On a Saturday evening, we ventured in for a sweet treat and it was thankfully pretty quiet. They have a good selection of different flavors like guava cheesecake, black sesame and various teas. We enjoyed the saffron kulfi (almond, pistachio, cardamom) and cookies and cream (blue tinted which didn't seem necessary). The server gave us a nice big scoop for $5.99. In addition to ice cream cakes, they sell signature sundae type things that you can customize and likely friendly to the camera but not to your wallet. There's a good amount of seating towards the back, which is nice since most ice cream shops are small. There's also a location in Hoboken. Looking forward to returning!

Their homemade ice cream is delicious, and they offer a huge variety of flavors. We stopped by on a Friday afternoon and lucked out--it wasn't crowded yet. If you've ever been here during peak summer hours, you know that's a rarity. This place is a local favorite, and long lines are pretty common later in the day. I was really hoping to get my favorite, Bailey's Cream, but they were sold out. That's one thing to keep in mind: while they have a ton of flavors, they aren't always all available. I ended up ordering the Black Raspberry Chip with free rainbow sprinkles (my go-to), and it definitely hit the spot. Someone in our group got a milkshake and absolutely loved it, while another ordered the Cappuccino Oreo and enjoyed it as well. Portion sizes: A single scoop (their small) is surprisingly large. With prices having increased over the years, I'd love to see a smaller, more affordable option for those times when I just want a little ice cream. I also wish they'd let you choose two flavors in a small cup instead of requiring a double scoop (medium) if you want to mix flavors. A few things to know before you go: Van Dyk's is cash only, although they do have an ATM inside if you need it. The shop itself is very small, with no indoor seating or restrooms. There are only a few places to sit outside, so most people end up standing around or grabbing a spot on the small wall. Parking can also be a bit of a headache. The lot gets hectic, especially when they're busy, and better signage would definitely help. We've found it's often easier to park on a nearby side street and walk over. Even when the line is long, the staff does a great job keeping things moving. One employee usually takes care of an entire group from start to finish, which helps keep the ordering process efficient. Everyone we've interacted with has always been friendly and helpful. Even with the cash-only policy, limited seating, and hectic parking, Van Dyk's is still one of our family's favorite summer traditions. The homemade ice cream keeps us coming back year after year, and hopefully next time they'll have my favorite ice cream, Bailey's Cream, in stock.

The event involved dozens of kids and parents, and the food held up incredibly well for a large crowd. The ice cream was excellent: very flavorful, rich without being too heavy, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The Hong Kong milk tea was also a big hit, and the croffles were fantastic. Crispy, buttery, fresh, and just really well executed. You could immediately tell there was real attention to quality across the menu. We were also impressed by the logistics and presentation. Delivery was right on time, everything was packaged carefully with ice cream kept on dry ice, and the setup made serving a large group easy and stress-free. Nothing arrived melted or messy, which is no small feat for a big party. Overall, the quality for the price was excellent. Joy made a great recommendation, and after trying everything ourselves, we'd gladly order for a future gathering or party, or also visit the store to grab a few items if we pass by.

I've always been a sucker for this frozen treat, so I'm glad Cups is still around. I visited the Fair Lawn location on a Friday evening. The store is bright and colorful with some seating in the back. They have about 8 self-serve machines with over 20 different flavors - fruity, nutty, chocolate, tart, decadent, etc. They have over 50 kinds of toppings ranging from candy to fresh fruit to syrups to cakes. You grab a cup, choose your flavor(s), grab the handle, and swirl away! Top off your froyo with as many toppings as you want, BUT just be aware that it's $0.78 per ounce. It's super easy to rack up $$$ AND calories on this treat. This location also sells ice cream and allows you to build your own ice cream sandwich. The store was very busy at the time and packed with families, kids, and teenagers. A little chaotic. There were two employees and they definitely could've used another hand with running the store. I asked one if I was able to sample some flavors and she told me "they ran out of sample cups". Something in me told me she was lying LOL. Probably my BS detector. So I asked the other employee for samples and what do ya know... She sweetly told me she was going to run to the back to get me some. I sampled two flavors that I usually get at all froyo stores: Eurotart and Salted Caramel. I have a huge sweet tooth, but these were sickeningly sweet. Wayyyyy too much sugar with artificial flavors. What really threw me off was the consistency and texture. They were SO ICY that I could see the individual ice crystals. It was nothing like what froyo should be - soft and creamy. I was really looking forward to getting a cup, but the service and mediocre froyo turned me off. So I walked out empty handed. I'm glad I sampled it before I bought anything because I would've been annoyed for dropping $$ on bad froyo. I might give them another try in the future, but I can see why their rating isn't so high.

The cheesy, gooey mozzarella moons are hot and crispy on the outside with the perfect amount of mozzarella on the inside. As you indulge, remember to stretch the cheese as long and as far as you can - shoot for the moon! You won't go wrong with whichever style burger you choose. The black & bleu was piled with bleu cheese crumbles. You won't see the patty on the cali burger, but don't be deceived because it's packed with avocado, bacon and other flavorful toppings. You'll definitely need two hands to devour these bad boys! French fries are always the number one backbone to any hamburger plate. I explored the original fries, and for a small upcharge , I also tried the sweet potato fries. It was sweet variation from the common potato. To finish off the meal, I slurped a mint chocolate milkshake. Unlike the vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, this fourth flavor is not available all year round. The shake has a perfect thickness and texture. And the dessert drink toppings are simple, but satisfying. And if you aren't in the mood for typical burger and fries, the diverse menu also offers breakfast, Greek, and vegan options. The owner, Paul, will definitely make sure you are taken care of. #RocknTheGrill #glenrocknj #blackandblueburger #caliburger #milkshakes #burgerandfries
