Visited my friend in San Antonio and this is one of her favorite breakfast spots. I always see pictures of her cinnamon roll pancakes, so I was gearing to gobble some down. It was popping when we got there, so we had about a 25 minute wait. It took them a little while to take our order, but once they did, the food was made and delivered in a timely manner. I, of course, got the cinnamon roll pancakes short stack, and they were absolutely divine. No need for butter or syrup, they were perfectly delicious as is, cinnamon swirl included?!? and icing glaze as well. Another favorite was the chile relleno omelette - the poblano pepper on top added some smokiness along with the steak, and the sour cream and cheese cooled it down. Bacon and canadian bacon on point. I got to see both locations, since I put in the wrong address. They were not busy at all and were kind when I picked up the food. The food wasn't bad, I just feel it was lacking flavor. The waffle and the omelette were both a bit bland. I don't think the shrimp were seasoned much. I did enjoy the biscuit. It was the best aspect of the meal. I was in a rush, but think the experience would have been better if I sat down and got the food fresh. read more

Fairly pedestrian food w poor service. Pancake house yet no maple syrup. They cut many corners and provide low quality product. That said the eggs were cooked perfectly. Sat at the front waiting to be seated and just ignored by three servers. The host was chatting at the rear area w the girls and drinking his beverage while ignoring the door. Finally set myself and ignored further and had to request menu. My server was very pleasant but seemed weeded. Took order delivered good and that's all we got. Surpriser as we had early lunch here. As we pulled up to park it seemed like it wasn't gonna be good yet as soon as we walked in we could tell it was better than we imagined. The server was ok for us but the food was shocking to me. I ordered mine and the first bite of the hash browns were really good but the second I took a bite of my other part of my plate I was mindblown. I have driven past this place probably 500 time's and I've never eaten here until now. I heard alot of good stuff about this place and also saw some great reviews about this place too. Well,now I know why.... Friendly staff members that are energized with getting stuff done and staying very busy with the flow of customers plus demand for food. I sat at the bar area & was able to see & witness the teamwork & staff members taking orders & flinging them out to the tables flawlessly. Having fun while making people happy with the delicious plates and excellent services too. I saw plate after plate of yummy foods going to the tables, and I eagerly awaited my plate. I started with some coffee and then my selection came to me. Boy, what an impressive display & presentation of the food. My server was superb as she recommended several item's and guided me through the HUGE Menu. The Mouthwatering French Toast was Delicious and Uniquely made. Very different looking,very Yummilicious. Some chorizo hash browns was an added delicious combo too. Everything was scrumptious & yummy. I had an enjoyable time and was treated wonderfully by all the staff members, not just my server. I've been here before and it's not been this bad. First my party of large people were sat at a table meant for small people. It was very uncomfortable and almost impossible to eat at the table. I scarfed my food and left for the car while the rest of my party finished. The waiter no where in sight. We hadn't seen him since he took our order. Supposedly my meal came with ham, even though the waiter asked what meat I wanted. I got 1 bite of ham hidden under the egg. The other '"French toast" had no ham. Luckily I had the eggs sitting on top of the bread because there was no egg soaked bread on my plate. At least the hash browns were good, which is not always true at Pancake Joes. I know another of my party members said their gravy was watery this time (last time they raved about the gravy) and another also complained about his lack of French toast even though that was the main dish on his plate. Whoever the cook is back there today is terrible. We'll think twice before coming here again, uncertain we'll want to risk the mediocre food. And the service was terrible, we only gave a tip as a matter of form. Since I've been here before and enjoyed the hash browns this time I gave a three star but this was a 2 star experience. The best thing to say about it is I wasn't grossed out by the food at least. read more

Not sure what happened after the expansion, but this location in no way compares to the Ingram spot. Place is very dark and food is overcooked or stale. Staff was fine; not neglectful but I wouldn't say the service is stellar. Came in during the week, for a late breakfast and was able to get seated immediately. My omelet was very over-cooked, to the point the eggs weren't only dark brown but they also became chewy/rubbery as a result. Biscuit was old and because of the harden stale edges, it was definitely not made same day. Didn't see any point in bringing any of this to the staff's attention because it was very visible how poor quality the plate was and made it through the kitchen, through the server and onto my table. Coffee is good but again barely got a refill due to level of customer attention. I waited several years since my last visit, because that visit was also not great, hoping things had improved. They have not. Not sure if the other location is owned by the same person/family, but I would skip this spot. read more

Was just there today for the first time in 4-5 years. It was on our lunch list for a group of cousins that meet once a month. They have a very extensive menu of breakfast plates as well as sandwiches and salads. I ordered the Spinach Eggs Benedict with hash browns. Interesting, all of the plated photos of this plate with hash browns showed them as nice and crispy but mine were under cooked and barely warm. This was not a deal breaker by any means, just an observation of inconsistency. My eggs were nicely poached and the English muffins crunchy. I decided on patty sausage which was not the best choice, the sausage was very dense and overcooked. The spinach was a nice touch and the lemon hollandaise sauce was fine. Overall it was good but not great. And the coffee was weak and not very good. I'll be back to try something different. read more

There's not an espresso machine but they did have a delicious Cold Brew selection with Vanilla or Carmel. The bill was only $80. something for 4 people and several of us had extra side options... We almost didn't walk in to the place because it's not the best curb appeal but was well worth the visit. The service was the worst it's ever been. You can tell by the number of people that were there. I'm sad because I really liked it there. We use to have to park across the street. The food has gone downhill. Ordered a biscuit and side of gravy, for an up charge, and the biscuit was so hard we could not put a knife through it. My French toast was the same. Burnt on the one side I tried cutting it with a knife, but didn't work. I just ate it because every time we said anything you got the rolling of the eyes, frown and RBF. A great way to spend a Saturday morning!! The service was friendly, they were super packed so we didn't expect anything crazy, but she was tentative to our table and we were sat fairly quickly. The ambiance was nice -- felt very communal. They were sweeping around our tables making sure everything was clean -- something that isn't necessary but you could tell they care about how comfortable the customers are! We ordered the corned beef hash, which came out differently than what I am used to! It's normally just the corned beef, but surprisingly it had some hash browns. It had good flavor! I also got the eggs Benedict, which was good!! It wasn't super hot, but this may just be that I prefer my food steaming lol. The montecristo was delicious -- eggs, melted cheese, over French toast. First of all, it's in a little strip mall and parking is wonky. I managed to snag the spot RIGHT in front of the door, but you might have to park across the street instead. The front door is a little heavy, use some muscle. Inside the service and atmosphere is really just standard diner vibes. It honestly doesn't seem like much, but the food hits the bullseye. I came here to meet friends and demolish a plate of delicious waffles and eggs. Missions accomplished. I ordered a coconut waffle and over easy eggs. Perfectly cooked and the coconut wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. I think I'll get the Pecan Waffle next time. Everyone else I came with said their food was good as well. Not my first visit but Pancake joes is delicious. Went on a Saturday morning before 10am. There was a short wait of 15 mins with maybe 2 parties ahead of us. There are a mix of tables and booths. They have an industrial homey look and looks like they may have painted in the last couple years. The food didn't take too long to come out and there menu hadn't change since I had been there several years ago. I did not like it. As soon as I walked in, the place smelled funky. It smelled old and disgusting, and I would have left had the person I was with not been starving. However, it does not feel clean. I ordered a strawberry cream cheesecake pancake stack, and the egg and potato plate. I got my eggs over easy, and I got the diced potatoes. The eggs were fine, but the potatoes were inedible. They were so soft, oily, and flavorless. I would not get them again. I left them all on my plate. Eggs were standard, and the pancakes were the only thing saving this breakfast, but even they were not above the bare minimum. Service was fine. Waitresses were attentive. There is free parking across the street and limited parking in front of the building. Prices are regular for a cafe. Not that cheap for what you get. 2/10, would not go here again or recommend. read more
