    Paco's Pick Taco plate

This place has been on my list for awhile so finally had a chance to come here today. Really cute old school proper Texan saloon vibes with lots of outside seating and a nice parking lot behind. We ordered the chorizo egg and cheese which was delicious. We then got the pacos pick which I liked and the bandito which was my least favorite (but still good) as it had too much of the refried beans. They have a mini fridge full of different salsas which I loved! I'll definitely be back to try something else next time since they have a huge menu.

The food was very good and the patio was a nice place to sit! The man taking our order was very nice and helped us figure out what to get.

Really good spot for a quick breakfast snack. The tacos are pretty big along with the gorditas. The gordita especially has a really good corn like bread and crisped up enough to get a bit of crunch to it. One gordita is enough food to start your day. Lots of outdoor seating, a fair amount of indoor seating and parking space.

5 stars as always! I love this place and will keep coming back. The food was great, service is great, ambiance is great! We had our breakfast outdoors. I ordered Paco Bandito tacos and cold brew, and it was delightful.

It's taken me too long to try this place out but I'm glad I finally did. Came here the other day for breakfast and was so happy with the service and food. I ordered the migas plate and my mom ordered enchiladas. Both came out quickly and were delicious. I loved having the option of sitting inside or under the covered patio outdoors. The grounds are really cute and eclectic and had lots of seating and parking.

Haven't been to Paco's in years and glad to see it is still just as good as I remember. I came in for some breakfast to go around 10 am and no wait time. They have a large menu selection which can be slightly overwhelming if you've never been, but the workers are super helpful and kind. I got one migas and one bacon egg and cheese. Both tasted perfectly authentically tex mex. Not greasy which is a plus. They were a good size too, very filled up. Still warm by the time I got home 20 minutes later too. They also have a mini fridge of salsas you can grab to go. Inside is very quaint and country. Lots of space for sitting both inside and outside.

One of my new favorite taco spots in Austin! I called in my order and they had it ready super fast perfect for a quick pickup. The staff was really friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I loved that you can make your own coffee and they had a great selection of salsas to try. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth coming back for. Next time getting a margarita to sip on the patio! (IG: wheresspeedbump)

The best way to describe this restaurant: country Mexican. The outdoor part of it is very country, and there was a live guitarist. I thought the vibes were immaculate. They have $4 mimosas on the weekends, so my friend really enjoyed the special grapefruit one he got. They even have two large private parking lots! I was overwhelmed looking at the menu selection. I ended up settling for the egg and potato breakfast taco, the gringo taco, and the carnitas taco. This was a whopping $17, which I think is the most I've paid for tacos in Austin. These tacos are really big though, so I should've just ordered two. The breakfast taco and carnitas tacos were good. The gringo taco tasted soooooo strange. I really like shrimp tacos, but something about this flavour was so unpleasant. I will also say that the water tasted so so bad. I'm not someone who is picky about the taste of water, but their water tasted worse than regular tap water. It was so off that I couldn't drink it. I value water a lot, so this was unfortunate.

Continues to remain one of my favorite Tex mex sports on the northeast side of ATX. I like to order the big man breakfast but it is seriously messy, so be careful. The service is always super fast here and friendly. I've found their pricing to be reasonable because they make their tacos fat. Great job!

I have a mixed review if this place. I've been a few times and it's three star some, but this time was better, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Previously I've done my standard chorizo and egg on flour and was underwhelmed. Changed it up this time with black bean and potato, which was excellent. And sausage and egg, which was pretty good. Flour tortillas were warned up a little. Above average. I've only tried a couple salsas from the salsa bar, but they've got good flavor. I want to like this place more, because the vibe is great. Nice outside patio area. Some seating inside. Four star for now, but wish I could do 3 1/2.

I've been here a few times over the years and this last time seemed to be a little different. The prices surprised me a little bit as they seem to have increased since I last remember. I got La Vieira and Paco's Chuleta and felt they weren't particularly flavorful. I'm totally sympathetic of rising costs but just wasn't impressed for this price point. I also ordered a $3.50 horchata and was given a regular sized plastic cup to serve myself from a bucket with a ladle. Definitely not the service I was expecting. I'm giving one more star because I have better memories from previous visits and Paco's does have a cool, rustic vibe. But I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again with many other taco options.

I live on the same street as this place and I always drive past it on the way to the HEB that is also on this street. I never thought to try it out until just now. It's easy to miss, but once you turn into the parking lot it's hard not to love. The environment is awesome! I loved the outdoor seating area with a shaded patio. I got a breakfast taco and a breakfast tostada and I was blown away at the value. The food tasted great and it was not expensive at all. The salsa bar is nice, but I would've personally liked if the salsas were spicier and had more flavor. The service was also quick and friendly :) It's a great taco spot that's got hole-in-the-wall written all over it. I highly recommend stopping by!

We love coming back to Paco's Tacos for their variety of breakfast tacos options and weekend drink offers. The location is really charming, with a real cantina out back. The staff is super friendly. I like their corn and flour blend tortillas, which I believe are made in-house. We picked two or three taco items and had the coffee cups to enjoy on their patio for a nice relaxing early Sunday morning.

    Is Paco's dog friendly?

Paco’s welcomes dogs as long as the owner is responsible and keeps the dog on a leash. We have water bowls and dog treats.

Are the refried beans vegetarian? If so, are they made with much oil? Asking for meal planning/calorie info myself, but I figured someone else might want to know if they are veg too. Thanks!

There are several salsa options, and drinks include Mexican Cokes and horchata, among others. We ended up getting two tacos (pastor and carne asada), a nopales quesadilla, and an order of chips and guac. At $5 to $6 a taco, this wasn't cheap despite the no-frills surroundings, but it was well worth it. Everything looked and tasted fresh and smelled amazing. D/10 is known for its pastor, and it's easy to see why. Served in strips rather than chunks, it boasts a crisp edge and a nice bit of pineapple flavor. At this point, El Dorado is an Austin favorite. People don't really debate whether it's good. They debate whether the wait is worth it, which is a very different conversation. So rather than adding another voice to the pile of praise, it seems more useful to talk about what people should actually expect when they go. First, yes, there may be a wait. This place is popular, and popular restaurants attract crowds. That's not a criticism; it's simply the reality. But it's also worth noting that many of the legendary wait times come from showing up exactly when everyone else does. If you can sneak in before or after the prime lunch and dinner rushes, the experience becomes much more manageable. Once you're seated, do yourself a favor and order the white queso. Better yet, if you're with family or friends, just get the sampler. It turns the beginning of the meal into an event rather than a formality. The white queso is every bit as good as people claim, but what surprised me even more was how seriously El Dorado takes its salsa. Most restaurants treat salsa as a free opening act before the main performance. Here, it feels like something carefully considered. Several varieties stood out, and more than one made me wonder why so many places settle for mediocre salsa when it can clearly be this good. As for the food itself, it's important to know what kind of restaurant you're walking into. If your idea of Austin Tex-Mex is fresh, light, bright, and vaguely health-conscious, you may need to adjust your expectations. El Dorado leans toward the heartier side of the spectrum. These are rich, deeply flavored dishes that feel rooted in tradition rather than trends. The portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and the meal has a certain gravitational pull to it. This is not food that politely taps you on the shoulder. It gives you a warm hug and then insists you have another bite. What impressed me most, oddly enough, were the beans and rice. Normally, they're supporting characters that exist simply because tradition demands they be present. At El Dorado, they seem to receive the same attention as everything else on the plate. It's a small detail, but great restaurants often reveal themselves through small details. The service deserves just as much praise as the food. During our visit, we interacted with several different staff members, and every one of them was friendly, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. There was none of the rushed indifference that sometimes sneaks into busy restaurants. Even better, management was actively moving through the dining room, checking on guests, talking with tables, and making sure people were enjoying themselves. It's the kind of thing that doesn't always get noticed when it's done well, but it absolutely contributes to why places like this develop loyal followings. The atmosphere itself is cheerful and comfortable. It's colorful without being flashy, lively without being chaotic. Nobody is going to leave talking about the interior design, but that's perfectly fine. The room accomplishes what it needs to accomplish: it feels welcoming and relaxed, allowing the food and the people to be the stars. As for negatives, there really aren't many. If you're looking for an elevated dining experience with dramatic plating, moody lighting, and a server who explains every ingredient as though introducing characters in a novel, this probably isn't your place. El Dorado seems far more interested in feeding people well than impressing them with presentation. And honestly, that's probably part of the reason Austin loves it so much. Go when you can avoid the biggest crowds. Order the queso. Explore the salsas. Don't overlook the beans and rice. Show up hungry. The food is hearty, the people are kind, and the restaurant knows exactly what it is. In a city where so many places are trying to become something, there's something refreshing about a place that already has.

THAT PLACE IS THE BEST". Located off Mopac and Anderson in North Central Austin, this beloved tex-mex restaurant is situated in a relatively aged shopping strip less than half a mile from the highway. Parking is ample and available so there should be no issues with access getting to the restaurant. Although easy to get to, it's a whole different story getting into the restaurant. First and foremost, they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Secondly, they are so popular that you should almost always expect a wait. The pro move here is to book a reservation, but if you don't have one - anticipate waiting anywhere between 30 - 90 minutes in order to get in. Once in, you have the option to pick from a variety of tex-mex cuisine, including some local house specials such as the "crunchwrap supreme" which has an interesting backlore related to Taco Bell. Free chips and salsa (choose up to two salsas to try) land as soon as you arrive. El Dorado is known for its vegan tex-mex offerings so those with more particular diets will certainly be able to find something that works. The salsas are tasty. The serving portions are large. The flavors are good - there's really not too much to complain about once you're in and seated.
