When my Sister-in-law and I walked in tonight and told the hostess (blond) we had a reservation she looked at her screen and said she didn't see anything. She was very rude, didn't offer to seat us anyways, rolled her eyes and when I told her we made the reservation only a few hours earlier she again said she didn't see anything. By this time I was ready to walk out because of the way she was acting. But I really wanted to enjoy a pizza from my childhood memories. I finally asked her if she could still seat us and she told the girl (brunette) working with her that she should just take care of us like we were bothering her. Been at this location several times in the past year year and a half. The food is generally good. However, the service is generally slow on a good day. At times, the service has been poor. The manager never checks on how things are going. The bar service is slow and the servers generally seem to be poorly trained. To be fair, in these times we are living in, I understand it is hard to find people that want to work. However, that said, it appears that if management was more engaged in what was going on, it could and should be much better. read more

1 star at best. We will be counting Palermos out.... as a aspoiled evening out for paying customers and worst of all, bad food. We were served barley luke warm and over salted stringy chicken parm and tepid pork tenderloin parm on a room temperature bed of dry looking spaghetti. We waited longer then an order should have taken in a not busy "restaurant." Our invisible waiter never checked our table or even explained the delay on our original order. A better bet would have been a 1970's t.v. dinner from granny's ice box. I'm giving Palermos a break since the covid closed downs but... one can only give so much. The P. Poor "manager" could not even attempt to fix a bad do. He extended no apology, or professionalism. He offered a new order, for which we were billed . We ordered lasagna. The lasagna was bad, it was small,too salty, overly peppered with barley a smidgen of ground beef. Skip it. Not what was expected. Very classy restaurant. Exactly the kind of place I wanted to host a family meal in celebration of my daughter's first communion. The hostess and Brie were very accommodating. Brie was especially helpful in making suggestions off the menu to my guests. May I recommend the grilled calamari and the orange roughy on your next visit? Time to update. I come here once a month now. Decided the sweet sauce on the pizza I didn't care for too much for before is actually pretty awesome! It's now one of my favorite pizzas. They give you bread and butter/or oil before you get your meal and that is really wonderful crusty sourdough. I've had the deep dish and wasn't too impressed but I don't care for deep dish anyway. I really like the Italian beef and there's another dish called eggplant rollintini that is one of my favorite things ever. The service is fantastic and they have always been accommodating. read more

We have been patrons of Palermo's for many many years. The quality of their food has went down in the past 4-5 years. We ordered take out my husband had a lasagna dinner and ordered a small cheese pizza, and for 36 dollars we expected more.Both were terrible. I did contact them through their website but heard nothing. Won't be ordering again. Sad to say another "Authentic" Italian restaurant has gone generic. Amazing pizza. The sauce they use is very unique and has slight sweet taste. If your going to dine I highly recommend the Radiatore Pasta with Vodka Sauce. Amazing dish and full of flavor. If your doing take out remember to pick up from around the corner. read more

We were in Chicago for bereavement. Our family needed to gather together for dinner just to be with each other during this difficult time. My sister-in-law is Italian and heard of this restaurant so she booked three tables: for 9, 6, and 5 because at such last minute, they were unable to seat us together. That was okay, we'd still be in the same building and could see each other. While I was in the men's shop with my brother to be fitted for slacks, one of the salesmen overhead me mention we were going to Palermo's. He apologized for "interfering" but said he heard me mention them and wanted to assure me it was "excellent." I must also mention that my sister-in-law is a hard sell on "Italian" restaurants but when she saw that had Italian stuffed artichokes and baklava, it was over. She loved this place so much, she went back the next day and ordered out pizza. We've never tasted pizza with a sauce like that. It was a wonderful atmosphere. Service was a bit busy, but constant and professionally warm. I'm just sorry I don't have pics to share. We were all too busy eating. The pizza is phenomenal. Lasagna extreme and the stuffed artichoke an art. Do it. You probably deserve the break. read more

Mental note: If I'm ever going to get married in Chicago I will not do it during the summer. It was hot and humid when I got off the plane and that was around 10pm. I did not realize how nasty it was going to be until I left the hotel at high noon to get a pizza at Palermo's. I was going to be wearing a tux and cumberband later. Yikes. As my friends and I brought our huge pizza back to the air conditioned hotel, all that heat and humidity was forgotten. Great sauce, great crust, a magnificent sausage and mushroom pie. The restaurant seemed pretty old school and from what I've been told it's an institution. Unfortunately a takeout order doesn't make a great review. We just had the most unbelievable Italian Dinner. To start with, we had Calamari , stuffed banana peppers and the most unbelievable real breaded Claims. For dinner we had perch, veal Palermo, and lamb chops. Dessert was an amazing selection of tiramisu, cheesecake and cannoli. We need a wheelbarrow to get out of here. So disappointed! I was staying up the street and ordered a small pizza. When it arrived it wasn't even in a box, then I realized that the way it was cut wasn't the way most pizzas are and it was just a messy dinner. The cheese had a bad taste and the meat did too. My Boyfriend swears the food at Palermo's is the best Italian and pizza he has ever had and talks about it constantly. I finally had a chance to try it yesterday. Go early as that it gets very crowded for dinner. The portions are huge here. We got a thin crust pizza as an appetizer. It was big enough to be our meal. It was very very good and it had a very sweet, unique sauce. I had the pasta Cappalinni Christina for my meal, it was also HUGE. Didn't eat a forth of eat before I was stuffed. I really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to eating my left overs the rest of the week. Palmermo's gives an authentic, Italian family dinner experience. It's definitely worth the trip to Oak Lawn. I need to make it back for a signature sausage deep dish. I tried the thin n crispy par-baked. It crisps up nicely on a hot pizza pan. Pepperoni was under the cheese, but didn't stand out as a great topping on it's own. Loved the sweet sauce and it is great tasting dough. A good option for Italian food. The menu is fairly large and most everything is customizable in regards to what sauce you want though the pasta options just seem like the same things with different noodles. I decided to get a the ciopino seafood dish and it was everything I could've asked for, and it came with a large portion of pasta and a chicken dumpling soup which was delicious. There are very large servings here and you definitely get your money's worth. I'm not a big fan of the pasta here because the tomato sauce is not really seasoned to my liking but if you're not picky it's edible. The only negative about this place and the reason for losing one star is that the wait times are VERY long no matter if you're waiting for your order to be taken, the food, or the check. We are pretty spoiled when it comes to pizza in or near Chicago. My family and I have ate Palermo's pizzas for years and it's always consistent and really good. Arguably one of the best pies. Their sauce is sweet and they don't skimp out on ingredients. It is somewhat pricey next to the other pizza places in the area but you get what you pay for. Coupons are also available. They have thin or regular crust. Both are really good, it's just personal preference when it comes to crust thickness. Crust is never chewy dough like some places. Delivery is always over an hour, as much as even 2 hours during games like Sunday football. If it's pick-up it's always only 30 mins. They're ALWAYS closed on Tuesdays. If you haven't tried their pie, your missing out. The minestrone is really good as well. My daughter loves it. Not a fan of their pastas tho. read more

They are a small intimate restaurant. Authentic Italian food. The wait was short to be seated. The waiter was friendly and timely. The pizza here is great also. The bread was sometimes warm and sometimes cold. I liked it best warm. They have valet if interested. The parking lot is real small. The location of it is very convenient. I recommend the baked clams. They are SUPER GOOD! The tomato garlic over hair like pasta was great and amazing. It was Friday during Lent so I couldnt have meat to eat. I was happy with what I ordered. Jumbo shrimp and broccoli was amazing also. I recommend coming here. They are closed on Tuesdays though! read more

The food here aside from pizza is not what it used to be and it's very disappointing. We placed an order for pickup; a Chicken Parmesan and a Cream of Chicken and Rice Soup.. To say that it was disgusting would be an understatement, as I almost threw up after one spoonful of the "soup". The chicken was dry and chewy and the only thing edible were the pasta noodles. The soup was awful. It's important to note we also ordered a pizza and that was the only thing that was good. I believe it's because the pizza sells and ingredients are fresher because of turnover. It has been a few years since I dined at Palermo's. Recently I took the family there for dinner. It was an underwhelming experience. The waitress started off by messing up the drink order. Then they served the main course and forgot the salads for the table, so she boxed the salad up as a carryout item. Not satisfactory. The waitress could not explain how some items were made which led us to find out that some ( or many) of the items are not made in-house, but bought precooked from an outside vendor. For the price that they charge that, too, is unacceptable. We were seated in a table that was half way in a main pathway and should not have been there. The entire evening was just a rushed unpleasant experience, and not cheap, by any means. I don't think that I will return. When I spend a few hundred dollars for dinner, I want a relaxed fun time.
