We went here Thursday evening. We've been here plenty of times before & was usually a great experience. Thursday was the worst. We received our food an hour and 30 minutes after we were seated (we were seated immediately and was there for 2 hours). Our appetizer came out almost the same time as our dinner and was cold, no warmth to it. When we finally received our dinners, my daughter's cheeseburger was overcooked (she ordered medium) it came out well done and zero cheese. My other daughter ordered sweet potato fries, they were left off. I ordered my burger medium rare- it was past the well done point and the cheesy hash browns that was ordered on the side instead of on it was left off completely. We ordered drinks and they were decent so we thought we'd order another round of drinks. After waiting until we were done with our dinner and was ready to go we requested just to cancel the drinks since it had been so long and after sitting for two hours we were just finished. I will say that my husbands steaks was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. I'm not sure if they've recently hired new help and they just don't have them trained correctly yet or what but it'll be a while before we try them again after that. read more

Very cute bar with great ambience. Lots of country feel to it, cow hides hanging from second level balcony add to the feel of a cowboy bar and hang out. The new menu, management and decor has totally revamped the place from the former establishment that used to be called Two Sisters Pub. I used to think the place was a decent bar, but now the new focus on quality food and service is fantastic. I tried the Tish Facos (catfish tacos with a spicy aioli). It was wonderful. I still adore Frank and Lola's restaurant up the road, but the Painted Horse is a very welcome new addition for dining in downtown Bartlesville. read more

once of my main "go to" places after work in downtown Bartlesville. No-nonsense service and this place isn't usually too busy. One must explore the menu a bit to find the uright sandwich, entree or appetizer, but they have a decent selection. The port and beef dishes are usually good. The shrimp appetizer is easily big enough for two people. Knob Creek bourbon and Shiner Bock beer is served here, so that meets my ocassional needs at dinner time. I visited for lunch on a Wednesday and there was plenty of seating. Really enjoyed my brisket sandwich (one of the options of the "in the bun" sandwich). With grilled veggies and TONS of cheese it was moist and delicious. My friend and I were seated on the second floor, which is along the walls and open in the middle. Looking around at tables near us, most patrons had ordered one of the speciality burgers or one of the macaroni and cheese meals. I ordered the Ribeye, medium well. It came out medium rare. Waiter took it to kitchen and returned it grilled properly. Apparent miscommunication somewhere. I was disappointed with the steak as it had gristle from end to end and was very tough to cut and chew. So, a 5 star, for the Q Burger, a 4 star for service, a 5 star for atmosphere, and a 2 star for the tough, $28 Ribeye, for an average of 4 stars. Tip, steer clear of the expensive steaks and stick with the $10-$12 speciality burgers. read more

Painted Horse was the perfect pit stop after day in the Bartlesville area. The food and service were both good, and the covered outdoor seating was enjoyable on a temperate afternoon. The Hog Heaven is their 5 cheese mac with pulled pork and bacon, and was the perfect side. Their fresh fries are crispy and delicious, and the brisket nachos are a filling appetizer loaded with cheese. The tish faco is basically a fried catfish wrap, get an extra side of the ghost pepper aioli to dip your fries in! Overall, this is a good stop for the area, and a pleasant experience for my first visit to Bartlesville. I would come here again if in the area. read more

We had a wonderful meal here when we were in town last weekend. I really wanted to go to Frank and Lola's, but with 11 people and two kids, I absolutely had to go somewhere that took reservations, so Painted Horse won out, and I'm glad it did. Thankful to Yelp for helping me find it. I called and got us a reservation upstairs and they were so accommodating with us. We had a gang of Australians and a couple of kids, and there were lots of special orders, drinks needed, etc. Our server did a great job handling all of us. My husband got a salmon bowl thing that he absolutely loved. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was excellent, though I also ended up eating some of the kids' mac and cheese, as well as a bite of hamburger and some stolen fries. Everything I tried was really good, and you absolutely could not beat it for location to our hotel (Hilton Garden Inn), cool decor (original tin ceiling), friendly service, and a menu with lots of variety for our wide-ranging crew. A band started playing as we finished up our meal, and they were really good. Some of us had to leave early to get little ones home, but the Aussies and Chicagoans stayed and partied and had a really fun evening. Thanks to Painted Horse for taking care of us. read more

The "Tish Facos" (their cleverly named catfish wrap) was good but fish was dry/over cooked. The fried zucchini and mushrooms were great. Chicken fried steak will make any Texan proud, but the sides were terribly under seasoned (French fries, mashed potatoes, beans). The chocolate cheesecake was the only plate that was cleaned, and the only leftovers we kept were veggies and hummus. The green curry very weak... needed far more curry, as it was quite bland. I've been to this restaurant a couple of times the food is always good and I like the atmosphere. I stopped by one evening to have a drink maybe 2. But, the bartender had the personality of a toad and didn't really act like she wanted to be there or care about her customers. I asked for suggestions what here specialty was, she handed me the menu and acted all put out. It was easy to leave after one drink with no regrets and walk across the street to the hotel bar where they were happy to see you and serve you even though they had limited menu. Ate here after visiting Woolaroc and had good chicken fried steak and my parents had really tasty catfish tacos. The beer tap selection is also great with some nice microbrews from Kansas and Oklahoma. When I left I accidentally left my purse hanging on my chair.
