Do not be put off by the silly name or the outward appearance. For a small city far from concentrations of Asian food, this is a seriously good Chinese restaurant. In addition to the basics, which were fresh and hot, with vegetables cooked just right, we also had sesame tofu, which was outstanding, the ginger sliced beef and an asparagus special..all very good. We had a big party , so we ordered nearly everything on the menu and it was served very quickly. Great welcoming vibe. This is my favorite chinese joint in all of kzoo and portage. I drive from schoolcraft every Sunday to get the beef deluxe and golden buns. They offer huge portions and are very fair priced. Me and my wife normally spend about 30 bucks and we waddle out of dine in like a couple of stuffed turkeys. Or we get the take out and eat in bed like savages lol. Panda Dynasty is my favorite Chinese in Kalamazoo County. My favorite dish is the Szechuan Chicken and the won ton soup. On those days I'm just not up to cooking during this pandemic, this is a must for carry out. You will not be disappointed. Healthy portions, well packaged to go, absolutely satisfying in every way. Delicious Chinese cuisine! Everything we ordered was delicious. Staff was kind and attentive. There weren't many people there on a Sunday evening. The food was fresh and the best I've had in the US. The lo mein was the best dish we had. The cold sesame noodle, bean curd (tofu) vegetable soup, and sesame tofu with rice were all delicious. All the appetizers are a generous size, big enough to share. Didn't expect that and filled up on them, having to take the entrees home for tomorrow, but that's our own inexperience with this particular restaurant. Everyone was more than pleased. The only things that wasn't the greatest was the spring rolls and dumplings. They were average, but that's not too shabby. They weren't bad, just typical, I guess. I have a hard time rating this place. Sometimes it is so good. Other times it isn't edible. When it was Panda Forest, it was consistently good. Now that it merged with Ming Dynasty, it is bad more often than not. I have never been here when it was busy--it is usually empty. I'm not sure how it stays in business. read more

We were a group of 9 with dinner reservations to celebrate 2 family member's birthdays. None of us had ever been at this restaurant before but will definitely be back. We raved about the tasty, timely food with great portions and the care/concern showed by employees to make sure we were fully satisfied. The variety of appetizers and menu items were all rated as excellent by our group and we agreed that the crab rangoons were the best we EVER have had!! Great choice if you like Chinese cuisine. The staff is incredible. The food above average. This is a family owned business which may be why it is such a friendly place to dine. Haven't had a bad meal here but I also haven't had a great meal. Service is always good, and the dinners with cocktail are a great idea. You receive generous portions, especially with lunch. Egg rolls are more or less a glorified spring roll (too much cabbage with nothing else). I'll keep going back but they are a step below Joy Fong and Hunan Gardens. read more

With so many positive reviews, I've tried this restaurant and given it multiple chances to shine. Unfortunately, what I found is that they use a very small number of sauces for all of their dishes. For example, the only way to tell the difference between the Sizzling Beef and Scallops and the Mongolian Beef is the meat and vegetables - the sauce is identical. Also, their Szechuan and Kung Pao are identical flavor-wise. NOTHING on their menu is actually anywhere close to spicy, even though I've ordered it extra, extra, extra spicy. There were lots more chilies in it, but they put so much sugar in all their spicy dishes that it completely kills the heat. Now, 2 dishes worth ordering on occasion. They make a really good hot and sour soup, and their pork lo mein is pretty good. Just don't go for anything special or anything spicy - they just don't live up to it. I moved here after spending over 30 years in Columbus, Ohio, and GOOD Chinese restaurants are a dime a dozen there with several that qualify as outstanding. Panda Dynasty doesn't measure up to ANY of those places. If you like their sauces, have at it. I won't be settling for their blah food any more, and I suggest you look elsewhere, too. read more

No doubt about it, Ming Dynasty has the best chicken fried rice in town. The food here never disappoints. The atmosphere is a little dull but that is soon to change with their upcoming renovations which will start at the end of May and end in September. My family and I have been going to this restaurant for years (starting when it was Ming Dynasty). Owners Jimmy & Vickie, and their family and friends, are always friendly, courteous, and accommodating. The food is always fresh, preparation meticulous, and flavors amazing. The bar-tending is also great- no skimping on alcohol. There are other Chinese restaurants in the area, some with gimmicks (e.g. all-you-can-eat buffets, "fusion" menus), but Panda Dynasty is the only Chinese restaurant that we will go to.
