My friend and I went for dinner on a Friday night (I would recommend making a res) and split the amazing carnitas, ranchero salad, ceviche, and cheesy hominy casserole. Also the manager I believe his name was Bobbee is incredible and really made our night giving us the history of the original bar in the family that owned the restaurant before. Charming cafe and loved the service here. The staff was incredibly nice and treated my dog so sweet with water and treats. The best part of the eating experience was the actual cocktails. Wow. We landed in Santa Barbara after 14 hours of travel and, fortunately, found ourselves dining at this fabulous establishment. Rich in history, this refashioned La Paloma had a creative yet hardy menu that was a twist on dishes with a latin flare. Hominy reimagined as a faux Mac and Cheese? We couldn't get enough. We had an amazing diner at La Paloma(polzole, hominy and tri-tip were some of the best we have ever had), we sat on the patio and enjoyed the sunset with delicious cocktails and wine. Omar stopped by from the bar and talked about the drinks and shared stories about travel. Our server Christine was exceptional, she went beyond simply taking our order. Great conversations were had and we are looking forward to bring family that visits to La Paloma for a friendly personable dining experience. Stopped in for a drink, we were the only people here. Ordered a michelada, a beer, and a shot. Ordered the michi first, and it took like 15 minutes. I had to ask, the lady didn't say anything walked over to check on it, and still waited another 5 minutes. We got to check La Paloma out shortly after they opened and really loved the food and thought the service was top notch. My partner was a big fan of the hominy cheese casserole when we came that time. I just ordered out for lunch today and wow.. I think the Burnt Ends is my favorite dish I've had there, the beans and slaw are a good combination. Love the rest of the menu and how they focus on California specialties. Just read about your new happy hour hours and prices . your happy hour glass of wine will still be $14-$15 ! that's really high when some of your competitors like the courthouse Tavern has six dollar glasses of wine! maybe you should buy a less expensive lower quality wine and offer just that one for real happy hour prices for six dollars! And only at the bar?? Some of us are still not feeling safe dining /drinking indoors once everybody has their masks off! vaccination efficacies are fading and not everybody has had a booster! locals don't enjoy paying those prices! Went here for dinner as the reviews were good. Was extremely disappointed. If your looking for Mexican food this is not the place to come. It is very gourmet and overpriced. My husband ordered Santa Maria Tri Tip with pinto beans (these were sweet baked beans) small portion for $24.00. I order half chicken with roasted potatoes. I asked the very nice waiter if the sauce was sweet as it mentioned it had apples in it, he said absolutely not, so I ordered this item. The sauce was sweet, it was pretty much apple sauce on my chicken, also about $20.00. No chips as appetizers there were the pinwheel Doritos the street sellers sell for a dollar with some chili pepper sprinkled on top. Spent $60.00 for 2 meals, 1 beer. Also left hungry and I satisfied. Would not recommend this place only had a few appetizer and salads and about 4 dinner entrees. Not a lot a choices and definitely not Mexican. There was not one authentic Mexican plate in the menu. read more

Patio was comfortable with lots of heaters despite chilly nighttime temperatures in the high 40s. Loved the brussels sprouts with pomegranate, juicy tri-tip, and chicken. Went here for the first time tonight and it will not be the last! Loved everything about our experience. The waitress bringing our two dogs fish skins and water was so unbelievable and kind. The food was AMAZING!!!! Every si gel dish was better than the description on their menu. Our waitress was so sweet and the bus boys asked multiple times if we (or our dogs) needed anything. We sat on the patio and the wall heater in the planters was the best! I also grabbed a blanket when we checked I. So I was the coziest I have been at a restaurant in a long time. On Saturday 5/27/23 we had came to La Paloma after riding the SB Land Shark and the brunch menu + quality service from our servers (Ava I believe? As well as Alberto with the great bilingual conversations) was needed. The burnt ends bowl was f****** amazing. Although this place is expensive for most college students, its always a great treat. A super positive experience that helped made our night special. We came here for our anniversary dinner after a day out. While making the reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating anything and marked the anniversary option. The hostess gave us a cute card in celebration. We arrived at their reopening time (5PM) for dinner and there were little to no people there. We sat on the patio alone and this added to a private-style dinner together. The patio was beautiful, homey vibes with hints of the city around us. Our waitress, Gigi, was on it, the absolute sweetest, and made sure we were having the best time. I ordered a hibiscus margarita and my partner a horchata, followed by complimentary mixed champagne glasses (waitress noted partner wasn't drinking and made a nonalcoholic version, so sweet). Everything was delicious, we had the ranch fries, house special appetizer, the chicken and pork shoulders carnitas (this was absolutely delicious!!). Tonight's experience was divine! I met a friend there and we shared 3 dishes that were incredibly delicious. We were dining early so had the pleasure of learning about the history of the cuisine before it got too busy. That was thanks to the 5 star service we got from Bobby. We recently had dinner and drinks for a ladies night out. The restaurant is gorgeous. Apps: the Brussels sprouts were the real winner. The artichoke was super watery and not super flavorful. Entrees: the cauliflower tacos were decent, the catch of the day was flavorful. Drinks: the margaritas were great- they have pitchers of spicy margs which were great! All in all- would try again.
