    Pancake with waffles
    Genevieve M.

"I absolutely loved the total 80s throwback vibe here! Michael Jackson and New Edition jamming in the background while I devoured some seriously delicious waffles. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, the restrooms were spotlessly clean, and the whole place smelled fresh like Fabulosa the moment you walk in. I'll definitely be coming back--can't wait for my next retro breakfast fix!" I give them 5 stars!

My daughter & I ate breakfast at Pancake Joe's, caught the before noon special and everything was great. The pancakes were the right size, the eggs were fresh, milk good, bacon cold and a little too hard, breakfast sausage was over cooked and my daughter exchanged the sausage for ham. Our waitress was cute, very manner able and a joy to serve our table. RECOMMEDATION: Overall I recommend Pancake Joe's for breakfast.

Food was fast, tasty, and overall a great experience. Less the a 15 minute wait to get in. A little noisy but still worth it.

The boyfriend was craving an omelette so I ordered our breakfast online. It was ready pretty quickly, so I went to pick it up. Staff was very friendly. Got back home to eat. Was disappointed that they put a slice of cheese on top of the omelette instead of shredded cheese inside of it. Also, they put my fruit under my monte cristo instead of separate, so it was warm. The bananas and strawberries weren't fresh, didn't eat them. The food was good, with a few tweaks it could be better.

The service was fast and the servers were very friendly. The food was delicious. It is an old building so expect older tables and booths. We are totally ok with that. We were not fans of the coffee that is why it's 3 stars. We will come again.

I got the eggs Benedict with sausage and hash browns as the side ($11). The eggs Benedict tasted a little off. I think it was either the English muffin or sausage that had a weird aftertaste. Similar to pacakaged/frozen food or just bad diner food. I added a lot of ketchup and hot sauce to make it more palatable. The hashbrown was yummy. The prices are reasonable for things. I tried some gravy and biscuits and those were pretty good! The pancakes look on the thin side. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? The inside is clean. Service was fast!

One of those places where the food looks great for an instagram picture but tastes bland. Only took 2 bites out of my food. Ambiance is still the same since opening day, maybe remodel it to something less grey? Service was alright.

    A great mom-and-pop breakfast/diner place to try

Finally!!! We were able to try Pancake Joe's, I was joking this place is the other half brother of Trader Joe's. Today I was able to find out what's buzzin' in here. From the outside, the place doesn't really look interesting at all but once you stepped inside, it looks like a regular neighborhood diner that we are used to go to back in NJ/NY. There's not a huge selection on the menu, that's a good thing though, so they can concentrate more on their specialties--pancakes, waffles and everything breakfast. So happy to know we are supporting a mom-and-pop local business, and it's interesting to note that they only have two (2) locations, hope they remain that way so they could be consistent with the quality of food and service. We arrived just at the perfect time around late 9ish in the morning, anytime after that would be crazy. We saw a lot of people waiting to be seated as in a lot when we were leaving. Anyway the whole wheat waffle with fruit I ordered was pretty good and my cousin's original French toast with extra order of sausage was also good. Nothing really extra ordinary but the food we had was prepared-well, doesn't look and taste like fast food at all. There's a lot more choices in the menu that look promising but we need to try it next time when we get another chance. The best part of our breakfast experience this morning is the service that we get from Lizzy. This young lady with a pretty face looked much more beautiful because of her exceptional customer service. She was thoughtful enough to ask if I want a sugar-free syrup...she really went the extra mile with that simple gesture being sensitive to dining customers. She was also prompt and made sure checked-up on us several times if we needed anything else. The quotations hanging close to the ceiling are funny and interesting, it helped create a relax ambiance amidst the busy dining area. The place is not that huge but though it looks old, they make sure they keep it clean as much as they can, we noticed that the lady manager was always on her toes to spot clutters on the floor and at the same time making sure she's coordinating her server for available seats. It was a pleasurable breakfast experience for us, not extraordinary but the food we had was prepared well and fast. Perhaps if we have friends or visitors from out-of-town or out-of-state, we'll bring them here. Just hope the management knows how great Lizzy's customer service is, she's exemplary and needs commendations. Hoping also that the rest of their service staff is like her.

We were a party of fourteen. Our waitress came to our table right away with menus and took our drink orders. She gave us an adequate time to peruse the menus then came and took our orders. Our food was delivered in a short amount of time. I ordered the Breakfast Special (two pancakes, two eggs and one slice of ham $6.48). Every one enjoyed their food and we will all go back. There were no charges on our tickets other than our meals and taxes. Great food, great service and great prices!

Joe's is always pretty decent. Today was a tad better than that but at least it's consistently ok rather than super hit or miss. It's more like a first base hit with a double here and there...but never the homer. The service was generally and genuinely friendly, which is a huge plus. That is really why I left the 4/5 and not 3/5. The food though, certainly a 3/5. Overall good flavor but the potatoes were a little underdone. Still packed some flavor though. The eggs were done right (sunny side up) and the rye bread on the side looked and tasted phenomenal with the whipped butter and some jelly. The atmosphere was blah. Could certainly use a solid cleaning. Especially along the windows rails and under the tables. That for me takes a star away, immediately. I can't eat somewhere that I feel is dirty. Everyone doing there best but many just don't know how to clean well. Needs to be taught. Overall, again, pretty decent. Wifey liked her $5.99 house special of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. I guess that was pretty close to a home run there. Or is that Denny's? Whoops. Happy Eats!

Whenever I Reward myself with a carb day, I make sure to head down to pancake joes and hit up the pancakes and/or waffles. On this occasion however, it was a protein day, so I stuck with the Eggs Plus plate: scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, sausage patties and wheat toast. For such a young staff, the food/service are consistently good here and the prices reasonable for the portion sizes you get. For this visit, my scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, the hash Browns were crispy but not mushy, the sausage patties were cooked just right, and the toast was not burnt. There is usually a wait for a table on the weekends so plan accordingly. If you're in the area or don't want to make breakfast one weekend then come try Pancake Joe's. Be warned you will leave full.

First time at this location. I've only been to the Ingram location. This location was a bit smaller. I was disappointed with the service. They were young girls and didn't have the customer service skills yet. Food didn't disappoint but will say the potatoes this time were too salty

The bear aesthetic is so much fun!…read more My fiancé and I went to Black Bear Diner for a late night dinner about an hour and a half before closing. We were seated quickly and our orders were taken shortly after. Other than ourselves and one other couple in the midst of their meal, the place was empty with one messy table evidence someone else had just left. One staff member came out to bus said table and sweep the dining area while we waited, and the kitchen was bustling loudly while they prepared our order for what felt like a rather long time for a single order. If nothing else, it gave us ample time to check out the dessert and beverage menu. Side note, the menu printed on the inside of their Black Bear Diner 'Newspapers' was pretty cute. Our drinks came out well in advance, and the Hot Chocolate I ordered was pretty yummy. It was sweet and rich, and the thick whipped cream on top was just as tasty. When our order finally came out, it felt worth the wait. My Classic Eggs Benedict was simply amazing and massive in portion. The poached eggs and ham were cooked just right and topped two thick English muffin halves, and the abundant Hollandaise sauce had an excellent zesty kick to it. There was so much of it that I had enough to dip my Sweet Potato Fries in and have even more left over! My fiancé's omelette was pretty good as well, but we both agreed the Eggs Benedict was the better of the two. It didn't help that his Hash Browns were severely overcooked and not worth attempting to eat. I think we'd both like to return but at an earlier hour. Hopefully then our meal will come out faster and without anything burned. Still, it was a delicious enough experience to the extent that we're eager to try more from their menu.

She said the booth needed to be cleaned so we walked to the front to be out of the way. A guy in a purple shirt walked over to the girl and I could tell he was trying to be discreet but I could hear her say that we wanted a more private table. So we went and sat on the bench in front. After that, we were called. No one came to our table. Then some more people came in, they sat them behind us and after seating them, a server came up to ask what they would like to drink. My husband and I looked at each other and decided to leave. Just then an apologetic young man rushed up to the table but it was too late. We were not going to spend our money there. As a white male who was raised the typical southern redneck ways, it seems out of my wheelhouse, it's not. I wish i could give it 5 stars but i just had to dock 1 star for few things. Not to say i won't go back, im just very strict on my ratings. But they can always be changed for next trip. Let's start with food. The omelette was lackluster, very pretty and proper. Yet, i had to pour seasoning on a few times. Still couldn't eat bit 1/4 before throwing in the towel. Literally. I had high expectations knowing what i know about the seasonings black folk put on their food (like i do when i cook too, learned from them) lol I added the sausage just in case the veggie omelette wouldn't have enough flavor kick, but to be honest the sausage was also under seasoned and lackluster. The potato's were EXACTLY what i had expected when i read it was black restaurant. That's the kinda thing i was looking forward too. Strong seasoned!! It was great. Almost like jerk flavored taters I've never been a grits eater, we were raised on meat and taters and eggs for breakfast. Never grits and I'm from the south. I've tried them at several places going to like them but never have, till now, it's still not something i would order, but they tasted pretty amazing. And love the way it was plated and presented. I didn't however like that they poured the grits like they did but all over my toast. I'm picky about foods touching cause I'm a weirdo... but grits and bread just don't match. At all. ALL THIS BEING SAID, BUT I COULDNT TRY THIER BEST DISHES. I cut sugar from my diet 6 months ago and can't bring myself to do it anymore. Even though 99% of their menu has sugar filled items. They all looked so amazing. I seen the other tables get their orders and all i could do was drool. If they ever figure out a way to make some of the bad azz breakfast desert dishes but sugar free, they would have a 4 hour wait daily and reservations only on weekends. In today's times everyone trying to eat much more healthy. Maha!!! How about a sugar free chicken and waffles. Maybe a chicken and waffles but sugar free syrup or honey, idk. I loved the pics on the walls and the suede seats!! And the gold plated spoons forks and knives. Staff was super friendly. There was zero prejudice eyes on me. I felt right at home like everyone else there. That made a big impression as that's not what happened to me when i went to a similar place in Houston. I felt like i was not suppose to be there. Needless to say, I'm going back next week and might even have my very first cheat day in 6 months and have some sugar foods. Gave 4 stars at the beginning, but now after I wrote the whole review. I realized they deserve the five star so I'm changing it right now after next meal there I'll make a decision take that star back or leave it.
