It was fine. We went after the Shamrock run and it was very crowded and very loud. You have to order at the bar and then they bring it to your table. The food is fine. We didn't get anything special just some loaded fries and a beer. They do have outside seating as well.

Lamb stew and espresso martini month special

Came in mid day for espresso martini month. The bar was pretty full but otherwise it wasn't too busy. Great ambiance with plenty of cozy booths to relax in with a drink. The espresso martini was tasty and strong. The cup of lamb stew hit the spot and the roll that came with it was so good. Honestly it's not my usual type of spot but I'd be back for sure when it's quiet like this. It was the perfect place to catch up with a friend or get lost in a book. Bartender was friendly and seemed to have some regulars too.

We were in Oregon fir a day and decided to go back to Paddy's. We had good memories from 2019 when we were in Portland and went to paddy's everyday and had the crop nachos and lots to drink. Even celebrated New years. We went back and ordered nachos but now they are with tortilla chips not Irish nachos with potato crisp :( was disappointed but happy to come and see Paddy again. We had local beer and headed back. It was nice to see the place but nothing out of the ordinary to write home about. Service was good nice ambiance.

I love Irish Pubs and found this place on a trip out to Portland that was close to my hotel. Walked down around 8PM to get a Guinness and some food. There was one other group of people there, so decided to belly up to the bar to watch the end of the MNF game. Both the bartenders were friendly and chatted with me as they were prepping to close. There are plenty of drinks to choose from, but I stuck with my Guinness (perfect pour) and ordered the Bangers & Mash (bartender recommended over Fish & Chips). This combo was perfect and plenty to eat.

Little bar with excellent quality food at a low price. We were surprised/impressed by how good the food was. This was just a few of us trying to choose where to go. There are four different bars in this strip mall; one had only high bar stools, (Not appropriate for on older person.), another smelled like smoke as soon as you opened the door...Then there was Paddy's; which was clean, had table seating, and served food. We weren't expecting much due to the prices, but everything was cooked properly, had fabulous quality meat, and tasted great, fries are FRESH!!! They appear to be just cut. They have great flavor and not oily. Actually none of their food was greasy. They only take cash; but they have an ATM if needed.

This is a cool little Irish bar. Great Decker great location downtown Portland close to the waterfront. We had beers we had some shots. We had a great appetizer meal. We had the loaded fries, fish, and chips and the brussels sprouts hands-down best I've ever had. Great price amazing service definitely recommend this place solid five star.

Helluva great Irish pub. Best Shepard's pie I have had outside of a homemade one. Great Irish coffee. Such a cool vibe. Excellent service at lunch. Looking forward to checking this out at night too!

Came here for a work thing and was not disappointed. It wasn't too long of a wait to order drinks and they put out an awesome spread for us. The french fries were delicious and I actually really liked their cheese sauce. Often times it ends up being overwhelming but this had a more smooth flavor. The atmosphere was fun and casual and while weren't sitting in the main area it was still a fun place to be at. I enjoyed looking at their bottle wall!

Drinks were great and so was the service. The food menu was very limited, and we thought that taking the shepherd pie will be the best choice. Unfortunately, it was extra salty and preheated in the microwave and did not resemble anything like a shepherd pie... just a mash of ingredients. Really not a good choice which is surprising for an Irish pub.

The vibe was fun and welcoming, and it felt like a great place to hang out with friends. The spicy margaritas were definitely a highlight--$12 and really good, though they may have been a daily special. Either way, they were worth it. I want to say it's on par with the better Northwest offerings like the Irish Heather in Vancouver, The Irish Times in Victoria, or Murphy's in Seattle. But I can't. Because every time I'm here I'm just reminded of all the things it isn't. The menu looks somewhat right on paper, but it's little things like the spice and bake on the sausage rolls, the fact that they won't give you curry and chips without ordering the whole chicken entree ordeal, the somewhat dry and mealy burger. Then there are the drinks: There's a Guinness on, but the Magners is in the bottle. And then there's the whole brewpub element that was introduced a few years ago that baffles me. There are so many breweries in town, and so many quality Irish breweries, that I have no idea why you'd brew a middling beer lineup of your own AND make an Irish stout and red, of all things. But the most disappointing part of The Kells is that it's all the worst parts of the pubs in cities I just mentioned without containing any of their finer points. Stripped of history, taplist, menu, and other comforts, it's just a place where suburbanites come into the city, get loud for a few hours, pay their few quid, and leave without doing much else in the area. Compared to the Leaky Roof, T.C. O'Leary's or the city's English pubs like the Rose and Thistle or Moon and Sixpence, The Kells seems detatched and at arm's length from anything. that might resemble a community. I've heard they've done (double-decker English) buses to Timbers and Thorns matches, and I hear they're basically propping up the city's St. Patrick's Day festivities, but there's something artificial to it. It's a shame. I know the founders came from Belfast and I know the family is still very much involved, but although the staff is always pleasant when I come in, there's very little about the place that makes me want to return. It doesn't repel me, but a pub should draw me in more than this one does.

Decorating the walls are a large Jameson's Irish Whiskey mirror and a variety of photos, sayings, and Irish knickknacks. Absent the sound of a telltale accent, you won't know whether you're in Lake Oswego or Limerick. Appetizer favorites include Bavarian Bangers (soft pretzel and banger sausage) and Pan Seared Brussel Sprouts. The menu includes staples (Fish N' Chips, Shepherd's Pie, Bangers & Mash, etc.) as well as a selection of sandwiches and burgers. My wife and I ordered two drinks sitting at the bar (one for her and one for me). He then proceeded to take orders for people who showed up at the well and at the bar after us. Both of these people got their drinks BEFORE us. I thought this was odd but didn't make a big deal of it as we come her very often and I love the regular bartenders (not this kid). We wait for 10 minutes or so as he makes the people that showed up after us drinks and the waiters/tables orders drinks. Odd but not the worst. I order a espolon tequila and soda tall. It comes and I drink it within 10-15 minutes as we're in a rush to see a movie in an hour and I like to have a few drinks before pizza and a movie at Hollywood. After waiting so long for the first drink and him taking care of two people that ordered after us BEFORE US, I asked if I could get two drinks for my next round (I've done this literally 60 times at least at this bar with no issues as it's often packed and we're in a rush to catch a movie every-time we go and the bartenders are always super understanding of time constraints catching movies next door). He says "who's the other drink for???" I'm in my 40s and was dead sober/only had the previous drink all day. I say, "myself... I just figured I'd order two because I can see you're pretty slammed and we need to catch a movie soon". He says "I can't do two drinks but I can do a DOUBLE"!! So let me get this straight.... I can't get TWO watered down drinks but I CAN get ONE very stiff DOUBLE drink!!! I get this kid is likely 25, but saying I can't get two drinks but can get a double makes literal zero sense. He probably is very new to the service industry but doubles are far more intense than giving someone two tall drinks (I have dozens of friends around the world that own bars and doubles are always 10x more of a red flag). Just being confrontational for zero reason when every other time we've been here they are always super understanding to all the movie goers short schedule. I say, "I'll just do an another regular/single tequila soda..." I finish my second drink after being there for 30 minutes (I know because I literally checked my watch when we walked in as the movie was starting shortly and I'm very punctual). I try to order my third and final drink and he tells my wife I'm cut off. I've been going to bars all over the world at least 4/5 days a week for the last 20 years and NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE BEEN CUT OFF. I was dead ass sober. This man-child told me that he wasn't comfortable giving me a 3rd drink after 30 minutes of us being there and after I told him we're in a rush to catch a movie. I don't understand this awful customer service at an IRISH BAR. I'm first gen IRISH and drinking two x alcohol and soda (tall so very watered down) drinks in 30 minutes is not uncommon anywhere. I wasn't being confrontational and still tipped this idiot when anyone in my shoes wouldn't have (ps I usually tip 40% at bars and tipped him 10% due to his asshole demeanor). F him and until he leaves I'm not coming back. All the female bartenders here treat the regulars like family which is why my wife and I have been coming here for almost a decade. Hope ownership sees this. This gen z puritanical power tripping dork needs to go.
