I am biased bc my bf's mom makes AMAZING Lao food. So I was surprised when I saw that 2 sausages for ~$5. Anyways, this place is a gem in Escondido. There are not too many good Asian restaurants in north county so a slightly pricey place is fine to me. The sausages are delicious!! Crispy and flavorful. Papaya salad (Lao style) is refreshing. I think there is some suspicious over-inflation of scores here. Came here for lunch and was more than a little disappointed. I ordered the Pad See Ew, which was okay, but I had to add a lot of chile sauce (which I had to ask for - should they automatically have it at the table?) to it to make it flavorful. Needless to say however, it was the best looking order at the whole table I was at. There were other people who were eating lunch there, so there might be a few "specialties" that I am unaware of. Sad Things: No free refills on Thai iced coffee Tom Yum Soup too sweet, and not enough spicy Spring rolls not very flavorful The salad they give you before your meal is the most pathetic looking thing ever LOTS OF MSG IN THEIR FOOD - One of my friends had an allergic reaction due to how much they put in it! Service: Your water is always full, but nothing else really happens. No wonder, because they automatically add 18% gratuity to your bill. Dined at the restaurant and saw a couple next to us order the mango sticky rice. Looked beautifully presented when they got it. When we got ours we were thoroughly disappointed. Apparently, they decided to give us the parts of the mango which they couldn't slice up nicely- pretty much the leftover parts of the mango. We are Thai and have eaten mango sticky rice from many restaurants and vendors but never once have we been given leftover parts of a mango. read more

This is my place to go for Thai food in Escondido. I've tried their food a few times and my rating is based on the consistency of their quality, portion and their damn spicy sauce. I've primarily tried their noodle dishes, pad Thai, pad sew ew (sp) and others, but I'm sure it's probably good. Their service is exceptional and the young lady that is there takes good care of her customers. I have only praise for her ability to provide service to multiple guests at a time, handle the register and phone all at the same time. After a Stone Brewery tour we wanted Thai food and stumbled across sparkling reviews on Yelp. Well, after eating here I can't say the food was amazing. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing. Chick Pad Thai - The noodles were good. The chicken tasted dry. So it was like really yummy noodles with really crappy chicken. It was almost gone, but not quite bad. Does that sound appealing? Seafood over Rice - Not bad. A little salty, but pretty ok. Overall, the food was all very... ok? I guess OK is like 3 stars. The place is a hole in the wall, and wasn't super busy. They usually go hotter than you tell them. So, I recommended asking for one or two levels down from your heat preference. I came here for dinner with my friend on a rainy night, Thai food is always an excellent choice for rainy days. My friend said he had been here numerous times and said I'd like it. He was right. It was really good. I ordered crab delight appetizer and those were super delicious and as my entree i ordere pad thai with chicken, spice level 6 (that was especially delicious). The restaurant is very clean, intimate and the decor of the place is really nice. I loved everything about it. They even placed water at our table that had fresh fruit (strawberries, cucumbers, and limes). and kept refilling the jug so we can refill our waters. The service was prompt and friendly. I still can't believe that this place has been in Escondido for 16 years and this was the first time I'd eaten there. We walked in around 8pm on a Thursday night and there was NO ONE there...but I kept my hopes up because I read the previous Yelp reviews. I was not disappointed! Waiter came out immediately and seated us. We ordered a chicken kebab appetizer which is the reason why I only gave 4 starts. It was not the best. But looking past that, the Tom Kha soup was AMAZING! We ordered a hot pot to go we liked it so much! I had a Jasmine ice tea which was refreshing, and the green curry spice at a level 6 which was just right for me. I can't remember what my hubby had, but all I know is he kept exclaiming after every single bite how good his food was, lol. All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy thai food. This place is going down hill I got the coconut soup which was cold with no flavor and few tiny chicken pieces. My boyfriend ordered a grilled eggplant, the sauce was okay as for the eggplant they were way too oily ..yukk. When the waitress came to check on us i told her the soup was not good at all, she said okay and went back to the kitchen. I thought they'd do something about it but NOPE, nothing!! Excellent! Everything about this place is nice! Our water came in a carafe infused with orange, cucumber, and some leaf. Delicious! We could choose the spiciness of our food, on a scale of 0 to 10. And, the very polite waitress brought extra spices for us to add. There are orchids at almost every table. And, the prices are very reasonable. We had a lovely evening. I am updating this review to one star. I ordered take out chicken pad thai and crab delights and when I got home to eat my meal it was cold and the crab delights tasted and smelled old. The cream cheese was bad I think. When I called into restaurant I spoke to Ritza who was the manager and asked me very rudely what I want to do about it? I told her any compensation or anything. She then asked for me to bring my food in so they can examine it. I live 15min away. Ritza the manager didn't even apologize whatsoever. She then accused me of never ordering food from there before? We have been patrons since shortly after we moved to Escondido. The food is always great! Pad See Eu and Thai Fried Rice are our personal favorites. The Tom Yum soup flavor is as close to the recipe a Thai chef taught me in Dubai many years ago as I have found anywhere. Two stars for "Meh. I've experienced better." Because I definitely have. Everything was at best mediocre. And by that I mean nothing stood out, most dishes were average, and some were below average. The thai tea tasted watered down. It seemed as if they poured hot thai tea into a cup of ice which resulted in almost all the ice melting. As a result, the tea didn't have much flavor and looked diluted in appearance. I don't care for pad thai much, but this pad thai has a strange texture to it which wasn't good in my opinion. The fried rice was mushy in texture, which made it pretty bad. The fried chicken was just average, nothing special. The chow fun looked messy, the noodles were not intact and broken in smaller pieces. It didn't taste good. The fried fish cakes didn't taste good and they were a dark brown color on the outside, as if it was burnt. The fried calamari rings were overcooked and the batter was hard and crunchy. The flavor was below average. The coconut curry with chicken tasted diluted too. The flavor wasn't there, but it was okay to eat. The only dish I actually enjoyed was the green curry with chicken. When I got to the restaurant, it was completely empty. Which might tell you something about its popularity. Another weird thing that happened was a couple of guys in street clothing with backpacks on kept walking in and out through the kitchen. They didn't look like they had anything to do with the restaurant, they looked like they were some of the workers friends just stopping by to hang out. It seems like the people who rave about this place just don't know good thai food. read more

We were in San Diego and needed to eat coz we are starving. I was craving for Thai food so thanks to yelp...we found this place. It is located in a big plaza. It was kinda hard to see where it is but we found it anyway. The place was empty when we got there which made us think if we made the right decision or should we leave. Anyway, we ordered: Thai tea with boba-- I think it was a little pricy for the serving. Pad Thai with chicken -- this was interesting since we had a choice on how spicy we want it for. Isnt it supposed to be sweet? Beef panang -- we got this in mild spicy. But it seems like it was spicier than I expected it to be. Dont get me wrong. It is very good. I love how they serve water with a hint of fruits (strawberry, orange, lemon, cucumber and mint leaf). The staff are friendly. We will definitely be back if we are in the area. Easily the best Thai food in Escondido. They have all of the expected Thai dishes, and execute them reasonably well. Also tried the appetizer variety platter, and that was outstanding. Pad Thai was good, not too sweet, plenty of noodles (but a bit light on the meat.) They also deliver, but beware the high minimum order. Still nice when you don't wanna put any pants on. read more

Most recent visit I went there when they just opened at 11am. Ordered a curry and fried rice to go. Was told food will be ready in 10-15 minutes. Waited for about half hour. They apologized and offered free coffee which was nice but I declined. Didn't mind the wait as I know the kitchen may not be ready that early. Went home and the fried rice was bitter which means over fried. The meat in the curry was also over cooked. If you're going to make me wait at least give me good food. Very disappointed. read more

I've visited this place a handful of times , but this last time I've visited will be the last. I've called in a phone order to go. They tell me it will be 15-20 mins and I get there and takes about 5-10mins before I get rang up for my order. Once It was my turn to pay they start looking for my order and it goes missing. The other guy who was working had given it out my order to a food delivery service. They told me it will take another 10-15 mins to make food all over again. I get my food and was very late for work. I feel like each time I've gone at this establishment the quality of the food had gone down the drain. I hope they can improve there process in the future. read more

Placed a takeout order for Kee Mao spice level 1 and spring rolls. It was good, but tasted more like an Italian pasta dish than a Thai noodle dish.
