I started going to Clara some time ago. The first 2 times that she bleach and toned my hair the results were GREAT. She did a fantastic job. No real breakage lifting my level 2 hair to a solid 9. She did such a wonderful job I recommended her to two other friends. I'm not entirely sure what happened or changed, but she fried my two friends hair and absolutely melted mine off. I'm talking 50% of my hair GONE right at the crown/top. She left me under the heater for too long and over processed my hair until it literally melted off. She didn't even say anything about it. I had to find out when it started growing back and I had a Karen peacock grow out. There's no way she didn't know it happened because she pulled the foils containing MY HAIR out at the sink. I'm not new to bleach. I know some breakage is inevitable. But OH MY GOD. This was devastating bad. She absolutely refused to take any responsibility. When I pointed it out she asked me if my cats were chewing/eating my hair in my sleep. Excuse me. What? She also implied that maybe my girlfriend was cutting my hair... again. What. I went back one last time hoping she would take responsibility for her mistake and offer to fix it, or make a plan with me to get it back to health, because hey, even hairstylists have bad days.. right? Nope. She just blamed everything on everyone else. The owners who won't turn on the heat in the building. Her assistant who "just quit all of a sudden", and her boyfriend who stressed her out. I finally got so upset and said, "look, can we just acknowledge this looks awful?!" And only then did she say, "yes.. it looks... not great." No apology, no refund, no offer to fix it, and no responsibility. As for my two friends, one that has dark hair and simply went for a balayage and had severe damage was told by Clara, "that's not damage, it's texture." That was in virgin hair. The other has literal chunks melted off and was a bleach and tone. She talks a lot about how great she is at bleaching hair and that she does every Russian blondes hair in Vancouver, but I would not recommend her if you have naturally dark hair or want your hair stylist to take ownership of their mistakes. read more

Jen has been doing my hair the past few years after I destroyed it with box dye. A coworker recommended her and in one session she got my hair to a gorgeous platinum blonde! Every appointment she consistently delivers a beautiful blonde, when I've requested a white (ash) blonde, or more of a honey blonde, she has nailed it each time! I had to stop going here in early 2020 after being a very loyal customer for over 2 years. I had been going monthly, and out of 24 appointments 20 of them had been moved or rescheduled and NOT by my request. I have kept every single text message showing this. Some were canceled or moved with VERY short notice. It got to the point where I was finding myself booking my appointments on my 1st day off in anticipation that I would end up having my hair done on a subsequent day off because the appointment would get canceled or moved (I work 4 on / 4 off). I was paying SEVERAL HUNDRED ($350 at times with the tip) a month for color, cut, style, treatments. I'm a generous tipper. I also had a prior long standing relationship with Chelsea, so this was personally very hard for me. It broke my heart that it came to this, but I could not continue to be jerked around. I explained to her why I needed to go elsewhere when I left. I have a busy life and my time matters. I am an understanding person, and life happens...an occasional cancelation is one thing, but a monthly habit is something else. From the looks of other recent reviews this wasn't an isolated situation. I'm pleased that I've found somewhere else to go where my time is valued, and on top of that I'm paying 1/3 of what I paid at pampered for the same quality of work. In the 1.5 years I've gone to another place not once has my new stylist canceled or changed my appointments. *** Side note...this isn't a review for the salon in general, just my specific situation with the owner. Had a Groupon so gave this place a try. So disappointed. Ashley did my partial highlight and cut. She's young and I'm guessing does not have much experience based on my experience. They upsell you off the bat - $20 extra for lowlights and $10 extra for an olaplex deep conditioner she said would be better than the conditioning treatment included in the Groupon. The experience at the salon was ok and my hair looked ok until I got home the next day and washed it. My hair is totally fried. Completely dried out, breaking, looks awful. I have been highlighting my hair at the salon for years and years and my hair has never been in this damaged state. I'm completely upset and disappointed. The cut is blatantly crooked with longer pieces sticking out everywhere. It's flat with no shine or volume and the color looks drab. So unhappy. read more

I have been following Clara Brant on Instagram for a long time. I wanted someone who could work with dark asian hair. I tried to make an appointment with Chelsea 4 times she canceled all times, with less then a days notice. I find this a waste of my time and very unprofessional, i highly recommend not giving her your time especially when she wastes it and canceled only a few hours in advance. When I got home and washed and dried my hair, it was so uneven that I had to have it fixed somewhere else the following day. I will never go back here and never recommend this place to anyone else. An incredible value! I got the Groupon deal, but the prices are awesome even without. If you've got Aveda Salon tastes on a Supercuts budget, this is the place to split the difference. The shop is a little difficult to find, as it's on the backside of the shopping complex away from the road, but it was sure worth it. Melissa was able to accommodate both me and my 7-year-old daughter the same day. We're both very happy with our haircuts. My hair was washed, deep conditioned with heat, cut in long layers and styled just the way I wanted. I got comments right away... even my husband noticed, LOL. read more

Went here for a Brazilian blow out and it was such a nice experience. My stylist , Ashley, was super professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. It was a relaxing ,cozy, quiet environment with TVs at each chair including Hulu and Netflix. Plus, they had good lighting , not that terrible salon white light that makes your eyes get red. Just want to start off by saying that I NEVER post bad reviews but this place deserves one! And one star is too much. I left that place with greasy hair (from too much product) after my hair was cut and styled. Once I got home I was able to see the horror that was unleashed on my hair! It wasn't even cut the same length across! It's diagonal!! And there are a few strands that were missed and were a good 4 inches longer than the rest. I wish I would have paid attention before leaving the salon because I'll now have to pay someone else to fix this nightmare! So glad I opted to not do any color, can't imagine how that would've turned out. The olapex treament wasn't that great either. I barely got washed out and the chair/washing bowl was insanely uncomfortable. Only plus? The place was nice looking and there was a free bottle of water offered to me. read more

I'm really confused and pretty disappointed with how this turned out. I went in for an all over lightening and balayage. I showed Chelsea a picture and she said she didn't think she could get my hair quite as light as what was in the picture but she could definitely get it lighter. I explicitly said I didn't want yellow/brassy hair and I didn't want dark brown roots. She left my roots dark brown (close to black) and gave me the brassiest blonde hair I've ever seen and kept calling it caramel. I paid $300 and regrettably tipped because she was nice. Everyone I tell and show my hair to said I was taken advantage of. I paid to look like I bleached my own hair 8 months ago. Even the balayage part is blotchy. Idk if she charged me the full $40 for my haircut. She cut off an inch from my hair and forgot to add long layers by my face. It looks so bad and I'm really embarrassed i did this.
