I've been looking for a really good pizza closer to home--one that doesn't require a drive all the way to Oak Lawn. I'm looking at you, Palermo's. I may have found it at Oh Boy Pizza. We ordered a thin-crust pizza with spinach, green pepper, half sausage, along with an order of onion rings. The pizza was excellent: a crisp, cracker-style crust with just the right amount of char, a sweet but not overpowering tomato sauce, good-quality toppings (would like more, though), and just enough grease to remind you that pizza is supposed to be a little indulgent. Now, don't get carried away--I'm not saying it's exactly like Palermo's. It's more like if Vito & Nick's and Palermo's had a baby. The onion rings were okay, although I'm still searching for something like the ones from the long-closed Hickory Pit. Overall, I really enjoyed the pizza and will definitely be back. read more

I heard that oh boy pizza was under a new ownership so I decided to give it a try. I tried it in the past and was not pleased, but the new owner is a family man who turned this place around. I moved further away from the city last year and haven't been able to find a good pie, which means I haven't had a really good pizza since then! I visited my parents over the holiday weekend and we grabbed a couple pizzas from Oh Boy. Not only did it hit the spot, I can confidently say it's some of the best I've had. I've gotten my hair braided next door to this place twice, and I wanted to check them out. I ordered a small sausage, extra sauce, & well done. I was the only patron at the time, and they took care of me immediately and were very pleasant. I was advised it would take 20 minutes, which it did. I took the pizza to the car and ate it hot. Everything was fresh and prepared correctly. Unfortunately, yes, there's an unfortunately: I didn't like the sauce, it was too sweet to me. I don't like sweet pizza. Tried pizza for 1st time. It was a quality made pie. Got the 16 inch sausage. I liked the crumbly sausage, good cheese and the crust was very crispy but the sauce is a little too sweet for my taste. This was my first time trying this restaurant and let me say I'm a big fan of bag pizza so they won me over already. They known for their sauce being on the sweeter side. The sweetness wasn't overwhelming. The pie was cooked perfectly. The only flaw was a lot of the middle piece were cut smaller than my liking and the crust is extra thin. Those things aside this is a solid pie and they have half off on Monday and Tuesday for their family and jumbo size pizzas. The taste also reminded me of a pizza place on 113th & Halsted called Joeys that I loved as a kid. This is good pizza! read more

I am basing this rating ONLY on the pizza, as I am not very familiar with their other food items. The last few times I ordered the pizza from here, I feel that it has actually been pretty tasty. The sauce has a sweeter kind of taste to it but I don't think they overdo it with the sugar. And the value for your money is good. Half-price pizzas on both Mondays and Tuesdays here, which is virtually unheard of. Only a couple of complaints. 1) At times the pizza can be rather greasy. Might want to look into that. And 2) I do wish they would enable online ordering. I get tired of being yelled at on the phone with the typical "I can't hear you! Can you talk louder?" and consequently having the spelling of my name being totally botched on the orders. You might find that having online ordering will actually make your job EASIER, so stop fighting it already and get into the modern age. WORST PIZZA PLACE EVER! Super necessary that I post. After waiting an hour on a Tuesday night to pick up my order with company waiting at the house I arrive to find out my order was never made. Misplaced apparently. Given 2 options: pay in full and wait another hour in the parking lot or have it delivered and can take up to 2 hours Hmmm ... meanwhile I have company at home waiting. I have been a regular at Oh Boy Pizza for years. More recently, we have been ordering their half price pizza on Monday's. Yesterday, we found a pretty large hair in our pizza with about 1/3rd left. I called and talked to the manager and very nicely told him what happened. His responses to this issue included: "Well I'm glad you finished most of the pizza and it didn't ruin your meal." "I'm not sure what you want me to do about it. "Next time we will hold the hair." Needless to say, Oh Boy just lost a 30 year regular customer. I have been ordering pizza's and appetizers for over 10 years from Oh Boy Pizza. I have never had a bad experience nor have I ever had a bad pizza. The pizzas are outstanding and I believe it's all about the sauce and his sauce is amazing! The owner Gary is always a lot of fun on the phone and always helps with whatever you need. He remembers his longtime customers and takes very good care of them, but he has been doing that from day one. We just used Oh Boy Pizza once again for our many parties. We ordered 10 pizzas and each one of them was outstanding and they were prompt about making sure we get our pizzas on time for our party.
