PAL's Liquor and Wine store is a very convenient place to frequent for me since it's right across the street from where I live. The place is packed with goodies too numerous to mention here, but all sorts of trinkets and convenience items can be found here. Navigating the store can be a daunting task since it is filled to the gills with all sorts of food, drink and spirits, but the selection is fair and ample. The nice couple who own the establishment are cordial and accommodating. The husband may be a slight more reserved and quiet, but the wife makes up for it by greeting customers with a smile and sunny personality. I have known many owners at Pal's for over 30 years and all have been a pleasure to deal with. The prices may be a tad bit higher than elsewhere, but I am of the belief that I'd rather pay a little more at a local Mom and Pop neighborhood establishment than perhaps saving a couple of bucks at a big box retailer, Target or Safeway. Another plus is that they open early and staying late. If you are a soccer player, the store is frequented by young and old soccer players at MLK field right behind the store and is cherished by all when a refreshment is desperately needed after a strenuous workout! read more

This is the worst liquor store ever do not go there in your life. I called them to ask about the specific kind of cigarettes, and there was an Indian guy screaming at me and cussing at me, for no reason at all, did not say a word to him other other than ask for those specific cigarettes they have horrible customer service. I went back and try to call him again and he blocked my number and I could not even reach them anymore. read more

This is one of those places with an ironic name. When I hear or see the word "Pal," I generally think of friendly, reliable, and happy. The word "Pal" is not something I would use to describe or name this liquor store. Believe me, I'm normally reluctant to leave negative reviews, especially during this Coronavirus lockdown. I always want every business to succeed (now more than ever). So let me start with the positive... 1) They're open. 2) They sell booze. 3) There's free parking out front. And that's about it. The rest of the store is pretty grim. I've never been in a more claustrophobic shop. The aisles are super small and filled to the brim with merchandise, but in no particular order. You could find a can of beans right next to the toothpaste. Now let's go back to the whole "Pal" thing. Who ever the guy was working the register wasn't very friendly (and he certainly didn't act like a pal). He kept watching me suspiciously while I tried to find what I was looking for. When I went to pay, he never said hello or thank you. Also, I think it's important to point out that he wasn't wearing a face mask. I don't mean to be a Covid narc, but even the 7-11 employees wear a mask and regularly clean the counters. Let's face it, that's just what you need to do nowadays as a biz owner. Pal's Liquor looks like the typical liquor store, including slightly higher pricing on the beers. not much selection in lg. bottles, six packs yes. chalk this to rent. buys: steel reserve alloy beer. 2/$3. 24 oz. -high gravity lager, 8.1%, tastes slightly sweet and nasty. -claims of smoothness undercut feelings of a possible"throwing up". on draught -no sign of guy in turban. -cashier looks like someone from that continent, clean shaven though... seem an ok guy. confirm pricing when i asked. didn't overcharge. read more

Horrible man! On a Christmas night drive I stopped to get water. I engaged the man wearing a turban (I'm guessing owner) in polite conversation and bought a large bottle of $$$$ Fiji water. I took it back to the car and after opening it I discovered it was frozen solid. Went in to exchange it and he told me to take the frozen bottle of water and use a hose around the side to soften it. I stupidly went looking for the faucet but couldn't find it and finally thought, "wait! I just paid for this! I'm just exchanging this for one that isn't frozen." Duh. So I went in and politely told him I was doing just that. He argued w me and chased me out of the store demanding I pay for the water, claimed i was stealing it. What an asshat.
