I like this new local Indian joint. If I could I would rate our first lunch experience here as 3.5 stars. It's clean, smells amazing and the food was yummy. The owners are very friendly too. While I enjoyed the butter chicken, there are a few reasons I couldn't give 4 stars. As a newcomer, who expected a lunch buffet, the explanation of the Combination was confusing as it was explained in a rush. Now I get it: It is a great idea to choose a combination plate especially if you are in a hurry- it's what is on display behind the glass, so it's ready to serve. Alternatively, order off the menu board... lots of choices and the grilled entrees looked delicious. It's not a full service place; order and pay at the register, bring your tray to the table, dine, and someone will clear your empty plates. We did two G1 $9.99 chicken combinations: one Butter chicken and the other Almond chicken (on bone) which got served with 2 sides w/ rice on a cafeteria type tray, and then hot naan gets brought to table. Hubby and I chose different sides so we could try more things. The verdict: The Butter Chicken Curry was delicious! We thought the Almond chicken was okay, but that butter chicken was yummy, just not enough chicken (especially the almond bone in chicken) on our trays to satisfy us. The Saag Paneer was very very good too. The other sides were good, and unfortunately the white rice was pretty dry and crunchy. The lemon rice was good though. The naan was served hot, and the texture was great... however, it wasn't seasoned at all, so we felt it needed salt at the least. It's great for those watching their salt intake. The interior is really cute, but it was super hot inside. We didn't linger after eating as we felt uncomfortable. Perhaps we sat too close to the kitchen, but we chose that table as the other tables by the windows were in the sun. To be fair, the $9.99 combo plate with sides was enough actual food for lunch. I would have preferred more chicken curry and one less side. And I dislike cafeteria trays, and there was an empty space that was calling for hummus - which wasn't included in the $9.99 G1 combo. Honestly, I would have liked a true (help yourself) buffet to be able to try a little of everything. Now that I know what to expect, we may be back. read more

Having high hopes after reading all the positive reviews we were unfortunately discouraged with their buffet. The ambience is open and cold feeling of discomfort with concrete floor and hard metal chairs, though staff was very friendly. Review based on first time dinner experience. We were seated quickly, served water and order taken in time so that's a good start. Waiting time for the food after placing the order was unacceptable. More than 30 minutes just to get an appetizer and even more time for other items to arrive. I understand there must be valid reasons for the delay but that isn't acceptable. After being served water initially, we had to flag down the server every time we needed a refill. Items: Gobhi Manchurian: flavor was alright albeit being on the sweeter side than what it should be normally. Chicken Biryani: fragrant but no flavor whatsoever. It was disappointing. Chic peas: probably the best of the items we ordered and was the saving grace. Butter chicken: was just okay and not cooked in the traditional way. Also contrary to the common belief, spicy doesn't necessarily mean hot coz of chilies. Spicy refers to a perfect concoction of various spices to create a perfect flavor and that's what was lacking in most of the dishes. If food is spiced right, it doesn't need to be altered to cater to different palates and could retain the authentic flavors. read more

Super slow. Then got the vindaloo was runny not thick, and obviously not made in a clay pot... but a good spice. Not a fan. The chicken may have been undercooked. The naan came 10 mins after the food... why have naan at that point?! We ordered one, they brought us 2. We didn't even get a receipt to know if they over charged. This is far from traditional. I was duped by all the high ratings and will never believe Spring TX reviews again. I brought a co-worker that just landed from India the night before and he thought it was awful! He has had Indian at other places in the woodlands and liked it. Overall, it was an embarrassing experience. Let's not even get into how poorly the tables were cleaned off. The first thing I ordered was the ginger chai and if you're not used to the real deal you'll be looking for sweet syrup. That is not how it goes. So I knew I was in the right spot! I just got back in town and I was more than exhausted, so I was not cooking dinner for my family. I'm vegan but the rest of my family is not so finding something that everyone likes can be tricky. But we ate till we were all full and we will back for more, we couldn't even get to dessert! So we most certainly will be back. Come by and find your favorite dish waiting for you here. The owner pushes for a review, so here it is. We came here 4 years ago and couldn't remember why we didn't come back. Went back yesterday and the reason why we stopped couldn't be more vivid. All 4 of us became sick after eating at the restaurant. Severe diarrhea!!!! Not sure what they put in the chicken tikka massala but all 4 of us had it. We've spoken to colleagues who ate the chicken tikka and also became sick, so it's not just us. My advice to the owner is to look into this matter versus dispute the honest review. I first came here shortly after Palette opened. It was recommended to me by a group of Indian guys, one of them told me his mother thinks it's the taste of home. I'm glad they told me, because I have enjoyed every visit. And people I have dined with have always seemed equally impressed. The flavors are complex, the scents, the spices. I visit other Indian restaurants while traveling, and I've found some good ones, but Palette remains by far my favorite. I've had worse and I've had better. They are very nice and the service was great although it was just us in the whole place so... Garlic naan's were dry and the tandoori chicken was a little burnt with very few peppers and onions. The rice was not traditional Indian rice... it was decent flavors but overall just mid. As of March 2019, palette now offers lunch buffets during weekdays for $12.99. Weekday lunch buffets are on Tues to Fri (but not Monday!) from 11:00am - 2:30pm. Buffets are paid up-front, and includes drink. They have weekend lunch buffets (Sat-Sun) as well but prices go up to $14.99. My group included a couple of people from India, and they thought that the food quality and taste were pretty decent. Selections were on the limited side, but this is typical for Indian-style buffets. There are a handful Mediterranean items including hummus, but the rest are vegetarian and meat Indian food. There were 3 kinds of chicken curry. Available drinks include regular soda as well as regular and ginger chai. Because of the buffet-style meals, they have no problems hosting large groups during lunchtime. My only compliant was that some of the food items should have been kept warm, but were slightly cold. Overall, we would definitely come back again, if we can afford to get knocked out for the rest of the afternoon. read more

Everything was fantastic! From the starters to the actually meal. The veggie samosa was flavorful and about as big as a softball, the garlic naan and hummus was simple but didn't miss. The almond chicken(C9) was something new to try. Sweet/Savory/Spicy, perfectly balanced. The Malai Kofta(VT3) was also a good balance of everything. I absolutely loved this place. I've been eating Indian food since I was little, at my friend's houses with their parents' cooking. Since moving to Houston I've been on the hunt for authentic food, with a home cooked feel. Finally found it!! The place is clean, employees are educated about the food and able to make recommendations. I opted for the lunch special of butter chicken, and saag paneer. The naan was soft and yummy and everything was delicious. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Calvin, and mentioned I had heard this was THE place for Indian food. I told him I loved dosas and he let me sample his. It was amazing like the rest of the food. Overall the whole staff is welcoming and I got a sense that Calvin was very proud of his restaurant and it shows in the food and service. This is our go-to Indian restaurant when we are too bored to cook at home. We love their food and the various flavors that come with it. We have tried almost all of their chicken and shrimp dishes; they are all very good. Our personal favorites will be Hariyali chicken, chicken malai kabob and the rajugari koli pulao. The staff here are very courteous and polite. We have eaten their buffet meals as well (unfortunately, not any more thanks to COVID-19). They offer a nice variety with that, especially the naan pizza. We will probably go back to the buffet once they start it back up. I take away one star from the review because we have seen the taste fluctuate a lot; sometimes there's too much salt in the curry and sometimes it is just delicious! If there's a way there can be consistency, it will be great. Regardless, we are going back here very soon :) read more

Debated between ordering from the menu and buffet. We love authentic Indian food, and the buffet had all our usual favorites like Goat Roghan Gosht, Chettinad Chicken, Chicken Biryani and Tikka Masala, and more. Started with a plate with a little bit of everything just to sample them and didn't even have time to take a picture. They were all excellent. Went back for another combo plate with a little extra goat and chettinad chicken and added some of the chutneys, also delicious. Finished off the meal with a couple cups of their masala chai tea which was also included and was nice and creamy and not too thin like some other places. The food here is amazing. A nearby table is commenting to the waiter about how delicious everything is, and they ordered from the menu. The spice level was "medium" and we found it nice and spicy. We even used some of the yogurt chutneys to cool off a bit. Overall exactly what we were hoping to find. Anytime we are in this area, we will be back. read more

This is a nice local establishment. It has primarily a Buffay, but you can also order off the menu. The food is as authentic as I've seen in this area.
