First time here and I loved it. Quiet and cozy atmosphere, delicious food. Waitress was so nice and sweet. Definitely coming back for more yummy food

10/18/24 Let's give Montclair bkft places a try, shall we? Probably a local favorite?

10/18/24 Local favorite hits the spot! Curiously, this pancake place has been on my bookmarked list, so today is the day! Breakfast is my mojo-go-to meal & it's a bonus since it's very close to home. At 10:15 am, Friday, it was not too busy, we must've missed the morning rush. It definitely looks like a locals' hangout the way the servers were chatting with the patrons. We were promptly greeted by Audrey at the front & seated immediately. In no time, our server, Claudia also greeted us & offered beverages to start. I was willing to take a gamble and order a coffee to see how they stack up to most places. I usually judge diners or restaurant according to the coffee that they serve. Surprisingly, it was decent. I couldn't decide but Hubby honed in on the (Supreme Stuffed) crepes-great choice coz then I get to sample his meal. Finally ordered the Bacon Skillet which is accompanied with home potatoes & cheddar & 2 fluff butter milk pancakes. In about 15 minutes our hot meals arrived. It's my preference when it states "skillet", I would expect it would be served in an actual/real cast iron skillet. That's probably too much to ask for but the tastiness of my Bacon Skillet won me over--it's the potatoes!!! So good! Perfectly seasoned & cooked, fried the way I like 'em. With every bite, I was just ooh & ahh all around for the potatoes. The bacon was pretty good, could've been crispier though. Hubby thought his crepes were pretty great , good portion. Fortunately, the skillet satisfied my appetite because when I finally tried the pancakes, I was not as thrilled. Yes, "light & fluffy" but nothing spectacular. Perhaps it is my preference for moist with a slight chewiness kind of pancake that didn't meet my criteria. Secretly, I was hoping to find lemon ricotta pancakes on their menu. No such luck. Overall it was a wonderful bkft. Never saw the bottom of my coffee cup, thanks to Lulu. Seniors & military receive 10% discount according to their sign. I love their indoor atrium that receive sunlight for those cold days, otherwise it's fairly comfortable climate indoors. Parking is free & shared among other businesses. Hubby & I are glad we finally had the chance to dine at Pancakes R Us.

I went there solo to try after I've been to the one on Pomona. It's just as good experience as the other one. I ordered one with the meat lovers but nice server let me just have bacon and sausage and asked hash brown extra crispy, eggs over medium and extra. I like the food though bill came to over $20.00 with Diet Pepsi; and they still have boysenberry syrup along w/ strawberry, blueberry and regular maple syrups.

Bring your DAYUM COAT!! We went in this past Sunday morning just after they opened... we sat at the counter, at first they wanted us to sit in the booth directly next to the front door... it was to dang cold to be sitting there so I asked if we could go further into the restaurant. I was with the grand babies and they decided on sitting at the counter. We dayum near froze to death! When I asked the server if the heat was on she gave me a bit of a snarky look then said "No" LOOK NOW I am having hot flashes myself but I tell you WHAT THO! it was cold in that place. Then she further says that I am the only one complaining about the temperature... (oh NO SHE DIDN'T!!!) then I looked at her as if to say "Did you REALLY just say that to me???" anyhoo I then told her to look at the other guests in the restaurant ERY'one of them had their coats on! PLEASE! (mumbling to myself) she gonna TELLLLL me that I am the only one complaining yet all her customers are bundled up trying to eat breakfast! PFFT! The kids loved the hot chocolate and the pancakes were a bit tough/hard says the 7 year old - they didn't eat them. They did however enjoy the bacon! Also the corned beef hash has plenty of bell peppers if that is your jam, it's not mine. I'm one and done for this location. UPDATE: Spoke with the Manager and they confirmed the heater NOR the air conditioner is used. Swamp cooler in the summer and no heat in the winter. Due to some customers complaining about it being 'to warm'. So buyer/diner beware dress warmly on a cold day. Respectfully Reviewed

Killer food. Chilaquiles are way too spicy. everything else was absolutely on point. Im country and they nailed it. Also the wait staff was pretty chill about sending back the spicy cilaquiles. i highly reccommend the country fried steak. the placed was also not very crowded in a tuesday morning/afternoon. good atmosphere.

Pancakes R us???? You've been mistaken, Pancakes are gone. When i sat down I wasn't sure if they handed me a menu or the Shakespeare novel of flavor. After my first bite I wasn't sure if I was heaven or if I was in the booth of this fine establishment. Prime Iron Mike Tyson couldn't hit as hard as these hot cakes. After the meal I almost asked to chef to remove his hat just to check if Remi from Ratatouille wasn't chilling under there. 10/10

For 8:30 am on a Saturday morning, this place was quite busy and the flow of customers did not stop the entire time we were there. There was plenty of parking in front and to the side of the cafe, as it is at the end of the strip mall. The display case of baked good intrigued me and I was divided between the Banana Bread and another item but after asking the cashier, he also suggested the Banana Bread. Since it was my first visit, I tend to purchase a bit more to enjoy later as I am unsure if I'll get the chance to stop by again. Banana Bread (pass) $5.75 When trying the Banana Bread later that afternoon, it was dry and not very delicious. We bake better Banana Bread at home, so it was not worth the $5.75. Kevin's Breakfast Sando w/ country potatoes $14.95 Grilled sourdough, prosciutto, pesto, garlic, mayo, provolone, arugula, and fried egg w/ tots, country potatoes, fries, or side salad From the Yelp reviews, I knew I had to try Kevin's Breakfast Sando and I ordered it with Country Potatoes, but the Country Potatoes do not include onions or bell peppers. It's like a "take" on country potatoes but not exactly country potatoes. I still enjoyed them nonetheless as country potatoes are my go to, but no one would also ever go wrong with tots! The Sando was delicious, but a bit tad salty for me, but I would most definitely order it again. 12 oz Black Eye $5 2 shots of espresso in drip coffee Since I am not normally awake this early on a weekend, I was needing caffeine more than ever, and I was very pleased to see Black Eye on the menu. I do not often, if ever, order Black Eye so I had to ask the cashier what it was and when they said it was espresso in coffee, I was sold! All the food and drinks were served on/in disposable containers, which from reviews, it seems like they started doing that since covid and have continued to do so. Service is interesting but overall nothing to complain about. One orders at the counter and they call your order for you to pick-up but with the acoustics in the restaurant, one may not hear their order being called. Sometimes an employee would bring a drink or so around to the customer if they did not hear their order being called, which was nice because it could get quite noisy on the inside. This is most definitely a family-oriented restaurant and I love see people of all ages enjoy time together, especially over breakfast. I love breakfast food, it just brings a sense of peace as we begin our day and what better way than to enjoy the food and company!

I remembered this because Iron Skillet has got to be the fastest on the draw in terms of keeping you coffee topped off. I counted in the first fifteen minutes I was there, I had my coffee refilled four times and probably eight times in the span of the forty-five minutes I was there. The only slowdown I saw was when they dropped off the bill. Suddenly after that no one was checking on me to see if I needed more coffee. I guess they figured that I had had enough and were cutting me off. That's a mistake because as long as I'm sitting at breakfast I'm going to want coffee. The second thing I noticed was they have a damn good skillet program here, especially if want to experiment with creating your own. It was something like $15.50 to put in three mix-ins for your skillet, but only $1.50 to make the mix-ins unlimited. This time I kept it simple--sausage, ham, green peppers, and onions along with customary cheddar and three eggs--but next time I'm going to experiment a little. The skillet itself was amazing. The portion was generous, the produce was fresh, and the eggs were super runny. It really is in contention for the best traditional skillet I've ever had. The other thing that could've put it in the running for best skillet overall is if they had some exotic offerings for protein like I've had elsewhere in the country like elk, smoked pulled pork, duck, walleye, or even rabbit. Skillets are good, but skillets with like an animal you don't normally see for breakfast is amazing. I'm still on the lookout for my goat skillet. The service, as aforementioned, was impeccable. The coffee refills is the main thing I complain about other breakfast joints and here I never even had a thought to getting upset regarding that for the first portion of the meal. My only critique as you may have guessed is to continue that generosity and initiative for the whole meal. I really want me to toy with breaking double digits with the amount of coffee refills I receive during a meal. And that's only going to happen if you continue to ask me after you drop off the bill. The ambience is good. It looks like a diner. It quacks like a diner. It's a diner. I felt right at home here with all that space and mix of booths, tables, and counter space. I'm definitely planning my trip back here for that superb Build-a-Skillet and that fantastic attention to keeping the coffee overflowing in my mug.

The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, which made the meal even more enjoyable. There is a large seating area and plenty of room even during a busy breakfast rush. They've got indoor and outdoor seating and they seemed a touch understaffed for being a beautiful day. It was also a Tuesday lunchtime so maybe they weren't expecting it to be as busy as it was. We were able to prove the menu before we got seated. And our super friendly server came out and we were able to order right away. They've got a lunch special. That is a small personal pizza with a salad and we each got that. Salads came out first and I had the arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. 10 of 10 would eat this every single day. The arugula was peppery and it was well dressed in a lemon vinaigrette type sauce. I am a fan of just plain lemon on mine, but this was delicious. My husband got a union salad, which is their specialty I guess. It's got colored carrots and some beets and some shallots. I thought the dressing was bland and it certainly needed salt and pepper. We asked for both and didn't get either. Our pieces came out and they were nice and woodfired. I feel like they could've been done just a little bit longer maybe a minute or two. The sauce was a lovely fresh type crushed tomato sauce. The cheese was nice and gooey and did not feel or taste like a package of processed cheese. Pepperonis were greasy, but in a real meat kind of way. I had to dab mine, but my husband just went to town on his. The pickled peppers is a pickled jalapeño. Big chunks of them. They certainly didn't skimp on any of the toppings. They were a little sweet and a little hot. Some of the big chunks were a little too sweet for my liking but overall, it was a nice flavor mix Also from a size standpoint, I thought the salad and pizza were very adequate for lunch at around $20 price point I asked for salt and pepper again as well as a side of ranch. This time we did get the salt and pepper as well as cheese and crushed red pepper. But we didn't get the ranch until we were leaving. The server did apologize and said he thought someone else was bringing it out but I pretty much deducted a star because we asked for a couple different things that never came. Overall, the service was super friendly, the ambience was nice for an outdoor lunch thought. I thought the menu looked delicious and there were several things I would like to come back and try and I would go back again.
