I found it on Yelp, and it was rated high enough I had to find out what the noise was about - and, oh boy, i quickly figured out the fuss! Why 5 stars? Because they did a really nice thing. --- --- --- I played basketball, then went to Splashtown for 2 hours. It was 2:06pm and I had not consumed a single calorie. But I'd burned 1,000. To define my state as starving would be an understatement. My stomach was consuming itself. We took a little halftime break from Splashtown and opted to eat here instead of buying sub-standard concession stand food. We drove here, walked in, and the woman said that because they close at 2:30, they only to take-out after 2pm. We offered to just eat at the outside table, but while we were looking at the menu, the woman said that she would make an exception for us and let us eat inside. We promised to eat quick, and made good on that, as we were out the door by 2:28. But it was very nice of the woman to let us eat inside, because it was another day of August death weather outside. We ordered chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. The butter chicken was great, but the tikka masala's chicken was pretty tough. We also ordered garlic naan and roti. The garlic naan was a huge hit, while the roti was fairly plain. So the food had a couple of 5-star items and a couple of 3-star items, but I'm rounding up to 5-stars overall because the service was above and beyond. read more

The restaurant was far too warm for the visit to be enjoyable. My ice water never kept "ice" and sweat beads were plentiful and not from the foods heat. On entrance your told to grab your own menus and seat yourself. I find the grab your own menus an odd gesture as once we ordered it took a while for them to be taken, maybe I was supposed to return them too. This was my second/third visit to this establishment and first 2 visits back in 2019/2020 were phenomenal; but sadly this visit will have me seeking other options. The price points are no longer on par with what they deliver. I have always ordered the goan shrimp curry and it had always come presented as pictured in menu. This round it was less than a cup of jasmine rice plated alongside a thick soup cup of the curry. Priced at 18.99 it does not come with naan that's another 2.99 for 4 pieces. Kids meal options are lacking so I'd not recommend them if your kids aren't up for trying new foods. Though they do have the never fails chicken nuggets and fries as only go to option. Other two are buttered chicken with rice and buttered noodles. My son had the buttered chicken and he stated it tasted solely like tomato soup, which I can vouch it was very tomato heavy. My daughter unfortunately wouldn't eat the chicken nuggets as they were over cooked and dark meat. Batted zero with my kids. Maybe this was just a fluke visit, but sadly I don't foresee myself coming back. read more

This was just a random pick when trying to find a place with a large group, most of which who were inexperienced with Indian food. We called ahead as we had 14, and they had no problem accommodating our group even with short notice. This did not disappoint. The staff (and I believe the owner) were incredible, explaining the cuisine and flavors. Food came out quickly, and was excellent. The food is good. We stop in whenever we go to visit our daughter in the Austin area. We pass by about once a month or so. This last time, we had the same server and he seems disinterested in anything but quickly taking our order and quickly pushing the machine in my face to give a tip. Don't waste his time asking questions about the menu or the food. He told us wrong information about the rice so he could move on. We ended up with loads of rice. I guess the new policy is to give a lot of rice so people think they're getting a lot of food. I can't eat much starchy food...due to an illness. When we eat here, we typically spend about $200.00 because we order food to take home. When we opened the to go containers, one was about half full and again they gave too much white rice with the chicken tikka masala...not enough of the food we come here to buy. What is the point of having a bubbled container top when they barely fill the container halfway? See picture. We have been coming here for well over 7 years but if they're not going to give us friendly service and hide the half-full to go (in a bag), then we will need to check the contents before we leave (we now lack trust) or we might have to hunt for another place to enjoy dinner. I hope the only server, on the evening of Monday February 3th, gets the message that he might want to pretend to care about his customers and try to communicate honestly...even if he is busy. An updated review on Palette has been long overdue. I've been to Palette on occasion since my last review for pickup, and everything has been outstanding. Butter Chicken ($13.99) Still amazing and our favorite dish here. Chicken is super soft, sauce is very flavorful, and the quantity plentiful. 5/5 Paneer Tikka Masala ($12.99) I think before when we got the chicken tikka masala, it was from a combo meal back when they had the front burners on. When we ventured to try the tikka masala sauce again, it was awesome. Similar to butter chicken but with more vegetables and subtle differences in flavor. Paneer was good as well. This is going on our staple list. 5/5 Andhra Chicken Curry/Hyderabadi Dum Ka Chicken ($9.99) Unfortunately, my taste buds are not as well trained to remember which one was which. Luckily, they were both good. One was a little spicier, and that one was the slightly better of the two. Chicken here comes on a bone so beware the bone fragments, but that is a small price to pay for these dishes. Like the butter chicken, the meat is super soft. The sauces are a stronger flavor and offer additional flavors to try. The spicier one is 5/5, the lesser spicy one is 4.5/5. Chicken Popsicles ($11.99) This dish comes with three drumsticks with a tangy sauce similar to the korma sauce. It was interesting, and no regrets in getting this. However, I just like the other stuff better. (4/5) Yellow Tadka Daal ($12.99) A lentil dish with tons of spices and flavors. Gives a good balance to the creamier, heavier dishes we get. (5/5) Garlic Naan ($3.29) Naan comes with 4 quarters per order and plenty of garlic. The bottom is charred and the rest of the bread is fluffy. Great flavor, love getting this to eat with the rest of the food. The only unfortunate thing is the garlic naan's temperature is hit or miss. Not sure if it is because the naan was made in advance or if it just cools off faster than the rest of the food, but the naan is half the time, hot, and the other half, room temperature and not as fluffy. Nothing a few seconds in the microwave won't fix though so no biggie there. (3.5/5) Overall, excellent meals. People of course have different taste buds than mine and the reviews are just my own personal opinion. However, I would bring any friends and family who visit me in the future outside of COVID here with me. Prices are very fair, the flavors are good, and the menu is diverse. This restaurant has a strange set up where when you enter, pick up a menu at a little table inside the door, find a seat and they bring you water and cutlery. THEN you walk up to the front counter and order...but then you don't pay until they check on you at the end of the meal, or if you go back up to the counter. I'm guessing it's due to the limited staff, but we're never waiting after sitting down and they're attentive to drink refills, etc. Strange as it is, the food and service is fabulous. My husband orders Butter Chicken every time we visit. Creamy sauce, not too heavy on the spices. The chicken is tender and plentiful. White rice is cooked perfectly. The lunch portion of the Butter Chicken includes naan and a side as well. We get vegetable korma each time as a side and it is sinfully delicious. I make way too loud yummy noises when I eat it. I order the lunch portion of Tamarind Chicken with the side of vegetable korma (mmmmmmmmmm) and then we usually purchase another side of the korma to eat at home. The Tamarind Chicken was wonderful too, it's served with lemon rice, if I remember correctly Next time I'm just going to order the Vegetable Korma plate, with a side of Vegetable Korma.
