Came to check out the Pancake Pantry during our trip to the Smoky Mountains after reading some great reviews online. We went early (7:30am) to beat the crowds, based on what people said online. We were seated pretty much immediately. Service was very fast and efficient. We ordered the cornmeal pancakes to share (between myself and my fiance). The portion was very large and easily shareable. Great value for what you get as well. They definitely don't skimp on butter and syrup too!! The pancakes were a little more crumbly than I'd prefer, but they had great flavor. The place is big, and can accommodate a lot of parties. Overall, I enjoyed our experience. I'll have to try some other pancakes next time to be able to broaden my review. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! I had some of the BEST crepes of my life here, and I think I'll dream of their pancakes for the rest of my life. We ordered eggs over medium and they were cooked to absolute perfection. The sausage was a little bland for my liking. The servers were delightful and attentive. Our server, Erica, was very kind and even picked up on the fact that we were going to be sharing our food and brought us another plate without having to ask. An absolute must dine restaurant when your in Gatlinburg. The food is excellent, portions are huge and there is definitely something on the menu for everyone. They serve breakfast all day and start lunch at 11 or 11:30. Service is spot on with the timing of everything from seating you, taking orders, food being served and your waitstaff checking in to make sure you have every thing needed. A great percentage of the patrons were requesting to go boxes that just how large the portions are. As large as the restaurant is there can be a wait to get in due to their popularity and reputation widely known. There is plenty of seating with enough spacing between tables that you have a bit of privacy and able to hear each other talk. The fluffiest and best pancakes I've ever had in my life. I'm not even really a sweets person at breakfast, but my friends recommended this restaurant and told me I just had to try the pancakes here. They were so delicious and moist, I barely even needed syrup for it. The staff has the chaos of the large crowd that rushes this restaurant in the morning down to an organized T. Adding a data point. We were here on a busy fall break holiday weekend. We saw the super long lines around 9am daily. We weren't interested. Our last day at 1:20pm there was no line so we decided to check it out. The prices were super reasonable. The service was nice and very southern vibe. More savory pancake choices would be good... It is top notch place for breakfast in downtown Gatlinburg, TN. The service is quick but the wait is rather long and there is no way to reserve or call ahead. Though line is managed differently here than typical. You wait in the line and you get seated from that same line rather than give your name and they keep calling names for people that may or may not be there. The pancakes, omlettes and coffee were all great. Though we wish they offered fruit or fresh berries on pancakes than compotes which are basically sugar jam. The ambiance is that of log cabin as is common in Gatlinburg breakfast places. There is $2/hour parking nearby (there is only one in the entire downtown). The decor had a friendly cozy vibe. Definitely a pancake house. We had excellent service. We were lucky to be able to walk right in and get seated. The food was solidly good. My kiddo enjoyed the kids special...silver dollar sized pancakes so we shared some of the buttermilk pancakes. The omelet my husband got came with 3 buttermilk pancakes and they were good. LOVED this place. It's right on the main road of Gatlinburg, and has an "old school" look. Plenty of seating inside and the food is suuuper tasty - I got the peach delight crepes and they really hit the spot. Prices aren't bad either, I was full with the crepes and a side of 2 eggs and my total with tip etc was only like $21? Very reasonable for lunch. The staff was also helpful and friendly! Bathrooms weren't anything fancy but clean enough (they're up the stairs right at the entrance on the left). What can I say about at Gatlinburg staple? It's been several years since I've been here and the menu remains pretty much the same. Here's a few things I wish I would've asked before ordering. How many pieces of toast come with the kids order. There are two huge pieces. Since I got this with a side of bacon, I wish I would've split it with my daughter. How many pancakes come with the Swiss chocolate? It was either 4 or 5. The serving sizes are CRAZY and quite honestly, can all be split. I'm not cheap by any means but we ordered 3 side of bacon, again not knowing you get 4 slices with each serving and they were $5 each side because the meals don't come with sides. That is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. Prices aren't bad, food tastes like it did 10 years ago. The place is still as crowded as ever but our server was super sweet and very quick. Side note, it may just be the time of year but we didn't wait at all for a table. We've not had to all week which just amazes me. My first time eating here but the gals I was with had been here before. It must be super popular because we stood a in line that started behind the restaurant along a line of shops. There are a few benches along the way if you are with people who cannot stand for long periods of time. Having said that, the line moved fairly quickly, I would say it took us 25 minutes to get to the front of the line. Inside is spacious and has large tables for bigger groups (we had six in ours). I ordered the Morning Star and a coffee. Morning Star: hash browns with eggs, ham pieces, and sauteed veggies on top and three pancakes. You would think the hash brown/ egg/ veggie combo would be the "star" but no - it was surprisingly bland. I added hot sauce and pepper and it didn't help much so I left a lot of it on the plate. However the pancakes were fantastic. They were fluffy and tender - add the butter and maple syrup and it was bite after bite of heaven. This place was busy so be prepared to wait on weekends at least. Also, there is no parking right at the restaurant, you will need to find a pay to park lot for shorter walking or park down the road a bit. read more

This iconic Tennessee staple was a lot closer to 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. The line is super long, but moves relatively quickly for a busy, weekend brunch. As expected, the pancakes and waffles are fantastic. The main issue is all the toppings. They are extremely over the top and so sweet, that it overpowers everything else. The base pancake is so good, so it's best to get something that actually allows you to take it. All savory breakfast items were solid, but nothing too crazy. read more

This is by far my favorite place to eat in Gatlinburg been going here for more years then I can remember since my childhood all the way into adult hood. Yet every time I learn something knew. Like to today our server Morgan suggested I use honey on my corn cakes... game changer so so good. No matter your choice you will love your meal. They used to come around every 5 seconds to fill your coffee cup. In recent years, they have backed off on that. They used to have warm cream in a container and now they have single served. We stumbled into Pancake Pantry, completely unaware of its massive popularity! On our way into GSMNP, we were looking for a place to grab coffee/breakfast, and happened to find street parking in front of Pancake Pantry just as they were opening. Seeing all the people inside, we decided to give it a shot, since most of the coffee shops around weren't even open yet. We got seated at 7:05 and by 7:15, there was a line out the door. By 7:40, the line was wrapping around the building! The restaurant was spacious, with the ambiance of a cozy ski lodge. We ordered coffee right away, and I got the Marvelous Blintz. Service was friendly and super fast - they're great at turning over tables quickly! The Marvelous Blintz were pretty good, but the ricotta-cream cheese filling was a little too sweet for me. I did like how thin the blintz pancakes were though. My friend enjoyed her Western Omelette as well, and were out the door in under 45 minutes. The service is always quick and friendly. Even if there is a line to get into the restaurant, which is very likely, especially if you arrive after about 9:30 or so, it moves pretty quickly. I cannot repeat this enough also, do not skip the coffee! They have the best coffee in town! I am a huge lover of their crepes. My absolute favorite are the peach delight crepes. When I was in Gatlinburg a couple of weeks ago I was told I needed to try out the pancake houses they had out here and man did they have a lot! You guys recommended so many I literally had to look up and research all of them and settle on one. Ultimately at the end we chose Pancake Pantry. Simply because I could get a waffle and the bacon looked better. When we got here the line was down the street but we ended up getting in fairly quickly. The workers were quick and very nice. We got seated right next to the kitchen and I enjoyed watching everyone cook like a well oiled machine! As you can see I ordered sausage, a waffle, and eggs. Honestly I was shocked I ended up getting three sausage patties. Most places only give you the standard two and sometimes even only just one. The sausage had great flavor but was a bit dry. I think they use a leaner meat. I do also wish it had a bit more color to it. I like my sausage slightly burnt. But still good easy 7/10 The waffle was really good it may look flat but it was actually decently fluffy. It had a sweetness to it where you didn't need syrup. I will say I'm glad I had water because this thing sucked all the moisture out of my mouth. But it was worth it. 8/10 The eggs were awful. Idk if they were fresh eggs or not but it didn't taste like it. It tasted like those liquid bag eggs. I couldn't eat it after one bite. Texture was off and everything. 1/10 All in all this place was good and I would definitely go back without question. If you're ever in Gatlinburg, TN check this place out! Oh and if you get the chance to see it. They keep this huge bowl of whipped butter like a freaking mountain just sitting out. So enjoyed this place for breakfast. There's normally a long line, however, we did not encounter that today. The wait we did have was fast and we were seated fairly quickly. The service was wonderful southern hospitality and our food for 5 came quick. Everything was cooked to our liking and very delicious. They are know for pancakes, but we had pancakes, waffles, and crepes, and they all were delish. The hours are only until 3pm, but the serve breakfast until then. Lunch menu started at 11:30am.
