I first found InStyle Dental when I was looking for a dentist for my baby daughter. Dr. Liu (who is no longer there) was the perfect dentist to build the foundation of a positive dental experience for not one, but two of my younger children. Our experience was so good that I became a client, my husband and my oldest child. We also refer our friends who are looking for a good dentist. I know that InStyle might be a tad bit pricey, but the quality of service they provide is hands down, worth it. I had had a root canal done at my previous dentist's office and had still felt a dull ache and was told it wasn't anything to be worried about. Once I moved to InStyle, they were able to pinpoint that my root canal wasn't done properly and helped me fix it to feel no pain. NOT ALL DENTISTS ARE THE SAME! INSTYLE Dentists are far better! I'm mad and happy at the same time since the care my son Jaden has received over the past 6 years was not great. Mad since I only realized what better dentistry is when I brought him to InStyle. I never knew the difference. 1. After getting a cavity clearance and being told he was ready for braces from his prior dentist, Dr. Kar double-checked and informed me he had real concerns. The other dentist treated 2 of his teeth as cavities and filled them but it turned out Jaden had 1 that had gotten so bad, that he had to go to an Endodontist and Dr. Karr did a root canal on the other. Both of these could have been prevented but were misdiagnosed by the other dentists. 2. The first Orthodontist who put braces on Jaden talked us into creating 2 gaps for implants when his braces were complete only to inform us at the end, that the Implant Surgeon told Jaden he was not a good candidate for Implants. Our only option was to shave down 4 teeth to create 2 bidges. 3. Went to get another opinion and came across a great Implant Surgeon who gave us lots of hope. He felt confident Jaden would be able to get the implants but needed to go through another round of braces to open up the spaces more. 4. We already had an ortho consult from the prior dentist's office for Invisalign and the sister office for a consult on braces. Dr. Kar's office was referred to us so we decided to get one more consult with Dr. Kim. OUTSTANDING!! She gave us an option with Invisalign that was not offered to us by the other 2 Drs. I am so grateful. She added pigment to the 2 missing teeth so it is unnoticeable when he wears his Invisalign. It's incredible. 5. I started to question the care of our other children received by another dentist. Dr. Kim also saw our other son and thank GOD we came when he was still growing. The other 2 Orthodontist never mentioned that he had a severe overbite that affected his facial structure. I was mad at first that the other 2 offices never mentioned it but fortunately, because he is still growing, it could be corrected with braces if done immediately. NOT ALL DENTISTS ARE THE SAME! Let me first state that I am in the group that only writes a business review when I've either had a terrible experience or an exemplary one. In this instance, InStyle Dental absolutely came through for my family. Living through unprecedented times with the Covid-19 pandemic, our 5 year old daughter was experiencing extreme tooth pain this past week. She was scheduled to have several cavity fillings this month with her current pediatric dentist but their practice was closed and they were not seeing any patients during this time. The only option they offered was a referral to a dental surgeon to have her teeth extracted which was not a viable consideration as her adult molars were not expected to grow in for another 5-6 years. Feeling deserted and frustrated in a time of need, we searched Yelp and came across InStyle Dental's highly rated business. We were very fortunate to find out that Dr. Kar was available and was willing to see patients in emergency instances and we were able to schedule an appointment the following day. Considering that this was our daughter's first in-depth dental experience, Dr. Kar and his assistant Michael were nothing short of amazing. Their calm demeanors and approach kept our daughter feeling comfortable throughout the whole procedure. The facility is top notch, the equipment is state of the art and all of the instruments were clean and or wrapped which included the tv remote. With Netflix available, our daughter kept still for the duration as she was able to choose her favorite Power Rangers show which kept her mind busy and at ease. In this time of stress, my wife and I are very thankful for Dr. Kar. Our daughter is no longer in pain, is able to eat again and is back to her happy self. We visited this office because it is closer to where we live. We couldn't regret more. You think you have insurance covered for a regular cleaning? Think twice. At the visit no mentioning any cost except for optional "x-ray $60" at the reception.They will "validate" your insurance and perform regular cleaning, and bill you months afterward for $308. This is not even Beverly Hills price, this is scam. I have dental insurance and was billed for $308 for REGULAR CLEANING. What kind of dentist charge this much? First off I would like to address insurance issues that people may have experienced thus leaving a bad review for this office. I work at a physical therapy clinic that is not in network with any insurance so I fully understand the frustration of a patient. However, patients don't understand that we as medical providers do not have EXACT numbers of reimbursements because insurance company decide how much they will pay after we bill them. Also, this explanation can vary depending on insurance. In all, medical offices have limited info of reimbursement. This place may have slightly higher rates from other dental offices because they are GREAT at what they do. You pay for what you get! By all means, you can go elsewhere but I guarantee that you won't get the same treatment. Dr. Kar and his staff are sweet and friendly. I like that Dr. Kar is very diligent with his care. Also, Yolanda is one of my favorite dental hygienist!! I love that she's gentle and thorough, and she provides me with the necessary education so that I can protect my beautiful teeth!! Mike greeted our son warmly and listened with care to his anxieties. He then offered to demonstrate the entire procedure on this finger before the work was done on his tooth to help calm his nerves. He constantly reassured him and answered any questions. What started as a traumatic morning quickly melted into a learning experience where our son felt comfortable and proud of himself. All I can say is WOW! I have been coming to here ever since I was 10, so for about 9 years now. Not only has my family known them on a professional level, but on a personal level as well. The staff there has got to be the kindest and most professional there. They always understood my needs and did a spot on job when I got my braces and Invisalign. A huge pro has to be their office. It is THE cleanest I have seen, and very up to date with the equipment. THIS is how all dentist offices should be! I was looking for a dentist for my 4yr old and happened across reviews for Dr. Liu. Then after looking at the dental office's website and saw that they take adults, too, I decided to book myself an appointment since I was also looking to change dentists. I'm glad I made the change and came to this dental office. Both Dr. Liu and Dr. Kar are great; super friendly and very knowledgeable. They take good care to explain insurance coverage before scheduling any procedures so that you're comfortable with your financial obligations. They're also very thorough about explaining what they're going to do for your teeth, as well as why certain procedures should be done. You get to watch a netflix program of your choosing during the visit, and they send you home with a nice little dental care package after a cleaning exam. My child has been going to the same dentist place since he was 18 months. They provide a very child friendly environment for the children. Well, everything changed when Dr.Kar found a cavity on my son's tooth at 1.5. So, As a parent ofcourse you start researching your options. Well, I guess at InStyle you aren't allow any options. Dr. Kar immediately suggest that he gets put to sleep so that he can fix the problem. I've heard horrible stories about kids not waking up from it. At that point I was like "NO" and provided him with my options such as local aesthetic or laughing gas. But, he refused and said it won't work. Yes, it did! I took my son to Parklane Dentist. They gave him laughing gas and fixed his cavity. I feel like some dentist just wants the easy way out. As a parent and a protector we must not take certain things lightly. Guess it's my fault for not reading the bad reviews on here first since I made the same mistake! Beware! Make sure you check your insurance for coverage. They will not do this for you! Don't let them scam you! This review is not on Dr. Liu, but it's more about how the practice runs their business. Maybe it's my fault that I didn't do my due diligence by checking if my insurance covers first. But usually, the dental office will check for you. I thought my PPO would cover in most places but I guess not here. It didn't cover everything. It baffles me how much it cost to brush my daughter's teeth! It was her first visit and all Dr. Liu did was showed us how he brushed her teeth and taught us how to do so. So when I got the bill, I was shocked. $147 just for that and it's not like there was cleaning or anything else. When I asked the receptionist to email me a break down on the cost, I never got anything and I even tried asking for some discounts too. Nope. I guess money to them is more important than keeping their customers happy. If they called my insurance company and told me that my insurance didn't cover everything, sure they may not have gotten my business, but they would still have dignity! read more

This review is based on the Orthodontist. The Orthodontist is only there ONE DAY a Month. So if you have any issues with your braces you have to wait an Entire month to see him. When we were in there the Orthodontist was So busy running around that he just popped in checked on the progress and ran out. Not even bothering to explain or address you by name. NOT only did the orthodontist Not do a thorough review on my son. They claim if we do a Phase 1 Braces then he will not need braces later. They put brackets on some baby teeth that in turn effects the incoming permanent teeth. The incoming permanent teeth were coming in crooked but with the brackets on the baby teeth does not allow the baby teeth to move, potentially effecting his other permanent teeth. NONE of this was explained to us. Instead they proceeded to put on the braces on the baby teeth with the potential of damage to he permanent teeth that were in already. It took me over a month to try to get a copy of my sons records and X-rays. By law I can have a copy of my sons records upon request. Should not have taken over a month but I was persistent and Finally got a response. If you need Braces go to an Orthodontist that has the time for you and that is available to you when you need them. The pediatric dentist is great, but that is about It. read more
