Honestly, what stood out to me and my experience is the way I was treated. Of course fellow customers were a bit thrown because of my being African American and walking into a bakery of this kind looking to pick up a couple of things. I grew up on the east side and my tastebuds are very familiar with the pastries of this kind along with the tamales and things. I love the set up. Upon walking in there are trays and tongs that you pick up so nothing is touched with your bare hands as you shop. Conchas (Mexican Pan Dulce) is what I was after but once I started shopping, I ran into other breads and rolls I was very familiar with. I was totally impressed by the avocados near the register. They were nice and huge. Also they sold corn tamales and the cashier who was impressively friendly and efficiently professional let me know that they will soon sell Salvadorian tamales. This is a top notch bakery. They have so many customers that their side of the street stays busy and customers come out with serious bags!!! read more

Found this bakery open late on a Sunday hoping to find a cake and I did! The bakery was full and had a line to checkout. The two ladies at the register were really nice and helpful even though they had a lot of people waiting. We got some pan dulce and a tres leche cake, it was delicious ! Will definitely go back to try their other cakes read more

A wide variety of bread that ranges from Mexican to Central American. It's fresh and kept in sealed display boxes that protect it from the elements. Highly recommend the queso cremoso they have at the front--so so good and with their soft bolillo--it makes a great snack. Haven't tried their cakes yet but it's on the list. Parking can be a pain so it would be best if you bring a buddy who can double park while you run in and grab the goodies. read more

After lunch in a fabulous Cuban restaurant in the area....I was craving guava....so I told hubby to hold on before we start the 1 hour drive home...cuz I was going to Yelp us a spot to satisfy our sweet tooth. A few spots came up and we ...ok "I" ..decided...to check out Panamericana..... I was crossing my fingers that the name reflected the selection......central, south, north...American goodies. This was on Sunday and we found free parking ..right in front of the bakery. Yesssss...already happy.....LA parking and all..can be discouraging....but if you're a true yelper....use the distance to build your appetite...hee hee. First impression, homeless young man sitting on front bench without a shirt on..... but was not disturbing anyone. Not a big deal.... we-walked in and immediately noticed how bright and light it was inside. Several bistro tables with what looked like locals (always a good sign) enjoying everything from pastries to salads and sandwiches.....and other specialities. Decor fabulous with the America's on the wall.... I was excited that even my itty bitty ..Nicaragua was on the map. Already felt at home. The baked goodies were not many.....but there was a good variety... hubby ordered the coffee cake and I ....yess...wait for it... GUAVA pastry. Both delicious....and they were served warm.....we gobbled it up. I would definitely come back next time we are in the area for Cuban food. My only suggestions or critiques are that they only had cheese and guava pastries.....not just guava without the cheese.. The young man was trying to be helpful and said.."oh it's not very much cheese...it's light". ...very sweet....but my tummy doesn't care..lol lol .... and since we were going straight home...I said...I'm in..lol lol .. I also bought a bottle of water.....and had not noticed they had nice cold free lemon water....so save some $$ . read more

I think I've tried all of their bread over the years. Their conchas are super addicting. I love the long thin flaky ones that fall apart as you eat them. I can never remember their name. They sell individual pieces of cake also. The chocolate cake is really good but I prefer the strawberry cake. Their bolillos are so good especially when they're right out of the oven. I stick with their pan frances salvadoreño. It's so crispy yet fluffy. It sells really fast so don't be surprised if they're out. There's plenty of street parking around. Sometime you get parked in but then you get to eat the bread as other fellow bread lovers shop. Also if you see the pupusa lady selling them on their corner order then enter the bakery. If she's not busy your food will be ready after you buy your bread. read more

This is overall such a great bakery. When I lived near the LA area as a child my parents would always go there and get quesadillas (like the bread not with cheese) and they're sooo good! We moved away but my grandma lives around there so when we visit we always stop by. As I go older I discovered their mil hojas and its literally my favorite I get it everytime. Some of the bread is hard depending on the time you go and it is a rather small bakery/shop. The parking is awful theres almost no parking but hey its worth it. read more

The bread is alright, but pricey. Some of the women workers specially the young ones are rude as if they own the place and even the owner (the lady) is rude too she once charged me 6$ for a piece of cake that is actually 3$ I went the next day and they didn't do any thing about it. And one time I asked if they didn't have any softer bread cause it was very hard and she told me it was the only one they had when there was more behind the counter, thank god the owner(the guy) over heard and made her give me another one. I have been buying pan dulce from this location since the late 90s and the quality and taste has remained the same. Prices are great and they sell a variety of pan dulce - from Mexican to Central American (El Salvador, Guatemala etc..) In addition to a variety of cheeses, tamales and bolillos/pan frances. The cakes I pass on as I don't like all the frosting and artificial fruit they stuff them with. The flan and leche polidada is good and fresh, never had a bad batch. The service is a hit or miss - they can be friendlier. Depending on the time of day/week or season be prepared to stand in line. They also accept orders over the phone. read more

My favorite spot since I was a child. Forever going to be the best spot for authentic foods and pastries. Each worker that makes each bread is from the origin of the bread. Salvi breads? My family has been going to this place since I was a kid so I decided to order a cake for my girlfriends birthday a week and a half in advance. I ordered the cake to be ready by 12pm and received no call about my cake the day i was supposed to pick it up. Then i get there at 4:30pm to see that my cake wasn't even made and they had nothing to say to me or give me except my refund. Terrible service. read more

Their pan dulce is very good!! They have a wide variety of sweet bread and they sell cakes too. They also sell salvadorian tamales that are very delicious--i buy some almost every time i stop by the bakery! Prices are very reasonable and affordable too.
