Tried to order from here...apparently internet affects the cooks from preparing food. Came into establishment, sat at a table, waited and waited, went to counter to ask for menu, was told internet/server was down. I said no problem I'm paying cash. I'm a big fan of oriental food and especially a fan of Pad Thai. I've tried many different Pad Thai dishes out there and this restaurant has to be one of my favorites! I found out about this place by just driving by and seeing the Pad Thai Restaurant sign from Mission Blvd and I told myself one day I'll try it. Tried their Pad Thai for the first time a few weeks after that and I've been coming here since! Whenever I'm in town and have funds to spoil myself and my wife, I'll come here and order some Pad Thai. My usual dish is the chicken Pad Thai with level 6 spice. Oh yeah they rate the dishes hotness from 1 to 10 with 10 being the spiciest. I have yet to try their other menu items but their Pad Thai is enough to make me wanna come here often. Okay, so I have never posted a review on yelp, and I wish I was inspired by a great experience, however, in this case it is the complete opposite. My husband and I order take out Thai food at least 2 times a month. We decided to try Padthai restaurant for the first time last night. Now, I have worked in the restaurant business for over 10 years and I like to think I have a empathetic heart for situations that others wouldn't since I understand the process of serving and making food for paying customers. We ordered our food over the phone. My husband has gastrointestinal disease, so he cannot eat spicy food (seems silly to order thai, but like everything it can be made not spicy). Over the phone she repeated that on a scale from 1-10 spicy we wanted a 0 and spices on the side. "Okay 25 minutes, we are busy". Fine. We get there in 30 minutes and they haven't started our food yet... a little annoying, but fine when you're busy you're busy (even though there was only 1 table and 3 pick ups). The server didn't acknowledge us for about 10 minutes then asked us which order was ours. After about 5 minutes of her trying to figure out which ticket was mine between 3 tickets, they finally start the food. Getting annoying. We go outside to smoke and come back in and our food is ready! Yay, annoyance forgotten! Oh but wait, it's someone else's food. By now all 3 pick up order people are there waiting patiently like us. 5 minutes later our food is ready after my original call an hour and ten minutes before, and we re confirm that these are at a 0 spicy level. So of course the Pad Kee Mao is at about a 8 spicy which is even spicy for me. My husband decides to call about it which is another first for him since we can usually deal with mistakes, but in this case he literally cannot eat his dinner and we definitely expressed to them the importance of no spice. We have NEVER had that problem at any Thai food place, ever. 3 different people rotate on the phone yelling at my husband telling him that if a child could eat it then he should be able too, he is lying, we are ridiculous etc., etc. My husband said "this is black and white. I asked for no spice and I got spice. If nobody is going to help me, I am going to post a bad review on yelp" to which they then became concerned. Too little too late guys, the food was good, as far as I am concerned, but not the best. If you want to make it as a dime a dozen restaurant out there, you have to have good customer service. Yelling at the customer and running around in a frenzy over 3 pickup tickets is absurd. If your restaurant goes under, now you know why. Restaurants don't run themselves and are not instant money makers. Get over yourself and hire people that can handle pressure and know the difference between spicy and non spicy food. You know it's a bad sign when you walk into a restaurant and see several empty tables with dirty dishes that have yet to be cleaned off. My boyfriend and I walked in Sunday night and got seated right away at the second to last clean table they had left. There was a family of 3 seated across from me, a couple a few tables away, and a lady waiting for her take out. From what I gathered, they all looked like they've been waiting for a while. The server who seated us was apparently doing it all. He was seating people, taking orders, running food, cooking in the kitchen, you name it... he was doing it. Well, everything besides cleaning dirty tables. It took him about 15 minutes to take our order. As we waited for our bowl of Tom Yum soup and Pad Thai, we see the other disgruntled customers who have been waiting for their food getting pretty impatient. It was pretty ridiculous how long the food was taking. It took at least 45 minutes after we ordered for our food to finally come out. When they brought out our Tom Yum soup, they made the hot pot size instead of the bowl by accident, but they just told us to take it and still give us the price of the bowl (I guess this was the silver lining). The soup was okay, nothing to brag about. I've definitely had better elsewhere. As for the Pad Thai, it was again just decent. This experience just put a sour taste in my mouth. Obviously, they were extremely understaffed. There's no reason that a restaurant should take that long for food to come out especially when it's not even that busy. Having that many dirty tables makes the restaurant look extremely unsanitary. A group of people came in waiting to be seated and the server told them that it'd be a minute for him to set their table, but he just went back to doing what he was doing, didn't clean the table, and they ended up leaving after 5 minutes. I don't know if this is how their customer service usually is, but if it is then they need to do a lot of work. They need at least two more people working to be efficient enough and keep their customers happy. This experience was an unpleasant one so I really doubt I'll be coming back. read more

I ordered an entree which cost 8.50 on the menu and a thai tea which is 2.50 I was charged 14.53 I asked the cashier why my total was so high. She explained that this was because I ordered tofu and vegetables instead of meat in my entree. I replied that the menu price for my meal with tofu and vegetables was actually 8.25! "Did I get something wrong?" I asked. She said " yeah. Kind of you did." I waited a solid thirty seconds for her to explain... which she didn't. I gave up and left. I'm not very confrontational. Owner is a CROOK! Had a coupon from restaurants.com that explicitly states "Gift Certificate Does NOT expire" but when I went there, they wouldn't take it. I called and spoke with Ko, the owner, and after twisting his arm and telling him that he cannot just simply decide not to take a coupon with no expiration date, he told me to go back and they would refund me the value of the coupon. So I drove over there and was told then that I must order two additional entrees at 1pm, when I wasn't hungry and had no need for the entrees, to be able to get my money back! So I called the owner AGAIN and after being called a crook, am leaving it up to the Yelp community, the Better Business Bureau and my credit card company who I have called and disputed the charges with. This place is great for lunch - great prices and great food. I've been here twice and both times ordered the Hot Basil Lunch Special with chicken as my meat - only $5.99. It's delicious. I'm never able to finish the whole thing, so I took it to go and ate it for dinner. I have yet to try any of the Thai staples like Pad Thai, Curry, or Tom Yum, but I will definitely be coming back during my lunch break a few more times! Went here for lunch one day recently and ordered the masamun(sc*) chicken curry lunch special with a Thai tea no boba. So idk what happened, but the chunks of veggies, carrots n potatoes mind u in my curry came out hard n raw. It was very hard to eat n I'm just not use to eating raw potatoes because it's just not how ur suppose to eat them ya know. This has happened everytime I've come here to order anything that came with veggies. Why are the veggies not cooked thoroughly here?(mind boggling) The other thing was my Thai tea had a funny sour n tart taste to it like it had been made a week ago and is still being served to customers. Not fresh tea if that's what u prefer because I do n so that was that. I'm hoping the restaurant will see this message n improve on their food n drink quality standards. Other than that my curry tasted great n the egg roll I got was bomb. Everything, buttt my tea was fresh tasting. Also the lil side soup could've been better, again raw veggies, idk what gives with that‍... you are greeted at this restaurant by obnoxious signs that say "No coupons Accepted" - these are coupons that are still valid (is this even legal?) I happened to have a coupon so I was disappointed to see the restaurant treat "new" customers like this. I cam here only because of the coupon btw. Nice way of treating prospective customers. These coupons are a form of advertising and obviously it worked if I am in your restaurant. Anyways minus several stars for this treatment, The spicy noodles were pretty good. The noodles were very flimsy and falling apart. The flavoring was good. The vegetable delight was better than expected. The gravy has nice flavor to it. The lunch specials come with a salad - which is a chunk of iceberg lettuce with a creamy dressing on it, The dressing was tasty, I called in the order and still I had to wait 10-15 minutes for my order. Updating this review, unfortunately downgrading. I've been coming here for over a year, and had no complaints until a couple months ago. Pad Thai went through a change of ownership, and the quality of my experience has since gone down. The majority of my orders are to go, I always order the same thing, and it is always packaged the same way. The past few times I've gone here, I've been getting less and less volume of curry to the point that the container I'm given is barely over half full. This is coming from a restaurant that would always fill to the brim! I don't understand why I keep getting shorted. Also, I've noticed the quality of the curry has also gone down. It would always be rich and creamy, thick with coconut milk and plenty of sliced peppers, bamboo and chicken. Now, the consistency is almost becoming watery. I'm extremely disappointed with the direction Pad Thai seems to be going. My visits are becoming much less frequent, and if I don't see improvements, I will stop coming altogether. When I walked in, I noticed some changes in the scenery. I thought perhaps a new owner or management. Then, I noticed the food was of different quality. I'm used to the peanut butter sauce noodles being with thick and creamy peanut butter with dashes of chopped peanuts in the mix; now, it's more like a hint of peanut butter sauce noodles with out chopped peanuts. As for the pineapple fried rice, I noticed they deleted the onions and the tiny green onions. The Pad Kee Mao was missing the same. Regrettably, I took for granted what I had been used to. Needless to say, but I will say it anyway, the portions are not like before. This review is not only telling you about this Thai restaurant. It's happening all over our country, nearing the end of this review, I realize what's coming. They're slogan is "Best Thai Food" or something on the lines of that, but I have to disagree. I found this restaurant on www.restaurant.com ($25 certificate if you spend $35.. and the website always has promos where it's $2-6 instead of the $10 cost). I live in RB so Escondido isn't too far and we came here for lunch yesterday. The place is in an old strip mall. Inside, was your average Thai place. Being that it was Friday, and it's Lent, and I can't eat meat, we ordered: the fried shrimp rolls (6.25), the shrimp tom yum hot pot (9.95), hot basil pompano (whole fish) (10.95), and the garlic pepper tilapia (whole fish) (10.95). The prices were beyond reasonable because the size of the dishes were huge. The tom yum was too sweet for my liking - they put pineapple slices in it which threw off the taste from the sour and spicy flavors that I'm used to and that I enjoy. The fish dishes were plentiful and were decent. If it was filet fish, it miight be better because the flavors don't really soak up into the middle flesh of the fish. Mediocre thai food at best. Service was pretty slow and I never had a refill on my water. By the end of the meal, I was so parched, but just waited to get home because the water was luke warm to begin with. Also, when the soup came out, there were no bowls. And when the food came out, there were no plates. So each time, we had to request for these items which should be given initially. read more

Awful experience! Gone are the friendly servers. They are replaced by stone-faced servers who never meet your eyes. We went in today for lunch. There were about 4 tables occupied; no one was serving or hosting. We sat ourselves at a vacant table. A middle aged woman appeared, then a teenager both wearing black-- they are apparently running the place. No acknowledgment, no eye contact. The teenager went to a table behind me then did a doubletake, took a couple of menus and handed them to us without uttering a word. My husband and I talked a bit, no water was brought (unlike the time when the former servers were there). We wait... Then a new customer comes in. He sits himself, the teenager brings him water and a menu. He then brings waters to other tables; not ours. He then goes back to the new guy and takes the guy's order! We thought by this time, surely we'll get service. Nope. Teenager goes into the kitchen. By that time, we lost patience and left. Servers are incredibly rude. Ok here's my problem. I've come to this restaurant quite a few times (15?). Why? Because the food is good when it's done right. When the younger girl is there I don't have any problems with my order. But every time I come in and the older lady takes our order she is slow, confused about everything, and gets things wrong. I'm absolutely ticked off about dealing with her. I don't mind if people mess up, apologize, and then correct themselves. But she messes up often and then claims you didn't say any of the things she messed up. We ordered crispy shrimp rolls and hot basil fried rice. I said I wanted my spice a "9" this is the second time she's gotten me hot basil fried rice with that was not hot. Unless they mean hot by temperature then it should have some kind of spice no matter what. She proclaims I didn't say I wanted spice 9 each time she's gotten it wrong, when I most definitely did. (I love my food hot) We also ordered crispy shrimp rolls and she claims we didn't say that either. It's absolutely ridiculous. As much as I've wanted to like this place because the food is good. I will not be going back. I can't chance/take it anymore. Right now my bf is driving back to get my order fixed. Normally I angrily deal with it but I couldn't this time. I stumbled upon this place and fell in love. It's a hole in the wall in an outdated strip mall, but the food is amazing! Just as good as real Thai on the beach in Thailand. Stunned. When the Pad Thai, their namesake and signature dish, came from the kitchen it had the strong smell of dirty gym socks! And it tasted worse!! I let the waitress know I did not care for it. Another man came over and took my uneaten food away back to the kitchen. He returned to say "this is how we always make it" "Sorry, you will still have to pay for it". What the heck?
