I love this place. An honest mechanic is hard to find and the guys here at Padilla's are incredibly trustworthy. I recently brought my car in because my car was shaking and the check engine light came on. I assumed I needed new spark plugs but it was actually a leak in my block and coolant was spray on my spark plugs. The diagnosed my problem and repaired it the same day and billed me $90. This was my first time here, but it definitely won't be my last! My truck was at the Toyota dealership for 2 days last week for an oil change and to check out an odd sound (like a diesel truck), but they said it was fine. I was debating taking it to a different dealership for a second opinion, but luckily my awesome neighbor recommended Padilla's! I pulled up and Jose greeted me like I've known him for years. He agreed that there was an odd sound and he pulled my truck in to his shop. It didn't take him and his assistant (also very nice) very long at all to diagnose the issue. I discovered the shop when Firestone would not put in a part because I bought it directly from another store. They referred me to Padilla and he has been excellent. He is honest, inexpensive for an auto shop, and he won't do unnecessary work. If there is any fly at all it is not attributable to him but to his son whom he's trying to train Who does not return phone calls promptly. Like the friendly and quick service. Brought in a 2013 Prius badly in need of oil. Car was borrowed by a relative who might have ignored oil issue a bit too long. Jose suggested slightly heavier synthetic oil, given 155k miles on the car. Thankfully, car seems to run fine. He also checked other fluids, did a safety check, turned off warning light, posted a reminder sticker, and sent me on my way with a $60 bill. Total time in the shop, say 10 minutes. read more

I called ahead to verify they can do an oil change before driving out, as I needed it done that day. I read all the reviews and took a chance. It's a small 2 bay shop maybe 3.. parking is none as they are stuck between the Subaru dealership. But park infront however you can, just don't block access. I found someone and said I need an oil service. They took my keys, played musical cars to get my truck in the lube bay. They don't vacuum or wash your windows stuff, just change my oil. No 100 point inspection to get you to pay triple from what you can replace yourself for a 1/3 the cost at AutoZone. Just change my oil. I waited about.....20-25 mins in the small 5 seat waiting area, and Bam! Paid my total amount due and was gone.. While I waited I spoke to a couple that has been coming back for years... This is unusual, as no one comes back for years... obviously not the same issue, but random things. I listened to the stories as other customers came in and all agreed that this Family owned shop is legit. A true Father and Son business. See to me, it's not commercials, or cleanliness or location that I find to be my first choice. It's the stories I read here on Yelp from 5 stars to 1 star. It's a mess, parts everywhere, cars parked in tight spots, no free coffee, cluttered office, small waiting room, 5-6 guys standing around, parts and parts and parts wall to wall, and that's what I like. Reminds me of my Dads tire shop growing up. Over all... if I have an issue with any of my cars outside my warranty. I will make an appointment to drop off my car here. The prices are far less, it's true honest people building a relationship of trust, honest work to go home to their families to teach their kids to be honest themselves. I like this father-son business. Oil change for $30, 20-25 minutes. They got me in right away. They were very friendly. Don't expect anything bougie, it's far from it. Padilla's was recommended by someone who is the go-to when it comes to car mechanics. Sadly it did not live up to expectations or it's stellar reviews. Several people mentioned they had free check engine diagnostics, but I was quoted $90 despite already having the codes. The fee reduced to $45 after we did the repairs. Nearly $400 for oil change, parts and service on an aftermarket oxygen sensor. They make their living by overcharging on parts, DH found the same part online for over $100 less. The insult to injury is they used higher viscosity engine oil on my vehicle with out communication. When I brought it back Jose Sr. said it's customary for higher mileage vehicles, but that is an opinion and not a fact. After all that's not what the manufacturer recommends and I trust an engineer's testing over his gut feeling. I say this because my car has always driven fine but after this recent oil change my MPG has gone down and the vehicle feels powerless.The RPM is also higher than it typically is. I am considering taking it somewhere else to have the oil change redone. This is irritating bc that's more time and $$ out of my pocket. I wish they respected the customer on this. Lastly, their waiting area is almost nonexistent and unless you're male, I wouldn't recommend using their restroom; even if you are, beware the of mold in many places. read more

We generally worry about honesty when it comes to an auto shop, knowing that great risk comes with trusting a stranger who can take your credit card hostage with false claims. This is not a problem at Padilla's. I took my car to another place for an oil change, and the mechanic said my brakes were shot, that I needed new rotors etc. Really, really bad he said. I declined, as there was a signal going off that suggested sneakery was afoot. After reading about Padilla's on Yelp, I headed on over there, and the mechanic took a quick look at my brakes, and declared them fine, but suggested I have them serviced after two or three more oil changes.
