Our first time here we saw the ads in the Grapevine and decided to try it tonight for our first time there I was very disappointed. Calamari was overcooked and looked like it was burned. The beef teriyaki was very tough to chew the chefs choice sashimi didn't taste fresh at all the pork Katsu look nothing like my wife's chicken Katsu dinner and there was a funny, bitter aftertaste when I ate the food. I've had pork Katsu at other restaurants and it tasted way better than the katsu I had tonight. Also, there was no rice served. I actually had to ask for rice since rice was not included in the meal. I was very excited initially to go to this restaurant, but after tonight, I was very disappointed. I am willing to give it another go, but I will order different food. Went out to eat with my father for labor day, their korean bbq was amazing, so much food! The waiter was also such a sweet kind lady, and Rex as well. Very gorgeous views onto the lake and course. Overall would recommend to anyone who's interested in trying a new place here in brentwood. read more

They cooked the bbq for us, but I'm not sure if that's usual cause the table next to us were cooking their own, but I didn't mind at all. Less work for me! I have to give this restaurant credit -- the food was genuinely enjoyable. That said, my experience during one visit was disappointing due to poor service and lack of organization. I discovered the restaurant through a Facebook post and came in excited to try it. The staff were friendly but clearly undertrained. No one explained the ordering system, so my party of two ordered 12 items at once to be efficient. After a few dishes arrived -- some not even ours -- we were ignored. Only later were we told there was a "3-items-at-a-time" rule and that we had to walk to the kitchen to place each order, yet other tables weren't following this rule. It felt inconsistent and unfair. The food took nearly two hours to arrive, and no dirty dishes were cleared from any tables during our visit. I still left a tip because I could see the servers were trying, but the lack of structure really impacted the experience. I hope the restaurant invests in better training and communication -- the food has potential, but the service needs serious improvement. read more

7 of us came to dine in for lunch today, 4 adults and 3 kids. The food was great, our server was amazing. It is made-to order style, which is great bc you get food that is hot and fresh, but wait time for food is insane. Pro is that there's ready-made sushi to choose from, but we didn't find til later (we had to ask lol). You order from a piece of paper that gets handed to the cook, but you're capped at ordering 2 orders at a time/per person. The turnaround time for food is so slow, you end up filling up on ready-made sushi, that you're stuffed by the time you get the food you ordered. The kiddos got their chicken teriyaki served last, which was part of the appetizer menu. Last complaint is that they advertise fountain drinks as free refill, but actually charge you for anything fills over 2 - very deceiving. Hoping they execute a better system for fulfilling orders cause this place has potential, but they definitely need to iron out a bunch of kinks. Overall, 3.5 starts. read more

The most amazing Mother's Day Brunch. Under new ownership Nine's has become Palm Tree. The new owner Rex was excited and joy filled which he shared with all of us. The food was out of this world including Chicken masala, delicious garlic broccoli and carrots, prime rib, mashed potatoes, salad and also featured delicious Sushi and Mimosas on the house. $49. Went in for lunch. Bar area had some golfers hanging out (maybe bar foods). The dinning area was not busy. They had the AYCE sushi menu. It seemed confusing because the hostess came up and I mentioned the AYCE sushi and she said someone would be right with us. It took a little bit to be seated. It took a little while for the waiter to come by (it seemed like there were only two other tables there for sushi). He asked if we were ready to order, I started to tell him our order and then he asked me to write it down (hmm..) he did take our appetizer order and drinks. We ordered sodas and received two cans (the menu did say free refills but not the case 3.50 for a can of soda!?!) food came out at a reasonable time and was good. Waiter came back and asked if wanted to order more, then pointed to the menu where it said "a charge for left over food" geez!!! We weren't offered water. I'm assuming it's self serve!?! Sad to say, but we tried to give new restaurants some business to fall short on every level and this restaurant will not last long in Brentwoood. Our first experience with 2 other couples was awesome because of Steve our waiter and with his professionalism's is why we went there a second time but definitely will be our last time "Steve was not working" Please let your customers know from the beginning that this is a cafeteria setting, order yourself to the cook, pick up your own food when it's ready, self service your own water, and grab your own rice bowls but look for a tip, when we ask for the check 3 times!!! Charged me $12 because we didn't eat 6 cuts of sushi, not 6 rolls, 6 cuts!!!! know I understand it says they will charge you but got confused when we had to order our own food and it was taken awhile so we over ordered 1 roll to many. Definitely will not go there again and I will tell everyone know not to go there. I ordered sushi from the all you can eat portion of the restaurant. The sushi portions were slightly small. The Saki (salmon) was fresh and the portion was a good size. Fist let me say that this place was recommended to us through a doctor. So we decided to give it a go. I was so very disappointed with the quality of food. I was surprised I didn't suffer from food poisoning. The first dish from the bento box was the beef teriyaki and Noy only was the beef flavorless, it didn't taste fresh. The katsu that I had tasted nothing like my wife's katsu that she ordered from her bento box, and lastly the sushi looked at tasted slimy. Definitely not fresh. I didn't want to finish or even eat the rest of my food. Ah wait, I didn't finish my food. My wife suggested I not make a fuss, but I don't think I'll be coming back. I know I said I would give it another chance, but no. Every customer should be given the restaurant's best food regardless of who the people are ordering, whether they're a CEO of Amazon or a person that got their first paycheck and wants to it at the palm tree restaurant. If I could give zero stars I would. What an awful experience. There were 5 of us for lunch. One got their meal 20 minutes before the rest of us. We had to ask for utensils, water, even our checks and then again to have them picked up. My food was lukewarm at best. I feel bad for the waitresses as this place definitely needs more staff. We went here on Labor Day when they opened for the day. Near empty. Had the sushi buffet. Standard 90 minute max time. Only 1 waitress/server. I don't know if the wait time for the freshly made sushi was factored into the 90 minutes. The sushi rolls were above par. The nigiri was also spot on. The sashimi not so much. The tuna was not good. Tasted old. Like defrosted from the deep freeze. Hard and smelled of fishy. For those in the know, if it smells like fish then it isn't fresh. We ordered their desert offerings and waiting for 15 minutes then asked the waitress about that order since she put in that order and still nothing. Reordered and waited so we just asked for the check. The check came to us faster than anything the restaurant had to offer. We would not recommend at all. Also there seemed to be some favoritism since a large party came about 45 minutes after us and everyone, including what seems to be the owner(s), jumped to every request. I could be wrong.
