And I'm not sure what the "sparse" comment in another review is talking about. I'm a big guy who can EAT and about a quarter of the time I can't finish the sandwich. Heard about this place for a while and never been. Finally one day I was in the area and decided to get some breakfast. I had the grit bowl with bacon as my choice of meat. It consist of grits, eggs, potatoes, cheese and your choice meat. I have no complaints. It was a very hearty filling bowl. Well seasoned. And best part it was reasonably priced. I mean This bowl cost less than my latte at a nearby coffee shop so...... And it was pretty quick. Nothing fancy but you really can't beat it. Man I really want to like this place but this is the second time that I've had a disappointing experience here. I went to get "breakfast" this afternoon and ordered a mushroom sweet potato turnover and tried to order a breakfast taco without egg because the menu made it sound kind of optional, but was dissuaded into getting a grilled cheese because it would be more filling. I made it really clear that I couldn't eat eggs and while I am not anaphylactically allergic, eggs cause me to have migraines or debilitating stomach pain, so I definitely try to avoid them when I can, and was especially clear about the intolerance today because I had a food poisoning incident I'm freshly recovered from (of which they were not made aware but I was adamant that I couldn't do egg). Truly the last thing I needed was another inflammatory ingredient in my body right now. Anyway they brought the grilled cheese (did not bring the turnover, I think because they thought I was trying to order one or the other?? My homie covered me so I didn't look at the actual order) and I ate the first half and it kind of felt like there was some kind of spread on the bread and as I was eating it I realized it was mayonnaise. aka egg . I went up to the window to ask if there was mayo and the guy said yes and asked if I couldn't eat mayo and I had to inform him that mayonnaise is made out of eggs? As someone also in the service industry that feels kinda crazy to me that you wouldn't be aware that mayonnaise is made of eggs, especially at a place that obviously cares about having vegan options. They gave me a mushroom turnover for free which I do appreciate, but overall that was really frustrating and just kind of irresponsible and I can only hope that I didn't eat enough of the mayo to have any reaction :/ This whole thing honestly makes me feel like I won't be coming back here, especially in this day and age it feels weird to me that you wouldn't know the ingredients of the food you're serving. I'm sorry to leave a negative review this place is so cute and the coffee is great and their chai is spicy and unsweetened and they have anti-gravity and I really wish it was awesome but dang how do you not know mayonnaise is egg!! That's like the only ingredient!!! Very grateful I am not anaphylactically allergic that would have been really awful. Please be mindful y'all! read more

I recently discovered this place when I was visiting another restaurant next door and I was determined to come to Pagoda one day when I saw so many positive reviews. I got a grilled cheese sandwich, guava cream puff, and blue eyes iced tea to go. Everything was so fresh and filling. They also elegantly make their teas by offering option to add in rose or lavender in them. We visit from Houston, therefore I like to say we know what good breakfast tacos consist of. It's difficult to find places that look worth trying while we are traveling. But Pagoda is a place I'll visit everytime I'm here. This is the type of food that only comes from true home cooking. Which has become rare in this day and age. I visited Pagoda with some friends for a mid-morning snack. I had the mushroom turnover with an iced green tea and my friends both had the sausage roll. These hand-held snacks were small but exactly what we needed! The mushroom turnover was flavorful and the pastry was perfect. My friends liked the sausage rolls too! This was our favorite spot to pick up breakfast on our trip. This cafe is super cute and has a lot of outdoor seating. You order at the counter and wait for your food at a table. It takes maybe 5-10 minutes for your order to be ready unless you are just ordering already made pastries. We love breakfast tacos and these are decent and packed full. The salsa is a must. We also had the banana nutella bread which was a huge, decadent slice. They have a bunch of other yummy sounding pastries and sandwiches, but I couldn't say no to a breakfast taco! Rather disappointed in the "speed" of service last few times I've been here. Sure the food is good, the cashier is awesome but there's A LOT to be desired in terms of however the Hell their ticket system is. I'm typing this as I'm still sitting here waiting over 45 minutes for coffee and tacos. It's not like there's much on the tacos: eggs, potatoes, cheese. I've watched a table of eight finish their entire meals before their drinks came out. Not sure how they prioritize orders but how about, as the ticket is put in, you work on finishing that ticket before moving onto the next? I dunno. There is no picture because I ate it all before that even crossed my mind. Also had an Americano with half & half for my walk. Listen up! I'd eat here everyday if I could afford it. These breakfast tacos DO NOT MISS. I had the regular taco, the tofu taco, and the bacon taco. All three slapped and the green sauce that accompanied pulled it all together. The coffee gave what it needed to as well. There's no indoor seating. There's plenty of outdoor seating and most of it is covered. The also had a heater on in the covered area. I was with my toddler for the day and she loved the fresh fruit cup and her hot chocolate milk. I have to go back alone so I can try some other food items. Y'all don't sleep on this gem. We regularly grab some tacos (two flour, two corn tortilla, all with bacon) and coffee (and a cowgirl cookie or two) and dine on the covered patio area. They offer gluten free options, vegetarian, pork or turkey bacon. I think there is even a vegan option. The jalapeño salsa is EVERYTHING!!! I recently moved in this area and I stopped by for lunch. I ordered 2 Tofu Tacos & Let me tell you.. they were So delicious!! I'm from New Orleans so I had to ask if the tacos would be seasoned lol. We live in Mid City just a few minutes bike ride from here, and we have been coming up to get bread from Leo Bread (just across) for quite some time. We noticed that people were ALWAYS coming by to get food and drinks from Pagoda, and decided to grab a late breakfast the other day. Well, that was a game changer, for sure. This place is just killer. First, the folks that work here are so great. Just such nice and welcoming people! That is always nice to have. Second, their coffees are RIGHTEOUS. Seriously, best cold brew I've had in Nola. The Cafe au Lait was good too, according to my wife. Then, the food - the breakfast tacos are really tasty and full of eggs and such, the sausage roll was awesome and really filling, and the mushroom and sweet potato turnover was interesting (not our favorite, but good, really - just personal taste). I love this coffee spot. There was plenty of street parking. I got my usual iced matcha latte and it was pretty good. They have a great menu of coffee and noncoffee and food items. I also really enjoyed their sausage roll and bacon burrito. Good portions and prices in my opinion. They have a good COVID safe system of ordering at a window then picking up at a table. Pagoda Cafe is a small restaurant in Midcity a few blocks off of Esplanade. They are a breakfast place and have great breakfast tacos and drinks. I enjoy getting 2 tacos with bacon and a London Fog latte. There is no indoor seating, but they have a beautiful patio with several tables. You order at the counter outside and they call out your name with you order from the side door. The tacos are very good. They come with eggs and potatoes, and you can add bacon too. They also give you this wonderful green salsa that adds a nice kick. They are wrapped in foil, so they are very good to take on the go with you. They get pretty busy, so try to get there early or there will be a wait to order and get your food. They are very strict about masks on the property. read more
