I know Zephyr has been around for a while. I was recommended to try here for our anniversary. Parking was semi-easy to get to. It's downtown Brentwood, so it's hit or miss. Downtown Brentwood is gorgeous and we arrived with enough time to walk around and check our storefronts. The location is across from crown and crown bar. We entered and were sat right away. The server was nice but certainly tried to upsell everything. I don't mind that so much. I think where it fell flat was we ordered the filet mignon. Mine was the overcooked by almost two degrees (ordered medium rare and there was zero pink in site). My husband and I ended up switching plates. I had already ordered a second cocktail which did not come until dessert. The server apologize this was overlooked. As someone who has been in the industry, I did not complain. I took my drink and it was nice enough. I found most of the meals lacked seasoning. The herb potato's were okay. The best part was the blueberry cheesecake. That was divine. I don't think we will be back anytime soon with so many great spots in town but if you're looking for a great date night spot, this place is one to add to rotation. read more

We've been here several times, and even hosted a baby shower here. It's always consistently decent in terms of food and service. The decor reminds me of an upscale sports bar. (Although the back room for events and busy nights is just upscale/nice/white table cloths, etc) This most recent visit did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed the steak frites and my daughter and I were partial to the beef stroganoff from their "winter menu". My mother-in-law got the pear salad and was surprised it only had 4 slices of pear and came with dressing on, when she'd requested it on the side. Ultimately she liked it though. Zephyr's bar and Grill is a great restaurant for a Saturday night with friends the ambience is nice kinda like a log cabin/bar and Grill, which it is, but the service is a whole Nother deal these people act like it's their life's work to make everybody that comes in these doors feel better about themselves than they did when they walked in. Update: Zephyr Grill & Bar is an excellent restaurant to dine at. The service is good and they have a nice selection of fine Wines. There is a nice selection of foods on their menu. I ordered fried calamari for appetizer. The calamari was fried perfectly. It has a light crisp and was tender. It was delicious with either the buttermilk or cocktail sauce. The service was good. Our server was friendly and helpful. Chicken Marsala - 4/5 (not pictured) The chicken Marsala was good. The mushroom Marsala sauce was good, but could be much more better if the Marsala wine flavor was more robust. The flavor was a little light for my taste, and compared to the other Italian restaurants that I have ordered this same dish from. The a seasonal veggies were cooked perfectly. Zepher is a nice fine dining restaurant in Brentwood. I recommend giving Zepher's a try. Make reservations first. read more

Great experience overall at Zephyr Grill & Bar. The environment is welcoming, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. The restaurant has three separate seating areas, which gives the space a unique and somewhat unexpected feel. Atmosphere: 4/5. The trio of butters was a great touch, especially the basil butter. The portions could be a bit larger for bigger parties, though in a way it also helped us not fill up too early. The burger and salad were both excellent. The chicken strips were cooked well but could have used a bit more salt. The chocolate dessert was fantastic. We also ordered coffee, but unfortunately the espresso machine was not working. This is our second time here. One was during birthday celebration party of 10. This time it is smaller for Christmas eve dinner. This place always in my expectations, great food, great service, great ambiance!! Five of us ordered Rib Eye steaks! It is so tender and so good! We ordered desserts and we were happy! Celebrated and treated my dad here at Zephyr Grill & Bar on Father's Day. This place is huge, occupying most of McCauley Plaza. Dining areas look chic and upscale. I had their New York strip steak, Dad had a Ribeye, kids had a burger and Ribs, and my wife and mom had fish. We also had Calamari, Clam Chowder, and Cesar Salad for appetizers. Appetizers: 3/5. It was mostly okay. Clam Chowder was mediocre, the salad was alright (although whole lettuce was a nice touch), But the calamari was very good. Main Course: 4/5. Good, trumps most of the chain steakhouses here in Brentwood. They source their meats form Harris Ranch which explains why. Our New York had that rich beefy flavor which was wonderful. I wish it was a little thicker though, definitely less than and inch. Regardless, it was cooked on point. Went here and got the vegan pasta dish, the Mediterranean Pesto Pasta. It was made with coconut milk and pesto. I found the coconut milk taste to be very overwhelming and the pesto to be nearly nonexistent. It was also slightly orange in color, which I thought was confusing. Other members of the group seemed to enjoy their dishes, but I was unfortunately disappointed. I'm sure they have other great things on the menu, and the decor was very festively themed. read more

Their dirty martini was delicious, and the service was attentive throughout our meal. Our food did take a little while to come out, but the staff apologized and explained there was a very large party that had the kitchen backed up. Lots of laughing, conversations happening and plenty of drinking going on. We stopped by for the food and the amazing view of San Joaquin River. I always request to be seated near a window. I enjoy watching the cargo ships, barges and freighters floating by transporting all the colorful shipping containers. Zephyr (da bar) is inside of Smiths Landing although they market Smith's Landjng as a seafood grill. The menu is limited on good seafood options. My favorite dish is their fish and chips always fresh and crispy with a side of seasoned fries. While you wait for your food to be brought out they serve this complimentary super fresh bread slices with 3 different flavors butter. The bread is a joy by itself. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. It started nice with complimentary warm bread*salted and 3 options of butter. We placed our order for appetizers. 1st problem - we ordered the grilled pear salad with shrimp. Instead we got the squash salad? Both were mediocre lacking dressing or nuts to balance or highlight out flavors 2nd problem - The waiter came back with the pear salad but pear was not grilled. Nor were there any pecans. Sad because people had recommended this salad. 3rd problem - ordered the Burrata and it came out without any balsamic vinegar 4th problem - pasta piacere the sauce was so watery .. the flavor was okay we added some acid (the side of balsamic that finally came for our Burrata lol)..there was a little on the meat but bit a lot to balance the gorgonzola 5th problem - we saw them pack up a to go order and some of it spilled on the table the waiter used his bare hands to pick it up and out it in the togo box . Yuck .. 6th problem - Squash soup was lukewarm and lacked flavor... who brings barely warm soup??? Drinks were ok but tool awhile to come out. The sole was good but the side potato corn salad was not good not enough seasoning. The only highlight was the Tips Diablo appetizer - the sauce was great we kept dipping our bread and bread with appetizer came were pan seared with parmesan. We probably won't be returning here .. I hope the kitchen can improve their quality checks on the dishes. Feel they need a new cook and whoever checks the plate. We spent roughly $50 pp including tax n tip for 3 appetizers, 2 cup of soups, 4 drinks, 2 entrees. We only liked 1 dishes is sad. read more

We sat at the bar for happy hour, but there was plenty of seating around and in the dining room. Our bartender was so sweet checking in on how we liked our drinks and what we would want or would change for next time. The drinks were great, and so popular that they ran out of proper glassware lol. 05/13/2025: Took my mother-in-law to lunch for her birthday. The restaurant is lovely inside; looks upscale but the ambiance and staff were very friendly and down-to-earth. Our server, Brett, was very pleasant and attentive. We had the following dishes: Tempura Asparagus (appetizer from the Spring Specials Menu): (tempura & panko breaded | grana padano cheese | roasted garlic lemon aioli) The panko breading with Grana Padano Cheese was perfectly crispy and delicious! Yum! Filet Mignon Saltimbocca (entree from the Spring Specials Menu): (prosciutto | havarti | sherry cream sauce | veal demi | asiago au gratin potatoes | asparagus) My mother-in-law loved this!! Good sized portion and very flavorful! Molasses Glazed Meatloaf: (house-cured ground beef | apple-wood smoked bacon | molasses glaze | corn cilantro mashed potatoes | seasonal vegetables) Again, very generous portions and the molasses glaze was delicious! Not too sweet! And Brett didn't even bat an eye when my father-in-law requested to substitute regular mashed potatoes for the corn cilantro offered. Grilled Swordfish (also from the Spring Specials): (ginger, hoisin & garlic marinade | pineapple mustard glaze | avocado pineapple relish | corn cilantro mashed potatoes | asparagus) The fish was cooked perfectly and the Asian flavors complimented it perfectly. Prime Rib Dip Sandwich with fries: (toasted french roll | creamy horseradish | au jus) You can't tell from the pictures, but there was a generous amount of prime rib on this sandwich. Steak Frites: (bistro filet | herb sauce | french fries | mixed greens | balsamic vinaigrette) The steak was cooked perfectly and very tender Ginger Chicken Salad (opted for grilled chicken): (mary's crispy fried chicken or grilled chicken | coleslaw | carrots | jicama | cashews | wonton strips | asian ginger vinaigrette | fresh ginger) Don't be afraid of the emphasis on the word "ginger" in the description! The ginger is present but by no means overpowering. Note: the "fresh ginger" is actually pickled sushi ginger (shoga), and as you can see from the picture, it's isolated on top of the salad so easy to remove if you don't care for it. Yummy! I've seen a couple of reviews saying the menu items are over-priced. Living in the Bay Area, I can say that the prices were more than reasonable for the generous portions served. This sister restaurant to Smiths Landing is a nice spot to eat and and enjoy a libation. I like the sort of dim/moody vibe. I have been to both locations and their food and service has been consistent each visit. I appreciate that they have more menu items to accommodate different allergies or dietary lifestyles- definitely more than SL. (Although I would not mind if they added a few more items) I would recommend the French fries and heading there for wine Wednesday if that is your thing. Half off select bottles of wine is pretty enticing! I would also say that their seasonal menus are a nice touch. read more

My wife and I had dinner here this past Father's Day. We enjoyed our dinner without bread (it wasn't offered) and the 3 different spreads someone wrote on a review. We both had the Pear Salad and Ribeye Steak. The salad was great and the ribeye good. Another customer wrote their New York steak was thin. Well so were our Ribeye steaks. In fact, the Ribeye steaks were so thin they looked like "luncheon steaks". The happy hour menu is amazing. My husband and I love coming here to take advantage of the happy hour deals and enjoy a drink after work. The diablo tips, sliders and calamari are our go-to! We also have them at the sister restaurant Smith's Landing, which is also very good, but a bit farther. Decided to stop here as my sister in law who live in the area comes here 2-3 times a month even celebrating birthdays and special events in the rear room. Since the Oktoberfest is happening the same day, we took a break and instead of supporting the local vendors who were setup, sister in law suggested this place. As we walked in, we were greeted by the host and we requested to sit in the bar area. She and I went to the ladies room and left the guys at the table. The waitress never acknowledged them, offered them water and even when we returned to our seat the latina waitress with the color blonde hair and tatt on her forearm, past several times once again nothing. A table who arrived after us, had their water and menus removed, order sent to cooks. She was the only one in that section. After waiting an additional 3 minutes, we decided to split. They were not busy, there was not the crowd from the weekend brunch so for us not to be acknowledged, welcome or apologize for ignoring us is strictly rude. I don't know if they profiled us or thought we were not good enough for this place. This place aint Gary Danko for treating us like that. Hope others had a wonderful experience.
