Jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage - virtually no sauce,

My son picked up three meals for us. The chicken and rice are EXTREMELY dry. He asked for extra sauce for the meals and not only did we not get it, but it appears as though they put VERY little on the chicken. I just finished serving for my church's Saturday service to open the container to find this. My dinner is basically ruined which is odd because I have not had u Issues with them before. Hopefully this is just an off day... Unfortunately they close at 8. I have had food from here before and it is generally good, but you may want to exercise caution if you are ordering toward the end of the day. I am going to take this back up to the restaurant Monday as they are closed on Sunday. I hope they will replace this meal. Again, maybe an off day so don't let my bad experience determine whether you try them out. This was just irritating because I feel as though no effort was made to satisfy our request for extra sauce or to use adequate sauce for the meals because they were close to closing. I'd rather you inform us that you are unable to prepare the meal to specification.

As soon as I walked in I was asked if already knew what I wanted looked at the menu had a questions about how the menu worked. The food was saucy, flavorful, and well portioned. I got Oxtail, cabbage, peace and rice. My partner got jerk chicken (regular flavor) and plantains. I hate that they are the way in Hampton because I'm a Virginia Beach girl but is definitely a spot that I would go multiple times a month if I lived around here. The place is small but they have enough seating not for parties and the had a banger playlist. Nothing like eating good food with a good playlist.

Small individual fast food joint. Inexpensive prices and casual atmosphere with four tables and high chairs. Food was warm and decent, better than fast food. Service was okay. 2*Curry Goat: goat was okay. I picked two sides of collard greens and string beans. The greens were salty, felt very thirsty after the meal. 2*Veggie Patty: warm and freshly baked, tasted okay, but I wouldn't recommend it. 3*Oxtail: soft and tender, not salty, side dishes of yam and cabbage. Yam was pretty sweet.

How are you open but pick and choose what you wanna cook! I was on hold for 22 mins, so I just drove there, while still on hold. Was ordering 3 items but was informed that 2 of them items couldn't be cooked cause they were not cooking anymore.

Tough oxtails and Mac and cheese and yams

The brown stew chicken was amazing better than the tough oxtails the Mac and yams never disappoint

Went here and got a beef patty & cocoa bread and was very disappointed. I got a hotdog bun and I don't know what else. As a New Yorker this to totally unacceptable a beef patty is supposed to fit inside the cocoa bread. I swear the Jamaican spots out here just ain't it when it comes to these. Not to mention the beef patties aren't even mad hot when you bite into them ‍

In town working for the week, so needed a lunch spot close to the project site.. saw this place when visiting tropical smoothie in the same plaza. It caught my eye and it being Ash Wednesday, I knew today would be the best day to visit to avoid eating meat. I also enjoy trying different Vegan spots, as I don't consistently eat that way, but I love all food! I originally was going to order a black bean burger, yet the red bean burger was suggested and I always go with suggestions when somewhere new. It did not disappoint at all! I ate every single bite and felt full and satisfied after. I topped it with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and the creamy bbq sauce that was also suggested. Very impressive menu, so I will be back as I saw several items I wanted to try!

    Red Velvet Cake

Ordered from their vegan side - crab cake platter with Mac, rice & beans and plantains - side of greens and a piece of coconut cake. The "crab cake" was good, nice flavor, rice was a little dry (but ok). Mac was unusual - kind of had a hint of sweetness. The cake I received was very dry - I couldn't eat it. The greens were too salty. I would eat there again -but skip the cake.

Listen! I've been coming here for years and I've never been disappointed. Now the prices jumped up a couple of dollars at the beginning of 2023. The lunch special that ran about $8 is now $10 when paying with a debit or credit card. They do pass off the credit card fees to the customer so be prepared to pay and additional 3.99% to use your card. That being said, it is still the best lunch special for the quality, quantity and over all taste of the food. I religiously get stewed chicken, collard greens and cabbage with the plantain and a half lemonade and half sweet tea. Bomb!!! They don't have everything on the lunch special, but they have exactly what I like. For the lunch special, make sure you get there before 2pm. You are welcome.

    Restaurant sign about refunds!
    Charlene C.

We originally frequented this place and gave a great review but noticed the quality dropping. Today, we ordered the oxtail and the one where we requested a little gravy was drowning. More importantly, though, it was salty and tough! Although there is a sign which states you must bring back the product if dissatisfied, when it was brought back, the owner was NASTY and refused to refund the $36.00 less the fee!!! We then drove to Norfolk to Higher Heights where the food is always good!!! Keep in mind, the photo of the food is after quite a bit of gravy had spilled into the bag on the way home. We want to support businesses during this time! This was not a donation!!! They only received one star because the review won't post otherwise.

Buffalo chick'n wrap (vegan). I hadn't taken any bites yet.

Let me tell you they have some mocktails on the menu. I absolutely love that! I've been saying we have a string market for mocktails. But, the Petron flight is so aesthetically pleasing. I Next we ordered our food. Buttermilk biscuits with an apple compote paired with a streusel topping. You can have the biscuit just the way it is, or put the apple compote on top, and finish it off with the streusel topping and it really is a great mesh of all flavors! The fried green tomatoes were my favorite! You have to put all the ingredients together... the salad, the sauce and the tomato. There was so much flavor! The berry french toast was my favorite sweet treat of all the things I tried. The gumbo was packed full of shrimp, meat, okra and more. The temperature was cool not as hot as I would have liked. But, that's nothing hard. The place does not lack flavor one bit. Our waitress Shana handled our table of 8 with ease. She was on it. There were other food runners helping out as well. Everyone was great! Making a reservation was easy. They were able to accommodate our party The portion sizes meet the price. To some pricing maybe a little much to some, but if you sit back and see what you get both portion and flavor it all adds up. Parking is a large lot shared with various businesses. It's high-end, which I barely touch due to pricing, but it does not hurt to try something new. Let's see how the evening went. After our entire party arrived, we were all promptly seated. Inside, the decor is perfect. From the bar to the dining area, everything was spotless. You can tell the staff really cares about keeping the place tidy. And they had New Orleans-style music playing through the sound system. Very relaxing. After looking through the menu, I was ready to place my order. I chose their fish special, which was salmon with veggies and a sauce (forgot the name). This dish was very good. It was probably the best cooked salmon I've ever had. When you see seafood with the perfect crust and a lot of flavor, you're in heaven. It did have a small bone and I felt it lacked the amount of squash and zucchini, but again, a wonderful meal. There was one situation which resulted in only a 4-star review. Out of curiousity, I saw on Facebook that they offered $5 discounts. I did let my party know and we were all ready to use them when the bill was ready. But the staff told us the discount was to be used on a table rather than an individual ticket. When we looked both on Facebook and our personal emails, none of that verbage was mentioned. Not trying to sound harsh, but please be sure to state every detail foe customers. We do want to find ways to save some cash out of our wallets. Except for the discount mishap, the visit turned out well. I can say I'll be back to give them anothee go-around. Till next time :)

After a couple minutes, no one greeted us so I had to literally find someone to seat us. After I walked over to get someone's attention, a server found us a seat and wiped down the table for us. We were given some time to look over the menu and we decided to start with drinks and appetizers. We ordered the Dolce Vita Margarita, a Whiskey Sour and the Tuna Bites, ordered medium. The drinks were okay and the Tuna Bites were actually pretty good, but unfortunately, some were cooked well done while others were slightly medium rare. For our entrees, we chose the Crab Cake Dinner with Girl Sprouts & Mashed Potatoes and the Rasta Pasta. The Rasta Pasta came out first and had great flavor but it was lacking that jerk seasoning taste that you would get from traditional "Rasta Pasta". My sides were then brought out and the Girl Sprouts were great but the Mashed Potatoes definitely needed some salt. I was then served a Crab Cake Sandwich, which I didn't order, so I had to wait another 10 mins for my Crab Cakes, which came out a little burnt. Overall, I wish I can say I had a better experience. We also had to wait quite a while for our server to bring over some waters. She was very nice but just kept forgetting. This spot is very cute and has a nice vibe so it could've just been an off night but I'm not sure if I would return.

Again, thanks to other Yelpers, I found this place. I'm so glad we found it. This place does have a small private parking lot, which is a good thing for the area. The interior was nice, large, and seemed very clean. Plenty of seats inside and a few tables outside. The fella who served us was very nice, pleasant, and took care of us. Now let's get to our meals: Holy mud were they good. The wifey had The Jim Boy. Which is a couple of eggs, a couple of sides, potatoes, and toast. She tells me the whole meal was very good with the potatoes being the flavorful standout. As for me, I had The Lumberjack. Wow was it good.
