Joined about 12 friends for a meal here. We had a reservation so it wasn't a problem. Only strange thing was we had to order at the bar as the three tables next to the bar don't have a server assigned? Weird? Not a huge issue as we were served fairly fast for such a large party. Started with an app., scotch egg. It was good but first time I hard one with a soft yolk. I thought it was a bit light on the sausage surrounding the egg, Minnesota State Fair still has the best. The main course arrived shortly after. I had the fish and chips. All I can say is WOW! Batter was light and crispy. Outstanding flavor on the batter and the Alaskan cod. You get plenty to eat. FF were crispy and piled high. Good value. The decor is Irish all the way with plenty of booze, in fact the biggest wall selection I've ever seen. We were in Oregon fir a day and decided to go back to Paddy's. We had good memories from 2019 when we were in Portland and went to paddy's everyday and had the crop nachos and lots to drink. Even celebrated New years. We went back and ordered nachos but now they are with tortilla chips not Irish nachos with potato crisp :( was disappointed but happy to come and see Paddy again. I love Irish Pubs and found this place on a trip out to Portland that was close to my hotel. Walked down around 8PM to get a Guinness and some food. There was one other group of people there, so decided to belly up to the bar to watch the end of the MNF game. Both the bartenders were friendly and chatted with me as they were prepping to close. There are plenty of drinks to choose from, but I stuck with my Guinness (perfect pour) and ordered the Bangers & Mash (bartender recommended over Fish & Chips). Little bar with excellent quality food at a low price. We were surprised/impressed by how good the food was. This was just a few of us trying to choose where to go. There are four different bars in this strip mall; one had only high bar stools, (Not appropriate for on older person.), another smelled like smoke as soon as you opened the door...Then there was Paddy's; which was clean, had table seating, and served food. We weren't expecting much due to the prices, but everything was cooked properly, had fabulous quality meat, and tasted great, fries are FRESH!!! They appear to be just cut. This is a cool little Irish bar. Great Decker great location downtown Portland close to the waterfront. We had beers we had some shots. We had a great appetizer meal. Came here for a work thing and was not disappointed. It wasn't too long of a wait to order drinks and they put out an awesome spread for us. The french fries were delicious and I actually really liked their cheese sauce. Often times it ends up being overwhelming but this had a more smooth flavor. Let me just say as a born and raised Oregonian I'm always looking for the best spots. This without a doubt is my favorite Irish pub in Oregon. The beer cheese pretzel is always consistently great and they serve Guinness the perfect way slightly cold and with a good foam head on top. When we entered the bartender greeted us and told us to sit anywhere. You just have to walk to the bar to order. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food is excellent from what we did order. We got the Rubin with garlic fries and the chicken pita wrap. I left nothing behind. It was delicious. Used to be regulars at Paddy's and loved going there. Stopped by this afternoon for cocktails and an early dinner and were deeply disappointed. The server was absolutely clueless and rude and couldn't get the drinks right. The Caesar Chicken Salad was gross to say the best. With the smoked chicken being burned, not smoked. $50 for a salad and 2 cocktails is absurd. Love the location, love the building, but oh my God, just no. Probably won't be going there again, which is deeply sad because this was a cornerstone of Portland. Perhaps they'll figure it out. Who knows? But really, at this point, I wouldn't bother. read more

As we walked by, we made a comment about their "All The Booze" sign. Then we decided to go in, and our thought was, "Yeah, ok, it's pretty legit," especially after seeing the shelves behind the bar. Me and a couple of others were walking around downtown and wanted to grab a meal, most places were closed since it was past 10. So we go into the building and sit down, a couple of us go to order. The bartender then asks to show her our IDs. Now don't get me wrong, the rules are the rules and a couple of us were underage so it was okay to be denied service. But the issue was she checked two people's IDs before me who were under 21 and let them stay, then checked mine and booted me. Then, didn't even bother to check anyone else's IDs when clearly half of the group was underage. Again, I don't mind being denied service. But if you are going to be strict on one person, then do the same for everyone else. read more

Our bartender/server was Molly. She was attentive and polite and carried conversation with us throughout our meal. My husband and I came for a late lunch following some errands and the bar was empty! We sat at an open booth and it was pretty comfortable. The ceilings are high and every where is REALLY clean. I have eaten at a couple establishments recently where you can tell that grime and dust cling to everything. This is not the case here, despite being open since the 80s, everything seemed to be in working order. Including the bathrooms. Even though there was wallpaper coming off a little, it was so much cleaner than I expected a bar downtown to be. I ordered a mocktail at Molly's discretion and she brought me back something fruity and tasty. Only $8. My husband got an IPA on tap that he said was good. We got the Mac and cheese bites (made to order it seemed as it did NOT seem frozen or premade) with a smoky ketchup. I would maybe pair these with a ranch or something instead. We also had the big Irish burger. It was juicy and a massive plate of fries with it. We shared and were very full after. The caramelized onions on the sandwich tasted more like Guinness than onion but my husband liked it. I didn't care for it but I could see how others may. My only complaint! I can't say much about the ambiance, the menu, or the service at Paddy's, as my one and only experience here (thus far) has been their St. Patrick's Day festival. A $25 cover is a bit steep, and the drinks served inside were smaller than I'd like, but it's a damn fine party. Live music all day, relatively quick lines, and a jovial, lively atmosphere. Their location in downtown is a bit of a bummer; I didn't even know they existed prior to this last weekend. However, what I saw (briefly) of the interior was warmly appointed and inviting, so I cam curious to return and check things out in a more subdued atmosphere. Whether or not they're a worthy rival to Kells, Kelly's and other storied Irish bars in Portland, has yet to be determined (to me, anyway). read more

After a long drive into Portland, I was looking for a place to stop and this place was one of the only spots that's open late nights which was super convenient after a long day of driving. The food here was really great along with the service. I had the nachos and a cup of tomato basil. The nachos were so killer and the drinks were top of the line. I had a Paloma and it wasn't too heavy on the alcohol where you couldn't enjoy the drink but not light that you couldn't taste or feel the alcohol. On a recent visit to Portland, I ended up stopping in here twice. The first time was super cool, had assistance from a waitresses and had some good food, some good drinks and then went on our way. When we are leaving, we have time to kill and say, why not, let's hit Paddys again. This time no waitress, which sucked. Poor bartender was running food, handling the bar and kind of doing a one man show. That may be cheaper for the owners, but really messes with the customer experience. Nevertheless, our bartender was awesome and the drinks were delicious. I kind of regret not trying the irish coffee sooner. That was so freaking delicious, I can't even describe it. Just delicious. So I hadn't been in Paddy's for about 20 years I'm guessing, not real reason why other than I moved to California for 10 years and don't go into Portland much. Firstly the service was wonderful, we order two Scotch Eggs which were wonderful, crispy on the outside and the egg yoke was just runny. The sausage meat was also delicious. We all ordered pints of Guinness which tasted amazing. I ordered The Bangers and Mash and really enjoyed them the sausages were wonder and mash potato champ was amazing. Really enjoyed this drop in visit to Paddy's. Even though COVID has detoured their clientele, the staff was super positive, friendly and very helpful. We didn't phone in our order so waited in the bar for our bangers and mash plus Irish egg rolls. Several Yelpers dropped by to pick up their orders and it was fun to distance chat with them while we sipped our IPAs. Hobnobbing with the staff was the best as we learned what City life is now like for them. Fun and cozy bar atmosphere. Our goodies arrived shortly and we took off for my waterfront balcony to enjoy the rest of the Happy Hour with a full growler and our Happy Hour sustenance. The grub was delicious. Traditional bangers and mash which we turned into appetizers for three.
