Visited Palace Social on a Saturday with some friends and their kids. We booked an hour of bowling--$99/hour felt pretty steep, especially considering the setup. That said, they did let us assign bumpers per person, which was a big win for the kids. The bowling lanes themselves seemed smaller than a typical alley, and the seating area for bowlers was definitely tight. With a larger group, it felt pretty cramped. The lanes next to us had a lot of little kids running around, which honestly made things feel a bit unsafe at times. Beyond bowling, there's an arcade that's just okay--some games were out of order, and while they had a VR setup that looked cool, it was totally unattended, so it was unclear whether it even worked. Same for the 4D ride. The sports simulators were empty during our visit, and the dessert area looked like it hadn't been staffed in a while. On the plus side, the bowling attendant was really friendly and helpful--got our orders in, helped us set up bumpers, and checked in on us throughout our time there. Overall, Palace Social has potential, but it felt like the space and staff weren't quite keeping up with the ambition of the concept. Lots of people standing round while just a few people worked hard. Worth checking out if you're with kids, but go in with managed expectations

I tried this place for the first time and loved it! It is a bit pricey (both food and bowling), but overall I was very pleasantly surprised. I reserved dining for a large party online (super easy to do) and was promptly seated upon arrival despite being 15 minutes early. It was a Friday night around 7:30 pm. Parking lot has ample space and shares parking with a few surrounding businesses. The wait staff was attentive and the food was great. Hot fried foods came out piping hot, and when I asked for hot sauce, it came right out. I'm always looking for good fish and chips and this one hit the spot! Once we sat down for dinner, we put our name on the waiting list for bowling and thanks to a bit of luck, our bowling lane was ready right as we finished up dinner. We bowled for an hour and that was that. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend it for a nice, clean activity for families or other groups.

I dined at this restaurant on a Friday night with a party of 9. I made a reservation ahead of time, and was seated promptly. The decor was cute, and the waitress was very friendly. A quick tip: if you are planning on bowling, they don't let you make reservations ahead of time but were able to join the bowling wait list when we got to the restaurant. The wait time for bowling ended up being 1 hour which was fine because that's how long it took us to do dinner. The food was delicious and served piping hot. Our party had the sampler appetizer platter which consisted of crispy fried pickles, buffalo wings, taquitos, boudin eggrolls and mozzarella sticks. The platter was freshly fried, and everything was seasoned nicely. The Astro Bowl was presented beautifully, and the dressed paired well with the salad contents. The fish and chips were DELICIOUS! The portion size was quite generous, and the batter was light and tasty. The fries were crispy, and the hushpuppies were good. The bowling area was smaller than expected, but it was clean and the rental shoes looked new and well maintained. My diagnosis: Superb food and fun place to visit. Food was expensive but worth the experience.

We came here for a company party and had the place all to ourselves. They have bowling, arcade, multi-sport simulator bays, Omni VR arena, and XD dark ride motion simulator. The food was good and the drinks were strong. Their staff were very attentive and friendly. I will definitely come back again.

Came in on a Friday night for date night a few hours before close. It was lively but not too busy, so we didn't have to wait to be sat down at the table. Our waitress was out quickly took our orders pretty fast and our drinks came out fairly quickly. I ordered a chipotle pineapple daiquiri and it was really good, tasted like spicy pineapple juice. My date ordered some type of cosmo it wasn't my favorite but he liked it. As far as the food I ordered their chicken sandwich and it was great, the chicken was good and the slaw added a nice crunch and freshness to it. It also didn't make the buns soggy so that was good. My date ordered the phillycheeese steak and it was alright we both agreed my sandwich was better. Overall, solid food options and I'd eat there again if I'm coming to bowl. Activities wise, since it wasn't too but we only had to wait half an hour to bowl. While we waited we played games in the arcade. It's small but it had a surprising amount of games and cool VR things. Most people were there on dates as well so there weren't a lot of screaming crying kids and that was definitely nice. We had a good time bowling. We ended up going back the following Sunday to waste the rest of our game card credits at the arcade. Same vibe just less busy. It's a cute place and I'd definitely recommend going in for date night!

I visited Palace Social for a recent work event with some colleagues and wasn't sure what to expect as it was my first time going. Upon arrival, we were quickly put in contact with our event host who showed us the facilities. We had two lanes booked for bowling with an array of food setup by our lanes as well as token cards for games and the ability to do virtual reality/ the 3D game center. The entire place was clean and well lit up ... a fun environment. There are eight lanes of bowling so its a small bowling center but it was plenty for a weekday. We quickly checked the players into their lanes and got to bowling. I thought it was fun how you could customize the bowling lane grids/TVs with photos to make it more personable. For food, we had quite a bit (chips w/ trio dips, spinach and artichoke dip, hummus w/ veggies and pita, mini corndogs, quesadillas, mozzarella sticks, taquitos, fried pickles, fried mushrooms and wings). Individually, we all ordered drinks as well. While nothing was bad, I would say the food and drinks were just OK with the quesadilla and spinach artichoke dips being the best things. With that said, it's good for a kids party or a small corporate event. The best part of the entire night was the 3D game play though. This isn't something I expected to like but it was so much fun with my team and the highlight of the night. Overall, this is a place I'd go again and one I'd recommend for future work events.

Boudin Eggrolls - a tad spicy, but yum!

We ended up just eating - not doing any of the activities (although the vibe looked good and there were lots of people having fun!) Our group shared several appetizers- all of which were good. Very decent wine list. Great service!

This place is first come first serve and has lots of amenities. However, if you're coming for bowling there are only a few lanes so the wait can get pretty long. There's a little arcade area where you can chill and wait. There's also a bar with super delicious drinks and food that you can order. We got the appetizer sampler which was super yummy and came out piping hot. I also got a cherry limeade which was super refreshing.

This is a great place if you're looking for casual and fun! Great for a date night or family night out. There is plenty of food and drink (though some of their cocktails are a little pricey), and everything is really good. We went for a family fun night including bowling and dinner, and everyone loved what they had. I had the Palace Salad, which was delicious and a generous portion. A lot of the rest of the table got hamburgers, and really enjoyed them. The fries were a particular favorite! The bowling is really fun and easy. We went on a night when they were having a promotion and bowling was half off the hourly rate for the lane. It was a great deal!

My work hosted our Christmas party here! It was perfect! Great food! Great vibes! Fun games! Drink and staff were wonderful! I would definitely go back!

Came here with some friends for a birthday celebration. The bartenders will definitely take care of you here. A lot of food options here - spinach and artichoke dip was really good (not pictured). I also ordered the shrimp po boy (also not pictured) which was also really good with the heat level. You can bowl here and play arcade but friends and I just caught up and chatted with the bartenders. Fun environment for a big group of folks! Each month they have different drink specials that are all worth a try.

I mean it is fancy. Went on Sunday at opening with two adults and two kids. We were the only people there for the hour we bowled. $87.67 for the lane and shoes. Bumper wasn't working. Instead of changing us to a lane that worked the tech came and pulled it up as if that would fix it. Guess what? Every other frame I had to go and bend down and pull hard on this thing to come up. Someone that cared at all would have actually helped us. Also the lights were not on on the lane until we asked them to turn them on: QR code menu didn't work. Kids wanted to play foosball. 10$ for 30 minutes. This place is a rip off and geared towards wealthy adults who want to drink whiskey flights and eat poke bowls. Not sure why they charge $60 an hour on Sunday morning when they have no business I will never go back. Del Mar is half the price and the lanes are full size and the shoes are included instead of $5.50. Oh and they have at least three times the number of lanes. Pic is of the lanes as we bowled. Hard to see the pins in person too

Soon as you enter, you head straight to the counter to order. From there, you're given a number and choose your seat. Booth and table options are available. On a Thursday afternoon, the place wasn't busy but not empty, which gave my Mom and I the opportunity to catch up without a noisy dining room. The food came out fresh and hot and for the price, we were surprised by the portion since its was the $10 HH burger and fries. The fountain drinks were interesring as well. DS does not have Coke or Pepsi products. They have similiar flavors you would find with those brands. I enjoyed the Mexican Coke. It seemed to not be as fizzy aa your own well know caffenated Compadres but still carried a great flavor. Let me not skip over the dessert! Mom LOVED the pecan pie which she states had whole pecans instead of pieces. I did not wven notice that she had been getting pieces of the pie as we talked. Half of it was gone when we left. That means is pretty scrumptous! I had enough willpower to eat my chocolate chip cookie when I got home and it was worth the wait! Not only is the cookie huge, but the semi sweet chocolate and sea salt is chef's kiss. Grat combo of both worlds. Combine that with the crunchy outisude and chewy, gooey interior and this is one of the best cookies I've tasted in a long time. So glad to dish all this goodness to Yelpers and remind them of another gem in West U that will not only give you a great place to get a bite but satisfy that sweet tooth.

The soup tasted as good as it looked. Some croutons or a piece of garlic bread would have been nice, but outside of that, this starter couldn't have been better. The Nutella French Toast was similarly well done. I love French Toast and I love Nutella. So this was a match made in heaven. Along with some sliced strawberries and some blackberries, I was happy I went with a breakfast dish for dinner (they serve brunch all day). The prices are affordable for the quality of the food. I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

Houston has done it again! I'm going to be a little controversial here, but why is the food so much…read morebetter here than it is it Dallas? Had a 5:30pm resy, seated outside right away that Saturday evening--it was a full house 45 minutes later. You'd be a fool to skip the dilly bread--a complete fool! The rolls are pillowy and warm. I could eat the butter by the pint. The fingerlinging potato dish is also a must have...pretty small for $19 but tastes like heaven. Spicy! Zaddy was being a bit of a clutz that evening and knocked over my $20 mezcal cocktail, so what does he do? Orders me another one! (That's why he's "zaddy") ....kind of wish he hadn't...so wasn't worth the price tag. Skip it. The chicken dinner was definitely the winner--fresh, juicy breast, crispy skin...don't be cute, you won't finish it unless your party has at least 4 in it! The flies were ruthless! Very annoying! They were acting like the geekers that come bother you just outside your favorite fried chicken joint in south Dallas! Our waitress brought out a table fan so that made the experience a little more tolerable. The chocolate peanut butter pie tasted like a salt rock and the lemon chiffon pie had great flavor but not lemony enough for me. All in all this place is a bit pricey but truly a gem! Until next time, Nobie!

Is this the most overrated restaurant in Houston?…read more After being on my "To Try" list for an unacceptable amount of time, I finally made my way over to Nancy's Hustle. I was lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar with no reservation. I arrived about 30 minutes into open and there was already a wait list. I suggest getting there early or making a reservation if you're not a solo diner. The interior is nice and intimate, with low lighting that doesn't work well for photos but definitely for a cozy dinner. The set up and music reminded me a little bit of 93 Til due to the decor. I started with the duck dumplings and the Nancy cakes. I wasn't expecting it but they offer half orders which is great for a solo diner who wants to try multiple things. Both items were delicious. The dumplings had a nice savory sauce with some texture from the peanuts. These were great but probably my bottom of the list which is saying something. I would only say this because they reminded me a lot of the hot oil wontons from duck and bao so at that price point, you might as well get more. The Nancy cakes were pillowy and savory and made a great vessel for honey butter and roe. I even used a bit to dunk into the leftover dumpling sauce. I suggest eating these as soon as they hit your table. I was trying to savor my bites but the cakes benefit a lot from being nice and hot. It's not the most ground breaking dish in the world but it's done well and I would definitely call it a must order. I could have eating a full order of it alone. My main dishes is where my mind was blown. I went with the roast chicken and half order of the gem lettuce salad and fries. This might be the best roast chicken I've ever had in Houston. Chicken can be a hit or a miss because sometimes, there just isn't much flavor. This was absolutely not the case here. The chicken was juicy and seasoned to the core. It even heated up well as left overs without being dry. The chili sauce on the bottom was flavor intensified and as I swiped my chicken through the pools of sauce, I thought to myself "overrated where?!". The gem salad caught me by surprise. I'm not one to stay away from a salad at a restaurant because they typically do them better than you can make at home . Nancy's Hustle solidified this opinion. The salad was wonderfully briney and savory. The lettuce was crisp and covered in the herby shallot dressing that grabbed my taste buds. Topped with anchovies and pancetta for a nice salty touch. So so good. The fries were the perfect side, crisp and not too potatoey (yes this is a thing). I traded in the aoli for some ketchup because that's just my thing. I concluded this wonderful dining experience with a dessert. Buttermilk ice cream with cornflakes, black berries and honey butter cookie. This dessert was a lesson in balance. Every component was present , sweet, salty, crunchy, cool. Each bite had something new to offer and combined into a perfectly executed dessert. As a cocktail, I tried their tropical drink. I don't remember what it was called but I know I could have drank about 7 of those. This was a great dining experience. I think when things get popular, sometimes we feel the need to be contrarians with our experiences. That wasn't the case for me. Nancy's Hustle has earned its popularity and I'll definitely be back
