Nail service was great, happy with everything. Be aware that you are going to be charged a "service fee" and an "S&S fee". I wasn't sure why my total was off when paying and checked the receipt that was emailed to me when I got home. That's when I saw these two fees added to my total. (each fee was $3 and some change, totaling an extra $6.15) I called to ask what they were for. The only thing I could think of being charged extra for were the throw away foam flip flops they give you. I was shocked to hear the receptionist tell me these were fees for "maintenance" and "sterilizing and cleaning the tools and facility"! So basically their customers and clients are paying to clean their building and tools. The price of the fee isn't the issue. I've never in my life heard of such a thing and believe it's the company's responsibility to pay these fees as part of owning and operating a business. read more

I wanted to write up a follow up as the management of Paloma was misleading, inaccurate and incorrect with their response to my negative review. My last appointment at Paloma was August 2023 On the subject that I was only helped by Anais. This is a complete fabrication. My account was even noted to never make my appointments with three of their employees because their service was so disappointing. Unfortunately I only have the name of one of them. Michelle. The other one was a heavy set Asian lady whom likes to work as a team with Michelle. I read a review where someone else was complaining about her. Referring to her as a heavy set "sumo wrestler" Definitely go to Paloma if you can book with Anais. She is wonderful. These are some of the problems with the other technicians: 1- they like to do your mani and pedi at the same time. "To save you time" despite the fact you booked your appointments to be performed separately. The problem with this approach is that your mani will be done while you sit at the chair and twist your back. They also cut their service time short. Not following quoted time on your reservation. 2- poor application of color 3- cutting to much of the sides of your nails to the point where my fingers hurt. 4- speaking to each other the entire time which really goes against the entire point of a relaxing vibe 5- the heavy set Asian lady has limited English skills. 6- I took my own Hermes polish often. They liked to argue with me that it belong to the salon. My experience at Paloma as a client is as followed. This is very lengthy. The first time I gave back negative feedback to management was because my pedicure was done so poorly that the color was chipped by the next morning. I was offered 10% discount on my next service. This was highly generous. 2- next appointment My account wasn't noted correctly, And since the salon couldn't reach the owner there was nothing they could do to applied the promised discount l. I follow up with an email to the manager. No response, however I did receive the discount on my next service. 3- I took my mother in law for manís/pedis in August. I booked a gel fill service for her. Apparently Paloma has a policy that if you had your gel applied somewhere else, you would be charged an extra $30 for your fill. Unfortunately this is not specifically mentioned on-line while making the reservation. They called me to make sure I had not doubled booked. At that time no questions were asked about my mother in law's gel service and I was not advised of the extra charge When my mother in law sat to have her nails done, Michelle asked if it was her first time at Paloma. It was. Michelle then went to the cashier to have her add the extra $30 to the service; however Michelle said nothing to my mother-in-law of the up charge. We went to pay. Our services totaled over $329 before tip. When we inquired about the $30... we were finally informed of the policy. They try to argue it was because they use a higher end gel. They use the same brand everyone else does. This is certainly not one of their "clean" products. The manager was contacted, then the owner, and finally the owner, whom doesn't empower her store employees to make these types of adjustments reluctantly agree to take the excess charge. Again, great concept for the place. If Anais still works there, certainly book. Just be aware of the problems I listed and I hope you never need to complain to the micromanaging owner. I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews for Paloma, as I've only had good experiences here. Is it the cheapest salon around? Absolutely not. Is the parking a nightmare? Unequivocally yes. Do I love my techs Anna and Laura? Also yes! I return to Paloma because I don't get my nails done very often (never been an every-two-week girl), so I can accept the price. It is very clean, doesn't have a chemical smell, and my nails always go about eight to nine days without chipping. I only get regular polish. I can't give it five stars because the color selection has really plateaued. I loved the Hermes polishes they offered, which haven't been around in months. There aren't many new colors popping up either, so it would be great if they would do a refresh on the color wall. read more

Came here for a last minute pedicure while I was in town for a wedding. I was able to make an appointment online and was greeted by a friendly face and a smile when I walked in. The set up of the salon is unique with large trendy blue chairs and only small buckets underneath-- not like traditional nail salons. There were a wide variety of colors to choose from for polish and the employee who completed my pedicure was kind and did a nice job. A few minutes of leg massage were included with the pedicure which felt great. The pedicure was $55, I left a $10 tip and my bill came out to $70 with tax. Quite pricey, considering that it was all just for a standard pedicure, but the atmosphere was relaxing and the environment was pleasant! read more

The owner works in corporate (Alvarez & Marshall) and willingly runs an illegal/fraudulent business. Safe to say, for a "clean" nail salon, this business is far from clean. As an engineer& attorney myself, who also works in corporate, the owner had her staff forbid my service dog and I from returning. I informed her staff it was illegal and they decided to go ahead and ignore the problem and cancel all my appointments. I had to file them against the Texas Department of Licensing Regulation and the Texas Attorney General office. When it comes to business conducting illegal matters, this is where I draw the line. I've attached the complaints for anyone who wants to see the gravity of their negligence. I did some research, and the owner already had to shut down two of the five locations already. It's a telltale sign that the way she runs business' must be abysmal. Last but not least, color choices are limited and horrific and she charges at a 25% premium for "clean nail salon" experience. Take your money somewhere else. This owner should learn to follow the law and train her staff with some manners. read more

I am at a loss for words after reading the below comments from the nail salon. I looked for and found the email mentioned by the salon that was sent to me offering an apology and a full refund. I was completely unaware of this communication and/or update. The vast majority of communications I ever have or had with the nail salon are in form of a text. My review to the salon was via text. As this is how I received the inquiry regarding our most recent service. Never did I think I was sent an email. Unfortunately, my email on file is for an account that I don't check frequently. I just checked my bank account and indeed I was fully refunded for both pedicures. I posted my review this past Friday 7/22 to Yelp based on what I believed to be lack of response and action. As I mentioned in my initial post my husband and I have always had great experiences. Based on the email that I received today from the salon my husband and I are banned? I've been to Paloma a couple of times and have enjoyed my experience, but today really stood out. I got a facial (The Beauty Within) with Rebecca. I can't say enough how professional, yet personable she was. She made my first facial experience very comfortable and she provided me with affordable skincare recommendations that she HAND WROTE along with instructions on how to use the products. I really felt like she went above and beyond in listening to me and addressing my skin concerns. Also, I got a pedicure by Michelle - which was incredible. Michelle was friendly, attentive, and hygiene-conscious. She provided me with an effortful and relaxing calf and foot massage which was much appreciated. Pedicure is lovely but I've never heard of a "Safety & Sanitation" fee at a nail salon. Isn't that what you're supposed to do? It's like a restaurant charging "cooking to temperature and safe consumption" fee. This was in addition to my $50 bill for a pedicure with Essie polish. Kinda overpriced for regular polish. Oh, and I had gel on 2 toes. 2 toes. $15 for removal. So in total $50 pedi + $15 polish removal + $3.10 Safety & Sanitation fee + $1.95 tax = a total of $70. And I added a tip on top of that. Tried this place for the first time yesterday and can't say I'll be coming back. After less than one full day, my nails are already chipping and peeling like crazy (see pic). I got the standard manicure and pedicure and with tax/20% tip the total was over $100. I realize I should've gotten gel or powder for staying power, but for my first time there I felt like the entry services were the way to go. For $100, I feel like the chairs should be comfy (they're not even massage chairs), the polish should be top of the line (it's not, even for non-toxic) and staff should be top notch (I had to ask my manicurist to push back cuticles and the whole procedure took 1.5 hours). I've gone to two Paloma Nails locations: River Oaks & Heights, so I'm not a new client. But I'm probably going to become a former customer. When I checked out from my last shellac, I told the person at the desk that I felt that the technician hurried through the last part of the procedure. She poo-poo'd me then, but I have proof positive now that it was the case. Two nails on one hand have started peeling/chipping. Drying completely and properly is the most important aspect of shellac polishing. The technician didn't do that. When I called today ( the peeling started a couple days ago but progressed rapidly today), I was told that Paloma has a 7-day guarantee and that I would have to come in today for free repair of their sloppy job. I cannot get there and they will charge me $5 per damaged nail tomorrow. That is their policy! I TOO HAVE POLICIES. Finding Paloma was a god send for my nails. I have very thin, flexible nails that are always breaking or splitting. Normal salons wouldn't treat them with the care they truly needed so they never got better. I started coming to Paloma in December 2018 after getting engaged and destroying my nails with shellac and fake nails. I came here and got the Paloma mani and wow. Ever since my nails have been healthy and growing. They even taught me how to care for them when I couldn't come in. The staff is thorough and friendly. I've never been hurt or cut here. They take their time and have attention to detail. The color selection is amazing... so many high end, high quality choices! They have a variety of beverages as well, also great quality (aka not wine out of a box haha). It was my first facial in Paloma. I took 'The Beauty Within', my specialist was called Larissa. First of all the cabinet for procedures is tiny, it's in the middle of the salon, so you hear all the steps, all the talks outside, atmosphere is not relaxing at all. Larissa came to the salon around 5 minutes before my appointment, so we started a little bit late. She asked me several questions about my skincare routine and then she started the procedure. Procedure includes double cleansing, exfoliation, thorough extractions, customized mask plus hand, arm and shoulder massage. Massage was nothing, less than a minute, she barely touched my shoulders and fingers even she was reassuring me that she has very strong hands. She was talking the whole procedure, it was ok, but I didn't relax at all. Once she told that she will stop to talk but didn't. I asked her not to do hard extractions because my skin is really good in general. I think she spent like 15 min doing the extractions, no facial massage even that I asked her to do it. She promoted me new pedicure, eye treatment, asked me about my waxing and skin of my husband. It was too pushy for me. To sum up - after the procedure I had red oily face, my hair was also oily, I went home immediately to take a shower. I spent $100 with tips and I didn't feel relaxed at all. I've been here several times since the pandemic began. It's definitely pricey but the peace of mind for cleanliness and social distancing is worth it for me. I usually go with the Pronto manicure $25 and Quick Fix pedicure $25. The service is always on point and I like the selection of nontoxic quality nail polishes offered. Since I have to wash my hands frequently at work, I add a layer of clear nail polish before each shift and color lasts almost two weeks. I am sick to my stomach writing this review but it has to be done. People need to know about this business' childish behaviour and lack of professionalism. I am a single parent with several health problems and since my son was born (he's now 20 months) I had not been able to go get a mani/pedi. I was SO excited to come across Paloma as it is the only nail salon of its type in Houston. I booked my first appointment for May 23rd, my 30th birthday (which I was so excited for even though I normally don't celebrate birthdays). Everything went fine aside from being nicked during the manicure. When it was time to pay I asked to use the card they had on file but it didn't go through because I forgot I needed to transfer cash. I transferred the cash and told the receptionist to try again. The money was taken out on my end but was not showing up on theirs so they still needed payment. I didn't have any more money for them to attempt payment again so my friend used her card for me and I would pay her back later. We left. Shortly after, I booked an appointment on their online portal for a shellac manicure for the coming Tuesday at their Post Oak location partly because I just wanted to try a different location and partly because I changed my mind the day of and wanted shellac instead of The Pronto but the manicurist did not have time to fit it into the schedule. Ten minutes later I received an email saying that my appointment was cancelled so I called immediately to see what was going on. The girl that picked up the phone put me on hold to find out and when she came back I was SHOCKED to hear what she had to say. She said that I am no longer allowed back for services at any explanation. Completely befuddled, I asked why and she said "I have no further information". I told her that I wanted to know what I had done and she said she would pass along my request for someone to call me back. I asked to speak to a manager and she said there was not one available. Another 10 minutes later, whoever runs their social media reposted my story of me getting my pedicure. I replied, "I was just banned from receiving services for God knows what and you still repost my story? I'm so confused." A few minutes later they deleted their repost and blocked me! I have never come across a more childish, unprofessional business in my life. For "a businesswoman who believes in leading by example", Maryam Naderi, I don't think this is a very good one. I only use non-toxic polishes at home and am so grateful for a salon who provides healthier services for people like me! Was searching for a new place to get a manicure when Paloma Nails popped up. I made an appointment online which is great and efficient. Got to the location and there was plenty of parking space (went on a Sunday afternoon) Walked in and there was no one at the front counter (I don't like when there is no one to greet) Any who this place is super nice, clean, and open. The manicure stations are against the back wall which is a window (makes the area look bigger). Now to the nails, Marisol was my manicurist. She did an awesome job! Didn't rush through any of it. When it was time to apply the polish, 3 of the 2nd applications were a bit stubborn as bubbles kept forming. Marisol took the time to fix the polish on my nails 3 times until they came out smooth. I felt SO pampered, and more than that, Paloma is incredibly clean, well-decorated and it's obvious they treat their employees fairly (which is not true of most Houston nail salons). I was at Paloma yesterday on a Saturday afternoon. This salon is quiet and you receive a very long massage with both the manicure and the pedicure. This could be a relaxing experience, but they use bowls instead of the heated jetted pools for sanitation and the water in the bowls gets cold and the top of the bowls aren't very sturdy and come off. Mine fell in the water during my pedi, and I felt like I had to hold my feet carefully so the top wouldn't fall off again. My manicure, which is the reason I go to the nail salon, is better with my regular nail tech. Also the spa bowls at my regular salon are lined with plastic before each pedi to deal with the sanitation issue. I think Paloma should get rid of the foot bowl concept and maybe use a plastic lined jetted tub. The foot bowl is just not very functional. My shellac mani and pedi was $115, without tip. I prefer to have a faster mani-pedi with a better result (that I will look at for two weeks) than a slightly off long spa experience. Plus, at $115 I would expect the result to be really great. read more
