definitely be back again soon. La Popular never disappoints!

I ordered the brunch cachetada and wasn't thrilled. The suiza chicken and runny eggs diluted the flavor and made the cheese crust on the tortilla soggy. I had to add a lot of hot sauce. It needed more texture and flavor. Overall a boring dish. I would definitely return and order something else, however.

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites. As a Texas native & Austinite, my boyfriend has been going to Fonda for years (they've been around…read moresince 1975 after all). I've only been once and it's definitely not gonna be the last time. In fact, we've got an upcoming reservation that's been on the books for quite sometime. They've managed to remain delicious, relevant and in demand 50 years! That's saying something. I'll tell you what that says...it says they rule! Reservations can be tricky to get but oh so worth it. The bar & atrium are fantastic and they boast a generous happy hour. The restaurant area and entire space are decorated wonderfully. Amazing artwork adorns the walls, they've got extensive art all about, vaulted ceilings and more. It's kind of like being in a hacienda. It feels like you're in Mexico. Truly. The restaurant and food are upscale without being pretentious. How refreshing! Speaking of refreshing...they've got cocktails and mocktails that will knock your socks off. I'm a big fan of the Nojito. My boyfriend loves the Mexican martini (it's primo). Let's talk about food. Wow-wee is it everything and then some. This is the kind of Tex-Mex flavor that sends your tastebuds into a tailspin of goodness! On our visit we did a salsa flight (we did 3 salsas), the queso (melted muenster and Oaxacan), Wagyu beef tacos, and chicken verde enchiladas. We did a spread like that in order to share everything. Food so good I'd give ten stars if I could. I can't put my finger on it but there's just something so special about the food, the taste of it, and the quality. It's just incredible flavor explosion bite after bite. If I had to guess, I'd say the food has been made with love, skill, and attention to detail all these years. Hence, their amazing reputation. Service is beyond compare. Hands down some of the best I've experienced in all of my worldly travels. Fonda San Miguel (Tzintzuntzan) is a dream come true!
