I went to have lunch with my 3yr old daughter and we sat down before two other people. Someone went over to the other table and took their order and brought them drinks and then water and tea were dropped off at our table but we were never spoken to. We then sat there for another 5-10 minutes while the other table was waited on. We were completely ignored, 2 different servers walked by our table 3 different times and never acknowledge our presence. We have been wanting to try this place for awhile and decided to last night. We were the only ones in there for awhile. We ordered egg rolls and soup which were just ok. There was a black hair in those crispy chips they give you and they took them away with no apology! Our entrees came and they gave my kung pao chicken to my husband and sat something in front of me...we both looked at our plates with confusion so we called the waiter over and he said my husband had mine so he switched the plates then my husband asks, this is orange chicken and he replied, oh no and scoops it up quickly as my husband is trying to tell him he had already tasted it. They did bring him what he ordered a few minutes later and it was just ok. The customer service had a lot to be desired and the food wasn't that great. We won't be back! read more

Well unfortunately PC has changed hands and not for the better. Just learned after visiting PC for dinner that the restaurant changed ownership about 7 months ago. My friend and I ordered our past favorites of Lemon chicken and Wor wonton. Neither one tasted like the title. We were graciously given some fried noodles to munch on and we went to pour the hot mustard that shot out like yellow water and had no taste. we then asked for the mustard and they said that the yellow water in the bottle was it. We told them it was water and then they brought out the real stuff. The Lemon Chicken was nothing like it's name implies . It was to be kind,,, not edible. The wonton was nothing more than some uncooked veggies tossed into weak broth. About an hour later my friend came down with upset stomach and the runs. If you feel the need for some good Chinese , avoid this place. Sad to see another good restaurant go down. Hope this is a wake up call for them. And that they do not water down the sauces in future and maybe even hire back the cook who put out some good Chinese food. read more

I have to say that House Special Shrimp and Panda Country Beef are the best two Chinese dishes I've ever had. And the cream cheese wontons are better here than most places. I go out to Chinese food often but I think Panda Country has them all beat. My husband refuses to go anywhere else now. All of the servers that I've had are especially nice. The food does take a little longer than some but it's worth the wait. Take out is awesome but your portions are bigger if you dine in. read more

Good food, terrible service. The waitress came a couple of minutes after we sat down with my family and asked what we would like to drink. I replied, I'm okay with water, THEN SHE WALKED AWAY WITHOUT ASKING ANYONE ELSE! Also, sort of an uncomfortable environment due to the workers always yelling at each other across the restaurant. We had to wait 5 minutes to get more rice because they were too busy talking about other things. But, their food is really good! The cashew chicken and crispy duck are hands down amazing along with the broccoli beef and panda country soft noodles. This place has some dishes that are just okay but if you go with someone who knows the menu you can't lose. The service is great, and they are pretty consistent. This was me and my family's favorite restaurant since we moved here (over 10 years ago), it underwent a change of ownership but they said the actual food would not change, IT DID. The quality of the food is so much lower now, the egg rolls are chewy when they used to be crispy and delicious :(( they also have noodles that are far below the standards for this place. It's sad because this used to be the best Chinese food place in the area and now you're better off with Panda Express. After a busy day, we decided to get some good Chinese food and went in and found all new employees, a new décor, and new tasteless food. Would give 0 stars if possible. Eaten there once before and the service was sub par and not very helpful. An older asian guy who worked there was rude and very abrupt. Fast forward to yesterday, called ahead to see what dishes they had that were all white meat chicken, the girl on the phone said that I could substitute any dish with all white meat chicken for an extra 2 dollars, good news, so we headed down to pick up some Chinese food. When we get there I see the old asian guy again, we tell him we want the sweet and sour chicken but with all white meat. All he says is "no". I said that I called ahead and asked and they said it was possible. He just sAid "no the sweet and sour chicken already made." He made no effort to even offer us something that had white meat chicken, he just said "do you want or no?". I would not recommend giving this place your money, they obviously don't need it because making customers happy seems to be secondary to this place. 0 stars, horrible service, average food. read more

My husband and I have been going to the Panda Country Restaurant for a few years. The food has always been delicious and the service has been great so we were sad to hear that it was sold. Being that we have enjoyed everything about Panda Country, food, service and atmosphere we decided to try it under the new ownership and we are very happy to say that the food is still delicious, the quality is great, the service has been exceptional, and the atmosphere is still very relaxing and peaceful. yum! i love this place. i started working in santee almost a year ago and i must say that you don't find a lot of variety when it comes to take outs and restaurants around this area. panda country is a definite good alternative to the panda express that is in the shopping center a few minutes away. the staff here has always been friendly and place is reasonably priced...definitely get the panda noodles if you're in a rush and need a quick fix of chinese. haven't tried their sizzling rice soup but mm-mm hope to do so soon! read more

Let's start with......don't get your hopes up. I've grown up in Santee and so when it comes to asian food, if you don't want to go the Panda Express route you're almost forced to end up at Panda Country. The service is mediocre, but not bad. What gets me and what gives it a 3-star count is the taste/quality of the food. The fried rice is hardly that, while the overpriced "specials" are nothing to yelp about.....You can get some decently priced lunch but for the taste of the food (which isn't horrible, but not impressive) I would recommend somewhere else. You can easily spend $10-$12 dollars a person and not be impressed with your food. As for quantity, at least in that area they do well. 2 people can split an entree and be ok, especially because theyll give you as much rice as you want. I have to give kudos to the physical upgrades made by new owner but, sadly, they have changed their recipes. The food is not bad but nothing distinguishes it from any other Chinese restaurant in the region. They used to have the best Kung Pao recipes around. Now just average. I have eaten here since 1998. The previous owners and staff were great. The food was wonderful. The wait staff got to know you and knew what you liked. About a year ago the restaurant changed owners and that's when the food and service started going down hill. We ate there again yesterday in hopes that the food might be getting better but NO, it's not. They changed the ingredients in the Hot & Sour Soup, the House Special Chicken tastes different, nothing tastes the same. It was two of us eating yesterday. After our soup and egg roll, they brought my entrée. I waited for them to bring the other entrée out before I started eating mine but they finally brought her entrée 10 minutes later. Not acceptable. I don't care if you have to remake the 1st entrée again, but you bring out all the entrees at the same time. Unfortunately, this will be the last time we eat here. We been coming in for many years. Less and less over time, but tonight was the last trip in. I ordered for take out, chicken chow mein with white rice, my husband had broccoli beef, which he said" hit the spot" We also got large egg flower soup. The chow mein would have been great had I not ordered the chicken. It was all leg meat ct up. every bite was grizzled and trying to chew it made me sick to my stomach. I started picking it out for the dog. The pile I had was disgusting to look at. I remember when they used tender slices of breast. No more. I think a trip to Pick up Stix is a much better buy.
