I came here and was super excited. I got the Californian omelette and it was just ok. 7/10 Previously I also had their classic eggs Benedict and their avocado toast. 7/10 Ambiance is nice. It was busy the day my family and I went. The service was mediocre and never came back. But I'm thinking of giving it another shot and try all the other many things they have on their extensive menu and I'll update. read more

I'm officially done with this restaurant. As a former waitress, I always try to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt because I know things can go wrong. Unfortunately, this place has been consistently disappointing. We always order our kids' meals as soon as we sit down, along with our drinks, because we know little ones don't like to wait. This is now the second time our children's food (oatmeal and chicken nuggets) has come out after two adult meals. When I asked about it, our server simply said something happened to the first batch. The issue isn't that there was a mistake--it happens. The issue is that no one communicated with us. Good service would have been coming to our table, explaining there was a delay, and letting us know they had to remake the food. Instead, we sat there for nearly 40 minutes wondering where two very simple kids' meals were while our toddlers became increasingly hungry and upset. Once my kids reached the point of melting down, I went to ask for our adult meals to be boxed up because I didn't want to be the family with two crying children disrupting everyone else's meal. Our food was brought out with to-go containers, but we still had no clear answer about when the kids' food would be ready. In the end, we paid for our meals and left. Not once did a manager come by to apologize or check on the situation. The food itself is decent, but it simply isn't worth the long wait, poor communication, or high prices. Save yourself the frustration and dine somewhere that values both your time and your family's experience. read more

Been to other locations in the past and met up with a friend here today. In one word... yuck! The eggs were rubbery, the salmon in the avocado toast brown and the potatoes in both dishes we ordered severely undercooked. I do have to say the bacon was good!this was the only thing decent. Our server was "nice" but not attentive. We had better service from the other servers. It's loud in here and it seems like there is no one in charge. Came in on a Friday at 12:30 for a last minute brunch with my friend, party of two! We waited about 10 minutes and were seated on a cozy corner of the back of the restaurant. Our server was friendly and moved quickly to bring out our drink orders. Cappuccino was delicious and the mimosa flight got our morning started right! The grapefruit mimosa felt a little bitter, but I personally don't enjoy grapefruit in general. Otherwise the flight was refreshing. Both of the Benedict's had great flavor and full of toppings. When I finally got my order, it was incorrect and I came one time before as well and they got it wrong as well. With that being said, the presentation isn't that good either, it looks like food I would make at home. I've been to other breakfast places that were cheaper and the food looked so good on pictures AND in real life. I ended up getting my bill and they charged me extra for items that were already included in the meal. So they get my order wrong and charge me extra andddd it doesn't look too great. We joined a couple of friends at this location a couple of days ago. Hopefully it was just this location, otherwise its a sad commentary on this chain. I ordered the American breakfast. I asked for poached eggs, bacon, home fries and blueberry muffin along with an iced tea. The eggs were rubbery and lacked any taste at all. The bacon was probably the best item. The potatoes were also of a rubbery consistency and the blueberry muffin was average not spectatular. All in all, I will not be returning. Service was great! Food could be better.. We've been here a couple times and the desserts/skillets seem to be the best. Then the omelette and then the benedicts. Not too happy with the two choice benedict's I got where you can pick two. The salmon one barely had salmon--maybe I'm just spoiled by other places but the salmon was little and tasted very... off. I will say the Golden State Benedict was better by miles. It was loaded with bacon and avocado! The skillet and omelette were good and did the job of filling up our stomachs but they weren't really flavorful. If anything the skillet was the best. Finally we had dessert which I feel like is their best. We got the trio to sample and it was a good choice to split amongst our group. Amazing Breakfast, Incredible Value & Outstanding Service! We had an absolutely fantastic experience at the Broken Yolk Café in La Verne! Jasmine, our server, was friendly, patient, and super attentive--she made our big family breakfast easy and enjoyable from start to finish. We were a group of six--three adults and three kids--and everything we ordered was delicious. The Ranchero Skillet was an absolute winner: perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and super satisfying. The chilaquiles (the Spanish-style breakfast with tortilla chips, eggs, and sauce) weren't far behind--savory, comforting, and done just right. One of the adults ordered a Bloody Mary flight (which was so fun!) and shared two entrées instead of ordering a full meal, and even with drinks and food for six people, our entire bill came to just $100. The only item we did not care for was the Snickerdoodle iced coffee- that was more like cinnamon milk. Service was great. Place is great for families. These are basic things a restaurant should get right. We may give them another chance because the food has potential, but they seriously need to fix their posted hours and improve order accuracy. Right now, the inconsistency outweighs the positives.

Service was also kind of average. The servers were friendly and did check on us, but they seemed a little overloaded and stretched thin trying to do too many things at once. On a previous visit, service was a little slow and we had to ask for coffee a few times. One small thing that oddly kind of took away from the experience was the ketchup situation. They use tiny ketchup packets instead of bottles, so if you actually want ketchup for your potatoes or eggs you end up opening a bunch of little packets just to get enough on your plate. It just felt a little strange considering they have full-size Tabasco bottles on the tables. The bigger issue for me was the value. For two people, breakfast came out to around $42 before drinks, and the portions weren't especially large. Compared to somewhere like Black Bear Diner where you can split a huge chicken fried steak breakfast and still spend significantly less even with coffee, it just didn't feel worth the price to me. I'm not saying the place is bad, some menu items are probably better than others, but based on what I ordered, I thought it was a little overpriced for food that was mostly just okay, and kinf of bland (no salt or flavor). My advice would be to choose carefully off the menu.

Now everything is served on eco-friendly paper plates with paper cups and plastic utensils, giving the entire experience the feel of a fast-food establishment. After ordering, they take your name and call it out when your food is ready. Some customers had their food brought to the table while others had to pick it up themselves, so the service felt inconsistent and disorganized. The food itself was just okay, but the portions were poorly balanced. Half the plate was buried under tater tots or potatoes, which seemed completely unnecessary and likely results in a tremendous amount of food being thrown away. The oversized pile of potatoes also overwhelmed the actual meal. The presentation didn't help. Being served on paper plates made the experience feel more like eating at a backyard barbecue or buffet than dining at a restaurant. Between the cafeteria-style ordering, disposable tableware, and uninspired presentation, the overall experience felt cheap and was not worth the price.

And then I just mix them up for the last five to eight bites. It's heavenly, combining the best parts of the breakfast into a mash that is more delicious than its individual components. I call it the Grand Finale. And I've done it all across the country in dozens of cities in hundreds of restaurants for decades now. But it takes really good runny and sunny eggs that haven't been overdone or else the ten to twenty minutes of eating everything before the Grand Finale is just going to leave the eggs hard and unusable. It also takes some good meat that not only will be flavorful on their own but also blend well with the mush. And lastly, it takes a good set of hash browns that isn't overly crispy or overly mushy. Roberta's Village Inn has all of that and more. That was one of the best Grand Finales I've had in years. Usually I don't do it with gravy because the country gravy tends to overpower everything else. But the country-fried steak with gravy didn't do that at all. It blended right in with all the other tastes. So too did the eggs remain remarkably running, all the better to be mixed at the end. And, of course, the thin-cut hash browns was plentiful, seasoned (by me), and, mostly importantly, crispy enough on top and bottom, while remaining soft (but not mushy) within. It was the Perfect Storm of a Grand Finale. The service was great. My server took extra care of me, even when I made the mistake of not noticing the food joint was cash only. I took it all in stride. She not only checked on my just frequent enough but was extra helpful in getting me refills, to-go containers, and the check when it was appropriate. The mood and style of the place was classic diner and I dug it. All ever want is a place to chill in with good food, that isn't overly pressured to kick you out for turnover sake. I was about to say it's kind of a small dining room, but when I went to the ATM I saw they have a whole other dining room that must be for when the place starts jumping for the breakfast rush. I'm assuming that's their busiest time judging by how memorable my breakfast plate was tonight. Overall, I already want to come back during breakfast hours and witness the majesty and awesomeness of this food joint when it's fully operation. I usually frequent the Broken Yolk in Rancho Cucamonga, but today I decided to try the La Verne location while I was in the area--and I'm so glad I did! We used Yelp to join the waitlist ahead of time, and it worked out perfectly. By the time we arrived, we waited only about five minutes before being seated. The service was prompt, as we were greeted by our waitress shortly after sitting down. I started with a coffee and a flight of mimosas, which was a fantastic way to kick off the morning. The mimosa flight included pomegranate, orange, lemonade, and grapefruit flavors--all refreshing and delicious. For my main dish, I ordered the chicken and waffle Benedict, and I have to say, it exceeded my expectations. The combination of flavors was spot on, and adding a drizzle of syrup on top was the perfect finishing touch. The food, beverages, and attentive service made this breakfast exceptional. I had a really disappointing experience at this breakfast spot. When I walked in and told the hostess my party size (8 people), he immediately widened his eyes and looked visibly annoyed. I confirmed the number, and he told us it would be about a 30-minute wait, which we were totally fine with. After waiting patiently, we got close to being next in line--only to suddenly be removed from the waitlist without any notification (which they usually send). When I asked what happened, the staff seemed confused, disorganized, and honestly annoyed that I even asked. There was no clear explanation, no apology, and no effort to fix the situation. Overall, the service was unprofessional and poorly managed. I would not recommend this place based on the experience alone. i had to sign up on yelp just to report my terrible experience at this location. i came in yesterday to give this place a try, but in my 50 plus years dining around this city... it was the worst experience i have ever had. I sat at the counter to have a quite meal alone, but to only hear the female employees complain about other employees not doing their job. Very UNPROFESSIONAL! and they did this for a good 15 minutes knowing i am dining right next to them chatting. I wanted to pay for my meal, my server was no where to be found. No management in sight. I've been to other Broken Yolk Cafe's before and I have enjoyed my dining experiences and food, but today we went and I was a little disappointed. I got the avocado toast and it was so flavorless, it was hard to eat. I can't say I enjoyed one bite of it. Also I ordered an espresso, which was listed at $6 and then added oat milk and syrup for an extra charge. When the bill came, the server charged me for a latte ($7.25) plus the add ins at $1.25 each. I paid $9.25 for that and it was not great in taste either. The servers were great and attentive. The atmosphere was cold, make sure you take a sweater. If I can give this location 0 stars I would , the way that William doesn't like black people sitting in his section and yelling at the host about it is so disgusting. I will never eat here again because of this and I have been trying to contact the BBB about what Juan allows within his employees as far as sexual harssment , no wonder why he got fired from his last job !! SOMEONE PLS HELP !! This is such a hostile work environment and they need better management poor employees ! I call the store asking for owners number but manger jasmine hesitates all the time. We stopped by on a lazy Saturday morning and were excited to try their brunch menu. The Bloody Mary flights were a letdown, unfortunately - they were bitter and lacked any real flavor. The Sopes Benedict was also a miss, with the meat somehow losing its flavor during cooking and leaving a weird, watery taste. But the egg omelets were a highlight - hearty and packed with flavor.
