    Bacon Pancakes

I was actually in the area for another restaurant but they weren't gonna open for another hour. Pancake Joe's was near. It served the purpose. The service was good, the food was good and about what you'd expect. I wouldn't wake up and be like I'm going to pancake Joe's but I wasn't disappointed in them as my fallback option. Have no problem with coming back.

Pancake Joe's never disappoints and their hollandaise is die for! We came by for brunch on Saturday so there was a bit of a wait but it went by way faster than quoted. The staff is always nice and friendly which brings together the whole experience! Our server, Aubree B. was a sweetheart and on top of it! My coffee was never empty and made sure to check on us regularly. The floors and tables were clean. Highly recommend!

Aubrey our waitress was sunshine on a chaotic Mother's Day breakfast. But Abby the hostess was abysmal. She didn't greet us, had a sour face (was obviously having a bad day) and was the first face we saw coming into this restaurant. I left the restaurant briefly to get something from the car and when I came back in, was greeted with the SAME disapproving scowl on Abby's face. It's enough to make me lose interest and appetite. That's unfortunate because this restaurant seems like such a neat place, the menu items look delicious, and they've gotten good reviews before. I would position Abby in the back of restaurant where she doesn't have to "deal" with customers. Just a suggestion. I hate for other people to experience the same blatant rudeness in the service industry.

"I absolutely loved the total 80s throwback vibe here! Michael Jackson and New Edition jamming in the background while I devoured some seriously delicious waffles. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, the restrooms were spotlessly clean, and the whole place smelled fresh like Fabulosa the moment you walk in. I'll definitely be coming back--can't wait for my next retro breakfast fix!" I give them 5 stars!

My daughter & I ate breakfast at Pancake Joe's, caught the before noon special and everything was great. The pancakes were the right size, the eggs were fresh, milk good, bacon cold and a little too hard, breakfast sausage was over cooked and my daughter exchanged the sausage for ham. Our waitress was cute, very manner able and a joy to serve our table. RECOMMEDATION: Overall I recommend Pancake Joe's for breakfast.

The boyfriend was craving an omelette so I ordered our breakfast online. It was ready pretty quickly, so I went to pick it up. Staff was very friendly. Got back home to eat. Was disappointed that they put a slice of cheese on top of the omelette instead of shredded cheese inside of it. Also, they put my fruit under my monte cristo instead of separate, so it was warm. The bananas and strawberries weren't fresh, didn't eat them. The food was good, with a few tweaks it could be better.

The service was fast and the servers were very friendly. The food was delicious. It is an old building so expect older tables and booths. We are totally ok with that. We were not fans of the coffee that is why it's 3 stars. We will come again.

I got the eggs Benedict with sausage and hash browns as the side ($11). The eggs Benedict tasted a little off. I think it was either the English muffin or sausage that had a weird aftertaste. Similar to pacakaged/frozen food or just bad diner food. I added a lot of ketchup and hot sauce to make it more palatable. The hashbrown was yummy. The prices are reasonable for things. I tried some gravy and biscuits and those were pretty good! The pancakes look on the thin side. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? The inside is clean. Service was fast!

    A great mom-and-pop breakfast/diner place to try

Finally!!! We were able to try Pancake Joe's, I was joking this place is the other half brother of Trader Joe's. Today I was able to find out what's buzzin' in here. From the outside, the place doesn't really look interesting at all but once you stepped inside, it looks like a regular neighborhood diner that we are used to go to back in NJ/NY. There's not a huge selection on the menu, that's a good thing though, so they can concentrate more on their specialties--pancakes, waffles and everything breakfast. So happy to know we are supporting a mom-and-pop local business, and it's interesting to note that they only have two (2) locations, hope they remain that way so they could be consistent with the quality of food and service. We arrived just at the perfect time around late 9ish in the morning, anytime after that would be crazy. We saw a lot of people waiting to be seated as in a lot when we were leaving. Anyway the whole wheat waffle with fruit I ordered was pretty good and my cousin's original French toast with extra order of sausage was also good. Nothing really extra ordinary but the food we had was prepared-well, doesn't look and taste like fast food at all. There's a lot more choices in the menu that look promising but we need to try it next time when we get another chance. The best part of our breakfast experience this morning is the service that we get from Lizzy. This young lady with a pretty face looked much more beautiful because of her exceptional customer service. She was thoughtful enough to ask if I want a sugar-free syrup...she really went the extra mile with that simple gesture being sensitive to dining customers. She was also prompt and made sure checked-up on us several times if we needed anything else. The quotations hanging close to the ceiling are funny and interesting, it helped create a relax ambiance amidst the busy dining area. The place is not that huge but though it looks old, they make sure they keep it clean as much as they can, we noticed that the lady manager was always on her toes to spot clutters on the floor and at the same time making sure she's coordinating her server for available seats. It was a pleasurable breakfast experience for us, not extraordinary but the food we had was prepared well and fast. Perhaps if we have friends or visitors from out-of-town or out-of-state, we'll bring them here. Just hope the management knows how great Lizzy's customer service is, she's exemplary and needs commendations. Hoping also that the rest of their service staff is like her.

One of those places where the food looks great for an instagram picture but tastes bland. Only took 2 bites out of my food. Ambiance is still the same since opening day, maybe remodel it to something less grey? Service was alright.

We were a party of fourteen. Our waitress came to our table right away with menus and took our drink orders. She gave us an adequate time to peruse the menus then came and took our orders. Our food was delivered in a short amount of time. I ordered the Breakfast Special (two pancakes, two eggs and one slice of ham $6.48). Every one enjoyed their food and we will all go back. There were no charges on our tickets other than our meals and taxes. Great food, great service and great prices!

Joe's is always pretty decent. Today was a tad better than that but at least it's consistently ok rather than super hit or miss. It's more like a first base hit with a double here and there...but never the homer. The service was generally and genuinely friendly, which is a huge plus. That is really why I left the 4/5 and not 3/5. The food though, certainly a 3/5. Overall good flavor but the potatoes were a little underdone. Still packed some flavor though. The eggs were done right (sunny side up) and the rye bread on the side looked and tasted phenomenal with the whipped butter and some jelly. The atmosphere was blah. Could certainly use a solid cleaning. Especially along the windows rails and under the tables. That for me takes a star away, immediately. I can't eat somewhere that I feel is dirty. Everyone doing there best but many just don't know how to clean well. Needs to be taught. Overall, again, pretty decent. Wifey liked her $5.99 house special of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. I guess that was pretty close to a home run there. Or is that Denny's? Whoops. Happy Eats!

FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more Woohoo! Been looking for chili cheese fries and happened upon a review for this place boasting fries with a homemade chili so we HAD TO stop in tonight. THE LOCATION: on the very end of a string of businesses in a strip mall that I've never been in before, so that was cool. Lots of parking, that'll never be an issue. And right off the 410. THE MENU: Burgers, dogs, Mexi-style munchies and a variety of frozen dessert-type items like shakes, frozen fruit concoctions and Italian ice. THE STAFF: I wasn't overwhelmed with a warm welcome and smiles, at least from the guys. Lol! They should really work on that. There was a sweet gal who ran out our food orders and she was great. THE FOOD: I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich deluxe with tots and a sweet tea. The grilled chicken was juicy and cooked well and the bun was lovely, slightly sweet and toasted. Overall, the sandwich could've used more flavor, like a creamy bbq spread and cheddar instead of the "Swiss" cheese that tasted more like American cheese. But overall, 7/10. The tots were extra crispy and the guy who took my order didn't take heed to my request for ranch. I was too lazy to get up again so I settled for ketchup. The sweet tea was nicely sweet and fresh, I'll be sipping this in my dreams. The hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and an Oreo cookie shake. The burger looked good and he ate it quick, so there's that. This guy can EAT so it surprised us both when he slowed down fast after eating that burger. Lol! He kept saying how filling it was, but then he also killed a large shake before the food arrived, so there's that. He ate most of his chili cheese fries, leaving me a few bites to sample. Not bad. I order a Coco Haven frozen dessert to go and omg is this thing delightful! Vanilla ice cream and coconut Italian ice (?) with a blue snow cone-like syrup drizzled throughout. I loved the texture of what I believed to be Italian ice. Smooth and flaky, a perfect icy dessert. OVERALL: decent eatery, the hubby said we can go back (LOL!) Shockerrrrr! But I recommend the staff tries harder to make customers feel welcomed and comfortable. The next visit will be telling.

This place has officially earned a spot in my Top 5 brunch restaurants. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm, welcoming, and felt like you were visiting family. Im a little torn on how to rate 54th Street Scratch Grill & Bar. I didn't dislike it, but I also…read moredidn't leave feeling like I had to come back immediately. Overall, I'd say the atmosphere was the strongest part of the experience. We were staying at a nearby hotel, so being able to walk over was really convenient. We were greeted right away and seated within a few minutes, even though it looked like they were having a busy evening. The restaurant itself has a really fun atmosphere. There's a lot happening... sports memorabilia, photos, decorations, TVs, and plenty of people laughing and enjoying themselves. It has a very lively pub/sports-bar feel without being uncomfortable or overwhelming. I had never been to a 54th Street before, so I enjoyed taking everything in. For dinner, I ordered the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. I chose it because it was one of the dishes I saw recommended over and over again. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment of the meal. The chicken was very thin, extremely overcooked, dry, and difficult to chew. It honestly reminded me more of a basic frozen chicken tender than a freshly prepared piece of chicken. It was covered in white gravy, but the gravy couldn't really save the chicken. Maybe it was just an off night, but based on how highly recommended this dish was, I expected much more. The mashed potatoes were good and the little buttered roll was fine, but neither was particularly memorable. The Brussels sprouts were actually one of the better parts of my meal. They had a sweet glaze and cranberries, with a scoop of a white, cheese-like sauce served alongside them. I'm not completely sure what the sauce was, but the combination was good. My daughter ordered the mac & cheese with bacon crumble. It was a pretty straightforward pasta with a house cheese sauce and bacon on top, but she ate about half of it, so I'd say it was definitely kid-approved. My other kiddo had a simple cheese quesadilla, which was good and exactly what he wanted. We also tried the fried pickles, and those were probably my favorite thing we ordered. The breading was really good, and I liked the seasoning it had a little bit of a spicy kick. A few of the pickles were slightly cold in the center, so they could have used a little more time in the fryer, but overall they were delicious. My only complaint was the very small amount of ranch that came with them. Overall, I think 54th Street has a great atmosphere and a fun, casual environment, but my particular meal didn't really live up to the recommendations I had seen. I'd be willing to come back if I'm ever in San Antonio again and try something different. I don't regret going, and I definitely wouldn't tell someone not to try it. I just wouldn't order the chicken fried chicken again. Maybe I caught them on an off night.
