Stopped here for Guatemalan tamales and champurradas because I can't find a Guatemalan place in San Diego and was extremely disappointed. If you're looking for authentic this isn't it. The tamales were all masa, very little sauce and chicken and none of the typical garnishments like capers, olives, peppers. The champurradas also terrible. If you want a regular cookie and not a Guatemalan champurrada then you won't be disappointed. I went on a Saturday around 12:30 PM and the place was empty. Only a few people sitting down I went I ordered, but when I walked in, I did notice that the place was dirty. The floors weren't mopped the table for cleaned place looked very dirty order my food I sat down and went sitting down. I seen multiple cockroaches, crawling from the floor to the chairs to the couch to the table tables. I asked one of the workers if she could clean the table, and I told her that there is cockroaches all over the place, and she did not look surprised she has said They are all over the place. Show me the one you found so I could kill it and she did. She killed it with one with the paper towel and she didn't even remove the chair. My child's bff is Guatemalan & their family referred us here. I have been on the hunt for Authentic Guatemalan bread forever!!! My aunt has been highlighting this place for a couple of weeks now. Since I was in the LAX area, I decided to stop by. I purchase a dollar from each kind; ganzitos, tostadas, etc. and I was so happy with the taste of it all. It wasn't hard shell like many other bakeries and it was the freshest it can be. Their "pan franses" with their beans are a must!! They're all baked the morning of so you're always guaranteed the freshest. I also tried their Guatemalan Tamales. They are pretty big in size and they come along with a pan Frances for $3.50. It was delicious, however at this location it's made with lots of butter so that not how I'm used to having them. But it's indeed delicious. Mary the cashier was epic!! She was super friendly and acknowledged every client, just like they do in Guatemala. I recommend this place with no doubt. read more

I go in between 7-8 am. After the first time I started asking is the French bread aka bolillo from fresh from that day. Server said yes and I explained that I had got hard from the inside and out bread. It's happened at least 6 times which leads me to believe that they either change the baker and they can't get the recipe right or they're purposely making it really hard. However, I really think it's day old bread. So I'll start going to North Gate Market for my bread. Plus how is it that even though I go in at 7-8am there is up to 3 out of 5 servers at the inside or outside counter's taking there break. I get one go then wait for the other and so on but 3 when you only have 5. There no order of having the restaurant side customers order on the kitchen side and the bakery customers were the bakery side is. Everything is mixed. Not just me but you have 7-10 people waiting for service in the same line and the restaurant customers still have to get to the front of the line and decide what they want. That is ridiculous. At the beginning there was organization not anymore. I've waited in line for about 25 min but at least the French bread roll were worth it. Which is a shame because the quality and urgency of service was wonderful the first year (Give or take a couple of months). read more

This is a hidden gem that I'm glad I stumbled upon. The vibe for the bakery and restaurant is mellow and welcoming. The staff are attentive and I never felt rushed when ordering. If you're looking to try Guatemalan Cuisine this is the place to be. The parking area is decent however keep in mind it's a shared plaza space. I ordered a pan con chile and ordered some sweet bread. I don't know if it's because of Covid, but the champurradas are really sad. These have been the worst by far. They are super thin, tiny, and underbaked. They use to be a nice golden brown and always uniform in size. I'm also disappointed that the hojaldras have to be special ordered! I drive all the way from Riverside in order to get a taste of Guatemala, but I may not waste my time. I hope that there is an improvement in these, because they are my favorite. read more

Food has been always delicious even though it's a little pricier than other Guatemalan bakeries but the wait times are always long... what gets me is even with online orders we still have to wait at least 30 minutes because they can never find our order. Every time I come in and try to buy the pirujos, they never have any to sell. They either run out completely or only have them as a side of a meal. Which I don't understand, seeing as how they have a bakery section to this restaurant. Also, the employees that work here are nice but they don't have sense of urgency. Therefore, it takes longer than it should to get your order. Overall, I still really like this place because the food tastes good, and it a reasonable price.
