Aubrey our waitress was sunshine on a chaotic Mother's Day breakfast. But Abby the hostess was abysmal. She didn't greet us, had a sour face (was obviously having a bad day) and was the first face we saw coming into this restaurant. I left the restaurant briefly to get something from the car and when I came back in, was greeted with the SAME disapproving scowl on Abby's face. It's enough to make me lose interest and appetite. That's unfortunate because this restaurant seems like such a neat place, the menu items look delicious, and they've gotten good reviews before. I would position Abby in the back of restaurant where she doesn't have to "deal" with customers. Just a suggestion. No. I do not recommend. We came, ordered, took several bites, then paid and left. Did not like the "Joe's Special". Mushy vegetables, as if strained from soup. Meats chewy. Mixed together was not appetizing. Then they put the melted cheese on the two eggs place on top, not on the meat and veg mix, so the eggs were odd to me and not good. Even the toast served cold. Pancakes oddly thin and dry, as if the batter off. Honey chicken biscuit chicken dried out. Really did not enjoy anything we ordered. The restaurant itself has lots of windows so nice and bright. We went on a Sunday afternoon/morning with the family party of 6 the restaurant is kinda small but it didn't matter because it wasn't too busy mainly two seaters but we where sat down right away, menu had a variety of options our server I forgot her name , she was very nice calm collect and gave us plenty of time to review the menu, even making sure we had refills answering any questions and she was very friendly. The boyfriend was craving an omelette so I ordered our breakfast online. It was ready pretty quickly, so I went to pick it up. Staff was very friendly. Got back home to eat. Was disappointed that they put a slice of cheese on top of the omelette instead of shredded cheese inside of it. Also, they put my fruit under my monte cristo instead of separate, so it was warm. Similar to pacakaged/frozen food or just bad diner food. I added a lot of ketchup and hot sauce to make it more palatable. The hashbrown was yummy. The prices are reasonable for things. Finally!!! We were able to try Pancake Joe's, I was joking this place is the other half brother of Trader Joe's. Today I was able to find out what's buzzin' in here. From the outside, the place doesn't really look interesting at all but once you stepped inside, it looks like a regular neighborhood diner that we are used to go to back in NJ/NY. There's not a huge selection on the menu, that's a good thing though, so they can concentrate more on their specialties--pancakes, waffles and everything breakfast. So happy to know we are supporting a mom-and-pop local business, and it's interesting to note that they only have two (2) locations, hope they remain that way so they could be consistent with the quality of food and service. We arrived just at the perfect time around late 9ish in the morning, anytime after that would be crazy. We saw a lot of people waiting to be seated as in a lot when we were leaving. Anyway the whole wheat waffle with fruit I ordered was pretty good and my cousin's original French toast with extra order of sausage was also good. Nothing really extra ordinary but the food we had was prepared-well, doesn't look and taste like fast food at all. There's a lot more choices in the menu that look promising but we need to try it next time when we get another chance. The best part of our breakfast experience this morning is the service that we get from Lizzy. This young lady with a pretty face looked much more beautiful because of her exceptional customer service. She was thoughtful enough to ask if I want a sugar-free syrup...she really went the extra mile with that simple gesture being sensitive to dining customers. She was also prompt and made sure checked-up on us several times if we needed anything else. The quotations hanging close to the ceiling are funny and interesting, it helped create a relax ambiance amidst the busy dining area. The place is not that huge but though it looks old, they make sure they keep it clean as much as they can, we noticed that the lady manager was always on her toes to spot clutters on the floor and at the same time making sure she's coordinating her server for available seats. It was a pleasurable breakfast experience for us, not extraordinary but the food we had was prepared well and fast. Perhaps if we have friends or visitors from out-of-town or out-of-state, we'll bring them here. We were a party of fourteen. Our waitress came to our table right away with menus and took our drink orders. She gave us an adequate time to peruse the menus then came and took our orders. Our food was delivered in a short amount of time. I ordered the Breakfast Special (two pancakes, two eggs and one slice of ham $6.48). Every one enjoyed their food and we will all go back. The eggs were done right (sunny side up) and the rye bread on the side looked and tasted phenomenal with the whipped butter and some jelly. The atmosphere was blah. Could certainly use a solid cleaning. Especially along the windows rails and under the tables. That for me takes a star away, immediately. I can't eat somewhere that I feel is dirty. Everyone doing there best but many just don't know how to clean well. Needs to be taught. Overall, again, pretty decent. Wifey liked her $5.99 house special of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Whenever I Reward myself with a carb day, I make sure to head down to pancake joes and hit up the pancakes and/or waffles. On this occasion however, it was a protein day, so I stuck with the Eggs Plus plate: scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, sausage patties and wheat toast. For such a young staff, the food/service are consistently good here and the prices reasonable for the portion sizes you get. For this visit, my scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, the hash Browns were crispy but not mushy, the sausage patties were cooked just right, and the toast was not burnt. There is usually a wait for a table on the weekends so plan accordingly. If you're in the area or don't want to make breakfast one weekend then come try Pancake Joe's. I normally go to the original Pancake Joe's inside the loop near Jefferson High School and rarely come to the new location near the Ingram Mall. But I came here as a plan B after leaving another restaurant that lacked working AC. When I walked inside Pancake Joe's I was welcomed by a building with a cold and working AC and a hostess. It wasn't crowded inside compared to the last time I wanted to dine here on a super busy and crowded Sunday morning. The building looked like a former Burger King. I recognize the layout and the outside design. I was welcomed by a friendly waiter and he took my order for a glass of ice water, French toast, sausage patties and ham. The ham was good and so were the sausage patties. There was a bottle of Cholula hot sauce at my table so there's no need to ask my waiter for a bottle. The french toast was a tad burnt but was kinda good. I'd recommend it. But avoid coming here on a Sunday unless you don't mind waiting. read more

I don't recommend this one, the wait to get our food was extremely long and it wasn't even crowded . when I opened up my napkin food crumbs fell out around my silverware. I requested a second silverware when I opened it up it had dried egg on the fork so I requested a third silverware, my plate came and I still didn't have a fork waited a few minutes before My Husband had to go up front to get one for me . About five minutes after I got my plate a waitress showed up to give me a fork . They are lacking in cleanliness and service. The menu is so HUGE I mean overwhelming amount of options which in most cases the cooks are also overwhelmed and all over the place. The quality at this location has unfortunately gone way down. To start, they have some kind of plumbing issue going on in the bathroom that seems to be getting worse and now the whole front half of the restaurant has a nasty sewage smell. They've also started skimping on quality ingredients as the food quality has plummeted. I used to love their pancakes but now it tastes like they heat up frozen pancakes and call it a day. The texture is off and they're super dry. The eggs also now taste like they use carton eggs instead of fresh and are also very dry and weirdly textured. Sadly after giving them several chances to improve, I won't be returning. The two stars are for their only saving grace, the staff. They are as lovely as always. We came down to Joes on a Saturday morning & it was bustling with very little wait time. Love & appreciate the lack of pretense & Instagram hype. Our waiter was attentive, personable, and expeditious. The food was exemplary of course. Fluffy Pancakes and crispy waffles both topped with powdered sugar. The fresh coffee, syrup, & hollandaise were flowing and going just as fast. The eggs were kissed by a well seasoned grill and the biscuits were smothered by a layer of gravy as thick as a blanket but more tasty.
