I grew up nearby so when this spot opened I gave it I shot and I remember it not being great. Tonight I was stopping by a place nearby so out of convenience I gave it another shot. Not good. The pictures speak for themselves. The Buffalo chicken slice was only half covered in toppings (the rest is literally covered in NOTHING). Their plain cheese slice is completely floppy..no crisp. I got to try a whole lot of pizzas from Pakulas at a family event. We must have ordered over fifteen pies. Honestly all of them were very good. The waffle fries pizza was certainly the most unique. The flavor was robust and made for a very filling pizza. My favorite though was the sausage pizza. I have no idea what kind of sausage they use but they should keep using it! I am giving Pakulas an average rating due to their pizza. Ordered a large pie with half plain and the other half with two toppings. The pizza crust was good, as well as the toppings, but what brought the whole thing down was the cheese. Biting into the slice brought back memories of the lunchroom pizza in my high school. I work in the area, I called in a lunch order a house salad with chicken cutlet & a BREADED chicken cutlet with mozzarella & roasted peppers wedge, the salad was correct but the wedge came with grilled chicken, I don't mean to be a pain in the ass, but I WANT what I order, I want what I order, I'm paying for it, so I sent it back, 20 mins later they dropped off the correct order, only problem was they just added a couple of pieces of breaded chicken cutlet on top & placed the grilled on the bottom, so I blew $8.00 because I threw it in the garbage. Was recommended to this spot when I worked in the area about 10-12 years ago and still drive 20 mins out of the way from my home to get their high quality and delicious food. Pakulas is an awesome little pizza place in New City! I have tried a number of their different pizzas and have never had a slice that I didn't like. They also have a great salad area to where you can choose your own ingredients to make your own salad. The rest of the menu is quite good too with a number of selections, but I would recommend the Freakin Chicken...very tasty! The staff is also attentive and great to talk to. About 6 yeas ago we became aware of a new business that had opened in our town of New City, N.Y. As a lifelong resident of Rockland County of a certain age, the name Pakula"s conjures memories of incredible sugary smells, the best Birthday Cakes (my favorite, the Tropical Custard Pie) and trips to the bakery and the Kosher Deli next door for hot dogs and Pastrami sandwiches on special occasions. So when I saw the name Pakula's, I hoped that this iconic and long closed Bakery had been resurrected. When I discovered that this iteration of Pakula's was a Pizza restaurant I admit to feeling disappointed but my hopes were lifted when picking up a pizza I learned that one of the owners was indeed the grandson of owners of the Bakery. So, they make consistently very good to excellent pizzas and we keep going back to soothe that pizza itch. But this past Father's Day I decided to use Pakula's to cater our gathering. All the food (garlic knots, chicken Francese, sausage-onions and peppers, Penne ala Vodka, Eggplant Parmesan, chicken wings and a garden salad were fresh, hot on delivery(not the salad) and delicious. It was a pleasure to not cook for the day and most importantly, each of my guests was happy with the food. While we will continue to get our weekly pizza from Pakula's, but I heartily recommend their food and will not hesitate from ordering food for parties in the future. 2 Hoover read more
