I bring my dogs in here regularly to wash them myself and have their nails clipped. I have never had a terrible experience with either. She is so loving to the dogs, takes care of them and does what she can to make sure things are done right. Dogs are happy and I am happy. For example a friend left their extremely old dog with me ungroomed and matted (read: in pain). She took that dog the day I called and freed it from the matts. Neither one of us could stand it - and she juggled her calendar to help. read more

So VERY disappointed. We have been using Pampered Pup for a couple of years for our 2 dogs and it has been reasonable. Yesterday my husband went to pick them up and they charged us $375!!! I am absolutely furious. According to the owner, they had a lot of mats in their hair - which is odd because they were in the water at the beach two days before and I had no trouble brushing them!. I came here for a self wash but the location is down for construction. They still offer grooming services, but have no crates for the dogs. Have no set prices or services. I made an appointment anyway, showed up. The girl at the front desk was rude when I arrived. The door was locked. I tried to hand over my dog while I fill out the paperwork. She made me feel like I was doing the wrong thing to hand her over. I asked the price she said she would check. They don't even have a dremmel for nails. The charge was going to be $75 for my 5lb dog with no mattes in her fur. I said you know. I think I'll go somewhere else, she goes yeah I think that's best. They didn't ask for my dogs shots records. Shady... shady... shady... hopefully they can get their act together. I wouldn't recommend. However I didn't have my dog get a cut there so I can't speak to the quality. I have been looking for a groomer on the coast for a while now and was pretty excited when they were able to fit my dog in within a few days of my call. My newf is pretty laid back and is usually very good at the vet, groomer, or daycare. While I was filling out the paperwork for his grooming, Mercedes took him to the back and he started crying. I asked if she needed to see his vaccine records and she told me that she didn't need them. I should have asked for him back at that moment, but I didn't. Mercedes called me 2.5 hours later to tell me that he was ready for pick up. He usually takes at least 3 or 4 hours because it takes a long time to dry him. I couldn't get there right away, but picked him up about 45 minutes after the call. When I got there, he was still soaking wet. True, he does not like the dryer but he will tolerate it with some coaxing. But to be dripping wet? The set up there is not very good. 1. They do not have a proper holding area for the animals. I know that they are still under construction. Fences on mats scattered around a room did not look safe. 2. You have to call to pick up your dog because the door is locked at all times. They need a receptionist at the very least or a door bell. 3. No proper register or a way to get a receipt. I might be back for the Self Service station if that ever happens, but I will not be back for a grooming. read more

I've brought several dogs to Pampered Pup and am extremely pleased each time. The dogs are happy, well taken care of and well groomed. Mercedes has a very special way with the dogs. I have one that is blind, old and afraid of everything - which leads to snapping. Mercedes is able to sooth his nerves and he is happy with the attention he gets from her. I have been going for 6 months, I have 4.. now 3 dogs that I bathe every other week and I use the self service for 17$ each dog. I used to be a Groomer for 8 years, I like my dogs clean! Really long story short the woman that runs the place did not like me going that often... even accused me of running a business out of there? (I work full time at a local vet) that's one of the things she said , she also said I take too long , because I fully dry my dogs.. I'm there about 45 min for the longest dog.... total time includes wash and dry. I don't get it.. I didn't get it... why? What was I doing wrong? There was nobody waiting. When I questioned her for scolding me that I take too long, you then would have thought I was in the wrong for questioning why... she also told me I can go other places... I had ALWAYS cleaned up before I left... wiped things down even... I used to groom so I would never leave a mess... they have cameras that show that! Oh well, I guess they don't need the business which is a bummer because I liked going... so if you go , don't go too often and make sure you don't fully dry your dog because it takes too long... read more

We have had our girl here 2X and the service and results have been excellent. Our German Shepard has so much hair and their work on her has kept the hair balls minimized between cleaning. her hair is so soft and she has stayed fresh longer. She loves the place and is eager to go. Appointments were easy to make and the timing was great. We'll be back. read more

We are traveling on the road in an rv right now and it's been hard to find places on the road near our campsite to groom our two dogs. Our one dog Finnegan's dew claw was super overgrown and we called this place last minute. The friendly owner got us in Within an hour of calling- both dogs groomed within two hours. The cost was super affordable and we felt like our fears of having our dogs groomed by a stranger were immediately put to rest by how accommodating the owner was to us and how sweet she was to our dogs....both dogs left happy and clean! I really wanted to like this place! We have come here for nail trims in the past, but usually take our poodle-shitzu mix elsewhere to be groomed. We live in HMB so having a groomer in town is super convenient, but not if they don't do a good job. My husband asked for a puppy cut, which is super common and literally every other groomer we have interacted with knows. The lady seemed confused which did not instill confidence from the start. The haircut was pretty uneven, you could see lines on this back from the clippers, this didn't even bother me that much because I know they will fade away quickly has his hair starts to grow. The hair on his legs was pretty bad though, with multiple areas that are considerably longer and very patchy. They also cut down the hair on his ears which no groomer has ever done before, and they did an absolute hack job on the ears, super uneven. I feel bad slamming a local business, but it was honestly pretty bad. Our regular groomer is in Santa Cruz and charges $65 for a really nice haircut. Here they charged nearly double that for a pretty bad job. read more

My 2 year old Golden Retriever came out barely able to stand on his hind legs. He never had any issues before. 2nd day he's still limping and very upset. My dog went in there a playful puppy and came out seriously injured and upset like an old dog. Owner tried to insinuate he had hip problems. He was PERFECTLY healthy before I made the mistake of taking my dog to Pampered Pup. Also, she missed most of his toenails and didn't clip his dew claws (although that's minor compared to his back injury). We are considering legal recourse... UPDATE - Our Golden never fully recovered and favors one leg. We are now going to have to pay for expensive surgery. DON'T TAKE YOUR DOG HERE - you will feel horrible and guilty that you subjected your best friend to animal abuse! read more

Came in here in an "emergency" situation when my dog rolled in poop and burs and I was 9 months pregnant and couldn't take care of it on my own. The owner took pity on me and squeezed him in right away even though she had a full schedule. I think she might have skipped her lunch break to do it. He was squeaky clean and fluffy in less than an hour and she only charged me $35. I will be forever grateful! read more

My dog like most doesn't seem very happy being dropped off to be groomed but when I started coming here I could tell she was comfortable and happy there. Going to a place named Pampered Pup you would think that you would get a nice grooming. Not!!! My little dog got the worst haircut she has ever had. It was so choppy and uneven. There was fur that was 2 inches long next to fur that was half inch long. I had asked to have the fur cut on her face,it was slightly trimmed but still hanging in her eyes. I just don't know how she stays in business. I guess that I will just have to chalk this up to a $75.00 bath! read more

Boy did we have a bad experience here. Don't take your dog here for grooming. The older woman/owner is very nice and loving of your pet, but can't follow basic direction on how you want your dog groomed. Maybe a combination of not listening combined with poor grooming skills. Even our dog is embarrassed about how she looks now. read more

My mother took my two medium sized golden doodles here after she tried taking them to a busy groomer in Palo Alto - they refused to go in because of the noise and barking. My guys were wagging their tails going into her place and can't out looking very dapper and equally waggy. Plus, the price was right and definitely made the drive out to HMB worth the extra effort. Plus the dogs got a beach day out the trip and my mom got to enjoy the charming downtown. Wonderful experience! read more

I've been using this place for a while. I have a difficult dog and previously tried some local groomers who were supposed to be good with difficult dogs but they charged me a lot of money (like $135 for one!), didn't finish the job, and lectured me about the dog (he's a rescue with some anxiety issues). At Pampered Pup, he always got groomed, though not always the best job, and the dog and I were treated with respect. The reason for the 5 star review instead of the 4 I would have given in the past is the new groomer at the new set up who did my dog last time. Wow! Mercedes has a very special way about her. Our dog, Zack can attest to that. Zack loves Mercedes and her poodle. We can bring him in for nail trimming and anal glands and Zack is so excited to see the pair that the service doesn't bother him in the least bit. This was are 3rd time here in the last 6 month. The place is a great for bathing your dog in there tubs. They provided shampoo, towels, brush and you can blow dry your dog. They do nail trimming and we tried it in a few month ago and the young girl did a good job. When we went back last weekend we decided to have his nail trimmed. The older lady used clippers that where dull. My dog had a split nail in which broke off completely and bleed for two days. We now need a vet visit $$$ and my dog is in lots of pain. We will not go back for nail trimming. The place is a great for self bathing your pup which we will use again. read more

DON'T HAVE YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE! I was desperate to have my Bishon Frise bathed and groomed, and called around to get an appointment. The groomer of this shop called me back, and I asked her if she knew how to cut Bishon's. She assured me she was capable of grooming these types of dogs. I brought him in and specifically told her I did not want him to be cut short, as I had just combed most of the mats out of his hair. She told me she would not cut him short. When I arrived to pick him up, she had scalped him all over the body and legs and unevenly cut his mane, with peaks shooting out in different directions. I was furious, and let her know I would never go there again, and warn other people to not go there either. This is a place that might be OK to bathe dogs (although I wouldn't trust that either), but certainly not groom them. Stay away from this place!!! read more

I have been trying to find a reasonably priced place on the coast to get my dogs nails trimmed. I happened upon Pampered Pup by accident. I am so happy that I did. Driving over the hill for a nail trim was a pain and the other coast side places I called charged an astronomical fee. I am happy I found PP. I don't know what happened to my dog. Owner seemed nice enough but my dog looks beyond terrible. How does a professional groomer go wrong on a shave and trimming of the ears and tail? My dog has an appointment at a different groomer tomorrow to try and fix what's left of his coat. This whole experience has been very costly and extremely disappointing. I wouldn't recommend bringing your fur-kids here. They deserve better. read more

The owner was very pleasant, however, my dog's cut was horrible! His feathers were gone and what fur he had left was cut ragged. My husband had to use grooming tools to help alleviate the bad cut. Never, ever again. I've used the self-service bathtubs there, which are fine. read more
