My friends and I have become somewhat regulars in the Florida comic con scene, so we were intrigued to hear that OtakuFest would be leaving Miami (due to logistical demands of the FIFA World Cup according to their website), to the Palm Beach Convention Center in West Palm Beach. Let's just say, the magic and whimsy that we've come to love about OtakuFest seemed faded this year and I sincerely hope that the organizers return to Miami next year. Their website claims they secured a "50,000 square foot space" with "improved parking" but this seemed to be misleading at best. The vendor and artist alleys were so small that we were able to tour the entire floor in less than 20 minutes... this includes the time it took looking at some of the merch. There was an upstairs where some more vendors were and rooms for panels but it seemed they weren't being used and it also seemed that many vendors that the convention used to have didn't join this year. Now, this is coming across, of course, as more of a review of the convention, and not the convention center. However, the convention center booked another convention just a few feet away and people were confused on where to go. I do feel that a lot of the disappointments about this year's OtakuFest came as a result of the new venue. We spent about 1.5 hours there in total and left feeling a bit disappointed. We didn't even see that many cosplayers which is a hallmark of a good con. I sincerely hope that OtakuFest returns to Miami next year. read more

This was The Palm Beach Tattoo and Oddity Expo. It was an excellent expo. I enjoyed my time here. My favorite part were the oddities and carnivorous plants. They also had rows and rows of tattoo artists working their magic for anyone wanting to get one done. The carnivorous plants. They had a good selection of sizes and prices. I saw some plants I had only seen in books before. I ended up getting some. The plant vendors all very helpful. I was given websites and instructions with each plant. I felt confident. I would not kill these plants this time. The expo had the dark creative art. It was beautifully disturbing. Some of the taxidermy turned into art blew my mind. Some one made a lamp out of a ribs and spine and it actually looked cool looking. Meeting and talking to the artist and vendors here was a fun adventure for me. Everyone was helpful. They didn't seem to mind explaining the art process. This was a good show. read more

The os Beach convention center is a gorgeous venue with a high rise parking garage. You get a ticket as soon as you ride in from a machine, find a spot and take your tix with you to pay at the kiosk machine when you return on the ground level. It's very easy. It's $2/ hour or $30 for entire day. The actual center is bright and clean with many rooms and grand ballroom. They hosted the All Star Cheerleading competition which we attended for our granddaughter. There were hundreds of little girls and their support team in attendance. The ballroom did not have stadium seating which made it difficult to see all the performances however. The facility was handicapped accessible. My husband maneuvered a scooter very easily there because all the floors are carpeted. It might be difficult to push a wheelchair. This a venue convenient off of I 95. I had no problem finding it and the parking garage when following the directions on the website. read more

I came here for the Pickleball expo. Parking was $2 /hour so make sure you know in advance. You can pay when you leave with your credit card. The convention center is easy to navigate . Though I would suggest more signage around so you don't need to stop constantly to ask where to go. The pickleball event had many booths though I would've liked even more! Perhaps it will grow in the years to come!It is across the street from City Place so you can always walk across the street and stroll around there if you'd like! Wear sneakers as the floors are very hard! read more

I got free general admission to this show online through event brite. I'd read about it before hand and seen their promos on Facebook, and it seemed intriguing. The show was located on the second floor. For those who have trouble walking, it's not at all convenient. The escalator was closed. There's a long walk from the parking garage to the elevators and then from the elevators to the show room. Once inside there's a variety of booths with different crafts and artwork -- most all for sale. This was the last day of the show and most booths were doing a brisk business. Many things were way out of my price range, but I still liked browsing. We saw lots of jewelry and clothing; paintings, mosaics, ceramics; dried flowers; baskets; woodwork; sculpture; and mixed media pieces. The quality of the displays varied. Many were absolutely gorgeous and some were just not to my taste. But in any event, you can see the dedication and work that went into each item. The show was good, especially because it was free, but I wish there's been more participants. read more

I was really impressed with this convention center when I was here for a conference during the month of October. The entire staff was very friendly and the security they had made me feel safe and protected in a giant building. The access of restrooms and the layout of the ballrooms and small break out rooms made a lot of sense and there were workers present if anyone didn't know where they were going. I wish there were more places to sit and more tables and plugs . I think it it needed anything additional it would be that as we are always looking for places to sit and charge in our laptops during the session read more

The Palm Beach County Convention Center is a 350,000 foot multi-purpose venue managed by Spectra Venue Management. The convention center opened in January 2004 and hosts conventions, trade shows, meetings and social events throughout the year. It is connected by a covered walkway to the Hilton West Palm Beach hotel. Across the street from the convention center is CityPlace, a shopping district with bars, restaurants, and shopping. I popped into the convention center recently to visit a craft show. Parking is free if you are under a half hour so I set my timer and made it back in time. Inside the convention center is 21,000 square feet of space that can be divided into 19 rooms. There is also a 100,000 square foot exhibition hall and a 22,0000 square foot ballroom. I was impressed with ease of parking and the cleanliness of the exhibit hall hall. I had fun doing a little Christmas shopping. Overall I had a great experience and will be checking out the website for the convention center for future events. read more

We went here for the Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival and enjoyed our experience. We found the direction and flow of where we needed to go poignant and fluid, fluid and poignant. Parking was easy if you needed to park your car (we ubered because we knew we would be drunk). The staff were friendly and ensured we were walking in the right direction. Restrooms were easy to access and didn't one near the convention hall where the festival was held. The convention hall was in a part of the center with plenty of windowed panels to bring in the natural light which was great, especially, when there were vendors in that part before you walked inside. There was plenty of space to walk around and not feel like people were on top of each other. read more

This convention center is big, it's clean, and it's in an accessible location that's close enough to walk to bars and restaurants when your day is over. And while a lot of the organization that happens inside falls on the team who puts on the event, one of my biggest problem with this venue is the lack of restrooms. I attended a conference last week with probably 1500-2000 people and there were only two men's and two women's restrooms available for use on the first floor. And unfortunately, the bathrooms aren't huge either, like you might see at a sports arena or airport, they only have about five toilets in them. So because there are so few restrooms available to serve everyone, lines wound out the doors and into the hallways, which clogged up the hallways. read more

I came to the Palm Beach Convention Center this afternoon for Art Palm Beach. The space itself is located next to a Hilton Hotel. The decor of the convention center itself is fairly functional and almost post-modern. Ceilings were pretty high, and gave a flexIble space for various exhibits. As it were, there were like two other groups meeting in other exhibit halls. As far as the art show itself, the art seemed a little more impressionist than the edgier pieces I'm used to from Art Basel and Artt Wynwood. They had a few cool 3D pieces, and a large sculpture of the full moon as well as a few erotic (and hypnotic - spirals -) pieces. They had a bar with some tapas, but I didn't partake this year. read more

My wife was illegally detained by Palm Beach County Conventions Center security when attempting to exit. While attending the Art and Jewelry show in mid February, the security guards there have no respect for people's rights and attempted to violate them. I understand the need to search bags when entering the venue as part of homeland security, but they also demanded to search bags, including my wife's purse, upon leaving. No probable cause. A complete invasion of privacy. When my wife refused to have her purse searched, the guard then blocked her walking towards the exit six times by stretching out his arms in front of her and telling her not to touch him, ILLEGALLY detaining her. Nothing was reported stolen by anyone. This was, pure and simple, an invasion of privacy and an attempt at an illegal search. They referred to a sign they had posted, as if a sign makes any difference. You could put a sign up that says murder is allowed inside -- that doesn't make it true. Imagine every time that you walked out of a store, you were forced to show your private belongings just because they put a sign up. If jewelers have a theft problem, they could hire their own security. This is an outrageous violation of basic American rights. Gov. DeSantis should do an investigation regarding their practice and operations. To all visitors: Your rights can never be taken away with a sign. Never. read more

Stopped here to meet a pal. He was booking a room at the Hilton right next to it. That Hilton looks amazing on the inside by the way. Super high ceilings and the pool area is the centerpiece as soon as you walk in. I was only at the convention center to park so I haven't been inside yet. My friend is going to a tattoo event soon. I visited the convention center for the first time to attend the Palm Beach Food and WIne Festival, and I was so impressed. I guess I was expecting something more corporate and generic, but instead I was pleasantly surprised. The decor, layout and architecture combine to create a sleek, modern, yet warm and inviting space that sets a really nice tone. I felt comfortable yet respectful, like I should be dressed up (I was!) but also could be myself. Geesh, can the designer please redecorate my house?! The festival space had plenty of room for us to congregate outside and check in, with large walkways and entrances. The bathrooms were very nice. The inner ballroom where the main events were happening did seem a tad stuffy air-wise at times, but the area outside of this room was full of light from outside and didn't feel stuffy at all. Parking was easy to use in the parking lot behind the convention center. I would not have known this was here if I hadn't scoped it out ahead of time. read more

Yesterday was the second time I attended a graduation at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Except for getting into the parking lot, my experience here was overall pretty good. Traffic was backed up coming off of Okeechobee Boulevard and Australian Avenue. It took us 20 minutes to move 1/2 mile to get into the Center's parking lot. It seems like crowds at a graduation should be anticipated and dealt with appropriately but it was an unnecessarily slow-go. After parking, we made our way easily to the Center. Ushers and security were everywhere and helpful and cheerful. The ceremony itself was well done, venue was clean, and the sound was good. Leaving was not as slow as arriving but we opted to take the stairs as there doesn't appear to be enough elevators to handle a post-event crowd. read more

Tony Robbins event was great here! Security was friendly and the venue is spacious and easy to get around.

It's absolutely beautiful here!!! A cute park with water fountain on one side of the center. Tennis court right behind. Food they served inside is super healthy. Freshly squeezed green juices. Raw, hand made kale chips with cashew nuts crust. Gluten free muffins and almond milk All possible salads with freshly cut garden vegetables. Such an amazing soups, like carrot w/ginger or tomato w/cilantro or squash w/pecans. What a choices and they all make ur brain scream for more Vegetarian wraps like Quiana with green vegetables or couscous instead. Berry-mango smoothie or as simple as a fruit salad still so well cut, not a drop of juice on the bottom of container. And of course yogurt w/fresh fruits and handmade granola. Bathrooms....that's the last but pretty important thing I must to share with you. The cleanest and spaciest public bathroom you have ever visited. Acompaning a bride to be to her first bridal show is exciting, specially when the bride to be is your sister. I'm glad someone had told her already not to expect a .ot from these events... At first, all is great, everyone congratulating the brides to be and family, but once you got to the event area, it got hot, crowded and a bit disorganized. A lot of vendors were located at the halls, on both sides, so you have people pulling you and pushing you from everywhere, and it was really hard to even see what they were offering unless you waited a while, in what you thought was a line, until you saw others just pushing their way in. Thanfully they had the other half of the vendors in one of the rooms, and here we were able to walk, look, and talk to them more comfortably. Luckilly my sister was able to find some vendors and ideas she liked, and say that she's attended her first bridal show. read more

I came here for the Brickfest this past weekend and it's very nice. I have been there a couple years ago for the Festival of Chocolate and it looked like nothing has changed. There is a charge for self parking, which doesn't surprise me. When is ever free to park in downtown West Palm? Anyway, it's spacious for a lot of people. The organization part is not something I'm a fan of. The event we went to was located on the other side of the building and we had no idea where to go when we walked in. At least put up a sign or something that we're in the right place. The staff was friendly on the other hand and the place is spotless. read more

A behemoth of a venue, always clean and helpful ushers. I've attended several expos, shows, workshops and the place stay maintained like new. The food they serve at luncheons is mediocre and servers can be better trained. My last luncheon the servers threw the food on the table sans ill-intent, merely sloppy. Been here several times over the years for conferences. The overall size is small as far as convention centers go, so it's easy to navigate. Parking is relatively easy and only $5, and I think they are in the process of building a parking garage which will help. I don't expect much from conference food, so lunch was just OK. Very large and easy to navigate through this venue. There is a parking garage with plenty of spaces. The convention center is attached the the Hilton which makes it very easy to get to and from your hotel room.
