We came here for a date night on a Tuesday at 7 pm. We made a reservation thinking Restaurant week would pack this place to the brim, but thankfully there were still plenty of seats. The atmosphere was very dim and romantic. The window seats overlooked the city and East River which added to the glamorous night. For drinks, we ordered Kew Garden and Golden Remedy, both were out of this world. The Kew Garden's celery salt was the perfect touch to the freshness of the cucumber, and Golden Remedy was just the right amount of sweet from the honey and sour from the acidity of the lemon. Every dish came in a timely fashion. From the appetizers, the fried calamari and tuna roll stood out, both were delicious and crispy. We got the Atlantic salmon and the NY Skirt steak cooked medium rare for our mains. We thoroughly enjoyed both dishes, both were fresh and high quality cuts, and serving size was just right. We didn't need the carrot cake or raspberry trifle as desserts as they were OK compared to the other dishes. I had a work dinner here and really enjoyed it. The space is lovely and has a great outdoor section. Just know that the sun is very bright coming in the windows in the evening. There's a nice awning that covers the patio but it still gets bright! Service was great...the staff really worked well together. I just had water but the drinks looked very good. We had a fixed menu which started with bread served with whipped cheese. I could have made that my meal! The bread was huge but airy and fluffy inside and the cheese spread was amazing! I had a Caesar salad for my first course and it was huge. I could have made that a meal. For my main, I had the steak frites which was very good. Definitely want to come back for a meal on my own. Came in for brunch on a Saturday, as a note they require the full party before they can sit you down. Place was nicely decorated, family friendly and dogs welcome. My friends were pretty underwhelmed by the steak and eggs which they remarked was only half a serving of steak. However, would definitely recommend the burger, very well cooked and the fries were nicely crisp as well. We did have to wait a while for our drinks and food. The seats however were a little uncomfortable, I wasn't in the booth. Cesar was our waiter. He did a great job and consistently checked on us. The food was really good, but the desserts were amazing. The sourdough bread with ricotta was a huge surprise. The fresh ricotta was on par with some Italian restaurants I have been to. The smash burger patties were delicious and cooked perfectly. When seated near a window, we had an incredible view while we waited for our food. I had the steak and eggs, my friend had the Benedict and we shared pancakes. I did think my steak was slightly overcooked but thought it was so flavorful especially when paired with the chimichurri. They got the eggs perfectly over medium for me! The pancakes were to die for. I added a note mentioning the occasion, and they went above and beyond by bringing out a slice of cake with a candle and singing Happy Birthday . Wow! We were in town for a special event, my wife's son wedding and they had booked the American Brass for their evening before the event. Located along the waterfront area known as Gantry Park, this lovely setting sports a great view of Mid-town Manhattan and the East River. But the real story is in the food and service at American Brass. From the passed appetizers (beef meatballs, bite-sized potato cakes and incredible beef sliders) to the lively environment (on Friday/Saturday's they feature live music; tonight they have a jazz duo who played a wide range of songs beyond just traditional jazz) this is a destination restaurant, with great food. After being seated (and already starting to feel full, warm foccacia showed up with a unique whipped butter that was infused with a light sour cream. Also brought to the table were a heaping dish of lightly fried and yummy Calamari, braised brussel sprouts and a Tuna Tartar. Oh my, this is before the mains were even ordered!!! As you see from the curated menu we had a choice between Branzio, steak and a mushroom tartalle. Thinking we were being responsible (yeah, right) to somewhat of a dietary intake, we went for the Branzino. Goodness, it was wonderful! Our dinner table company, Tony and Sati split their Branzino and the steak that was also incredible and about as perfectly grilled medium rare as can be. Back to the Branzio though....this mediterranean fish was prepared in a pan-seared style to be presented with a crispy skin that was oh so tender, with a bit flaky flesh. It was adorned with a sautéed spinach, cherry tomatoes, and a kick-ass black olive salsa verde, that culminated with a delicate shallot vinaigrette. Oh, and the desserts arrived shortly thereafter; a signature carrot cake with a pumpkin ice cream, a chocolate mousse cake with vanilla ice cream and a tiramisu. We were reduced to just small bites at this point, but they were delectable! The service as mentioned, was terrific; with a large part of 30'ish, they had at least 1 server for each four of us and we never were left wanting, anything. While I know it was a special occasion, I can't imagine that they don't deliver this level of high quality food and service for regular diners. My partner and I went on a Monday night and sat at the bar for happy hour and we decided to get the Oysters, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and the Crispy Rice Tuna Roll. The oysters were fresh and the chicken sandwich was perfectly crispy. The Crispy Rice Tuna Roll however wasn't as crispy as I wanted it to be, the rice was a bit mushy and overcooked, and I wish the Tuna was a bit more flavorful. Despite living in the neighborhood for a couple years, I've only enjoyed my first time brunch on a Saturday afternoon recently. Solid option, and a place that is nice to bring friends or family who are visiting. It's by the waterfront so the location is next to none. They have an impressive bread basket and and standard selection of brunch choices. Restaurant is kept presentable and clean. Fairly average service, perhaps leaning on the slow side as it seemed waitstaff weren't particularly attentive given the place wasn't busy during my visit. Making a good impression for all customers is important to me when it comes to deciding which places become standards or revisits for me in the neighborhood. I wasn't blown away by the food not service so there is only so much I can write home about given the prices. read more

The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who made sure our every need was met and I applaud those type of service, more during the Holiday Season Speaking of holidays, I did feel that the venue could have been decorated with more holiday-themed ideas to get us in the festive spirit, perhaps some twinkling lights, garlands would have added to the ambiance. However, this was a minor thing in an otherwise great experience. The event space area had pretty open layout that would be perfect for hosting small weddings, corporate events, or other special occasions. I could easily envision a beautiful wedding reception or a lively holiday party taking place in this stunning space! The food, of course, was delicious! We got the buffalo wings, sliders, fries, half dozen oysters, and the sweet heat and pineapple express drinks. The buffalo wings and oysters were great but nothing you can't get somewhere else (except the ranch they had was so good!). The fries and the sliders were AMAZING! I am a big truffle fry fanatic and these ones hit the mark. Crispy but on the oilier side and it paired so well with the sauce. As for the sliders, I've never had sliders with that much flavor. Typically sliders seem more like an afterthought or a kids food but these were so juicy and I loved the dijonaise sauce on top. My one critique is that the drinks, although tasted amazing, didn't seem very strong. But it could be because we ate so much food. I really enjoy this place and the rest of the menu looks incredible. I recently went this Saturday for brunch with one of my close friends to catch up. It was a rainy day but we had reservations and were excited to eat. The original waitress informed my friend who got there first about the unlimited bottomless brunch option and I was looking forward to indulging in this option. Once I sat, another waiter came by to take our order and informed us that the option was no longer available for bottomless. Meanwhile, I had a screenshot and proof that it did exist a couple of days ago. The waiter staff went to the manager to deny us so we settled on the mimosa table service which was subpar. As far as the food, everything came quickly but room temperature. I also found that portions were so small which included the steak and eggs + the salmon eggs Benedict. The steak was precut for us and it tasted good but we weren't satisfied. I also found egg shells in my eggs Benedict which I also took a picture of. I informed the staff of this mishap upon me checking in for the free Yelp dessert deal and all they could offer was an additional dessert which ended up being not good at all. American Brass appears to take great care in sectioning off areas for events, which lends privacy to the different parties even when there are multiple. It's the kind of place you'd bring someone to impress them! My partner and I both got the American Brass Burger, which was a significant letdown. The patty was dry and the cooking temperature was way off: I ordered mine medium rare and it came out almost well done. The buns had a good texture and fluffiness but were otherwise flavorless, and the fries were disappointingly oily and flaccid. We also got a side of mushrooms which was heavy on the oil, although my partner seemed to enjoy them. For $40, you really expect more. It's puzzling how a high-end restaurant can nail the atmosphere but miss so badly on a staple like a burger, especially at that price point. Margarita was my server, who came over and served me water. After that another gentlemen came over to take order and said she was "too busy". He was extremely nice, professional, friendly and pleasant. The food came out and the duck fat hash browns were big and thick but then as a result the inside was completely mush and uncooked. The cheeseburger was overcooked and both the patty and the bun completely fell apart. I then had to try and eat the rest of it with fork and knife. Not once did Margarita come back and fill water, ask if everything was ok, ask if I needed another drink or if I wanted anything else. Eventually, I heard the male waiter from the beginning tell her in the beginning to check on us instead of going to new table to take order. When she came over and was explained the problem, there was no apology or offer to fix it. She just stood there awkwardly and said "okkk". Then she walked away and came back with check. Thankfully the hash brown was removed but nothing was ever said. Then once I received the check, she hovered over the table and asked 4x if I was ready! Where were you the rest of the time??? American Brass is a beautiful American restaurant in LIC with great views and a traditional menu. We enjoyed our dinner here, although I did have a bit higher expectation. To drink, the Lost in Province and Sangria Spritz were a tad "meh," but they did make a very solid espresso martini. To eat, I loved the Sourdough Focaccia and whipped ricotta which was probably my favorite food item of the evening. We also tried the Mac & Cheese (decent but needed more cheese); Fried Brussels (needed more sauce and sweetness); and Wild Mushroom Pasta (it was flavorful enough but to be honest I wasn't the biggest fan). Dessert definitely won me over: the brownie sundae was fabulous and perfectly rich, it was the highlight and definitely redeemed the meal. Service was very good, but would I come back? For mains we ordered the avocado toast, french toast and breakfast platter. We cleared those, they were frankly, bomb. My breakfast plate had potato hash, chicken sausage, a fried egg and avocado. Simple yet soo good. I also had 2 aeperol spritzes which were refreshing and strong. We ended with chocolate mousse cake, though we were stuffed! The cake was a perfect size for 3 girls, and it cane with delicious coffee chip ice cream. Food was 100/10! Ambience was nothing short of stunning. It looks like an upscale hotel! The chicken piccata was not breaded on one side and the lemon flavor was so faint if the name didn't have piccata in it i wouldn't assume that's what it was. Entrees were served family style so I got a chance to try the roasted chicken, mushroom tagliatelle and the Branzino. Every dish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Not only were all the proteins delicious but the sides that came with it. To end our meal I had a chance to try the carrot cake, tiramisu and caramel sundae. The service throughout the night was wonderful and it was pretty quiet for us to have conversations. For dinner they offered a menu served family style which I enjoyed immensely while some coworkers didn't favor. The food was all exceptional though. The salad and bread to start were wonderful. The mains were the steak frites, salmon with cauliflower and rigatoni with meatballs. The pasta was delicious, the steak perfectly cooked, the fries well seasoned and crispy, the salmon was the only thing I thought it was a tad overcooked but I also know some don't like salmon undercooked. For dessert we had the birthday cake and carrot cake and normally I'm a chocolate girl through and through but these were both very good. Wine was delicious and the whole meal was great.
