They were very nice and quick. Brought my mom's car recently and they didn't quite fix the problem/issue. They told us to come back and they fixed it right away with no additional charge. Don't let the location or less fancy waiting room fools you. You go to an auto service for your car not a spa. :-) This is The place to go for an honest mechanic and a fair price. I have been having trouble with the car A/C. One regular place that I go to can't figure it out. I spent $165 at a Honda dealer to troubleshoot and suggest replacing the A/C compressor for $1600. Oai at Palace spent 1 hour on it. Since he can't fix it, he didn't charge me but inform that my compressor is good. He did refer me to a specialist who may be able to fix it... fingers crossed... Either way, I now have a go to place to service my car. read more

I originally took my vehicle to a shop that I normally have service it and they advised that I had a leak. They were unable to determine the source as they said there was so much oil that I would need to get the under carriage cleaned at a detail shop first then bring it back. I put it off because I didn't have the ends to pay to get it steam cleaned then pay to have the leak fixed. I ended up taking my vehicle to Palace Auto Services as it is right down the street and they located 2 leaks! Oai (pronounced as "Y") was super honest and charged me a little under $200 for everything (material & labor) and I was able to pick my vehicle up the next day. He also removed a nail from my tire and plugged it for FREE! I am so glad Angela reviewed Palace Auto Service. I will preface this review by saying that I adore Oai and his wife, Amy. Amy and I go way back and Amy is one of my best friends. Okay, now with that small disclaimer out of the way, I will tell you that Oai is the most honest and talented mechanic ever. Honestly. I would never lie to YELP, and Oai is someone who deserves the 5 stars! He will tell you what's wrong with your car and fix it in a short period of time for a reasonable amount of money. I know it sounds like too good to be true, but Oai is just like that. Sometimes you have to wonder how such honest people can run a business and make any money when they're charging you pennies compared to other mechanics. Anyway, he's fixed my Acura, and now he fixes and maintains my Honda, as well as my husband's. He's also fixed this beater Saturn owned by another friend, and this old Nissan owned by this other friend. Oai has also fixed my Mom's old Mercedes, my Dad's beat up mini van, and he will always tell you when it's not worth doing something (what mechanic do you know would do that for you?)!It goes on and on...this is one referral that all of my friends have been grateful for. All of my public interest lawyer friends come to Oai - they wouldn't be able to afford a car without him! Anyway, from small to large car issues, Oai's your man (or should be)! You won't regret it. Ridiculously honest shop. I came here to have my brakes checked by Oai after hearing some faint squealing sounds while going up and down a few hills in the Bay Area. About a half hour after arriving for my same-day appointment, he came back and said everything looked fine and I had at least 3 months left before I had to replace the brake pads. As other reviewers have noted, they don't charge you for bringing your car in (even if they don't find anything wrong with it). I ended up getting my brakes done nearly 3 months later so I can definitely attest to the reliability of his guesstimates. read more

I came based on the reviews Yelp had, and everything people said is true. Jimmy seems like a real stand-up guy who shoots straight-to-the-point. I originally was just getting my oil changed and realized something was wrong with my car. It sputtered a couple of times on me (2007 car!) and I was worried the transmission was messed up. I swear these guys are my favorite mechanics. Recently, my check engine light went off and the first time around they just turned the light off but told me if it went on again to come back (free of charge might I add). Sadly, it came on again so they dug into my car more and found the problem. Had to replace a part. Did it at a reasonable price. Now I'm back for my oil change. Called in on Christmas Eve to see if they can get me in to check on my engine light and they were able to accommodate me on short notice! My engine light has been on and off for about 3 weeks and YES I should have brought it in sooner but the owner I suppose helped me reset my engine light and asked what type of gas I used and I said COSTCO -_____- he said I might need to switch to a different type for now since he has experienced many cars having the same car problems using costco gas (my friend who knows a lot about cars told me that they don't use additives to help upkeep your maintenance of your car in costco gas) and my service that day was FREE OF CHARGE! (He didn't find anything else wrong with my car so if the light comes back on again he suggest I might have to change my sensors and something along those lines. These guys are great! I called yesterday and got an appointment for today to have my brakes checked. As soon I got there they greeted me, asked what the issue was and one of the technicians immediately went over to do the diagnosis. Not long after, he came back and told me my brakes were fine and that I was just low on fluids which is why the indicator light would come on intermittently. I thanked them for checking it out and asked how much I owed. The guy in the office told me they just added brake fluid so no charge. Wow! I was shocked and thanked him. Other places would have charged some kind of fee. I will definitely be back next time my car needs service. They are friendly, efficient and provide great service! read more

I found this place by chance as my car had over heated on the 101 fwy. I did a quick Yelp search and called them at 8 am sharp! I told them what was going on and they told me to come in ASAP. When I got there, Oai and I went over what we believe had failed on the car which was the water pump and belt for the cooling system in my BMW. I had done some research beforehand and did know this was a common problem for my make and model of car. I had read in forums where people pay $1,200 to $2,000 for this service. The first time I came here, they helped me fix a powered steering line that was originally estimated to cost over $800. No thank you. At Palace, they were able to cut that price more than in half. Since then, this has been my go-to location. They do get really busy so I try to call in advance to see if they can fit me in on that day. Most of the time, they can, but sometimes they're too busy. Update on Palace, call me Y, Pete and the guys- I drove this puppy to Oregon and back with not a blip, not a single imperfection in the car they made brand new for me. Of course, a few days before I was leaving, the headlight went out. Bad bulb, no biggy, but the thing just doesn't fit right, it wants to dislodge into the abyss where some fool hit my fender. Can you see tthis in your mind's eye? A 1 1/2" rubber tube, firm, wedged between the battery and the inside of the headlight, holding it in place. It has not budged. Pure poetry. It took some engineering, esp on Pete's part (boy I hope thats his name) and a bit of time. What was I charged? The price of the bulb. Peace out, Palace. read more

Since the reviews were great here on Yelp and the shop is within a mile of my home, I gave them a call to schedule an oil change. They were able to get me in immediately. The wait was about 30 minutes (maybe even less) and the price was quite fair. The gentleman who processed my transaction, was pleasant to work with. He was also very observant and as an fyi made mention of my balding tires that should be addressed and swapped out asap. In addition, he also fixed my creaking driver's side door as a "while you're here, let me take care of this quick fix for you". I'll definitely be checking in with this shop first for any upcoming auto repairs I may need. Great shop team. Honest. Highly recommended. read more
