Got steamed white rice on my plate, then had to wait for another 10mins before someone helped me for the entre. I turned out spent almost $10 on a plate of cold Chinese food which was supposed to be hot with cold hard white rice. The taste of food was ok based on I didn't have any expectation . We needed a quick lunch at the spectrum so we came here since it wasn't crowded and is typically good. My fiancé ordered the 2 entree combo and I got a kids meal. They totally skimp on the meat here! My kids meal had like 3 tiny pieces of orange chicken and my fiancé barely had a full cup of meat in his combo plate.....how disappointing! We both looked at eachothers plates and commented on how there was hardly anything there. We go to another panda close by our house and they hook it up with the meat....here, not so much! I find it funny that this place is categorized at "dim sum" on yelp because it really isn't. It's more of an Asian styled fast food place. It's been a long time since I have been back to a Panda Express...probably 6 years. I came here due in part to a promotional coupon I received to try one of their latest dishes. Of course, there was a gimmick to get you to go in their store. Since I was hungry, I got more than just that tiny free dish. I ordered chow mein for $2.50. I've tried giving this location a try several times and each time was disappointing. The rice is usually hard but if you like burnt rice try it out, the string beans in the string bean chicken are usually raw. Super skimpy on meat, usually serve mostly vegetables. Today was the last straw when the girl serving the food dropped her pen into the pan of broccoli beef then proceeded to reach in with her bare hand to grab It and continued serving me the same food. Pretty sure that's a health code violation. The real kicker though was finding plastic at the bottom of the chow mein when I'm basically done eating and the manager said he would refund just the chow mein lol Got the plate refunded completely in the end but what's dumbfounding is they refund the entire meal then have you pay for the rest of the meal again. Hmm, I just noticed that most of my reviews are 4-5 stars. Panda Express to the rescue to bring down the curve! Like the guy in the back of your 8 a.m. lecture, Panda Express can always be counted on to bring an uninspired performance. If you're reading this and you're wondering what kind of food Panda serves, I've got to ask - where you've been son?!? Panda Inc. is the only company serving fast food that had year over year growth in sales in the recession and actually dared to expand domestically. This means that people can't get enough Orange Chicken and can you seriously blame them? Panda easily serves the best fast food orange chicken hands down, end of discussion. More praises for this fast, fuzzy bear - high foot traffic through the Irvine Spectrum lends itself to a high turnover of food in the steam trays, meaning the food is fresher than other Panda Expresses you might have been to. If you order a one, two, or three item entree (which most do), you get a choice of white rice, fried rice, chow mein or mixed vegetables - never had the vegetables. If I'm eating at Panda Express why pretend to eat healthy, right? Just go for the gusto and get your half fried rice and half chow mein, you know you want to. Then you get a choice of your main entree - sweet fire chicken breast (meh), green bean chicken (not bad if it's fairly fresh), beijing beef (tasty but basically orange beef), beef broccoli (avoid unless you like 10 pieces of broccoli and 3 pieces of beef), mandarin chicken (who gets this?), pork ribs (not bad but they're usually really dry), honey walnut shrimp (this is good but depends on your palate - might be too sweet for some), kung pao chicken (spicy but tends to be too salty), kobari beef (a new item which is actually pretty darn good - love the mix of vegetables with the wok'd beef and the sauce - the sauce is balanced and not too overpowering), tofu egg plant (see "mixed vegetables" comment above), and saving the best for last, orange chicken. I read somewhere that Panda goes through more chicken than McDonald's and I'd believe it. Crispy, sweet, with the right amount of breading to chicken ratio that other cut-rate Chinese fast food restaurants cannot come close to having. Service can be slow at this location plus the seating is a little awkward inside - most of the tables are right next to the line of people getting their food. A 2 item entree here seems to cost a little more than other locations - could be because it's Irvine or because it's located in the Spectrum. For these reasons I can't give the place 4 stars. Bottom line: Food is good enough to sneak into a matinee to stink up the theater, but not quite good enough to make you feel like you truly got your money's worth. read more

The soda was sooo flat. And the manager refused to acknowledge the fact. And it wasn't even just one of them. Believe me we tried them all between the four of us. Headed to the spectrum to take my kids to see a movie. Thought I would stop by Panda Express for a quick dinner , wow was that a mistake. The customer in front of me got a 2 entree plate but his entrees were loaded up. When I questioned if I had received the 2 entree plate amount the woman rolled her eyes and said yes very rudely. I was simply asking a question and was made to feel bad. It was obvious that we both got two very different amounts of food. Then their bathroom was out of order, I asked if there was another one close by or a restaurant that they have a agreement with that would allow us to use the restroom. The woman said no and was not even apologetic. I ended trying to go to another nearby restaurant and while I was waiting in line to purchase an item there so I could use the restroom,my 2 year old son peed his pants. This Panda Express does a great job. Usually they are extremely busy but they know how to get the line moving. They are extremely fast and nice at the same time. Food is fresh and always warm. Ewwwwwww! MAJOR CASE OF FOOD POISONING for my husband after eating here last Thurs around 7:30 pm. I'm talking bad food poisoning requiring IV and meds the following day. We all thought the food tasted dry and yucky, but he had a different meat than the rest of us, and he was so ill. The place was dirty, and everything looked old. I guess you can't expect much from this place. But I was. Came in and ordered the black pepper chicken, orange chicken and noodles. The orange chicken was good but the ambiance wasn't. Walking in you didn't know which side to order from left or right. I couldn't hear the young kid taking my order, it was just too loud, the blowers or ac was just so loud. He couldn't even hear me. I ended up just pointing at what I wanted. A customer explained his son had an accident on the floor with a drink and the guy cooking said he would take care of it. Well the dining room must've had a lot of accidents cause nothing was cleaned in there. I had to separate my family so we didn't sit in a puddle of water ( on both sides of the dining area). My review on this place might be biased depending on how you take it. I grew up in New York City so I am used to authentic, non westernized Chinese food. I personally don't like the taste of Panda Express as it doesn't remotely taste like how a real Chinese fast food restaurant would. This is an average Panda Express on terms of food quality. However, when you dine in and order a soda they no longer will sell you a "small" (22 ounce!) but require you buy a medium (33 gut busting ounces, 330 calories!). So I recommend that after asking for a small amd seeing the medium cup size, give a polite no thanks and ask for a free water cup. After comping a free healthy water cup to a thousand people maybe they will get the message. read more

My friend's 5 year old daughter, Sierra, actually prefers Panda Express over Red Robin's when we were shopping at Irvine Spectrum yesterday. This Panda Express is so much cleaner and decorated differently than the other ones I've been to. Even the food is displayed in wok like containers instead of the usual square buffet style ones. The staff was quick to help and friendly. I tried their new Beijing Beef, it was almost, almost, close to the mongolian beef at P.F. Chang's. Not to mention Sierra ended getting 3 extra fortune cookies with her cute little smile. Everybody walked out happy. read more
