We had the Carnitas Burrito, the Carne Asada Burrito and some fish tacos. I preferred the tenderness of the carnitas burrito over the tougher carne asada burrito, but both were tasty. The tacos are on the smaller side, but they were really fresh and tasty. Ask for the hot sauce! Its got some serious kick! The Hanapepe location has a nice covered area out front with some picnic tables to eat at. I'd recommend this for a quick lunch/dinner on the way to/from a day at Waimea Canyon. Got 2 mahi mahi tacos which were good, but made the mistake of getting chips and pico de Gallo...not worth the $. Chips were around $4 and pico was $2. The whole meal was $18 bucks which was pretty pricey for what you get. Otherwise, service was good and guy taking orders was nice. read more

I think I had the best shrimp taco ever here. I would have ordered two if I had known how long it would be until I enjoyed a meal again on Kauai. The shrimp taco was only $3.95 and I ordered a side of beans and rice to go with it, which were ok but not outstanding like the taco. I happened upon this place because my husband wanted to eat next door at a Hawaiian style cafe and I did not see anything I wanted to order on their menu. Me and my girlfriend had many tacos at other places around the island but none of them compared to pacos tacos. they were delicious and completely authentic. how do i know this u ask. because i am hispanic and i can spot a fake taco a mile away. we each got the three taco carne asada special. soooo good that i had to get another three. They were happy to serve us even though we came right at closing time. This was the best place to stop after a long day of hiking! They have amazing fresh tacos and friendly service. I recommend the chili verde plate if you like pork- simple but filling and comes with three tortillas. After hearing some good things about this place from friends, I decided to try it one day while in lihue. I ordered fresh ono fish tacos. I'm very picky with my food. I bought two fish tacos for 10. I think that's a lot of dinero for two tacos. The fish was plentiful, lots of yummy cabbage, salsa and a to die for cilantro sauce. They should have that on the menu as a side. Always my complaint at the taco joints on kauai is that the meat or fish is bland tasting. The meat or fish should stand alone without any accompaniments. Another observation, if I would have added my preferred toppings, my total cost for one taco would have been 9.33. Pacos tacos did not knock it out of the park for me. The food is horrible. I ordered the two fish taco combo plate and was shocked to receive the most pitiful tacos I have ever seen. There was less than 1 ounce of fish and maybe 2 tablespoons of cabbage in each taco. If you combined all of it, it wouldn't amount to 1 taco and certainly not 2 (with 2 tortillas each, 1 of which I had to remove in the hopes of tasting the fish at all). This might not have been so bad if the tacos or rice and beans were delicious. They were not. What I could taste of the measly tacos was bland, the beans runny and the rice cold. For the record, my husband similarly reported that his carne asada burrito could most favorably be described as "food". read more

I was excited for the advertised FRESH fish tacos and this was the recommended place. When we received our food, we couldn't stop staring at the plate of veggies, bewildered. I asked: "Where's the fish?" "Did they give us the veggie tacos instead?" "Maybe they forgot to put the fish in. Let's go ask." I started getting off my chair. "Uh...nope. Wait... Here it is," as my fiancé scraped the veggie off the ~1.5" x 1" piece of fish. I couldn't even see it at first and I had my contacts ON! I think I even asked incredulously: "Where??" He had to point directly at it. Honestly, looking at the pics of the reviews here, our piece was half that size. As someone has already stated, it's not fresh and it seems to be items from Costco, which were exactly my sentiments. I actually believe all the items, including the "fresh" fish is from Costco. When I bit into the fish, the experience brought me back to a time I ate some cooked frozen Costco fish that I swore to myself I would never get again. The only abundance u'll receive here is SALT. Unfortunately the quality of food has declined. This used to be me and my wife's favorite Mexican food escape . We were both born and live here on the west side of Kauai and the home takeout was a nice change from the local food. It seems as of late that they're trying to cut corners. For example the shrimp burrito has very little shrimp and is overshadowed by the ridiculous amount of rice and beans. The crab burrito fails to tell you that it is in fact soft shell crab (and a very very sparse amount that comprises it). In short the prices suck and food quality mirrors that.
