I picked Karen because she participates in Healthcare Resources (a health care discount program in SoCal) and she got good reviews on Yelp. She and her assistants (Yvonne and Kitty) were great! They answered all my questions, big and small, talked me through what they were doing, and explained all the costs. I didn't have to wait at all; right after I finished the paperwork, I was shown inside. Definitely one of the best dental experiences I've had so far. Here are some costs: Deep cleaning for gums: $75 per half-jaw area (e.g. left upper jaw, right lower jaw) Cavities: $100-140 per tooth, depending on which tooth, the size of the cavity, and what filling (white or silver) Wisdom tooth removal: $150 I think these are reasonable prices, as dentists go. But it can definitely add up, especially if you haven't been to the dentist for a while (like me), so you probably want to have dental insurance. read more

It is just like the Yelp 5 stars said.. "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" Dr. Karen Ho was so good, I can't help but finally start writing reviews on yelp! I am exTREAMLY afraid of dentists and the last time I've seen one was about 10-12 years ago after a horrific and painful encounter with another dentist back in San Francisco. I finally got up the courage to see a dentist, mostly because I couldn't eat with my left and right side molars anymore T___T anyway, after calling about half a dozen doctors to ask about pricing (I did not have insurance), I found that Karen Ho's pricing is average and reasonable. The good thing is if you don't have insurance and you are paying by cash, they do have a payment plan you can sign up for if you have good credit. When I first call in to make an appt, Kitty was able to squeeze me into a same day appointment. I got that about 40 mins early but was seen almost right away. All the staff there was really helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. You can tell that the people there really do enjoy their work. After my first session with the doc, I found out I have 2 root canals, 4 other cavities and 2 extraction that need to be done. I would normally be really embarrass and I must say, writing it here still makes me feel that way, but Dr Ho and all the staff there didn't make a big deal and was really professional about it. Anyway, here is my first treatment experience...... Dr. Karen Ho is AWESOME! that's what I texted my bf during the break I had... my session was about 3 hours long (1 Extraction, 1 root canal, and 2 fill-ins), it might sound long but when your eyes are closed and you are just focusing on when you will feel that stinging tooth pain, time seem to just fly by. Dr. Ho is extremely talented and even the initial numbing shot didn't hurt (okay, maybe a little bit of a sting but really NO BIG DEAL! it means a LOT coming from me because I am deadly afraid of Mouth Pain). Just came for my 6 month recall cleaning and saw RDH Linda, she was very sweet and had a gentle touch. I was asked if I was fine with seeing a different doctor which I was, why not meet the whole team of Doctors? Dr. Mike was awesome, super hilarious and I wouldn't mind seeing him again for my recalls. So I found Dr. Karen Ho on yelp and thought I would come in to get my teeth cleaned and examined. Although my appointment was at 4pm I still had to wait a bit before I was finally seen. Pros: Dr. Karen Ho is very nice, helpful and friendly and she makes the experience very pleasant. Her staff is attentive and the dental office is nicely decorated. Cons: I thought it was very inconsiderate that, just before starting the cleaning, I asked about prices and instead of answering Dr. Ho left the room. I waited 5 mins for her staff to come in just to tell me about prices and then I had to wait another 30 mins because Dr. Ho was now attending another patient. Dr. Ho is the best! I have been going to her for little over a year now. Her staff is so nice and welcoming. I was always self-conscious of my front tooth because it had an Old, Chipped, Stained, Ugly white bonding that needed to be replaced for years. I never had the time or was scared the new white bonding would look even worse. And I need to have a nice smile for work since I am constantly in front of clients all day. After a long discussion, Dr. Ho and I decided to place the old bonding with a porcelain veneer for a longer lasting filling. The new technique Dr. Ho used was called a Lumineer and she didn't even have to numb me (I had injections!). It was done in two short visits! I had no pain what-so-ever! Her staff was able to accommodate my busy schedule. I am so glad I had the tooth fixed. Now I don't have to worry about the ugly only white bonding anymore. This review isn't for the abilities of the dentists at this facility but more in regards to the staff / receptionists running the phones and in charge of scheduling. I've been to this dental office a few times before to accompany a friend who raves about the place and the excellent dental work. Judging from appearances alone and the cleanliness of this place, I'd say the two must go hand-in-hand. Since my other dentist is a whee bit far away, I wanted to go in for cleaning, so I scheduled an appointment. Called in and I was booked for the soonest available time (the following week) they had for cleaning, and was told that a dental hygienist would be the one performing the actual cleaning because Dr. Ho wasn't available. Okay .... I told them specifically I was 'only' available on certain days due to my work schedule and long shifts, to which they understand and the receptionist was able to accomodate me for the following week. They even asked me the best time for them to reach me and I told them anytime before the afternoons. Within two days I get a call from them to confirm the appointment. Okay .... two days that's kinda nice of them. The following day after that I get another phone call but this time while I'm at work in the afternoon ... which I told them to only reach me BEFORE the afternoons. They even attempted to text me while I'm at work, leaving a couple texts, asking if I wanted to come in the next day, which at this point was getting silly because I already told them I was working all week and the day they could accomodate me best fit my schedule. So why at this point would you bother to be a nuisance, to try to get me to change my appointment to a date I already said I"m not available for? And what happened the day after that? I get another phone call during work to confirm my appointment. What the ? At this point, I'm just rolling my eyes, shaking my head, and frustrated at the people they have doing the scheduling. Do they not take notes, review their schedules/appointments, brief staff during shift changes re: follow ups and stuff? What in the world?? It's nice that they follow up. But I've lost count, and when it's in excess, it becomes borderline harassment and a nuisance, and basically tells me the girls they got working the front desk aren't exactly paying attention to their customers' interests. read more

I had two impacted third molars that needed to be taken out before they would cause me any problems down the road. I came into their office on a saturday afternoon and was treated by their oral surgeon Dr. Kriwanek (aka Dr. K) and one of their dental assistants, Yvonne. Upon entering their office, I only had to wait about 5-10 minutes before being seated in one of their rooms. Yvonne came in and asked if I needed anything before my procedure (besides a prayer because I was very scared). Then Dr. K came in; he introduced himself, explained the procedure in immense detail, assured me of any fears I had about the procedure, and even gave me helpful advice about going into the dental field (I'm currently in undergrad aspiring to be a dentist haha). Once the anesthesia kicked in (Very strong by the way, couldn't feel my jaw and lips after about 10 minutes, which I needed), Dr K. and Yvonne proceeded with the wisdom teeth extraction. I have an Extremely sensitive gag reflex, but the strong anesthesia coupled with Dr. K's patience and Yvonne's care helped me get through the procedure. Throughout the process, they would tap on my shoulder to see if I was doing okay and if I needed a short break. After about an hour (my left wisdom tooth was being stubborn, but the right side only took 15 minutes), Dr. K explained how to care for my jaw for the next couple of days, and Yvonne helped clean me up. I cannot stress how thankful I am for their patience with me. I can be a pretty difficult patient to work with because of my gag reflex, so much so I think I'm blacklisted from every dental office in the eastern LA County. Love this new location! It is spacious and clean. Well, the other location was clean too, but did not look spacious and bright like this new office. Came here for my regular cleaning and was introduced to Dr. Oh. Dr. Oh was very professional and gentle at cleaning my teeth. She explains everything very thoroughly and answers my questions/concerns. The assistant that took my x-ray was very nice as well. All the staffs here are always nice and never did I once experience any bad service from them. After my cleaning I was told I need a crown on one of my tooth. :( as much as I hate going to the dentist, deep down I know I can trust Dr. Oh and Dr. Ho to do a nice and painless job. Ok, I admit, my teeth are pretty messed up. With all the coffee and other delicious teeth staining goodies that you can eat/drink, it's an inevitability. Dr. Ho and Dr. Oh are the most patient, kind, and caring dentists I've ever encountered in my life. After having an awful experience at my previous dentist back in San Francisco, I moved down to Los Angeles and found Dr. Ho through Yelp. I scheduled my first cleaning, which went smoothly, was done professionally with new equipment, and quickly (but not "quick" where they were cutting corners or making me feel uncomfortable.) I was hooked, and enthusiastically scheduled in my next cleaning. Every time I come, there is always consistency with their work. Palm View's hygienists always make me feel comfortable, even when I have to take x-rays (which is the most uncomfortable part for me!) After Dr. Oh joined the Palm View Dental workforce, I have always scheduled my dental appointments with her--not that it matters, because I would see Dr. Oh OR Dr. Ho without any hesitations whatsoever. I recently had a filling in one of my front teeth (because there was this itty bitty gap in the front, and I was terrified of getting a cavity), and they made the experience so comfortable (including the part where they stick a needle in your gum to numb the crap out of it.) So I show up for my 11am visit to pick-up my partials(I'm very excited!) I am taken to a room and told to sit in the dental chair (normal so far...) An assistant greets me, we exchange good mornings (all normal so far...) I ask if I'm getting my partials today? (HERE WE GO!!) Assistant (Yvonne): "well about that, the OWNER would like to speak with you." I say okay, which office is she in? Assistant: "Well, she's not here today." I say okay, after I pick-up my partials I will make an appointment to see here. Assistant: "Well, she would like to speak with you now, do you have your cell phone?" Yes, I do? Dr. Karen: CALLS MY CELL PHONE WHILE I'M IN THE DENTAL CHAIR with assistants watching me!!!! - says she's calling me from LEGO LAND! (yay! Lego land!). I ask if my partials are ready? Dr. Karen: "We feel that since you are not happy, that we should refund your money." Why, are the partials not ready? The teeth were getting a bit dirty from DineLA. So I saw Dr. OH (not Ho) at Dr. HO's office. The names are easily confused, but there is a Dr. Min Hee Oh versus a Dr. Karen Ho, working at the same place. I happened to see Dr. Min Hee Oh. In any case, I was there for a cleaning session, and it was a no-frills, easy experience. Walked in and out within an hour, feeling minty fresh. I'm no fan of dentists, though I doubt anyone is, Dr. Oh was quite friendly, and was efficient about the cleaning. It was definitely a thorough cleaning which I appreciated, and I was comfortable at all times. I'm sure it must have been one heck of a job for her considering I'm not the type that picks up floss. It's a great feeling though to look in the mirror afterwards and see clean teeth. I had a couple questions to ask as well which she was patient about. So even though this office was extremely busy, I didn't feel pressed or rushed. The staff in this office are friendly and helpful as well. They took care of all the information and insurance stuff quickly without a fuss. It was a bit of hike for me from the West Side, but I must say, it was well-worth it. Plus, to celebrate the cleaning and emancipation from proper teeth care for the next six months, there was a whole slew of authentic chinese restaurants to choose from? Thank you Palm View Dental for you excellent service! I am not a fan of dental visits but Dr. Oh's kind bedside manner and clarity regarding her plan of care has me changing my tune. I've been to the office four times and I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes. Although I recall on my first visit the secretary contacted me about 1-2 hours prior to my scheduled appt to inform me that Dr. Oh was running behind and asked if I was ok with coming in 30 minutes later. I found this to be very courteous of her and her staff. In the past, doctors/dentists will just have me come in at my scheduled time and make me wait if they are running behind. Also, you will not forget your appt. If you are relatively tech savy, the office is very good about sending you reminders via text and email. read more

Unfortunately, it's been awile since I last went to a denist (shocker!!!) and i needed someone who could be patient (since im a baby when it comes to pain!) and willing to work with my inflexible schedule. Appointment can only be after 4pm pst. My recent visit was only the second time that I've seen her, but boy, does she make it a pleasure going to the dentist. My visit included 1 wisdom tooth extraction, a deep cleaning AND 2 cavities filled. And I have a follow up in Decemember! All I can say is "Thank you Yelp" for the recommendation! Dr. Karen Ho definitely deserves all the 5 stars that you see here. Dr. Ho graduated from the reputable UCLA School of Dentistry. I've been going to Dr. Ho for more than 2 years. She has done x-ray exams, cleanings, deep cleanings, fillings, extractions and Invisalign for me. Prior to going to Dr. Ho, I have not been going to any dentist for almost 5 years, as I am scared of dentists (childhood phobia). However, my dental experience has been very pleasant with Dr. Ho. She always explain the details about the problems and solutions to you, and make sure you are comfortable with what she is going to do next. She even would try to warn you if certain action would make your teeth sensitive by imitating that sensitive feeling elsewhere. Also, she checks on you every once in a while to make sure you are doing okay and to calm you down. The extractions are painless. I've never imagined extractions would be this painless, as I remember when I was a kid, they were so painful that I would want to beat up my dentists, LOL! I'm having my teeth alignment done by Dr. Ho now, using Invisalign. I had it for almost 1 year now, and the whole experience has been great. Dr. Ho's works are precise and accurate, and my teeth look so good now compared to before. The assistants there are very friendly. The receptionist, Kitty is very helpful as she works with you on your insurance coverage. She gives out appointment reminder cards, and they always call 1 day before to remind you of your appointments. The only con is, they use the x-ray where you have to bite down the sensor to capture the images, and I always have a hard time doing it flawlessly. The good thing is, I don't need to do that often. Dr. HO & Dr. OH? I find it interesting that they have family names that transpose. Dr. Karen came highly recommended by some friends of mine. Needed a good dentist w/o calling 1-800-DENTIST. Thus, I decided to give it a go. 1st impressions are EVERYTHING! The office is newly remodeled and clean. The equipment are current & state of the art. The staff are friendly and courteous. Their appointment system is on par with text/ email reminders. ALL positive points and I haven't even seen the dentist yet! Dr. Karen did not disappoint: She was thorough in explaining my options. She was patient in addressing my concerns. She was attentive in making sure I was doing ok. We took 2 breaks to allow a rest preiod in between the job (as I am sure she noticed that I was getting tired; Laying in a dentist chair is hard work.. ya know... lol). She has light hands and a soft touch. With my low threshold for pain, my gums are very sore after any dental visit. However, I felt no discomfort or soreness. This is after 7 fillings in 1 session!!! The people working here are magical creatures. I absolutely HATE dentists, as I had a bad one as a child. However, I noticed the inevitable stains and buildup on my teeth and decided after 10 years that it was probably high time for another checkup. I had an appointment so everything happened pretty quickly. I checked in at the front desk office, filled out some forms, got some x-rays done, and then got my teeth cleaned. They also found four cavities so right after the cleaning, got that done in a jiffy as well. Dr. Oh was kind, professional, and wonderfully gentle. I was super nervous about all the procedures, especially removing the cavities, but she talked me through all the parts that might've involved any sort of pain. I went from freaking out in the chair to being relaxed and comfortable in a matter of minutes when I realized that everything was going to be fine. To be honest, I wouldn't mind going back for check-ups every 6 months if this is the level of care that I'm going to get! Only negative is that prices are a bit high - some of my cavities were quite small, but they charged me the same amount for each. read more

I recently got 2 fillings done by Dr. Oh. She was so gentle, I didn't feel a thing from the moment she numbed my teeth. Yes, even the shot was painless, which is always nice! I believe everyone, no matter how brave, can get a little anxious when finally sitting in the dental chair and getting your work started. But Dr. Oh will make you feel like you have nothing to worry about because you are in great, capable hands. Even now- after a few days, both the teeth that were worked on feel great! I can't recommend Dr. Oh enough. I trust her to work on my teeth and constantly refer my friends and family to her as well, who are in need of a great dentist. My first thought coming out of this place: this is by far the best dentist I've ever been to! The staff was friendly and professional. Dr. Karen Ho was super approachable and patient. I was here for an orthodontic consultation, and she examined my teeth thoroughly with clear explanations of what she was doing. She concluded that my teeth were perfectly straight, save for a deep bite, which wasn't a major concern. She went on to address and explain things that no other dentists had taken the time to do before. She didn't try to sell me anything I didn't really need. There was no rush either. I love Dr. Ho! She has been my entire family's dentist for the past couple of years now and I absolutely adore her! I've had horrible experiences in the past with physicians and dentists, so it was such a blessing to have found Dr. Ho right here in the SGV. One of her greatest qualities as a professional is that she explains every detail and step with you as she is working on you. I love this because no one enjoys hearing that drilling sound or feeling that suction contraption, so with this added measure she allows us as patients to anticipate and mentally prepare ourselves for whatever discomfort we may indure. She is also extremely gentle when working with drills and uses a generous amount of Novocaine when necessary, so you never have to worry about feeling any pain in the middle of a procedure. (I've had this happen to me twice and it wasn't pleasant). All of her staff and assistants are also kind and friendly. Kitty, who I think is the office manager can appear stern and "all business" at times, but I really like her. She's very efficient and thorough with any concerns regarding your insurance and/or payment. I always make it a point to try and make her crack a smile whenever I visit. Plus, I appreciate how the office gives courtesy reminders not only the day before for your scheduled appointments, but also when its time to schedule your annual check up. The one downside to Dr. Ho is that she is a Bruin...so if you're a Trojan fan like me, just excuse her one flaw because she is amazing and worthy of overlooking her powder blue and gold ways. read more

I am a doctor myself, and I can tell Dr. Ho is genuinely caring for her patients, and very thoughtful and detail oriented. She is good at her craft, and kind to the patients. I even overhear her offering other patients different options to help the patients save money. True, she doesn't directly give you prices on services, she has the staff talk to you regarding pricing. But that seems to be the case in all dental offices I've been to. I think it is not necessarily a bad idea. Overall, thumbs up, I'd recommend her highly! read more

Dr. Ho is highly professional and a great dentist. I have been coming in for regular checkups and cleanings which were done impeccably. I have also gone in for various cosmetic things like filling in grooves and a consultation on whitening. She is terrific. She gives you all the facts and lets you make decisions for yourself. I drive from San Diego to see Dr. Ho. Their waiting room is comfortable and when they say your appointment is at 3:20pm, they call your name promptly at 3:20pm which I appreciate. They will also email you a week or two prior to your appointment to remind you. My dental hygienist, Joy, was great. She gave me sunglasses so the light wasn't blinding me. My teeth felt thoroughly cleaned. Dr. Ho is super nice. I've never had any insurance issues. I sometimes think about getting a dentist in SD so it would be more convenient, but I like Dr. Ho and her team too much. read more

If you're looking for a new dentist due to COVID-19, you should come here. I feel safe coming here and they are very clean. They have you wait in your car until your room is ready and they check your temperature and provide you with hand sanitizer. They also make sure you don't touch anything, even the door handle! Each room has an air purifier. Now for the staff, each and every staff I have interacted with have been extremely nice and friendly. They will call/text/email you back. I appreciate the responsiveness. I've been coming to Dr. Ho since January 2020 for Invisalign and she is knowledgeable and really cares about her patients. She ensures her patients are happy with their teeth after the treatment is over. If you're not satisfied she will do whatever it takes to make sure you're happy, afterall Invisalign isn't cheap. My teeth look so much better now. Since my current dentist was closed, I decided to also come here to get my teeth cleaned. I had an appointment scheduled on a Saturday, but due to a power outage in the neighborhood, my appointment was cancelled a few hours prior. I called back the next business day to reschedule & they got me in the following week. Dr. Ho was actually the one to do my teeth cleaning. I was shocked that it wasn't done by a hygienist but I guess she felt bad that they had to cancel my appointment. I really respected that. How many other doctors do teeth cleaning? Anyways, I've probably been to the office 6 times this year between my teeth cleaning, invisalign check-ups, and teeth fillings and each time has been wonderful.
